Should I Spend Donuts On The Scout Master?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Because all Superheroes need a sequel…Superheroes 2 has found its way into our pocket sized Springfields!  This super event hit our devices…and with it arrived a whole new Event to make us scratch our heads, and drive us slightly insane. So it’s time to break out those donuts for their super hideouts because there’s a whole store full of superhero inspired premium items!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Scout Master to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this member of the Fabulous Guy to your town.

-HILARIOUS outdoor tasks, and just an all around hilarious character
-Voiced

Cons:
-You don’t need him to be successful at the event
-On the high side (donut wise) for just a premium character (no building)

Final Thought:
Premium:
Honestly this one is hilarious.  Premium players get him…he’ll crack you up.

Freemium:
Freemium toss up in my opinion.  The character is hilarious, and certainly better (IMO) than the Fracker.  He’s a little on the high side for just a premium character, but I do think his funny tasks and voice are worth it.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I grabbed him almost immediately.  Of course whatever you decide just remember this is limited time and will be leaving our games soon.  And of course, as with anything that helps earn event currency, the sooner you buy it the more beneficial it is to you.  So if you’re thinking about getting this, do as soon as you can so they can benefit you the most.

Make the Scout Master Search for his Scouts- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Scout Master: Hmm, my scouts have scattered. Should have tied them down with a trusty bowline or clove hitch knot.

Make the Scout Master Recruit Henchmen at the Kwik-E-Mart- 8hrs, Earns $420, 105xp
Scout Master: Mr. Bombay, how ‘bout becoming one of my scouting boys?
Apu: Oh no, sir. Scouts are not adults like me. They’re children.
Scout Master: You let children be scouts here? What weird, weird customs.

Forget Me Knot Pt. 3
Scout Master starts

Scout Master: If scouts here are children, then children it will be! I must recruit henchmen at the local children depository.
Make the Scout Master Recruit Henchmen at Springfield Elementary- 12hrs, Earns $600, 150xp
Scout Master: Well, hello Sir! I’d like to recruit some children to join my fabulous scout troop!

Make the Scout Master Research Children’s Interests- 8hrs, Earns $420, 105xp

Forget Me Knot Pt. 5
Scout Master starts

Scout Master: Gahh, Springfield children like meaningless things, like television and phone games. What happened to the joy of whittling, reading a compass, and reciting pledges? I have no hope of recruiting scouts here. Guess I’ll just have to camp out and wait for my henchmen to return to me.
Make the Scout Master Start a Campfire- 24hrs, Earns $1,000, 225xp

  1. I love that scene from old Radioactive Man show. And he does say it when you tap on him!! “Don’t be afraid to use your finger nails boys”

    Very happy with this purchase.

  2. I just got back to 100 and was planning on buying Akira…might get this one instead and wait for Akira…thoughts from owners of both?

    • I think Akira is better coz of the building alongwith him

    • That’s a tough call, Akira comes with a building too (and makes Bonsai trees – if you haven’t filled up your stars) but he is permanent so you can get him any time you get enough donuts, BUT Scoutmaster is limited and helps with the event and might help you get bonus donuts this event. In the end it’s your call as to what you want or need more.

    • I have Akira but haven’t decided on the scoutmaster yet…

Much as I like having Akira making bonsai 24/7, if you like this one maybe you should buy him now as he is a limited time offer and who knows when he may be offered again?

Akira will still be around to buy when you build up your donuts again…

    • Akira is a much better (character AND building, and Akira produces free bonsai), but the Scoutmaster is a limited-time item. So, if the Scoutmaster really appeals to you (and you think you’d seriously regret not getting him), then I would go with him. But if you’re on the fence about really wanting him (if, say, donuts were even easier to come by than they are), then go with Akira.

    • The Springfield Pet Shop is worth considering now that Jub-Jub is a premium character with full tasks. At 90 donuts, it’s a great bargain and several characters need it for their tasks, with Stampy and Mr Teeny being the free ones.

Akira is great too, and besides his 12-hour task that gives you bonsai plants after every 3 times, his shop also opens up a 3-hour task for Ralph that pays at a premium rate.

If you don’t have either, I suggest getting the pet shop first because it gives you Jub-Jub, and unlocks 4/8 hour tasks for Stampy and Mr Teeny.

  3. I guess I’m just not getting what the big deal is, here, I’m not tempted by this character at all. I’ve spent quite a few donuts already this event, maybe I’m just done spending for now.

    • I kind of feel the same way. Since everyone seems to like him so much, it makes me wonder why I had never even considered getting him.

  4. Didn’t intend on getting him, but accidentally did when sending all into mansion task. Initially gutted, but after first few tasks and reading this am pleased I got him

  5. No nail scratching task? No visit to the salon to get a mani? Disappointing.

Otherwise, I do feel tempted to get him. In terms of spending my dough(-nuts), there’s him and that new island. 170 total (which is what I have). Hmm.

  6. 4kidsandacatdog

Makes me sad I am so low on donuts! Plus,I wish his 12 hour task was outdoor too (task length I use most often).

  7. Julie (jsander321)

I bought him right away as I love Paul Lynde and his zany characters. Right now he’s working in the summer mansion so I haven’t seen all his tasks yet but I LOVE how he throws cookies! Cracks me up every time. He’s even been healed a few times with band aids in battles just so he can throw more cookies! I’m super happy I bought him. 🍪🍪🍪

  8. I would get him if I would have enough donuts.

  9. I was on the fence about getting him (mainly over his price tag) but after reading this post I caved in. Now I wished I just sucked it up and bought The Fracker as well (his price was to high for my liking).

  10. What I’m wondering about is this character (and a few other items) is available or 15 more days but the event ends in 11. What’s going to happen during those 4 days? 🤔

    • I figured the 4 days cushion was before the takedown update would become a forced update. I would use that 4 day cushion to illustrate to people that were freaking out that the previous 115 battle requirement for One Week Wonder Films gave us nearly a one week cushion on Social Battles. That all became moot though, when they made the Social Battle prizes extremely attainable. I’m assuming we’ll have an extra four days of bonut time, and time to redesign before any ?Olympic-themed? or other event ensues.

      • Bear in mind the majority of us need every spare day available to complete these tasks. We do that ” task ” that sends us to work most days !!!
Mind you I enjoy your comments Safi, keep them coming.

    • I think that’s happened before. Like, did that happen last event, too? I think the answer was, you don’t get those extra days. It’s all a lie. Contact EA!

      • I know it happened during another event. I forget which one and what happened. No biggie, but inquiring minds want to know!

    • If my numbers are right (and they’re probably not?) then 11 days will be on a Monday, while 15 days will be on a Friday. Either way, it’s the end of the event, there shouldn’t be another event….except that 11 days means that it’s possible for there to be a back to back event starting that next day, on Tuesday. If it does, then that would mean that the forced update would probably happen before those 4 days were up. I think they’re usually only a couple days (I don’t have figures on that), but might be up to 4 or 5 days depending.

What’s my prediction for the timing of the upcoming downtime? Thanks for asking. 😉 As much as my gut says “fear” I think it will go down as it seems to have been going, with actual downtime for at least a few days, maybe until that Thursday or the next week’s, which will be a minor event (Chiliad style). Some are predicting SH3 (Springfield Heights, not Superheroes). Could.

What other unrelated things do you want to bug David (I mean, me) with? Thanks for asking, Dave/id. With all of the ocean-based items we’ve been getting/offered, I’m predicting (read: hoping) that we’ll be finding new plots of Ocean (seaward). I guess the issue is how it would related to SH since releasing “land” in Springfield means that SH would have to line up with it (it doesn’t mean that, just look at the mountain area), which means that SH will have to charge SH currency for those ocean plots. So, SH3 will bring us new ocean in SH and in Springfield. There’s no other way to offer it.

      • I bet we see more land in SH before we see more ocean plots. I wouldn’t mind either, or neither. I fully expect SH3 at some point but, if they wanted to make the land even up and offer it for in-game cash, well, that’d be just fine by me.

  11. What weapon does he use when combating villains?
I just had enough bonuts when he appeared, so I bought him after some serious thinking, which took me 1 nanosecond.

  12. I said it before and I’ll say it again, if EA ever does a Junior Camper/Camping Event you know he’d help with event currency. (Might as well get him now, since if not, you’ll get him then)

I could resist getting him. there was something Bewitching about him. 😉

  13. Josephine Kick@$$

Unfortunately Scoutmaster will be something I will be pining for later 😢 I’ve cracked Plopper wide open already, plus I’m farming bonuts just to be able to (hopefully), get what I already want that’s limited.

Alissa, since you’ve been the target of our desire for perfection in the world… he doesn’t earn knuckles 😂😘😘😘

  14. Looks like EA didn’t decide to stay far away from that campy 70s version… *shudders*

  15. I couldn’t resist. Funny how he was just briefly in the Radioactive Man episode, but I’ve loved the character ever since. If he was a villain on the Adam West Batman TV show, I think he would’ve been portrayed by Paul Lynde.

  16. Just the post I’ve been waiting for – thanks! I’m leaning heavily towards getting him (even more so after reading this post), but I might wait just a little longer, just to see what the comments look like about him from other players, just to be sure I’m not seeing any regret.

    • I normally go for the building/character combos as I try to build up my town but this was an instant buy. Still laughing now.

    • You should get him. By the way- are you farming for doughnuts now? If not- you should. I’ve been getting an amazing amount of content lately ever since I starting farming KEM’s.

      • Nope – not farming at the moment. But I’ve amassed about 800 donuts, so, if I want something enough to send the donuts it costs to get it, I can just get it. Scoutmaster wouldn’t be a problem to get…I just want to make sure that I won’t regret my purchase. 🙂

      • Sillyboy, would you (or anyone else) mind explaining why now is a good time to farm Donuts please? I was going to do it at the end of the event, but if I should be doing it now, I’ll get to it. Thanks v much….💜X

        • If you are farming Bloodmobiles or Rat Trap Delivery Trucks, a good time is when you have an hour or two, and lots of money to blow. You’ll spend 5 donuts to activate the Collider for 24hrs, farm Bldm/RTDT that are placed instantly, spending millions and millions of in-game cash bring you down as close to $0 as possible, and enjoy lots of donuts at once. Problem is you just spent tons, if not all, of your in-game cash.

However, Sillyboy brought up KEM farming. A good time for KEM farming is any 10 day stretch where you can log in a few times day most days. You’ll spend 25 donuts to activate your Collider for 10 days, farm as many KEM as you can generate income for in a four hour period (as the build time is four hours), sell them back and be at the same amount of money you were at 4 hours ago, and enjoy a few donuts. But keep repeating it and the donuts will slowly add up but you won’t lose any in-game cash if you farm the appropriate amount of KEM.

Events are a non-factor for KEM farming. The only thing that is a factor is how many times you can check your game per day over a ten day period. If you’ll only be checking in once or twice a day, eight of the next ten days, definitely not worth it. If you’ll be checking in before work, after work, and at bedtime 9 of the next ten days, now you may make it worthwhile. If you can tap every four hours 5 times a day for ten days, you’ll be getting so many donuts that we may have to consider you a Tapped Out diabetic.

          • Josephine Kick@$$

Which has a better return, BldMbls, or RTDTs?

          • The only amendment I’d make to your comment is that I would pretty much never suggest “spending down to as close to $0 as possible.”

Even when I’m farming rat trap trucks, I always leave myself a cushion of several million dollars, in case I need to buy land or other items. (I guess if you’re at max level (so no more uber expensive level items you have to buy) and you’ve already bought all of the land, you could spend down a lot lower, but I still wouldn’t go under a million…you never know when an event-linked freemium item might cine out that you want to buy a bunch of, like new fencing or something.)

            • Since I started farming, I usually keep my funds under $150,000. If an event requires money, doesn’t take too long to generate a million past level 60.

              • Actually, these days, land is the bigger issue. With all of the humongous buildings they’ve been releasing lately, I never know when I might suddenly need to buy a bunch more land.

But, yeah – I probably keep a bigger cushion than necessary…it’s just kinda how I’m wired.

              • Josephine Kick@$$

I’m maxed out on land except for the bottom right plot of water. I’ve stored quite a few items I’d rather have out (Anvil, Skyscraper, etc), they are just too large for an item that has no payout or bonus 😕😕😕 I’d store a few other huge buildings, but I just can’t bring myself to store anything that produces lol.

              • One of the reasons that I’ve only been buying land as I need it is that I have a theory that when you have “extra” land, you tend to make more expansive designs, using up more land than you might otherwise, leaving yourself nowhere to go when new items come out. (Substitute “one” for “you” in that sentence…I wasn’t referring to you, specifically.)

I think you’ve been playing longer than I have, though, and I’ve stayed away from getting most (all?) of the “aspirational” items, and still don’t have many of the premium items, so that’s probably why land hadn’t become a big issue for me yet.

              • Josephine Kick@$$

It’s funny that you say that because I look back on the last 4 years and wish I’d only bought the land I really needed at the time. I totally agree with your theory 😊

              • I used to keep a million as cushion. But ever since I learned you’re guaranteed 3 donuts in the pick-a-box game if you have less than $150,000, I keep less than $150,000 to get 3 donuts every two days from Where’s Maggie and for all the rounds of bonuts I’ve gotten this event.

In Issue 1, I got 3 donuts 6 times and 2 donuts twice as I had the million dollar cushion and was operating under my standard ‘only go for a second box if you get 1 donut on the first try’ approach. In Issue 2, I was below $150,000 and got 3 donuts all 9 times I had bonut opportunities. And I keep getting 3 donuts from Where’s Maggie now too. As a freemium, I always try to get free donuts however I can…it’s just kinda how I’m wired. 🙂

              • sandrashill

I love the way you work all the angles! 🙂

What you’re saying makes sense, but it’s mostly the land I worry about. But I have to admit, ever since I decided to follow your advice and stick on 2 with the bonut boxes, I’ve been able to master consistently getting the box with two donuts in it for my first pick every time. *sigh*

          • SAFI, Very clear as always. Thanks for responding👍🏽….💜X

  17. I’m sitting on the fence about this one.

  18. This was an instant buy. I love Paul Lynde (who he’s based off of) and one of my favorite scenes (in one of my favorite episodes) is where they show the old 60’s Radioactive Man cartoon with Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy fighting the Scoutmaster. “Don’t be scared to use your nails, boys!” So good.

  19. I was going to spend my donuts on Charcoal Briquette but she is now freemium 🤑
    So I bought him

  20. I’ve got to ask…I have followed your site for a long time now. It just crossed my mind that if I picked up every item that you said you were picking up…I think it would have been over $2,000 in real money. Now I’ll assume for the site that either you get something from EA i.e. free donuts for the work you do which is fair I might add or some other form of ad payments? I would love to know if anyone out there has EVERYTHING and if so, what was the cost. It must be outrageous.

    • We don’t get a dime from EA…that includes donuts. I spend roughly 300-400 a year of my personal money (my my real life job) on my personal game for my enjoyment.
Any money from this site goes into our games we use just for site purposes (ie rush tasks etc)

    • If you’re a high level player, you can farm for doughnuts without spending real cash.

  21. Instabuy. Don’t be afraid to use your nails, boys!

  22. Voiced! Decision made – now need to purchase some D’s so I can get him. So much for trying to save money 🙂

  23. The Paul Lynde/Charles Nelson Riley/Rodger (Family Guy) voice is worth every donut.
    Too funny.

  24. Not even a question: GET THE SCOUTMASTER.

If ever there was a character worth spending money on if you had to, here he is!

    • You’ve seemed to not like a lot of this event, but this you like? Interesting. Everyone seems to be on board with him. I guess I better just get him.

  25. Funny tasks? One to start a campfire and one to sell cookies? How is this any different than a DOZEN other characters that I have selling/offering stuff (burgers, sushi, pills, whatever) on the streets of Springfield? They really could be more original with the tasks… also, is this guy supposed to be a villain?? Even Agnes Skinner has rougher tasks than him.

    • Thanks for your viewpoint. I thought maybe she meant the questline was funny. I would hope so. I think premium characters should always have at least 3 visual tasks. 1 more task to “scratch with nails” would have been sublime. Also, brown house to go online instead of the Java Server? Why does EA hate the Java Server?

  26. Doesn’t he start with 4♥ ?

  27. I was on the fence, and had to take a closer look at the origin before deciding, myself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPmLGmK8Xig (Apologies to Wookie… I just couldn’t wait on a WDTCF post.) So he comes from a very short scene — but a hilarious one. I’m at work right now, but I’m thinking I’m probably going to pull the trigger, when next I open the game.

  28. A perfect example of why I love Tapped Out. A throw-away character with a few seconds of screentime, BUT it was one of my favourite scenes from the show, and now I can have him sashaying around my town forever.
    Go get ’em scouts!

    • I’d love to see the sales figures; I’d be surprised if he hasn’t broken a record or two.

    • I love that they have that rich history too. Just a few seconds and you’re unforgettable. Like Joey Jo-Jo Jr Shabadoo as well. Scoutmaster gives me hope that we may see Joey Jo-Jo someday.

      • You seem positive and sincere about this but when you said “rich history” it sounded sarcastic. Was it?

        • Not sarcastic at all. Their history is so rich, I seriously could have made my brackets start a round earlier with 128 characters instead of 64; and you’d still have people mentioning that their favourite was left off. That’s how rich their history is. [In a very stern, non-sarcastic tone]

  29. So awesome that they did this character. How can you not buy a character based on Paul Lynde?

  30. Oh I just had to have him! His animations are awesome and he’s voiced! ☆☆☆☆☆
