Well…you’re welcome. I went to lunch and as soon as I left the office EA decided to drop an update on us. I swear it’s like they have cameras following me around 😉
Anywho…a mini event just hit our games…the Springfield Olympics! Lisa will get this started with a 6s task. Followed by 6s tasks for Snake, Wiggum & Quimby. This will launch the event itself…. (and a 3hr task for Homer)
Back with more details as I go through them… More details below the fold…
As mentioned above after you complete a short series of 6s tasks the event itself will launch…
Much like the mini events of the past…this is no different. Complete a series of tasks to earn prizes. Pretty simple stuff! 🙂
This event ends August 16th…which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, since EA announced that starting August 16th you’ll need to have a more updated OS system. (See this post for more details) Most of us suspected something bigger would be coming around that time….
Anywho let’s take a look at the goodies (as always I’ll break everything down in Podmore detail later. Including the walkthrough for each part of the Games)…
Prizes..
There are 6 total prizes that you can unlock. They’ll range from buildings and decorations to animations and characters. Here’s a quick breakdown (in order they unlock):
Springfield Games Cauldron
Podium
Pin Stand (Pin Collector Lisa awarded with questline)
Animation for the Cauldron
Go-Kart Track
Betting at the Go Kart Track (Similar to the Dog Track…)
A couple of other things are awarded via the Prize Track that you can’t see…well mainly the Pin Stand..
As mentioned above you’ll get Pin Collector Lisa by completing the questline that unlocks with the Pin Stand.
In addition to that you’ll also unlock a mini-game…the mini-game allows you to collect Pins. Collecting Pins will earn you a character for your Springfield…Fatov!
I’ve got to play around with this aspect a bit more, but I’ll break it all down for you in another post.

Sportacus- 85 Donuts…Returning from Tap Ball. Should I Buy
Cristo of Springfield- 75 Donuts. Will earn you more Ribbons (2/3hrs)
Half-Pipe- 100 Donuts. Will earn you more Ribbons (2/3hrs)
Country Flag Bundle- 50 Donuts. Flags from 30 different countries
Training Bundle- 125 Donuts. Boxing Ring, Golf Course, T-Ball Stand, Tennis Machine & Obstacle items from Tap Ball
Springy- 60 Donuts. Thanks Sam
Gym Locker Mystery Box- 75 Donuts…Contains a character from Tap Ball…Jockey Bart & Furious D, Tennis Marge, Ballet Ralph, Kung Fu Comic Book Guy or Toreador Abe (Note: this will NOT unlock until you’ve gone through a couple portions of the quest/prize track)
There’s also a rebate deal available on Lugash…(175 donuts, get 40 donuts back)
I’ll have Should I Buys available for all them items once I go through them and evaluate.

Is Fatov an NPC?
Cristo de Springfieldo seems like the most enticing premium on offer. But it’s so very religious that I’m not sure I want it. It’s also very iconic when it comes to Brazil… Would Vanessa implore me to get it? That’s what I want to know. (I don’t know any other Brazilians…)
Well, I’ve never been to Rio; it should be bigger in my opinion; and it seems wrong to place it simply on grass, I’ll have to make a 3D design near the beach and place Cristo on top, but COME ON!!!! It’s the only item that makes a “crossover” with the real Olympic Games, that will take place here, and you didn’t even know that, and *I* (the only Brazilian you know… Hah! 😛) told you about! Also it’s the first Olympics mini-event on TSTO, so it’s super cool to have something so iconic – you’ll always remember when you bought it and why, because God (or Christ) knows how long this game is gonna last. Oh, and Christ the Redeemer is one of the new7wonders of the world. That’s right, “new7wonders”. Like “simp7fan”. 😀
There you go. I might be overreacting to this, and you/other players might disagree with me, but you did ask my thoughts on it. 😊
I’ve heard of Brazil…so notwithstanding knowing about the Games being held there I do have a familiarity with the statue. 😛

About the statue, I don’t think it fits in Springfield….
I placed mine behind the First Church of Springfield.
I’ve always loved the statue, and even though it doesn’t fit the exact theme of SF, what does lol😊😊😊

** VERY IMPORTANT ** You can send EVERYONE to collect ribbons! Since you only need 8 for the first part idk if they’ll carry over, and you have to send them individually, but everyone can do it!

Dont worry.There are 7 people that shows plus Homer its 8 ribbons,so its OK. Only wish I knew it before spend 2 donuts.
They sorta do. In so much that if you are active exactly three hours later as i was, then you can clear the first 8 or 10p from town hall and then the remainder when the second prize activates, meaning yiu can send the needed character to do one part, whilst the remainder can then be sent on other pressing quests.
They don’t??? Oh, crap! I wouldn’t have sent all of them to do that if I’d known that.
When will I ever learn never to make a move without waiting for info here first. 🙁
If I’m very lucky, and I time it just right, maybe I can collect the original 8 before I collect the others, so some of the others will count towards the next goal. If not, I will have wasted all of those characters for three hours.
Why do they keep us from being able to use the unemployment office for all of those characters (and give them the ability to earn ribbons from the get go, if they’re not going to carry over?!? Grrr….
I didn’t know if you meant that they don’t carry over if collected all at once or if they don’t carry over at all even if you stagger them, which happened during minor event where they kicked out your remaining characters. Glad to see for myself that staggering is still possible. 🙂
You’re not exactly wrong. They will carry over if you stagger them. This has been a strategy that usually works during minor events. So, start your 8 Participation Ribbon earners, then half an hour later start whatever number of them more, like 16 more. You can do that one more time with the rest of the town and keep those to help you get through the first few rounds. After that you can’t send the rest of town…
Besides that, just try staggering the tasks. I always try this. I was glad to see you mention it, but next time just mention staggering. That’s the key. (I’ve already got my 16 for round 2. I’m holding off collecting the rest of my city for round 3 (after Lisa finishes). Actually…I’m contemplating spending 2 donuts to rush Lisa… silly, I know.)

Sad, but true. I used to get so friggin’ excited about the Olympics when I was a kid, but thanks to years of IOC corruption and idiocy, plus some other factors, I’ve lost all interest.
I took note of the cost of all characters and buildings so I could compare and prioritise and I had Lugash’s Gym as costing 135 donuts, so 175 donuts with a 40 donut rebate is not actually a deal at all. Does anyone else agree with my assessment?

I have a list of all the premium characters and how many donuts they cost. When I made the list I’m sure Lugash was 135 donuts in the game.

He was offered for the same rebate during Black Friday. 175 with a rebate of 40.
In May this year I made a list of some premium buidling costs and had Lugash’s Gym down as costing 175 donuts…

It’s not a new deal, according to the wiki. It’s regularly 175 donuts but last Black Friday it was also rebated 40 donuts, making its “deal” price 135 donuts. So, it’s not a better deal than then, but I’d also say it’s not a great deal because things should get cheaper as time goes on not stay the same price, therefore it costs more when considering inflation and demand and such. Economics FTW! 😉

Oh I very like the episode with pin Lisa (I dont know how name her)and I am soo happy for the Homer pin,hope it will be free.I know the episode was about curling in first place,but the end just got me.

Honestly glad it’s only a mini event. Not into the Olympics really just men’s diving/swimming and men’s gymnastics. Those are purely aesthetic.

I joined a curling team for a half a season many years ago and definitely enjoyed it, but I don’t find it all that fun to watch.
I enjoy men’s and women’s gymnastics the most, in terms of summer Olympics games.
Watching curling is like watching the girls clear the ice at the hockey games to me 😂😂😂

In my game, there is a glitch wherein I can send every character on the Suggest Events job at town hall, by tapping on them individually instead of going through the Springfield Games menu. I currently have about 40 characters collecting ribbons.
Looking forward to the details-not sure how the Collect Participation Ribbons (8) is going to work. First job is for Skinner, Quimby, Moe, Milhouse, Nelson, Martin and possibly Homer(he is busy Intimidating Springfielders) to collect ribbons by Suggest(ing) Events. So I have 6 on the job. However, if I go to other Sprinfielders individually, I can send them to Suggest Events and earn ribbons. Hope they count toward the first 8 participation ribbons needed so I don’t have send Skinner et cetera on a second round.

They mentioned Springy, and since I had him, nothing else occurred. But, really? 60 donuts? I think he’s a horrible character and should be at most 30 donuts (NPC price) or better yet just FREE.

Sweet, just finished this week’s rail yard tasks (10 bonuts, woo-hoo!), so I don’t have to worry about characters getting stuck witht the event tasks.
FYI – looks like we might be able to “bank” ribbons. Seems like you can only set 8 characters through the event task window, but if you click other characters, they all have a task to earn ribbons.
Going to try setting a bunch in an hour or so, and then do the same later. Might be able to hack away at the prizes fairly quickly.
Only going to do that so I can focus on my town redesign. Just thought of something I could do after I got my free monorail tracks and bonuts…hate doing redesigns during events, mini or full 🙂
Lucky you. I am just almost that close to finishing the Rail Yard this week. I’ll have to restock when I can during the event. 10 more bonuts would be sweet, too.
It’s a lot easier now that the totals have been lowered. I’d normally finish on Friday or Saturday.

No not another event, major or mini it’s not important but event after event with no stop to breath make me feel like I am in front of a machine gun. Superheroes 2, monorail 2 and now one more event it’s become a kind of torture I am tired and at that moment I am trying to take a break from the rushed tapping that need the events. I am thinking to ignore the event if the prize track is not interesting, I never did a similar thing but now I want to focus on my monorail and tap slowly slowly with no rush otherwise I think that another event breakdown can make me faint.
Just remember that Monorail (Super Rail Yard) is a permanent addition (could be considered an expansion) and therefore you could have had a break during the last week by not doing monorail. It was so easy for me that I was done on the first day, so I welcomed our latest event, because to me I did have a break. I know how you feel, though. Just have to realize that some of the additions can be ignored if you’re in need of a break, and better to choose to ignore permanent versus temporary.
Not to add to your stress, but it looks like a bigger event is slated to come on August 16.
Just remember, this is a game. Play it as much or as little as you like. If it’s causing you that much anxiety, maybe you should reevaluate how you are approaching it and consider playing differently?
Knew something olympics related was coming but was hoping for stuff from the Rio episode. From what I’ve seen so far none of the prizes really excite me
I was able to send nearly every character to collect ribbons. Still not sure if Homer has to complete “Intimidate Springfielders” first in order for all those ribbons to count though. Or, if we’re better off not letting Homer finish that task so we can keep sending all the characters to collect ribbons. Can’t wait to see the post write up that answers this.
Alissa, so can we earn extra ribbons by sending all the Springfielders, or not?
If so, what method do we need to do it? Don’t let Homer complete “Intimidate Springfielders task, and keep sending everyone else to collect ribbons? Let him complete it, and then send everyone? Send the first 8 complete ribbon task, and then maybe 30 min later send everyone else? Will they all still be reworded the ribbons if the first 8 have already completed it?
They DO NOT carry over. So it doesn’t matter if you send them all or not…you’ll start back at 0 when you start part 2.
That’s not entirely true…I had stagger started all of my remaining Springfielders after sending the initial 8. I collected those 8 and, sure enough, when I collected the others 15 minutes later, I was able to complete the “group” part of part 2. However, it doesn’t work past part 2, because, after that, only the characters on the quest list can earn ribbons.

Update seems glitchy so far…every time I go to do a task, the game shuts down and returns to my home screen. I think it should be an interesting little event though!
After this last update, my Confirm Doughnut purchase preference reset to “no”, and I accidentally spent 125 doughnuts trying to take a closer look at the Training Bundle. Is this something EA can/will switch back for me?

I actually didn’t mind Tap Ball, but I thought it was hilarious. It echoed exactly the comments we’ve been seeing here the past week. “Please, no Tap Ball!” Ha ha! People were panicking that there would really be a return of Tap Ball.
