Well…you’re welcome. I went to lunch and as soon as I left the office EA decided to drop an update on us. I swear it’s like they have cameras following me around 😉
Anywho…a mini event just hit our games…the Springfield Olympics! Lisa will get this started with a 6s task. Followed by 6s tasks for Snake, Wiggum & Quimby. This will launch the event itself…. (and a 3hr task for Homer)
Back with more details as I go through them… More details below the fold…
As mentioned above after you complete a short series of 6s tasks the event itself will launch…
Much like the mini events of the past…this is no different. Complete a series of tasks to earn prizes. Pretty simple stuff! 🙂
This event ends August 16th…which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, since EA announced that starting August 16th you’ll need to have a more updated OS system. (See this post for more details) Most of us suspected something bigger would be coming around that time….
Anywho let’s take a look at the goodies (as always I’ll break everything down in Podmore detail later. Including the walkthrough for each part of the Games)…
Prizes..
There are 6 total prizes that you can unlock. They’ll range from buildings and decorations to animations and characters. Here’s a quick breakdown (in order they unlock):
Springfield Games Cauldron
Podium
Pin Stand (Pin Collector Lisa awarded with questline)
Animation for the Cauldron
Go-Kart Track
Betting at the Go Kart Track (Similar to the Dog Track…)
A couple of other things are awarded via the Prize Track that you can’t see…well mainly the Pin Stand..
As mentioned above you’ll get Pin Collector Lisa by completing the questline that unlocks with the Pin Stand.
In addition to that you’ll also unlock a mini-game…the mini-game allows you to collect Pins. Collecting Pins will earn you a character for your Springfield…Fatov!
I’ve got to play around with this aspect a bit more, but I’ll break it all down for you in another post.

Country Flag Bundle- 50 Donuts. Flags from 30 different countries
Training Bundle- 125 Donuts. Boxing Ring, Golf Course, T-Ball Stand, Tennis Machine & Obstacle items from Tap Ball
Springy- 60 Donuts. Thanks Sam
Gym Locker Mystery Box- 75 Donuts…Contains a character from Tap Ball…Jockey Bart & Furious D, Tennis Marge, Ballet Ralph, Kung Fu Comic Book Guy or Toreador Abe (Note: this will NOT unlock until you’ve gone through a couple portions of the quest/prize track)
There’s also a rebate deal available on Lugash…(175 donuts, get 40 donuts back)
I’ll have Should I Buys available for all them items once I go through them and evaluate.

As a freemium player I am seriously considering the flag bundle. I love the % bonus… and it reads like a good deal for that. Any thought about that folks? Thank you
I snapped them up, I like having a little representation of other countries in my SF. I stole an idea from another addict (I’d give them credit, but can’t remember who it was 😕), & kind of started a UN looking building. My only complaint was that EA put them in my inventory, and I had to place them one by one, searching through my inventory to find them all since they weren’t even grouped together 😳
It had the best %-to-donuts ratio currently in the game…I got a set, even though I was already at over 260%. They come with some amusing bits of dialog, too! 🙂
In the past, I would have said that, as a strictly freemium player, you should only buy items that bring you joy or alleviate an aggravation. But, with free donuts being reasonably plentiful, and 50 donuts being not that many, it might be worth going for the flags even if they don’t totally make your toes curl. 😉
I got them & love it, I had wanted flags that I had seen in another town. I have my “games area surrounded by the flags.

Not sure if this was covered already in a previous post, I’ve been gone for a bit. But anyone else having the building icon highlight as 8 new buildings being added? It says there is new buildings or decorations, but there is not anything new. This has been like this since before the 2016 games update.
Every time you level up you’ll see that. It’s for the money you can buy with donuts. It adjusts each time you level up
You can get rid of it by expanding your Store menu and clicking on either the New or Currency section. However, you’ll have to do this each time you level up.
I wish it would let me buy the boxing ring separately. I don’t want the whole bundle since I already have everything except the boxing ring.
Hey, I love all things duff. I really want to purchase the half pipe for my collection but I can’t tell if it will be cool or not. Does it come with a story line or tasks

Wasn’t there something saying that events were going to be open to all players, regardless of level? After level 60 and the end of level updates, maybe. Or am I misremembering?
Nope you’re not. I think though most have to start at level 20 because of quimby. I guess they figure it’s pretty easy to get to level 20 for the mini events, and there’s no hold ups that way for not unlocking certain characters.
I’m so tempted to get a mystery locker, but I just know that as soon as I spend the donuts, something else will become available that I want more.
Has anyone who played the Tap Ball event, but didn’t get Furious D or Toreador Abe, purchased a locker and got Abe first? I would probably pay 75 donuts to get the character/skin combo, but would not be happy to get just the Abe skin.
davidbo was a lucky winner of the abe skin before furious d. with my luck, i’ll get toreador abe first as well, so i think i’ll be passing on the locker.
Like tape said, I got Abe’s skin first so had to go again to get Furious D (and Bart’s skin). From the comments, it looks like I was pretty unlucky. Fortunately (or is it unfortunately?) I’m used to that. 😉
Those are the only two I don’t have either. I haven’t sprung yet. Don’t really want Abe as I already have 2 premium skins for him (Stonecutters and Gorgeous Grampa).
I’ll probably do it though, and if I don’t get Furious D, I’ll buy a second one. Was excited when I saw that Tennis Marge was in the box, because I thought that mean that they upgraded her to premium, but they didn’t. Too bad. I still don’t have a premium skin for Marge.
It would be nice if they eventually make those Tap Ball skins pay premium. Not just because I have them, but if people are paying donuts for them, they really should be worth it.
That’s why I won’t bother with the Gym Locker, if I’m to understand it correctly, the only thing I’ll end up with is Abe’s skin. With no bonus payout for it, why pay extra for it? I already have everything else from the last event.
Abe’s skin does pay premium. But it always did, as far as I know. The skins that were prizes from Tap Ball that are available in the locker don’t pay premium.
So, the only thing I don’t have that’s available in the box is Abe’s Toreador skin, and it pays premium, so that’s what I’ll get if I buy the locker?
If you have everything else, that’s what you’ll get.
But, does the toreador skin pay a premium?
Yes, it does.
Hmmmmm… now I’m a bit annoyed, only 1 of the several skins I have for Lisa pays premium, and NONE of the skins I have for Marge pay premium. Where’s the love EA? Why don’t all of the other Tapball skins pay premium? What am I missing here? All of the Stonecutters are men… all premium… coincidence? I think NOT! 😂😂😂
Hopefully for you, they’ll re-release Witch Marge again at Halloween… It’s one of the best premium skins in the game. She flies around in a broomstick and, more importantly, can rush crops!

It totals to 30 flags you get 7.5% bonus for the 50 donuts.
I know the SIB will be up soon, but the Cristo statue does provide a 2.5% bonus. I just hope it continues to earn an income after the event; my Shuttle Simulator did for a while, then they stopped it.
I got Lugash because 135 donuts for a character/building combo seemed like a good deal, but I was extra happy with my purchase when I discovered that it gave my Gymnast Lisa 4-hour and 8-hour tasks! Now Lisa can earn premium rates for me for all of the task times that I usually use! 🙂
The only thing I have to decide now is whether to leave her balance beam at the tap ball stadium, or whether I now have to move it over to Lughash’s Gym. (Honestly, if it were at Lugash’s, it would be indoors, whereas, at the tap ball stadium, it makes sense to have it outdoors, as a kind of exhibition thing, so maybe I can/should just leave it there. Plus, my stadium is in a more visible location, and that balance beam routine animation is one of my favorite ones in the entire game. If they decide to re-release Gymnast Lisa during this event, I highly recommend getting her, especially if you’re a Lisa fan!)
I haven’t seen it mention yet that the Tire Fire generates event currency on par with the other premium decorations (2 ribbons every 3 hours). I don’t know if it’s offered as a premium item in the event shop because I already have it. The tire fire is a decoration that will be on many freemium players’ wishlist, I know it was high on mine, so now would be a great time to get it! I’m assuming that most premium players will already have it. I was lucky: I got it early on in both of my towns in a mystery box… 😄

I can’t decide whether to go for the gym locker. I wouldn’t mind Furious D for that price, but I don’t have the grandpa outfit, so I could end up with that one and I don’t think it’s worth the price.
I had the same two missing, so I decided to take the chance. 50/50 isn’t bad odds. Got Bart and Furious D! But the locker is still there so I could go get Grampa for the 75 if I want him too.

I’ve a question about the locker mystery box: since i have most of the characters from tip ball … do i get definitely one of the missing characters (Bart and the Horse or Abe) or will there be a donut refund like as it sometimes happen with the mystery box?
Missing Characters only…so you’ll get one of what you missed. No other options.

I had the same issue! I stored it and then placed it back into my Springfield and it seems to be working fine now.

Is anyone finding that they cannot click on their tire fire? Every time I do, the expected text box momentarily appears before vanishing (talking 10th of a second here) and though I am progressing through the quest line it is not generating any event currency.
My game never updated. I can’t start the event.

It’s wierd, but even with the rebate I have no interest in getting Lugash.
One of his tasks I’ve seen in neighbor’s towns has him doing cartwheels … I smile every time I see it😂
The Duff Blimp appeared for me as well in the store, did anyone else get that? I don’t see it listed up there. Any thoughts on that purchase?

I purchased it. I’ve always wanted a blimp in my Springfield. It has a message animation when tapped. I like it. I placed it at my airport. I think it’s great!
Sez it only gives a vanity boost, so only worth buying if you like it.
It is quite useless without bonus percentage. But is limited though. I will not get it if my donuts are limited.

It contains unique characters so you wouldn’t be able to get something you already have.
Characters? Only characters? Could you list examples, please? It would be a great deal indeed except for Squidport performers or some cheaper true characters like Bumblebee Man or Hans Moleman.

The game actually *tells* you which characters are possible, and you can count on any that you already have not appearing.

I see a lot of people complaining about yet another event; I am happy for one.
I missed the first monorail event and am happy to get it this time. I was so eager to get as much as I could of it, that I am ‘caught up’ to the weekly tasks. So this was a great [event] drop-in.
The prizes are so-so. Looking forward to the Go Kart track then Lisa’s skin.
I think August 16th will be the big one, from what I have been reading! Ohhhhh!!!
I got Furious D on the first try, which is awesome because I didn’t want the Abe outfit. Also picked up Lugash because of the 40 donut rebate.

Is this a glitch? I got fatov and got the first pin. When I went to my neighbours and tapped a few of them and went back to the game, fatov was back maybe 30 minutes after the first time and I got the second pin. Then I had closed my game for supper and came back 30 minutes or so later and he was there again and I got the third pin.

I like the fact that this Mini Event is poking fun of the Olympics (which is a ridiculous waste of resources and money, in my opinion). It’s bad enough that the Olympics are being held in Rio de Janeiro (Zika Disease Central), but hey that Country obviously wasted enough money to pay off the Olympic Committee!
I am enjoying this Mini Event , so long as I do not have to deal with non-player characters (NPC’s are a waste); except I do miss getting to visit my Neighboreenos in order to obtain / generate Event items!
Dude, Zika is the least of Rio’s problems.
Definitely, the poverty is terrible, and of course these kind of diseases strive where poverty is at its worst.
I think what is happening has shone a large light on how the Olympics have become a monster that will soon only be held in the richest nations.
It’s a great idea in principle to bring big events to countries that usually wouldn’t be considered or have been ignored BUT the idea falls flat on its backside when billions need spent to hold them. Building stadiums at the expense of hospitals and such is madness.
Sadly I think Rio will be remembered for all the wrong reason, but maybe, just maybe, someone will say you know we don’t need to build it bigger to make it a better games, we just need go back to basics. But I’m sure that money making beat the IOC would never allow that.
I’ve read somewhere a while back that this is true. That only the richest nations will hold the Olympics and won’t mind losing money. Cities like Beijing (which will host the 2022 winter games), Tokyo, L.A., maybe Paris or London. But forget about dark horses like Budapest, Azerbaijan (which had bid before) or any Eastern European nation, or African nation.
Oh, and don’t forget the corruption. Lots and lots of corruption. And incompetence, of course.
The Lugash deal was perfect for me. I was trying to decide which character/building combo to get next, and this sealed the deal. I’m very happy to get the 40 doughnuts back. The rebate made this a must buy for me. Way cool. 😎
I sent Lisa on a task to play the sax for pins. The task is stuck and not able to complete. Any ideas.
You can’t forward it…you have to let it complete (3 hrs). If it’s done and not clearing try going to Krustyland and back see if that clears it
I have all the tap ball characters except Toreador Abe. The 10-donut discount isn’t enough to make me get him (I’m still debating over Lugash)… but does this mean that the freemium tap ball skins are now paying premium?
