So EA’s added a Mystery Box element to this Event, something we first saw over the summer during the Olympic Event.
The Mystery Box is a neat element, in that it allows you to win some items from previous events…and often at a discounted rate. However, they don’t call it a Mystery Box for nothing…in that (unless you’re only missing 1 item) you don’t know what you’re going to get.
So let’s breakdown what’s inside this pumpkin filled Mystery Box…and determine if you should spend donuts to open it…
Donut Price: 60 Donuts/try
What’s Inside: Here’s what you can win…. Witch Marge & Caludron, Acorn Kirk, Donut Torture Device, HoverCopter, Squirrel Luann, the Sepulchre of Evil & the Nightmare Pile.
So should you spend the 60 donuts to get it? Well it depends on what you have inside. You see each of those items listed above is a unique item. So if you already have it in your town, it won’t appear in the Mystery Box.
I say the WitchMarge, Nightmare Pile, Acorn Kirk, Squirrel Luann and maybe the Sepulchre of Evil are worth the 60 donuts…
But the Donut Torture Device and the HoverCopter are not.
So it depends on what you have in your box. So take a look, and examine the Should I Buy posts that we have available for each item. Then decide if you’d like to add the item to your Springfield.

Acorn Kirk (60 donuts is a reduced price on this one, originally 70 donuts)
Donut Torture Device (Item breakdown, not a SIB BUT not with 60 Donuts IMO)

Squirrel Luann (60 donuts is a reduced price on this one, originally 80 Donuts)
Sepulcher of Evil (60 Donuts is a reduced price on this one..it was original 225)

Oh and for those asking why they don’t see the Mystery Box it their town…well that’s because each of the items inside is unique. And likely you have each of the items already, since they’re all re-releases of items from Halloweens past. 🙂

BAH! I bought 2 mystery boxes in my A game: 5 options available-kirk, luann, sepulcher, nightmare pile and marge. 1st pick kirk-cool. 2nd pick sepulcher.
B game-bought a mystery box-sepulcher.
I want marge!!!! I will spend 300 donuts on all of this crap. I don’t even care.
Do we know the odds of getting each of these prizes? Are they equally weighted, i.e. 20% if you can get any of the 5, 25% if you can get any of the 4, etc.? The Easter 2014 music makes me think of the dreaded “wheel” of fortune, which I don’t believe weighted the prizes equally (I got a lot of fences that spring).
I think they’re weighted differently id have to look at the files again
I’m tempted because of Witch Marge, Nightmare Pile and maybe the Sepulcher of Evil 🤔 Not really sure about that one, but the rest not so much. I don’t have Luann so her skin would be in my inventory, Kirk’s skin, and the other two decorations. Nah. Plus I’m also on the fence if I want the Crazy Cat Lady bundle for such a good deal. Blasted EA and their ways to tempt us tappers with bundles or taking a gamble on the mystery box. Haha. I would like to keep my pink sprinkles for a change. 😁
Boo. I had the sepulcher, Squirrel Luann, and Acorn Kirk as options. I really only want the sepulcher. (I do want the others, but not enough to pay for them). Rolled the dice and got Kirk. I really regretted missing the sepulcher last year (yes and no – I wasn’t going to pay that price) because the Burns task is AWESOME. Stay tuned and fingers crossed I get it on try #2 (need more donuts first)!
I bought Witch Marge last year without the Cauldron. I should have bought the Cauldron as well the week before, but it was just the Cauldron, no Witch Marge. Do you think they will be offering just the Cauldron again during this event? It seems like splitting them up in this way last year was a crummy thing to do, especially for players who try not to read the spoilers to see what’s coming ahead.
Well…even though you are kinda asking to look ahead, I can tell you that the cauldron is bundled with the Mystery Jack-O-Lantern. It doesn’t appear to be offered as a Premium item
Thanks Patric. The Cauldron is not currently showing up for me as an option in my Mystery Jack-O-Lantern, maybe because I already own Witch Marge. Who knows. But I will keep checking.
That’s why it’s not showing up…it’s a package in this one.

Check character storage- I added her skin long before I realized I even had a cauldron in there too. 😜
I got Witch Marge too and both the skin and the cauldron were in my storage!
I had the helicopter and donut device so they did not show up for me and I bought all of them lol! I was upset I missed out on Luann and Kirk’s costumes last year so I got them! And witch Marge(pity she has no questline tho). No regrets from me!
Got Squirrel Luann. Don’t have Luann. Best spend of 60 doughnuts ever 🙁

I don’t think I’ll take the chance to buy this… I really like the sepulchre but I have no interest in the Kirk and Luann skins, and I already have the rest of the stuff.
I bought a mystery box. I got the helicopter thing. Very unhappy, this thing is lame. Saving my donuts for later. I really wanted Marge too…
I sure would like to buy a few at least..I thought u only got one and that’s it…but looking at the posts here..some tappers bought a few!!!! Y wont it appear for me again?
It is hidden within the other menus once you purchase the first one. Click the arrow pointing to the left to open the mini icons, and there would be one for the Halloween event. For some reason its hiding there.
Just bought Crazy cat lady and house expecting 200 mag points.. They didn’t appear! Am I missing something! Please help..
I got the points after I selected her skin from my inventory.
Totally bought donuts for Halloween. The only things in my box were Kirk, Luann, and the sepulchur. Totally got them all. Well, might have passes if I had gotten the sepulcher first, but I got it last.
I’m loving the event this year. I consider myself to be a non-splurging premium player. Halloween is my favorite, and being able to get the sepulcher of evil so cheap was great! I passed on it before because of the cost. EA’s discounts are much loved. I might even finally pick up Count Burns if they set things up the way I think they will. I haven’t looked at a spoiler site, but he has to be offered again, right? Right? 🙂
I bought the standalone cauldron last year so Witch Marge isn’t showing up in this for me. What a shame.

Same here. I created a post in EA forum to create awareness since EA at times ask us to to post our issues there.
I bought two of em.. Got the sepulchre and Luann.. The two I wanted.. I never get a win like that so I am done.. Leaving the other three alone…
I thought I’d give it a go since I was missing Acorn Kirk, and I got him on the first try. Probably won’t bother trying to get the rest, especially since I already have Witch Marge, Squirrel Luanne and the Sepulcher of Evil.
I bought Witch Marge last year (without cauldron). Kinda sad that I don’t have the cauldron as I like the action.
Me also. I’m hoping they well offer the cauldron separate.
I was really nervous about this, but I thought th characters were worth it, so I rolled the dice (or donuts, lol) – and ended up getting Acorn Kirk, yay! Now, if I get the Luanne, is that just a skin for th character, because I don’t have her, so not sursure it’s worth it. I really really want Witch Marg, though, so not sure.
Squirrel Luann is just a skin, I learned the hard way. I received her from the mystery box but I don’t have her regular character so she’s locked in my inventory! I’m definitely bummed.
So I have a neighbor who has over 44,000 film strips, and every craftsble item already. Is he hacking? Or possibly just spending tons of donuts?
Hard to say…hacking is such a broad term these days.
A year ago I spent 225 for the necronomicon, that’s a bit cheaper. I don’t regret it, I love it. I was looking at having burns there this whole event, now he’s officially stuck at the MAG office.
Anybody else still not getting many of the fast beasts? I’ve noticed my b game is flooded with them but my real game only has 2 or 3 running around every time I check. As a result, one game is thousands behind the other…
Okay quick question… I just received the ability to buy Suzanne and the gingerbread house in the store. But are some other older THOH items/characters coming back too? (Apart from the mystery box stuff) Trying to figure out how to spend my doughnuts, cause I’ve wanted the Space mutant since last year.
There are a load of them. As in Tons. I would hold off for a bit. None of the good ones are limited time. At least for me…Suzanne is one of the lesser “must have” characters.
Would any of them be of the ghostly nautical vessel persuasion?

SAVE THEM! There are a lot of bundles coming out, plus new items! If you look on google you can find a tsto wiki page that has spoiler so you can plan ahead
This is one of the reasons I wish there were a “donut-free” version of this game for those of us who can’t buy donuts and it costs a very high percentage of the ones you get for free for everything.
Definitely not buying any mystery boxes! I’d only buy something if I knew what I was getting! 😉
I would buy three of items if separate but will hold off because I do not want things I cannot use. Wish EA would listen to this. Thanks for the post.
