Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Ah the long awaited, much requested, Crafting post….
Love it or hate it, EA has proven over the last couple of years that crafting is here to stay. While the prizes themselves are pretty self explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”. Crafting requires some self direction. You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly. Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not. And, as with all things, for some events crafting is easier than others.
Now I know some of you still have questions about what to craft, if you should craft or Level Up, what happens in future Acts…so, as we’ve done in the past, we’re here to break it all down for you. So let’s take a look at the basics of Crafting for the entire event.
As always we’ll start with the basics…
When Does Crafting Start?
Crafting unlocks after you’ve completed Mad Monsters: Furry Road Pt. 5. At this point you’ll get a quest called Monster Candy, started by Bart. This will unlock the..
Medieval Rich House- Free, 6×11 in size
This house unlocks the ability for Kids to Trick or Treat for Obols (the crafting currency) and Film Strips
Once you’ve completed Monster Candy you’ll unlock a quest started by Lisa called How Much is that Warewolf in the Window, this will unlock the..
Medieval Construction Yard- Free, 8×9 in size
The Construction Yard is what triggers crafting to unlock.
How Do I Access the Crafting Menu?
Just like every other event the Crafting Menu is accessible via the Event Hub.
The purple monster like trophy is your event hub. Click on it and you’ll access your event hub for this event.
From there you want to find the crafting Icon, third one down on the left, that looks like this:
Tap on it and that’ll bring up your Crafting Menu (Also known as the Construction Yard):
You can also access your Crafting Menu (the quick way) by tapping on your Construction Yard in Springfield…
When Does Crafting End?
Crafting is avaialble for the ENTIRE event. You read that right…the ENTIRE event. So you have until November 15th to craft everything!
Plenty of time…so take your time.
What Is the Crafting Currency?
So it’s 1 crafting currency for the ENTIRE Event.
The crafting currency for the event is Obols:
How Do I Earn Crafting Currency?
So as many of you have pointed out…Obols are not exactly plentiful in this event. But keep in mind Crafting is for the ENTIRE event…so there’s no rush to craft or level up. Build up as many Obols as you can and then craft/level up at your pace.
Are are the ways you can earn Obols in this event:
-Randomly appear when tapping Feral Monsters, along with Event Currency.
-Trick-or-Treating Tasks at the Rich House for the Kids, along with Event Currency
-Prize Tracks in the Acts
-MAG Prize Tracks
It’ll be a grind for this event…but keep at it they’ll continually build up.
What’s the Deal With the Crafting Levels? What do They Do? And Should I Level Up or Craft?!
So with this update, similar to the Casino and Sci-Fi update, there are Levels for crafting. Unlocking each level will unlock a new item to Craft.
Leveling up will cost you Obols
. Now here’s an aspect I’m really happy they continue from Sci-Fi…you do NOT have to choose between Leveling up and Crafting. The Obols you spend to Craft items will count towards the Obols needed to Level up! (Take note…many of you didn’t realize this during the Sci-Fi Event and therefore didn’t use your crafting currency efficiently)
What does this mean? Well basically if it costs 600
to move up to the next level, and you want to craft Iron Walls (which cost 20
each)..you don’t have to decide between Leveling up and Crafting. Simply craft the Iron Walls and 20
will be deducted from the 600
required to Level Up.
So you DO NOT have to decide between Leveling Up and Crafting, because you’ll Level Up WHILE you Craft!
So How Many Levels Are There? How Many
Does It Cost to Level Up?
Currently there are 15 Levels. Here’s a cost chart:
You start at Level 1, so that’s not included here
Some of you are confused with this chart. This chart shows the cost to LEVEL UP, not the cost to purchase the items. The item cost is in the breakdown below…NOT in this chart
Note: You’ll notice these numbers to level up are lower than they were in the Halloween is Live rundown post. There was a recent patch that went in and adjusted the numbers…nice to see EA making things a little more doable for everyone 🙂
And no, unfortunately it’s not a running total. You’ll need 5,200
to level up completely. So craft wisely my friends.
So now that we know HOW to craft let’s talk about what you can craft and the items details for each…starting with Level 1..
points are earned for some items, it’s noted below how many. Points are earned on item placement, so if you store it without placing it points will not be earned.

My Personal Opinion on Craftables…
Don’t kill yourself. Most of this stuff is just decorations and really unimpressive. (Shipwreck is a bit of a letdown) Craft what you like/think you can use in your town…but really nothing is worth kill yourself over.
Best item? Probably the Catacombs, since it earns income and comes with a task for Bart.
Beyond the Catacombs I would say the Pyre and Bats are the next two fun ones. Everything else, to me anyway, is meh.
So again…don’t kill yourself trying to get all this stuff. Sometimes less is more. Craft what you have use for in Springfield….don’t think you have to get the Shipwreck because it’s the last item, so therefore it’s the best. Because it’s really not.
Hope that helps some of you who have been stressing out over crafting!
And there you have it my friends…the details behind Halloween 2016 Crafting!
What are your thoughts on crafting for the Halloween Event? Which items are you digging? Which would you pass on? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

For those new to the bramble hedges, here’s a tip about why they can be useful…unlike most other types of fencing, they only take up one square, depth-wise. So they’re great for fencing off an area, like if you want to use boundaries for Kwik-E-Mart farming to make the laying out go faster. (The only other fence that I think was like that was the fencing from the wild west event, and I’m not even sure about that.) They don’t even look that noticeably spooky if you don’t tap them, so you can use them for general decoration (especially if you’re partially obscuring them with other stuff).
I noticed when I crafted my first Forest Grove, I couldn’t decide where to place it as it was much larger than expected, so I put it in my inventory. When it came time to craft my second one, I made the space and placed it in my town. I then realised because the message still said “Number You Can Craft Towards MAG: 2” that the 2nd one was in storage, so I made more space and placed it, earning the expected MAG points. The message then changed to indicate no more MAG points could be earned – just as per all previous items crafted.
I then placed both Forest Groves into my storage and then the message changed back to: “Number You Can Craft Towards MAG: 2”. Does this mean that while I have them in storage, any future purchases generate MAG points?
(Given how hard these Obols are to acquire, I’m not willing to waste/test this until I have finished crafting all items on the prize track).
I just came here to see if anyone else noticed that too. I stored 3 of my pyres and saw that it said I could still earn MAG points upon placement. Well, I made another and got more mag points. Seems like a pretty neat loophole if you want to craft fences or something.
I’ve seen others saying that.
Didnt work for me though :c
yeah, I tried that too and it didn’t work. I stored a fence, made and placed another, and got no MAG points for it. Not a big loss, only 20 obols, and I want more fencing. But I don’t think the loophole exists.
Confirmed – I ended up doing the same thing (prior to reading this). No additional MAG points awarded.
I’m finding the obols are getting easier to earn as the event progresses. It’ll take some time to get that cave, though!
Great post Alissa & thanks.
I usually log in 4 times a day but cannot see myself earning enough obols to obtain all the items. The prize track no problem but asking 1000 obols for the shipwreck is frankly a total joke.
However as you said it’s not worth stressing out about, I’ll just see how far I can get.
Spooky Brambled got a great animation – female ghost popping out. I got all 6 for a choir like effect. Recommended of the bats and pyres. Cheap too, I would add.
I’m sure in previous events where it says a certain quantity of the crafting items counts towards something, that if you crafted that amount, the text would disappear so you know you earned all you can for it
I’ve crafted over the amount of Iron Walls, but it still says that the first eight count earn MAG Points, which is confusing as I would rather only buy the max amount required of each item, and so I have to keep a manual record as I don’t want to waste the Obols
Did you place them after crafting them?
I thought I was having that problem too but when I took them out of storage to actually PLACE them, I was awarded the points and the wording changed on the craft menu. Hope that’s the case in your game 🙂
Unfortunately, it doesn’t count them down for you. (i.e. first 8 awards 20 MAG points, then after crafting one, next 7 awards 20 MAG points, then next 6 awards 20 MAG points…etc.). It would be EXTREMELY helpful if it did keep track and count down, especially with the ability to craft multiples all at once. I had forgotten that I had already crafted a few walls and used the multiple thing to build 8 (because it said I was supposed to get 20 MAG points each for the first 8 walls). I only got MAG points for 5 of them and had wasted the Obols on the other 3. If it had counted down, I would have known I only get MAG for the next 5 walls, and would have used the multiples thing to craft only 5 walls.
Also, the reason it’s still saying the “first 8 awards 20 MAG points..”, after you’ve already crafted 8 walls, is probably because you put them in storage after crafting. It’s a text glitch that displays that “first 8 awards….” message again if you put even 1 of the 8 (or more) walls in storage. I wish EA would fix both of these issues. They are causing A LOT of confusion. I’m seeing many comments on here about/because of these problems.
I’m not sure where else to ask, but would your page consider a Halloween ‘show off’? I would love to see pictures of other Halloween towns. 🙂
This site almost always does an event-related show-off, but usually closer to the end of the event (or just after), so that people have time to earn the prizes, and make whatever purchases they want, and include them in their designs.
Awesome 🙂
Wow i expected the craftable items such as ruins and sunken ship to payout at least. Good thing i saw this. I might just save all my coins for spooky houses now
Is anyone else missing the Town Square? I know I got it (1st Act 1 prize) and remember placing it, but can’t find it anywhere in my town or in inventory. i even have behind and under things. It might have been missing for a while, although I suspect when Act 2 started. I’ve already tried logging out and then back in. On iPhone, iOS 9.
Hi Alissa, quick question.
So, I just want to know if my game’s “level-up” numbers have been properly adjusted. Mine currently shows 490 Obols to get Level 10–>11.
If i’m reading your chart correctly, this is the updated upgrade numbers?
(thanks to all the Addicts staff for all the countless hours working on this site!)
I love the Pyre. I put them behind certain buildings (like the one already on fire we got in the superhero event, and the hell-school house) to make it look like more flame coming from them.
I really like the brambles’ animation. Spooky!
What is the amount of kitsch for they hay cart?
This is off topic and I’m sorry. I just got the covered bridge prize. It may be one of the most useless prizes ever. You can’t put it across water. So you basically have a bridge that just sits in the grass. If anyone comes up with a good design for this I’d love to hear it.
I came up with a pretty decent design that I’m happy with … You can visit my town to see it or would you like me to post a picture ? My user name is shameezden329
Lol thanks for the laugh. What junk!
http://imgur.com/a/13pyA
I just popped over to ask the same thing. I was excited to have a new bridge to put on water, but now I just have a useless waste of space.
I also was looking forward to the covered bridge. Yeah what good is it if it can’t span over water !
Same here. Check this out https://www.flickr.com/photos/145263090@N07/shares/t02Yzh
Now *that* makes sense! Thank you! I may steal that idea (or just keep the bridge in my inventory, where it currently resides…).
What covered bridge? What’s that? Oh… I stored it.
I was amazed the bridge couldn’t be used for over water, anyhow I have turned it lengthwise and used it as the base for the entrance of The Kwikimart Head office so it is a bridge to the path.
If someone has asked, please forgive the repeat – I love the Bad Dream House…I want to animate – what does one do to get the house a rockin??
Either the Babysitter Bandit or Raphael
Store the Googoplex (if you have it) then place it next to the BDH. That releases Wise Guy. Tap him and select “Check The Plumbing” a 12 hour task. Enjoy! In the past, several characters had a task to “sleep in the bad dream house” that would light it up, but that has been removed. Not a good move on EA`s part as we paid for it and should be able to enjoy it easier, especially during Halloween. That easy task was available last year for a short time for Halloween, but then removed, again… I think this is one of the most enjoyable animations in the game.
+LynnzThe 315 is the mag points , The cost is 700 obols for the cave 🙂
In the crafting picture, theres a image of a wind mill or something, but can’t find it to craft? 🙂
“More creepy trees with eyes”……just made me chuckle. Now back to the Obol grind☃…..💜X
Wish there had been a community prize or prizes in this event that we could all earn by working together
Remember to clear the handshakes in your Krustyland….some of you have nothing left to tap
👻 🎃 💀 🎃 😃 🇬🇧
What is this…Krustyland…that you speak of? 😉
I’ll be honest, didn’t know you could visit it and place cameras during the event. Seems like I only had one friend doing that.
Krustyland is where I do my best visiting…… it’s quicker to load than anybody’s main town, so over 80 neighbours it can save 30 mins
(So long as there’s something to tap)
👻 💀 🎃 😃 🇬🇧
I have heard of Krustyland… Isn`t that is the place you go after winning the Super Bowl? Your one friend must have taken advantage of paying over $100,000 for a private wedding at the Magic Castle after the place closes down at night. You really have an “Upper Crust” friend!
I’m finding the crafting to be pretty well paced. It holds you back a little but there’s a long way to go. Get the feeling I’ll end the event with Obols to spare.
Of course jumped on Gil’s “deal”. The swamp looks great.
Has anyone figured out the math on the most efficient path of item crafting in order to get to level 15, while earning the most MAG points possible?
I’m not buying anything that doesn’t earn mag points until I reach the top.
I’m working on earning another 500 obols to get the cave now.
The storing item thing can fool you – but it doesn’t work (unless EA fixed it). I’m still waiting to unlock the forest cave all other mag items have been maxed 🙁
FYI the pyre looks great on the beach. I’m not a design guy (cram as much as possible into every single square), but bonfire anyone?
I guess I’m just frustrated at the sheer amount of grinding involved in the events these days. The price point on some of these items seem to test a player’s willpower to not dig between the couch cushions for spare change to buy donuts instead of maybe food, pay bills, etc., just to get the cooler looking items. Some crafting items for this event, I already have plenty sitting in storage, while others I’d like to get but the Obol distribution is very stunted.
I’m not really trying to get MAG levels up for the upgraded gate, but for the Obols and TOTers.
Again, there should be quests for characters to do to get event currency beyond the 4 hour wash-rinse-repeat, but it seems the EA writers are running out of ideas to keep players engaged in their events. They truly are enablers to addiction with tempting items that require donuts they don’t have.
Cardboard sign to hold up at the street corner “Need donuts to buy decorations, any help is appreciated.”
*cackles!*
Do not buy donuts instead of paying your bills or buying food …… it’s just a game!
(I am NOT a qualified addiction counselor)
🎃 😃 🇬🇧
I accidentally spent almost 300 Obels leveling up the construction yard, didn’t hit cancel in time 😧😭‼️ Nothing to ask. I just wanted to share my pain. Beware of that rush button!
Read everything properly before tapping it…….
We live & learn
🎃 😃 🇬🇧
I’m working on the forest cave. My game has the cost at 700. Your chart has it at 315, but the breakdown on each item above reads 700. Was 315 the number of MAG points, or did I not get the update that lowered the cost? I would hate to waste almost 400 crafting that item if it has been lowered in cost. Thanks!
Mine’s listed at 700 cost and 315 MAG reward as well.
Also, anyone else notice the Mortician’s Carriage is just a return of an item from the Wild West event? Little bit disappointing there, and I doubt I’ll craft it unless I need to for a quest.
It’s just a typo. It costs 700 obols and gives you 315 MAG when placed.
I am working on the cave as well. The cost is 700 and awards 315 MAG points.
I was confused about this, too. It’s still 700 for the forest cave (I was hoping it got lowered). 315 obols is what it costs in spending to get to the next level of your crafting to unlock those items.
700 is the correct cost. The 315 further up is how much obol it takes to get from level 9 to level 10 for crafting.
The 315 is the number of obols you’ll have to spend/craft to unlock that item once you pass the streetlamp.
Thanks everyone! I just got 705 obols, so I’ll craft it. Don’t really want it as it looks too similar to Carl’s dad’s cave, but need those MAG points!
I have multiples of many of these items from last year which makes it easier to pass up items and move on to higher levels. I have the bramble hedges around almost all of my mansions from last year. They look spectacular. Maybe I’ll craft more towards the end of the event. I may have to create Spooky Town #2 for all the new items because expanding my original from last year would take too much time. I do love Halloween though.
Questions:
Can you craft more than one Ruin?
The Haycart is the only one which mentions Krustyland. Can any other craftables go there? I think that would be a great place for multiples or Spooky Town#2
I don’t know if any others can go in Krusty land but, I believe the Cart will have an effect on the Krusty land rating 🙂
Surely it doesn’t matter how many items you pass on, you still have to spend obols anyhow to progress through the levels ?
Yes, but you don’t have to spend them to craft returning items…with the exception of the very few unique items, you can just craft more of the new ones. I’ve been able to level up through the track by mostly just crafting the items that earn MAG points, and have only had to craft a few additional of those items after they stop earning MAG points.
I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this already, I apologize if someone did, but you can also earn Obols via a random daily challenge.
DOOGLER- Yes! I’ve been awarded a couple @ 60 Obols each. They are a rarity tho. I gained one per Act….💜X
Well you are lucky then, so far had only one 30 prize. Had plenty of 350 currency though which is still useful.
Loving this year’s thoh so many good item’s to craft that add to making a really cool spooky ville plus with last year’s stuff you can mix it all up! Hope i have enough room to pull off what i want. Definitely need more spooky grooves and brambles though!
Best. Post. Ever.
