Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Looks like we’ve got ourselves an in-game update on our hands. This time we’re celebrating Chinese New Year!
This is an in-game update…nothing to download from the App Store. It should download into your game automatically and start up with some dialogue between Lisa and Homer, this will be followed by a 4hr Task for 3 Simpsons to Clean.
If you don’t see the dialogue launch try hard closing your game…if that doesn’t work restart your device. And of course make sure you’re in an area where you can download (ie Data over your phone or Wifi)
Going through the update now myself…but I’ll be back shortly with more info… More info below the fold…
So, as always, let’s start with the basics and what’s new in the store…
This event ends January 31st. So it’s 6 days…not very long. This tells me it’s a placeholder, “filler”. Something to keep us busy tapping until they’re ready to launch their next event.
So keep that in mind when you’re frustrated over the lack of items offered….
Here’s what’s new in the store…
Chinese Lantern- $5,000
Chinese Junk- 75 Donuts, Earns a 2.5% bonus on all cash and XP.
Giant Takeout Box- 50 Donuts, Earns a 2.75% bonus on all cash and XP.
Great Wall- 60 Donuts, Build a wall around Springfield! Main Tower offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP. Side walls do not offer a bonus. (Am I the only one laughing that this was introduced today, of all days. Seriously can’t stop laughing about it…)
Dragon Bundle- 100 Donuts, Red, White & Yellow Dragon Decorations. Each Dragon offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP…so 6.75% bonus for all 3. (Good deal for those seeking to increase their XP Bonus)
*Bonus % as indicated in the files, does not show in the game menu. I will verify for the SIB posts for each via the in-game Bouns %.
Questline…
Right now the questline is 3 parts, with a note that it will continue on January 28th (Saturday). Since it’s a super short initial questline, I’ve included the Turbo Tappin’ Version here:
Year of the Rooster Pt. 1
Auto starts
Make Simpsons Clean- x3. 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp Freemium and $260, 70xp Premium.
Year of the Rooster Pt. 2
Homer starts
Place Chinese Lanterns- x3. $5,000 each.
Make Homer and Flanders Practice Being a Dragon- 1hr, Earns $140, 34xp
Year of the Rooster Pt. 3
Homer starts
Make Homer Sample Chinese Beers- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Lisa Admire Decorations- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Marge Prepare Chinese Food- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
And that’s it for now my friends. A simple, small little update bringing a little culture to Springfield! Could this update lead to a “romp around the world” like the App Store description suggests? Only time will tell..or stayed tuned to a future post where we analyze what the files are currently telling us… 😉

Ok, ok, let’s not get too carried away.
But a junk another boat……can go next to my Chinese submarine base.
Visit them everyday and tap on their buildings, eventually you’ll collect enough money and donuts from them that technically you could say that they paid for it.
FYI – For The Year of the Rooster Pt1 you can send Mooch Bart, Hugo, Future Lisa, and Mona in addition to Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa. Hope that helps others that are also working on Heights and Railyard right now.

These decorations are nice but a little over priced for what they offer.
So is this the “romp around the world” or do you think that is a full blown around the world event (which everyone was hoping for)? EA like to misguard us with their teasers so wouldn’t be surprised if this was their “romp around the world”
It might be a precursor but I’m hoping this is just the portion of the iceberg we currently see… so yeah… I’m hoping for a Titanic event that doesn’t crash like it’s namesake.

We just watched the episode set in China on the weekend. I had finally gotten rid of the “when we wake the world will end” ear worm and this happens….
The giant takeout box also gives you your “fortune” like a very sarcastic fortune cookie! Quite funny so far. Great Wall allows you to build more walls or towers. Dragons look good, tall but fairly small footprint (4 x 4). Passed on junk so far, seems a lot for % and water is already crowded, but I might cave in the next few days!
Scrap that, lasted about 10 mins before I caved and got the junk….. so little will power!
I bought everything, even an extra junk. Looking forward to building some walls and towers. Good mini update in my opinion, some really nice stuff there.
My money is counting down rather than counting up from buildings & tasks. I reached over 2 billion dollars, then it started counting down. There is a minus symbol before the dollar amount. Anyone else have this problem? How might I fix it? Thanks
You got to spend more money now to bring it below 2B. And slow down your income earning
KEM/Bloodmobile/Rat Trap Delivery Truck buy/sell is a good way to solve your problem.
Just bought the Dragon bundle and yes, there is a 2.25% bonus for each! Also, they’re animated (they cry rainbows!) so, a great buy, is a shame you can buy only one bundle!….

Myself included! Really disappointed with the wall piece’s as their is only 3 and you can’t buy more would of bought another 2 set’s just so i could of had a decent size run. What a waste of time and effort nice one EA see your back to normal.

Ahhh!! Roll back glitch! Items are not in the store anymore and the Simpons are no longer cleaning house. The lanterns I bought are gone too (along with my money).
Forced closed and restarted the game. Everything back to normal. Simpsons back on task and the Lanterns I bought are back also. Sorry for the freak out.
Contact EA…there’s always a victim every update. So. Frustrating.

So now we got to wait 12 years for the Year of the Monkey to return (or 11 years…) idk.

I am disappointed- I did the update, started the 4 hour task. It’s an hour later & I’m ready to play again.
Warning! I bought the dragon bundle because I thought they were cute and little, and would look great in the flower garden of my Buddhist temple. Each dragon is ENORMOUS! (That could be a good thing, depending what you want to do with them.)

I’ve hit my item limit cap again, can’t even buy a lantern 🙁
Can’t you store some items? IIRC, it only counts items in Springfield, not items in your storage…
I love my town though. It’s really hard to store stuff you’ve worked hard on and it’s so frustrating having to go through your town and choose things to store or sell.
If you make your buildings transparent(use the “shut eye” option), I bet you will find many items that are now covered up and can be stored…trees, fence pieces, etc…..hope this helps.
Year of the Roster and nothing but 3 dragons a take out box 2.75% and a chinese junk 2.50% not bad but don’t really need it. The Wall is a nice idea but only if you have the land to put it on and build. So far it’s a pass on all the items for me.
Love the little bits and bobs of things to do all the time! Keeps the game interesting while waiting on the next big update to drop!

Same, cause I was gonna be distracted by the New Year celebration in my community I put almost everyone in 24hs tasks, Bart’s gonna have to take the slack for his whole family…
Lucky me, I just finished all my tasks, so I was in time to sent the whole Simpson family to the cleaners 🙂

When sending Simpsons to clean, you could also send Hugo, Future Bart, Mona, Abe, and even Homer’s Vegas wife Amber. If you can free up any three of those you can complete this first part.
No new characters (yet). Only decorations. Five premium and one freemium. Nice to have a new event, but my opinion so far is MEH!
It’s only 6 days…it’s “filler” to get us to February (and likely valentine’s day)
And an attempt from EA to spend donuts for what most people will say PASS, but I not most people 🙂
