Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Looks like we’ve got ourselves an in-game update on our hands. This time we’re celebrating Chinese New Year!
This is an in-game update…nothing to download from the App Store. It should download into your game automatically and start up with some dialogue between Lisa and Homer, this will be followed by a 4hr Task for 3 Simpsons to Clean.
If you don’t see the dialogue launch try hard closing your game…if that doesn’t work restart your device. And of course make sure you’re in an area where you can download (ie Data over your phone or Wifi)
Going through the update now myself…but I’ll be back shortly with more info… More info below the fold…
So, as always, let’s start with the basics and what’s new in the store…
This event ends January 31st. So it’s 6 days…not very long. This tells me it’s a placeholder, “filler”. Something to keep us busy tapping until they’re ready to launch their next event.
So keep that in mind when you’re frustrated over the lack of items offered….
Here’s what’s new in the store…
Chinese Lantern- $5,000
Chinese Junk- 75 Donuts, Earns a 2.5% bonus on all cash and XP.
Giant Takeout Box- 50 Donuts, Earns a 2.75% bonus on all cash and XP.
Great Wall- 60 Donuts, Build a wall around Springfield! Main Tower offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP. Side walls do not offer a bonus. (Am I the only one laughing that this was introduced today, of all days. Seriously can’t stop laughing about it…)
Dragon Bundle- 100 Donuts, Red, White & Yellow Dragon Decorations. Each Dragon offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP…so 6.75% bonus for all 3. (Good deal for those seeking to increase their XP Bonus)
*Bonus % as indicated in the files, does not show in the game menu. I will verify for the SIB posts for each via the in-game Bouns %.
Questline…
Right now the questline is 3 parts, with a note that it will continue on January 28th (Saturday). Since it’s a super short initial questline, I’ve included the Turbo Tappin’ Version here:
Year of the Rooster Pt. 1
Auto starts
Make Simpsons Clean- x3. 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp Freemium and $260, 70xp Premium.
Year of the Rooster Pt. 2
Homer starts
Place Chinese Lanterns- x3. $5,000 each.
Make Homer and Flanders Practice Being a Dragon- 1hr, Earns $140, 34xp
Year of the Rooster Pt. 3
Homer starts
Make Homer Sample Chinese Beers- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Lisa Admire Decorations- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Marge Prepare Chinese Food- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
And that’s it for now my friends. A simple, small little update bringing a little culture to Springfield! Could this update lead to a “romp around the world” like the App Store description suggests? Only time will tell..or stayed tuned to a future post where we analyze what the files are currently telling us… 😉

I’ve been resisting a donut purchase but I’m afraid I can no longer…must have all the CNY items!
Is there a limit to how many walls and towers that can be generated? Or can you generate as many as you like, I might buy it if this is the case, thanks. 🙂
I’m just glad they finally got rid of Ice Princess Martin’s task….
My characters all seem to have a locked Eat Chinese Banquet task that requires a quest. Is that linked to one of the items or may there be more to this mini event than meets the eye?

I kind of regret buying the Great Wall. The wall pieces are enormous and awkwardly shaped.
It is a good representation of th real Great Wall of China.
Oh no, I’m not building up a City Wall just to have a bunch of stupid Mongorians break it down!

The translators did themselves proud again – in the german version they translated “junk” with trash. So now I can buy Chinese Trash to put into the ocean 😉

For those that don’t know (yet) the Great Tower can be used to build more towers and more walls.
Good to know – I’d read about the walls, but then wondered what that would look like with only one tower….
So disappointed that Homer and Ned’s task to practice being a dragon isn’t a visual task! What fun is that??

Well yeah but I meant “real money”. I’m at the point in the game where in game cash is plentiful.
In TSTO I consider donuts rEAl money
(On the other hand, I craft all my donuts. If I hadn’t done that, I would have maxed out my game cash stack at 2 billion)

I bought everything. It would appear that you can buy more than one Chinese Junk too-though I bought only one. I think it all looks great in my town.

Hi Ebron, I like how you have designed your squidport, I also had a look when I visited your town earlier today,it looks very nice. So I bought the dragons too 😀 I think they look cute 😛 the only thing that would be better is if the dragons rotated in all 4 directions.. I’m working on a design in my town with them to go with the fortune box, but my fortune box only has vegetarian items in it, sorry sailors.. 😛 -kitty 🐱🌸🌟

They can be generated, similar to Squidport Tiles.
They all cry rainbow tears, and the red one plays a violin like instrument when tapped
