TSTO – a 2016 Tapping Year In Review

Initially, I was pleased that Alissa tasked me with writing the “Year in Review” post. And then I realized that as more of a “Critical Review” that takes into account the good and the bad, it is actually easier for someone who is opinionated to write it. Alissa is very nice…and for the most part wants everyone to get along and be happy. I don’t mind that some (many/most) people may not agree with everything I write. I get it. These are personal opinions at best, as we have found out in this Holiday/Winter/Christmas/Pagan event.

Let’s face it. There are some people who LOVE everything that EA does (they don’t call him HappyTapper for nothing!). And others that are a tad more critical (I will refrain from naming names at this point). But, we all experience the same updates in the same way, through our own Tapping Lenses…which makes all of this subjective at best.

So…taking into account that this overview is just my opinion, and that you are perfectly free to disagree with me (although I secretly want you to agree with me so I feel ratified and relevant), LET’S LOOK BACK ON THE YEAR THAT WAS… IN TSTO.

TSTO Anonymous: 2016 Hangover Feelings and How To Recover

Bet that title got your attention, huh? Phew… what a year. There’s been celebrations and headaches afterwards sort of like a real New Year’s party. You know… the kind where you stay up to late, kiss a stranger at midnight, and then wake up wondering why you made THAT resolution. With the end of 2016 on the horizon and one heck of an event ending, I figured it was time for another meeting of TSTO Anonymous so welcome! What is TSTO Anonymous? Well, it’s our version of a support meeting (said with my tongue in my cheek) that has turned into a nice thing we do occassionally just to give folks a positive message or a place to commiserate. You can find previous meetings here. While these meetings don’t happen as frequently as a fuzzball would like, I can always plug the the Sunday Open Threads as fill-in sessions when I can’t think of topics or life/game stuff is too busy to hold one. Jebus knows you Addicts like to congregate and chat about all sorts of stuff. Anyhoo… it’s time to fire up the simulated coffee pot, prop the door open with a lucky red hat, and get this meeting started. Pull up a chair, grab a Wookiee cookie, and let’s get this show on the road.

I hesitated to open up this can of worms again, but the final frames of the this update pushed me over the edge. And while I thought it would be funny to do a “fake news” post about angry TSTO players leaving sheep’s heads at the gates of EA headquarters in San Francisco in protest, I thought better of it. After all…if two major countries can get into a recent preemptive twitter showdown over nuclear power over a fake news article, there is no telling what would happen if I fomented the fires of passion over this less-than-holiday update, and the final poke in the heart thrown out by the EA/Gracie programmers.

Instead, I will simply add a P.S. to the previous “venting letters” I wrote, which allowed you to write “I agree” in response, to get your emotions quelled and back to a “happy place” in the update.

Before I start, I want to re-emphasize that I do not have any issue with the basic concept of “trying something different” as it pertains to a “Winter/Holiday” update. And yes, while there are billions of Christians who lay claim to this time of year by nature of annual credit card debt, it doesn’t mean that the “hundreds of thousands of practising Wiccans around the globe” (according to WIKI) should be ignored.

However, as I will point out in the “P.S.” to EA, there are still limitations to how far we are to be pushed outside the realm of good taste and common sense.

New Year Quest and What’s Next

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just popping in real quick with a little info. As some of you noticed this morning, the main questline and ability to earn prizes from the Winter Event has left our games. (not 100% sure if we’ll get an even removal update…my thoughts are likely not until later) However, the Gnome in Your Home game, and Mystery Box, remains. So continue to plug away at that Gnome and earn those tickets, as that will leave our games on the 3rd.

Also, you may have noticed a little questline that started up between Homer and Grampa Simpson. This is NOT Act 3. This is a short 1 part questline for the New Year, with a silly animated task for Grampa. When it’s all over, Grampa will still have the 4hr task to celebrate the New Year…

And if you don’t already have it, you’ll get the New Year’s Eve Ball as a gift from EA. (if you already have it you’ll just get a Happy New Year message)..

And that’s it for now. The next MINI Event (Homer the Heretic, as is already teased in the game), will hit our games on the 3rd (as is indicated in the files). This will also not be Act 3. This is a Mini Event. The Winter Event is over. There will be no mystery/hidden Act 3. This is it guys. It’s onto the next adventure in 2017…

But stay tuned to TSTO Addicts over the next few days as we recap 2016 and prepare for 2017! Including some fun posts coming later today…

The snow is falling in Springfield, which can only mean Winter has arrived in our pocket-sized towns! And is in full swing on our devices.

In a change of pace, this Event is broken up into just 2 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story. To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act. Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event. For the Second Act you’re tasked with collecting Brooches () to unlock each prize!

The seventh, and final, Act 2 Prize awarded at 74,950 is Star Snowsuit Maggie (& Sacrifice Your Sheep to Odin), because it’s about damn time Maggie got her iconic costume…

So let’s take a closer look at this seventh prize and just what happens when you unlock him in your Springfield…

It’s snowing in Springfield and that can only mean one thing…Winter has arrived!

As part of the 2016 Winter Event, the Wiccans were a premium trio of characters in our stores. And they came with their own questline to work your way through.

Remember that the Wiccans can help earn event currency, so it’s ok to hold off on doing their questline until the event is over. It’ll still be there to work on once the event is gone. So hold off until you’re ready.

So let’s take a look at the Wiccan questline to see just what happens when they arrive in Springfield…
