Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Looks like we’ve got ourselves an in-game update on our hands. This time we’re celebrating Chinese New Year!
This is an in-game update…nothing to download from the App Store. It should download into your game automatically and start up with some dialogue between Lisa and Homer, this will be followed by a 4hr Task for 3 Simpsons to Clean.
If you don’t see the dialogue launch try hard closing your game…if that doesn’t work restart your device. And of course make sure you’re in an area where you can download (ie Data over your phone or Wifi)
Going through the update now myself…but I’ll be back shortly with more info… More info below the fold…
So, as always, let’s start with the basics and what’s new in the store…
This event ends January 31st. So it’s 6 days…not very long. This tells me it’s a placeholder, “filler”. Something to keep us busy tapping until they’re ready to launch their next event.
So keep that in mind when you’re frustrated over the lack of items offered….
Here’s what’s new in the store…
Chinese Lantern- $5,000
Chinese Junk- 75 Donuts, Earns a 2.5% bonus on all cash and XP.
Giant Takeout Box- 50 Donuts, Earns a 2.75% bonus on all cash and XP.
Great Wall- 60 Donuts, Build a wall around Springfield! Main Tower offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP. Side walls do not offer a bonus. (Am I the only one laughing that this was introduced today, of all days. Seriously can’t stop laughing about it…)
Dragon Bundle- 100 Donuts, Red, White & Yellow Dragon Decorations. Each Dragon offers a 2.25%* bonus on all cash and XP…so 6.75% bonus for all 3. (Good deal for those seeking to increase their XP Bonus)
*Bonus % as indicated in the files, does not show in the game menu. I will verify for the SIB posts for each via the in-game Bouns %.
Questline…
Right now the questline is 3 parts, with a note that it will continue on January 28th (Saturday). Since it’s a super short initial questline, I’ve included the Turbo Tappin’ Version here:
Year of the Rooster Pt. 1
Auto starts
Make Simpsons Clean- x3. 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp Freemium and $260, 70xp Premium.
Year of the Rooster Pt. 2
Homer starts
Place Chinese Lanterns- x3. $5,000 each.
Make Homer and Flanders Practice Being a Dragon- 1hr, Earns $140, 34xp
Year of the Rooster Pt. 3
Homer starts
Make Homer Sample Chinese Beers- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Lisa Admire Decorations- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
Make Marge Prepare Chinese Food- 2hrs, Earns $110, 27xp
And that’s it for now my friends. A simple, small little update bringing a little culture to Springfield! Could this update lead to a “romp around the world” like the App Store description suggests? Only time will tell..or stayed tuned to a future post where we analyze what the files are currently telling us… 😉

My thoughts are this is really EA just putting out more premier items. So you can buy some lanterns, big deal. This is certainly not an event & hardly even a ” filler “. So far it’s taken 7 hours to complete & they have the cheek to ask us to wait till Sat to carry on.
Sorry about the moan but come on EA there has to be a better mix of donuts / cash spend.
You WILL loose a lot of players if you continue like this.
Now the Wall Tower is not showing an xp bonus. Is something wrong or have they changed it?
Could someone tell me how many pieces of wall do you get?
I like the boat but unless I remove parts of my boardwalk it is starting to look like a seen in a movie with wall to wall boats.
You get one tower (the only one with a Chinese flag), one wall (horizontal), one wall (vertical)
Tap the tower to construct more walls and towers.
I feel empty. I only have the Chinese New Year, The Redwood and Burns’ Money Pit in my task bar. Am I stuck unless I spend real $$ on donuts?? It says I’m on level 107…
Why are you stuck? Not one of those tasks costs donuts to complete
I think it’s just because I’ve been working on the Money Pile and the Redwood for sooooooo long. I’m 2 levels away from completing the money pile and about halfway through the redwood. I’m just used to having a whole lot of tasks in my task bar and now that it’s only those two I feel like I’m not working on enough things!!

Did I miss something? I only got the tower and 2 walls. I am not seeing any more in the store.
Place the tower in your Springfield and tap on it. All will be revealed.
Does anyone have difficulty in placing corners with the walls? For some reason I can’t seem to find a way to couple them together.
I think that’s what the towers are for: to put them on the corners.
It would be the coolest thing in the game if Bart had a task to skateboard on the Great Wall like in the old Nintendo game…
I’m not getting the takeout box because it wouldn’t fit in with my town, but I was happy to discover that you can still get the fortunes by tapping the boxes in your friendvilles! 🙂
I want to thank my neighbors for being such a spendy lot…I had no problem checking out all of the new items (although the wall was the hardest to find and I’ve still only seen the tower…but I only went to a few neighbors, so I’ll look again tomorrow). I bought singe Chinese lanterns, but I don’t think I’m really tempted by any of the premium items. (Actually, if I wasn’t pretty much out of sea room, I might have bought a junk, but I am, so I won’t.)
Sandra, I put a wall in my re-worked SH around Burn’s new compound…come visit. The 🦑Port has is getting pretty “junked” up also.
The junket isn’t that large, only about the size of the tropical island that has the burning sleigh on it😊

So when you buy the tower you get a bonus %. How about when you build them? It would be nice to get the bonus % for each one.

Are they really not going to update the “Craftable Two Story Outhouses” with the bonus percentage?! I made freaking 19 of them. Seems intentionally misleading considering thats the time they added the bonus in the first place.
They’ve done this in the past, with the snow simpsons. It’s intentional. Craftable items don’t typically award bonus %

So this can’t be right… The Chinese Junk costs 25 donuts more than the takeout box, and yet has .25% less bonus percentage…?

Well, you can buy multiples of the Chinese Junk. You can only buy 1 Takeout Box. I guess that is the reason they gave Takeout Box a higher %
To each their own but none of it interests me.
I got the wall and I’m going to use it to make a barrier in heights where the new land was added cause i already had heights perfect so i’ll make a wall with forest behind it protecting the rich from the wilderness.
If you build the wall, Matt Damon will protect your town from the dragons.

Same here. Am tempted to get the wall, but I’m running out of real estate in my town, so I really need to see how it looks like first, as it’s the only CNY decoration you can’t see a preview before committing. Plus I don’t really know where to put it anyway. Would be fun if you could slap them over the mountain range.
Especially those walls are BIG! I did buy the Wall Tower and will produce a lot of walls and towers (I have about 200 castle walls in my inventory)
lol the take out box its regular size and it gives you fortunes, the dragons are way big like the wall I got all three they are really unique but big

Really considering the dragons, and maybe the takeout box. My ocean is a little full for a new boat, though. The Wall doesn’t realy have a place in my world. (Double meaning intended.)
I wonder if EA will mysteriously and obscurely pay me back the doughnuts I’ve spent for the “wall”..? i guess I’ve gotta keep an eye for when the “deal” goes down.. sometime in the future… lol😂

Not a bad little update, at least its something different and something to spend in game cash on, I will most likely stockpile the lanterns for possible future designs. I will probably buy the dragons and the takeout box.(Is the box unique or can I get more?) There could of been some buildings and characters included like Madam Wu, Kentucky Fried Panda or Bob’s Big Buddha with the update.
I’m using “alternitive simpsons” to Compleate the 1st part.
It sounds like the Great Wall will allow you to unlock additional (unlimited ?) wall pieces much like the dirt pathways ?
you can buy pieces for the wall but they are not small and you need a tower to turn a corner. it blocks out anything immediately around it, except the front of course. I wish I could get back my donuts
