Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Since the event started the Osaka Flu has been spreading through our towns faster than germs on a public drinking fountain.
So fast that over 104% of the world is infected.
I guess that means we’ve covered Earth and we’re working on Mars now….
So I figured let’s test this out, and see if any of the Addicts readers have yet to be infected by the Osaka Flu. Because in theory if the virus has spread to every Tapper on Earth (and some on Mars) than every Addict should have it. So…
And as a quick reminder from this post to get the details on how Osaka works and spreads.
And remember, to level up you need to clear pins from neighbor visits to your Springfield. So in order to level up you need neighbors to visit your Springfield. You can add neighbors via our Add Friends thread here.
What are your thoughts on the 104% infection spread rate? Has Osaka invaded your Springfield? What level are you on? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

I’m at 105.37% and level 5. It’s kinda fun but not really sure what the point is
I’ve been on 5 since somewhere past mid act 1. The flu idea is the only part that is falling short for this event. It just feels unnecessary and like a wasted opportunity. That said I love this event so I’m fully willing to overlook the lameness of the flu portion.
105.2% last I checked and I’ve been level 5 since before the second act started. I was infected on day 2 of the event.
I think it’s a cute animation. While I get tourists with the flu in my town that I can tap, I have no friends so I’ll never level up. At least I get to see the floating green germ cloud. If only I could see it in real life so that I could stay out of the way!
Add some friends, me first
I never added friends because of the complaints about freezing, crashing, and lagging. Plus, I’ve gone this long without them I’m like, “Why bother?” However, I haven’t heard any of those complaints this event. I would have thought it would have been a nightmare especially with all the new land they added. I’m glad that most everyone is able to visit their friends.
Level 5, 105.33% of the world. Dunno how much higher we can go.
Xx
I maxed out three, four(?) days ago. This morning, I cleared 9 flu infected tourists from my town. I got infected the second or third day of the event (iirc), and my husband got infected that evening (he actually felt left out when I asked him if he had the flu and he had no idea what I was talking about, lol). I am trying to figure out how we’re at 104%, since that’s mathematically impossible, but I gave up trying to understand this game a long time ago!
I’m at 996 atm. The next time I tap…that will be in a few minutes…I might get that 5th flu cloud. I kind of like this.
I like the idea, I just wish you get a prize from it.
I’m at level 5 and 1000/1000 and nothing happened.. nada, nothing, bupkis!
Pretty much a non-event as was declared by STOA from the outset.
As for the 104.5% and climbing, I’d guess that was an attempt at typical Simpsons-esque humour. To my mind, it sounds like the sort of factoid or stat you’d see presented in flamboyant fashion by a world ‘leader’ at a press conference.
The other 4% are C.H.U.D.s.
I am at level 5. It happened a couple of days ago.
105.28% here. And I’m not getting the point of this either.
So maybe the count is those who live in the Springfield universe, and the fact that it is over 100% means it’s jumped off our devices and is now spreading in the real world?
lol well i’m sick now so maybe…
I’ve really liked this aspect of the event.
It is a bit of fun on the side which has encouraged more neighbour interactions, especially at the beginning.
However, I do think that EA missed a trick by not awarding a community prize when 100% of the world became infected.
At level 5 and 105.26% of the world is infected in my game! I figured this also counted the underground dwellers at the center of the earth 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’m still a little perplexed by how this “spreads”. It appeared first in my”b” game – just hours after the event started. And that game has only my “a” game as a neighbor.
Otoh – it was a good day plus (with visits both from&to the infected “b” game) before the infection appeared in the “a” game.
(Maybe Kang/Kodos are the infection agents? Might explain the extra 5%)
…d
Couple of days ago I finished the last level. I’m actually surprised it was so easy for me. My name is nearer the end of the alphabet and I don’t expect every single neighbor to visit me (I understand that friend visits take up time, and sometimes people will just do the number of visits that gets them event currency). Maybe there will be something more to it later in the event, than just a few bits of event and crafting currency from infected tourist.
I’m not clear on what the point of the virus is, other than picking up a few extra fans every four hours. I’m at level 3, but my handle is late in the alphabet, so few people come to visit.
Ive been fully leveled up since before act 2 started. I think I was one of the first to get it as when I first got infected i ran to google and found zilch to explain what was happening to me!
I’m at 275 of 300 for level 3, I have a lot of inactive neighbors so I can visit them, but they won’t come back to do me the favour. I don’t see the point of this, does leveling op do something? Will I get more resources for tapping tourists? Also 105% now. I almost have all of the Japanese prizes though and I love this event!
Nope for leveling up, nope for extra resources…nope for “is there any point to this?”…
Yeah i also don’t understand is what it is for, i mean where already over 100% so… that means the world is infected right. Now what happens, any prizes or something to do with it coz at this point the flu spread was pointless..
Ea will pull something out of their sleeves i think and give us a sort of ‘community price’
I’m only at 387/1000, which really isn’t much. I don’t even really care bout it, because I don’t see the point and I don’t think I’ll get to 1000 anytime soon. :-/
I hit level 5 last night.
I was also wondering how it went over 100% considering there is a lot of inactive players.
Also can’t confirm it, but even before I hit level 5 I think there was 5 clouds in my town.
I’m still level one with the virus, at this rate I don’t expect to level up at all. 🙁
No worries…flu game has no prizes for leveling up…
I feel like I’m missing something. I thought we might get a prize at 100% but was obviously wrong. Does anyone know if something happens when you reach level 5? Loving this event but it’s hard to grind and visit neighbors when you don’t understand why you are doing it (beyond pins and skycards).
Yup sick since day 2

My assumption was the denominator was driven by the number of players the day this update launched and now as new players of have started playing the numerator has exceeded that original number, hence an infection rate of more than 100%. Though if it goes much higher than where it is now, I would suggest this hypothesis is not correct.
I have wondered if EA were conducting an experiment to see how long it would take to spread though it may be this has never really been calculated correctly. Do we know if on day one, just one TSTO player had the infection? A patient zero if you will.
I am completely missing the point of these. There are not prizes and the leveling up is taking much longer. From what I have been reading this is a bust for the game developers. What am I missing?
Just under 104%. Level 4 it seems like a pointless exercise so far
My wife and I got a laugh when the rate exceeded 100%. We’re like “who’s the (now) 4% that apparently isn’t on Earth.” I’m at level 4 personally, around 650/1000. I don’t have friends maxed out though. Only enough to ensure I get the maximum number of fans for visiting. I’ll get to 5 before the event ends, but it’ll be later rather than sooner.
