Well time to live life in the fast lane because we’ve got ourselves a Pin Pals Bowling Mini Event in Springfield! That’s right our pocket-sized Springfield’s have gone to the gutter….the bowling gutter that is…as we set em up to knock em down with this Bowling event!
Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks awesome because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Jacques and Fiesta Terrace to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this French Fop to your town…

Building/Decoration: Fiesta Terrace

Other Info: Fiesta Terrace can be placed on Pavement, Pier, Boardwalk and dirt…in addition to the usual grass. Jacques will not unlock in the store for you until you unlock the Pin Pal Bowling Alley.

So I know most premium players aren’t even waiting for my opinion with this one, you’ve already picked him up. It’s a nostalgic character, and he’s been requested for awhile. The downside is he’s not voiced and he’s a bit pricey. But I like this combo, despite the price tag. And I REALLY like that Fiesta Terrace earns a bonus %, in addition to income. Not a bad premium pickup.
Freemium
I would buy Jacques over the Pin Pals skins, in a heartbeat. But it is still a pricey character/building combo, especially when it doesn’t help with the event. I’d say if you’ve been wanting Jacques pick him up, but he’s certainly not a must buy. If you’re on the fence, I’d pass and save your donuts for something better.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as I premium player I can tell you I’ve picked him up (almost immediately). But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before he leaves our games for good (or for now).

It’s a good deal with the bonus and combo, but I am not sure yet. Perhaps I will wait till it returns, hopefully even as a special offer. I still have too many other interesting characters to collect 🙂
😄 By my count, Jacques is the 250th inhabitant of TSTO Springfield. 🎉 Not 100% sure tho, it’s very difficult to get an accurate count because not all jobs are shown in the unemployment office job list. Kind of a milestone, the last year the number of playable characters has exploded. Sometimes I reminisce and ruminate about way back when, when times were simpler and I only had 50 people depending on me for donuts, demanding my attention every four hours or so and constantly wandering off… 😂

I have only just begun the Pin Pals Bowling Event – I wondered if there was a reason why I can’t see Jacques and the Fiesta Terrace available yet for sale yet? You have to complete part 2 of the quest before Jacques and the building areoffered for sale.
Yes, he appears after you are further into the questline.
I was going to pass on him until I read about the 4% bonus. If we use Knightboat as a model (40 donuts for 2%), it’s almost like we’re paying 80 for a 4% bonus and we’re getting a character/building out of it for only 70 donuts.

If u wait for a special u get da knightboat for 20 donuts. I wait for the deals as u get alot more out of ur donuts. Been playing for nearly 2 yrs now and alot of the buildings and characters get recycled at a discount rate. I do KEM farming inbetween and can make 200 or so in 10 days. Once u reach 939 u can really make some bonuts. Mmm bonuts. So tap away. That remind me i must go tap. Tappy mac tap
If you use Jet Engine Bike as a model (30 donuts for 2%), THEN it’s like you’re paying 60 donuts for a 4% bonus and getting a character/building out of it for 90 donuts.
I’m still not buying Jacques though. Not a memorable or special enough character for me personally

I bought him as soon as I was able… I try to get most characters but don’t bother with skins. Unlike a lot of peeps playing the game I don’t actually watch the programme. I think I only know who about 40 or 50 of the characters are from when I watched the show with my kids back in the day.
I put the apartments in my French ,lovey dovey , romantic area. Not far from the two antifreeze wine guys place.
I’m pretty sure that when a guest voice actor voices a character in the show, he’s not gonna be voiced in game. Which is a shame, I would have loved to hear Albert Brooks or Kelsey Grammer’s voice in the game. Oh well…
Debating between him and discounted Barney. Now even more torn than I was because of the bonus. Anyone have any thoughts? Freemium and I don’t think I’ll be able to afford both before the mini event ends.
Barney, hands down.
Barney is used and has been used in many Events. As such, it is a more useful and versatile investment.
Some players support building up one’s bonus, while I agree with th concept……..
It is the Characters that create action in the game, AND
A 400% bonus with a dozen characters doesn’t mean much.

It may seem a little pricy for freemium in the beginning but I think it is not.
4% bonus alone would be two jet bikes 30 donuts each. If you deduct this you are dealing with a 90 donut character building combo which is not a bad price.
Being a farmium, I always am flush with donuts, so I bought Jacques without any hesitation.
I bought him (almost) immediately, at first I was like HOW many donuts?!?, then when I saw it earned money, bonus, Jacques, a very attractive unique building… what could be better? I know everyone wants the characters to be voiced, but 95% of the time I play with the volume off, it makes me crazy when they talk over each other & say the same thing all the time. My biggest peeve is a lack of, (or lame), outdoor tasks with a lot of the characters. I can’t believe SLH has NO outdoor tasks… he’s a dog, like wth? Probably the purchase I regret the most 😕
Thank you for the SIB. I was already leaning on “adopting” him for my Springfield – the two outside tasks with times I often use made it final.
He is pricey. But as said in another comment, as a KEM farmer the bonus-% is something I value. To be exact, when combos like this one are offered, I personally value every % with 15 donuts*, so in my head I go “60 donuts for the bonus, 70 donuts for the character – and 20 donuts for a building I would probably not buy on its own”
(*15 donuts based on the 2%-bonus Jet Engine Bike for 30 donuts, afaik the cheapest regular offer for bonus % apart from sales, limited time event items, free mini-game stuff and .. glitches)

Agreed. I would rather he was just an NPC and wandered around town sniffing things and stopping to scratch. Never see him now.
I was hoping he’d have tasks like pee on a fire hydrant, walk himself (dragging the leash behind him), get lost (wander around town), sniff butts ( my favorite idea 😂😂). So many different funny things dogs do 😊
If you don’t give Santa’s Little Helper any tasks, he will always be wandering around your town. I have enough characters at this point that I don’t need him earning cash…he is actually better as an NPC😁🐶.
Only if you’re willing to forgo using the unemployment office, which, at this point, would be too difficult for me.

I so agree with you regarding volume on or off, and double so, on SLH. I was so sad when I got him only to learn he had nothing to do outside. I keeping hoping one day EA will make an adjustment.
But, I am still happy to have him, sometimes I just let him wander task free about town 🙂
My greatest purchase regret without a doubt, is Violet and Patches. I can barely bring myself to look at them. So depressing! Maybe it is just me projecting my own issues onto them, yet either way, so wish I could sell/trade them away.

I have a French nephew whi .i really like, so I bought Jacques on the spot.
As a farmium player, I will buy every character that is available, no matter the priced.
Bummer that he’s not voiced. I had to look it up to see who was the voice in the show. It was Albert Brooks, who also did Russ Cargill (who was just added) and Hank Scorpio (who just got a new skin and was a focus of the last event). Coincidence? Probably.
He also voiced a couple of other characters who are not (yet) in the game. Here’s hoping for Cowboy Bob and his RV Roundup!
“Farmium” – great term 😀 I’ve been down to 5 donuts yesterday, buying Shorty’s first (60d->30d, for Mrs. Lovejoy’s 1h-task) then recharged xp-accelerator for another 10 days (25d), now at a rate of 15 donuts/day not regarding Maggie and daily challenges I should get him in time 😉
This is my private event I play on my own 😀
51 donuts now, 44 KEM to harvest in 3h, 4 more – I’m currently on 1h tasks for more money = KEMs (phew) 😀
“Farmium”? Love it! I’m adding that to my lexicon and will start using that from now on. I didn’t invent the term “bonuts,” but I like to think I helped popularize it here, so maybe I can do the same for “farmium” (although I don’t post quite as often here, these days, as I used to….).

“Sit on the fence and wait for something better”: What can be better than building, character and bonus %age. That’s pretty hard to beat
IF you’re on the fence… Meaning if you haven’t got it already you probably don’t want it that bad or that amount of donuts is highly valuable to you, so maybe you should wait for something you instantly want when you see it.
I hope your fence hasn’t barbed wire on top. That would really hurt 😛

I bought him instantly (although I have started to hold back buying since I know there’s always a sale or option later and I’d like to be able to buy something discounted )but then my son asked why is Sara Wiggam still not available ….
I was on the fence about this one but now I’m passing. Now I have to decide between shortys and the bowling shops.
Not having a 1-hour task for Helen Lovejoy made Shorty’s a must-buy for me when it first came out (or first came out after I had Helen), because not having one was a real pain. I don’t know if they added a different one-hour task for her a while back, when they released the unemployment office, but, if not, that could be a good reason to go with Shorty’s.
But, if you don’t need it for that, then I’d go with other option, since the ability to teleport can be very handy, once your town starts to get big..
I keep her on the four hour task to animate the She-She lounge and Ruth Powers keeps her company in there

Well, another way of looking at it, for 150 donuts you’re getting THREE items: Playable character, building that earns income, AND a 4% bonus XP&cash boost. Rounds out to be 50 donuts per ‘item’ which is a great deal. I’ll be grabbing mine in about one hour once i unlock the bowling alley. Lol
I would like to get him but after the Scorpio skin deal last event, I’m done buying full price characters right when they come out. From now on I’m only buying rebated or discounted items. I’m not buying Jacques for 150 donuts just to have him come out for 100 Black Friday or a year from now.
That is how I am viewing it. What is the point in dishing out the donuts when chances are it will come back. That and I am supremely short of donuts having bought Hank Scorpio and Lurleen last event and just buying Shortys for Mrs. Lovejoy’s 1 hr
The difference is, Scorpio isn’t a limited-time character. I could be wrong, but I think that most of the discounted deals tend to be for non-limited-time characters (like Hank and Barney)….not sure how often teeth discount limited-time characters. Plus, it could be a while before this character becomes available again.
I’ve been restricting myself from buying any non-limited-time characters unless they’re on sale (knowing that, if I really need one of them for something, I can buy it for full price anytime), but, with limited-time characters, if I want them, I buy them when they’re available, with or without a sale.

Same here. Im a freemium/farmium player & Im only buying characters when they’re offered at rebate or at discount …….. I really really want characters like Jasper, Luann & Manjula & I have the bonuts to buy them immediately now, but Im holding back because if they appear at a discount/rebate later, I know I would regret purchasing them at full price
I feel sympathetic for the people who paid full price for Shauna, Brandine, Laura Powers & Becky because I got all 4 of them in Valentine 2017 Mystery box for 60 donuts per character
Here’s hoping the next event that starts after this bowling event, comes with more discount/rebates promotions ……. I already bought Barney in the previous space event at rebate, so this event has nothing to offer me
Well, I bought Shauna, Brandine, Laura and Becky for full price, and I still don’t regret it. While you only got them a couple of month back, they were already earning their keep in my town for years, earning money, helping with events, and getting me more donuts in the process. I’m sure most of them already paid for themselves, and then some while you were waiting for a discount. It’s going to be the same with Jacques, especially since he also raises the bonus multiplier. In a year (or whenever EA decides to offer him on a sale) he can help earn quite a bit. But that’s just my opinion, to each his/her own. Plus, I also love the Jacques-episode, couldn’t say no if I wanted to 😉
Although only a freemium player I had to pick up Jaques, what a pitty he is not voiced, EA pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaase give him his voice back! I can’t bare J without his charming voice.

I picked up this combo right a way. Thought it would help in the event but found out it didn’t. Not really an issue had a ton of donuts to spend after the spy event. so what i collected in the final week paid for this combo.

Knightboats that were just available in the previous event for a net cost of 40 donuts, then Jacques and the building could be viewed as being worth 110 donuts, moving this into “must buy” territory for me.
I purchased this as soon as it became available. I’m a character collector, first, plus I have nostalgic reasons for getting this toon.
Also, I think the building will go well with the other colorful Brazilian buildings from Destination Springfield event.
