Addicts Blogiversary: All About YOU! 4 Years Later

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So here we are, 4 years and 10 days into the start of TSTO Addicts & what a wild ride it’s been!  We’ve had faces come & faces go (and some faces come back again), but through it all we’ve been your #1 go to site for TSTO info & for that we are truly thankful.

In honor of our 4 year blogiversary we asked you guys to tell us a little more about yourselves.  We wanted to learn more about who you guys are & what your tapping habits are & we wanted you guys to learn more about each other! (we’ve done this for every Blogiversary as well) And, as always, you guys came through and we learned some interesting facts about you!

As always you guys blow me away by the number of responses to the poll & I’m even more blown away by the stats!  So I’ve been tinkering away compiling all of the data and putting it all into fun graphics and charts & now the time has come to share those results with you! (and shout out to Pat for helping me with a big chunk of the graphics)  So let’s break it all down, shall we?

Curious about how things changed over the years?  You can check out the 2016 results here, 2015 results here, 2014 Results here & our 6 month results here..

First let’s take a look at the age breakdown:

Once again most of you are in your 30s and 40s, last year was the first time it shifted from 20s and 30s.  We’re all getting older together…

Much like TSTO itself, it looks like there are still more Boy Addicts around here than Girls.  We gotta get on this ladies!  Invite your friends, TSTO isn’t just for boys…remember we’ve got Shredded Ned!

I still love that so many of you are tapping, reading and working!  I’m totally one of you (especially if you add blogging to that list, considering I’m writing this post while at work lol).  And it looks like Brooders is still buying rounds for everyone at Moe’s!

Looks like most of you have been playing TSTO for over two years (or Forever!)…love love those long time tappers, just like us!  (and this makes total sense as we see the community “grow up” along with us…)

And of course….

Careful up there!  Wook is very protective of his Cheetos…

A big chunk of you are Hybrid players.  But I am surprised that there isn’t a lot more of you that are Donut farmers.  It definitely INCREASED from 2016 (when only about 17% of you farmed those donuts) but still not as high as I thought it would be.  Interesting to note that the number of PREMIUM players has stayed about the same.  Even with all the donut farming opportunities.  Perhaps those that spent money in the game, can’t be bothered spending the time to donut farm & will always spend money in the game?
Either way, it looks like EA certainly isn’t losing money from the increase in free donuts.  Interesting.

Oh and…

More About You…

And…

While…

Our US readers still dominate the top spot, but it looks like we’ve increased our European readers by 2%.  And those from the land of Oz have ticked up slightly too.

Oh And….

Your Best and Worst

Stonecutters keeps its top spot as your favorite TSTO Event.  It’s held this spot every year except for 2015 (when Superheroes, the original, took over).  What is it about Stonecutters that y’all love so much?  The pure awesomeness!  And EA has NEVER come close to creating an event that’s as loved as Stonecutters…maybe they should try.

Your second favorite major event?  The 2016 Casino Event (8% less popular than Stonecutters).  Third favorite?  Around the World 2017, followed by Homerpalooza (yup the current event), followed by Superheroes 2015, then Monorail, then Halloween 2013, then Whacking Day, and rounded out the top 10 are Clash of Clones & Halloween 2015.

Details for all of these events can be found here (except Whacking Day, we weren’t a site back then)

For the second year in a row, a new event took over for your LEAST favorite Major Event.  (2016 it was TapBall & 2015/2014 it was Easter 2014)
You guys REALLY hated the Christmas/Winter event from 2016.  By over 5%. And quite honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of covering it either.  We briefly talked about it on the latest Addicts Live (I hated it so much I actually cursed about it!) but we’re really going to get into it this Fall on Addicts Live.  So stay tuned for that.  Hopefully, I’l have my dollars ready for the swear jar!
Next least favorite event?  Easter 2014.  Everyone’s still bitter about those darn eggs!  BUT, and this honestly isn’t directed at anyone, EA did give us a super cool tool with that event.  The Bunny Zapper.  Where you could scroll around your screen and collect all of the bunny tappables pretty quickly.  I really wish it was a fixture for all events.  That one was fun.
Spots #3 and 4 are a tied between Tap Ball AND Time Traveling Toaster.  Surprisingly you guys weren’t a fan of Homie and his toaster. (despite the pre-event excitement).  And rounding out the top 5 Superheroes Sequel.  Much like in real life..the Sequel is never as good as the original.

In 2016 EA announced there would no longer be traditional Level Updates for TSTO.  Instead they would be replaced by “Mini Events”, like Springfield Games.  Here are your thoughts on the “Mini Events”…

Looks like you guys still love those mini events.  Honestly, I do too.  They’re fun to cover.  Nice quick 2 weeks. New content.  Fun dialogue.  Good stuff.

Deep Space Homer is still your favorite Mini Event.  And it’s your favorite by A LOT.  Over 10%.  There’s something about your first.  (OK so Thanksgiving 2015 was technically the first one, but Deep Space Homer was the first non-holiday themed one)
Next on your list was Pride 2017 (which is interesting, and you’ll see why in a minute), followed by Pin Pals, Homer’s Chilliad and rounding out the top 5 is Springfield games (narrowly beating Rommelwood Academy).

Your LEAST Favorite Mini Event…

Ironically Pride 2017 was your second favorite Mini Event, but also your LEAST favorite Mini Event. And it was your Least favorite by a good 6% margin.
This was followed by Rommelwood, Springfield Games, Valentine’s Day 2016 & Pin Pals rounds out the top 5 Least Favorite.
So what does this tell me?  You guys are a strange group! lol

I love that most of you have been with us from the start, or close to it!  It means a lot to us that so many of you have stuck around for the last 4 (!!) years & we’re so thankful for the support!

And Finally

Bottom line of all of this?  You guys are awesome and we loved getting to know more about you!!!  Hope you enjoyed getting to know more about each other too!

Special thank you to everyone who took the time to do the poll!

What do you think of the results?  Are you surprised by any of the numbers?  Do the results for favorites and least favorites surprise you? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Gotta say so far this has to be my worst event since after the first one Halloween in 2015. 3 days left and still have 2 prizes to unlock. I don’t like this. The pressure is getting to me

  2. My Queen Alissa, thank you for the results but more it was entertaining. Also will jump on band wagon, you should offer your services to EA. While I check this site anytime I need help, I never go to EA forum, boring, mean people lol.
I’ll keep hanging here, where all the cool people hang😎🖖

  3. It’s always interesting to see these poll results and learn a bit about my fellow tappers. 🙂

Speaking of the bunny zapper, Alissa you did a post about some of the different things EA has done during events. Can you post the link? I tried doing a search but not sure what to search for. 😁

  4. Hi! Is there a link to see the full results? I wouild like to know how many are from Brazil 🙂

    • No we keep those to ourselves because there are some other stats we ask (like feedback direct for the site) that is for internal use. There are so many countries that view this blog we didn’t list them all on the questionnaire, it would take forever to list each one. Instead, we listed the big ones we know of and then grouped others, so we did South America. And about 2% responded with South America.

  5. Thanks for the well presented results.

  6. You should send this to EA. Top notch marketing research for free. 🙂

  7. I do wish it stated how many people responded to the blogiversary poll (and its comparison to previous polls).

    • Thousands. And it’s pretty much the same number every year. Which is likely why the results (in age, gender & how long you’ve tapped) tend to be very close.

      • Thousands???? Holy Crap! I was thinking you know, mid hundreds or something therein (don’t ask me why) … As an aside, thank you Alissa for all you and your fellow blogmates do for this site 🙂

  8. Really interesting to see that almost all tappers are adults. Kids of today don’t like grinding.

  9. One of my favourite events ever was 2013 Halloween which was amaze balls!! Had a genuine spooky atmosphere to it with the gremlins and ghosts and I seem to remember mist or fog it looked brilliant, they’ve all been tame more child friendly since.
Hope EA read this and we have a more scary one this year that would be awesome

    • I liked the 2012 Halloween event. I loved tapping on zombies and going to neighbors and egging houses and throwing toilet paper on trees lol.

  10. Fantastic poll!

Next round is on me… flaming Moes for everyone 😀

  11. Cool info! Thanks for the poll and all the hard work that went into organizing and compiling the data into comprehendable formats.

  12. And what was wrong with the Winter 2016 event by the way? It gave us the singing stones! In fact there is no winter or Halloween event that I disliked so far… Ok maybe the first Halloween event with the zombies and the second XMas event that had… The Wheel… I hated the wheel… They weren’t much and farming the currencies was really hard, we didn’t had three part at the time meaning that the last part of the event after I unlocked everything was long and boring.
But thankfully for them, the Easter 2014 event with its coloured groups system exist (I was in the pink group) to take the place of event I dislike the most.

  13. Most TSTO players are in their 30’s?! Well, who knew? I’m one of the younger players then despite being in my mid twenties XD

  14. Looks like you took some polling and graphing advice from Safi. 😜 Great read, Alissa, and happy blogiversary again to everyone (even Bunny ^^)

  15. Long time player but first time poster!
I now know I am addicted to this, never missed any content from events due to increasing my log on’s and just been on my long planned holiday where I had promised myself that I would maybe try to log in once a day to tick over but hammer this section of event on my return, however found myself buying extra mobile data and secret trips to the loo and any other time to still log on nearly every 4 hours! Returned home well ahead to schedule. Damn my competitive nature and need for new things!
And thanks guys this site is awesome

  16. I forgot to vote this year
I still regret not getting lenny carl and dr hibbert from the stonecutters :c
It’s all the same except i became a donut farmer… My town was a mess so meh.
Also. I’m not surprised pride 2017 is both the second favorite and least favorite. In my opinion it was ok…we finally got crosswalks.

  17. What about the ink block test for us 5 % ?

Stop by and we will make a movie in black and white . It want be a Disney film . See ya bye . 👽

  18. I think the pride event and the Christmas 2016 event were least favorite to some because it pushed the envelope beyond their comfort zones. One has to remember that the tapers comes from many different cultural backgrounds and age groups. Some are going to be more conservative while others are going to be more liberal. What is considered acceptable in 2017 may not have been in previous years or in more conservative countries. One of the things I liked in the pride event especially, was that things like the crosswalks could be turned neutral if one chose. It will be interesting to see what comes up next. I also hope that those of us that missed the stonecutter event get a chance to collect the merchandise and skins. I’ll have to wait and see.

  19. “But I am surprised that there isn’t a lot more of you that are Donut farmers”.

That’s because one of the options was “Premium Fremium Mix” and that includes me, a donut farmer. I couldnt answer both, and I think a large number of the mix people are in that boat.

  20. Seems contradictory that Pride 2017 was our second favorite Mini Event, but also our LEAST favorite Mini Event by 6%. # confused

    • Very odd…but makes some sense because there aren’t that many mini events & it’s likely those that voted for a different mini event didn’t like Pride 2017. It happened last year too I believe…least favorite was 2nd or 3rd favorite.

      • Actually, I just think it was just centred around a (sadly) polarizing topic, which is why people either loved it or hated it. 🙁

    • It would have been perfectly feasible for it to have been both least favorite AND most favorite event. That’s what happens with a polarizing event like this.

  21. Please EA, bring back STONECUTTERS! Some of us weren’t around for the first one. If you can bring back Superheroes TWICE, then why not Stonecutters?

    • I started playing well after the first Whacking Day event, and I spent like two years coveting the Whacking Day stuff in my friends’ towns, but FINALLY they brought the items back (it all cost donuts, but it was worth it to me!). So Stonecutters might come back around in some form, maybe not a whole second event but at least with the ability to buy stuff

  22. But awesome post I do enjoy the different posts you guys have, interesting and very detailed. Thank-you.

  23. I don’t understand when you say that pride event was “the second favorite mini event and the least favorite”. Just me?

    • 2 different questions for people to vote on. We asked for the favorite & the next wee question was least favorite. That allows for that to happen

      • Ahh gotcha, makes sense. Well i appreciate the time and effort you put into the post i like the various ways of postings, theyre fun. Thx.

      • Maybe if you had one question to make an order, it would show the actual reception. But that is only doable with a few items to order, on of course the number of minievents rises. Plus people might not even have their own order, because they feel indifferent to couple of events.

And I agree, that the result just shows it was a polarizing topic, and has nothing to do with the game-side of the event.

  24. I’ve been tapping and reading since 2013. I just want to say, Thanks for all the top notch work you addicts!!
And thanks to the huge community of tappers out there!
This is the only spot I goto for anything TSTO (other than the game).
You all are definitely keeping the game alive.
I hope both TSTO and Addicts keep going for years to come.
    Cheers🍻!

  25. You young whipper snappers with your fancy plug in Etch-A-Sketch’s and rock and or roll. Halloween 2012 was the best event, maybe it’s my love for eggs and toilet paper. On the other hand we never forget the first time.

  26. Very Nice to see this post, I sadly missed the Space Mini-Event due to my Hiatus from the game, I really hope they do something in the future maybe a full event, introducing some new characters and stuff, it would be cool, like maybe Buzz Aldrin.

  27. I’m the 5% serial killers

  28. TallSpiderCandy

I am very thankful for you guys and all of your hard work!! I started as an occasional player a few months after the whacking day event and struggled to complete tasks and missed out on a lot of content until I eventually found your site. I am still irritated I missed that walking donut character lol!! I recently started donut farming and am really looking forward to the upcoming holiday events! I play several times a day and for nearly a year now, earn all the prizes in the events thanks to your guidance. Thanks again for all that you do!! Have a lovely day!! : )

  29. Thank you for the amazing job during this four years. 😀 I just start playing a bit before Rommelwood Academy mini event and I was a bit sad I didn’t get all the prizes, but it would be a bit impossible, because I didn’t have unlock all the caracters yet. Secret Agents was my first major event and I thought it would be more hated than Travel Toaster. And I’m sad, too, when I see all the amazing stuff I missed during this years. I’m a truly Simpsons addict, but I had a very old cell phone, just this year a friend gave me a second-hand iPhone, Tapped Out was, probably, one of the first apps I installed on it. I wish you all the best, keep on tapping for us. <3

  30. Pride 17 the least? Why?
