Contest is Now Closed. But feel free to still share your thoughts in the comments. Winners have been selected and I’ll have a post up once I confirm with the winners to announce them. (So check your emails) Thanks!
Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
So Homerpalooza is nearing the end, remember it ends tomorrow, and we’re all gearing up for the “next big thing” in our Pocket-sized Springfields. But before something new hits I want all of us to take a step back and think about TSTO in general.
The last few weeks I’ve been seeing LOADS of comments from you guys about why this event was both good and bad and many of you have been commenting that TSTO isn’t holding your interest lately. And you’ve heard our thoughts on the subject in many posts and most recently on our latest episode of Addicts Live.
So now it’s your turn. What I want to know is what you think could be different for events in TSTO. What could EA change that would make you really excited to play? What would hold your interest? What would keep you engaged? What type of events would you like to see?
And now CONTEST ALERT…

As an added bonus, we’ve got some cool Simpsons LEGO Mini Figs donated to us by BrickGuySD and I’m going to give 2 of them out at random. So to enter for your chance to win a LEGO Mini Fig (location doesn’t matter, we’ll ship all over the world) simply comment your thoughts on what EA can do to change TSTO Events (or just what you’d like to see for an event idea) between now and tomorrow (Tuesday September 12th, at 9am ET) and we’ll pop the commenters into the randomizer and pick two at random to win!
Pretty simple right? Just comment with your thoughts on what EA can do to make the next event in TSTO better, hold your interest or just what you want to see as an event idea and you’ll automatically be entered to win a Simpson LEGO mini Fig! Sweet!

And real quick, because we have to, here are the Official Rules…
-Entries are via the comment section of this post only. Comments anywhere else (or emails) will not count as official entries.
-Enter as many times as you’d like (i.e. Comment as many times as you’d like)
-Comments MUST include (at least 1 of the following: thoughts on what you’d like to see done differently in TSTO, what you would add to the game, what EA can do to hold your interest or what you’d do differently.
-Valid email address must be provided when submitting an entry, this will be how we will contact you to let you know you’ll be featured. ( they are not published on the blog and only viewable by the blog staff.)
-Prize is 1 LEGO mini Figurine per person (1 person cannot win twice) valued at $5 US.
-If you win you’ll be given a choice of a few mini figurines to choose from, you many only select from that list.

If you would like a copy of the Official Rules, email TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com
And that’s it my friends, so let’s see what you have to say!

Trade monorail pieces you don’t want or need for those that you do.
Do something new with Springfield Heights, they made it easier to make parts, but there is nothing to do with them.
Close Krustyland, use the memory to open up more land and make it possible to build Krustyland on the main board.
Change event crafting to make fewer, but better prizes. Most of what I make in order to level up goes straight to storage.
Make it possible to sell more items for in game cash.
Let people in trade in premium items for donuts at some discounted rate.
Being able to get rid of items in storage (such as monorail track pieces)” without them taking up space in storage would be nice. Also, having a event that allows you to earn prizes/characters that had been previously free during those events from early on that many players earned free but now have to be purchased if they become available again would be great. Kind of a “garage sale” without the sale part, you complete quests to earn prize, with different quests available for players to earn certain prizes
So. Much. Grinding. I’ve played TSTO for years. This is the first time I’ve ever just stopped playing. The prizes were, IMHO, rubbish. Why would I spend so much time doing all of that complicated figuring who could go to what venue where to earn some random musicians I’ve never even heard of that were kind in one episode once, open a task to earn more tickets to earn more useless decorations.
Want to keep my interest? Here are some ways:
— Shorter events (ditto what someone said above. I don’t want to play halloween in November or Christmas in January. That’s just stupid.) And for events like this one that I personally felt were not fun, it’s a long slog to play through.
— Less grinding. Do I need to say anymore?
— Prizes/crafting that is actually worth winning.
I completely agree. I have been playing for so long now and each event seems to be the same thing – 4hours tasks and crafting. I just stopped playing this round. I saw no purpose in getting any of the items for Wierd Al on the last Act and I had all the craftable items and then some that I needed so early and a ton of currency for no reason. I pretty much played the monorail to get the donuts and then stopped.
I actually liked the old events before they started the events in Acts. Prices are a waste of time. I liked the old leveling up and then the ability for items to unlock and buy at the next level.
Would love for the return of community prizes during events. Love EA giving us extra bonut time even more. Also would appreciate more time between events to be able to actually spend some time on town design, instead of just plopping everything down on whatever open space I have. By the time you’re able to take a couple of days away from the game after an event, it seems like the next one just starts right up
Sorry if anything is repeated from other people’s comments. I want level updates to come back. Even if we don’t get a character with each level, at least we could get a building or even just a quest. To me, leveling up is boring now.
Also, change the format for big events. I think it is an understatement that people get bored quickly with them. The 3 acts per big event has run its course. People loved the Stonecutters event because it gave us a few different things to do. I even miss the notoriously hated Easter event of 2014 because it was something different than the same old song and dance we have gotten used to.
What about friendship points? Is that done? (Maybe I missed that in a previous post). Maybe add more prizes for that to encourage neighbor visits. Sorry for any grammatical/typo errors. I typed this on my phone pretty fast. Hopefully, I got my point across, though.
I’d love to be able to sell anything (other than characters) from inventory. I’m looking at LL Doughnuts and old event “prizes”.
Shorten the events.
Six weeks is too long.
thanks guys
Shorter events. By act three, it can be hard to bring myself to log in twice a day, much less 3-4 times.
Mostly I think events need to be shorter with more time off in between to enjoy your new toys. I’m usually pretty over them by the third act.
As for future events, I wouldn’t mind seeing something based off Saturdays of Thunder. I could use a three time soap box derby winner Ronnie Beck character.
My opinion the events other than Tap Ball, Around the World, and Superheroes 2 have been quite fun. I believe an event that allows you to use more of your characters that you’ve earned or purchased can make them more entertaining. For the Homerpalooza event I don’t understand why we couldn’t have used Lurleen. In the secret agent event I like being able to use Lucius sweet, Duff Man, Drederic Tatum, and Arthur/Gabo in addition to the event characters.
Crafting in general has been a problem. It has a tendency to take away from the fun of the game. The additional items look nice during the event but often they don’t match the long-term look of my town. At the same time if the price adds to your team it is worth having in keeping.
I would like to see more cameo characters like weird Al such as Pauly shore , Tom Arnold, Darryl Strawberry, or any of the Rob Schneider voiced characters show up in the game. This might make for a nice comic con or convention event. I would also like to see EA stay with allowing players to earn bonus donuts after reaching a certain level of the prize track but not waiting for the end.
I’d really like events to be shorter… I’m sure it would still be enjoyable, because as of now I feel like it just drags on too long. Also better crafting prizes within events! My little brother and I both have towns and he loses interest by the middle of the second act, which wouldn’t happen before 🙁
I would like to see final prizes of events come with more of a bump or perk. Maybe double or triple cash and XP payouts or (and!) 5% or more bonus. Also, 10 days instead of 2 weeks per act. Some of my thoughts.
1) Make the big events shorter. I think most of us get tired of the four hour schedule after several weeks.
2) Instead of using particular characters to earn event currency, go by category instead — nerds, gluttons, kids, etc. This gives those of us with a ton of characters a chance to use the less common ones and keep the core characters free for monorail tasks, etc., but it also allows newer players to still participate effectively.
I’d like to be able to adjust the tap radius of the IRS building instead of just the facade. between events I store the building when clearing character jobs so there is something for neighbors to tap on
Some things they could do better:
– Events should be shorter and less frequent. They’re more “special” that way.
– Put some effort into the event storylines. Right now it’s a day and a half of story followed by two weeks of doing the same 4 hour tasks over and over again. Write a storyline that takes most of the event/act to complete.
– Use more characters! With 150 characters in my game, why do only a dozen of them have anything relevant to do?
– I get that they’ve pretty much run out of “core” characters and buildings, so give us some interesting ways to pick up old limited or premium stuff we missed.
– Basically, anything different. They’re letting it get repetitive. Try something new. Building inside houses, maybe; or some other expansion.
It would be nice to hace a good reason to visit Krustyland again.
I have that Dr. H. Lego! And the Simpson’s Lego house too.
Not sure that I could come up with something to top this event. Music is better than T.V. for me. And the fact that act 3 was easier, and you got bonus donuts sooner, and BGM, and all the neat stuff in my mystery boxes. I also love the four hour resets. I spent $50 real money to get all the fun stuff that I liked, so this was a great event for me.
Please update the “notification” system. It’s problematic.
Numerous times I would receive a notification that a friend has dropped a lawyer in my town and I would search my town in vain. I even resorted to turning on build mode and turning off everything but the people to try to find the lawyers.
Maybe users would be better served by having the notifications “in-game”? And maybe those notifications could tell us exactly what the friend did when they visited? Something like “Your neighbor bobloblaw visited and dropped 5 lawyers.
Along the same lines, 4 hours is not enough time to get into the game and clear the lawyers for my neighbors. Maybe the lawyers (or whatever character) should stay in the town until the user clears them. That would give an incentive to the user to clear before more could be dropped.
Finally, how about giving users a clue about which neighbors can accept lawyers (or whatever the character is) so we don’t have to click on a neighbor and load their town (with 150 free characters) just to realize they can’t accept any more lawyers.
There’s a delicate balance here. I understand that this is a time-based game, but if it becomes too cumbersome and too much of a time suck, then I can’t continue to play. 🙁
Fed up with rubbish crafting mechanics within events and events providing characters that after the event do nothing interesting. Parson and secret agents carnt be used in tasks. Events need more time for those who don’t plsy in their sleep but have 8 hours off a day. Do some more with Krustlyland and Boardwalk. Do less events but more quality and make tasks time sensitive or you need Apu to be working in Kquki mart before you can use it ect. Like you can send all people on task but push of one button allow people to finish and collect all tasks with one button.
Make the ‘big’ events shorter
Bring back the old style levels
Have the ability to give stuff to your neighbours
Give all characters 1, 4, 8, 12, 16 & 24 hour tasks that you can set through the employment centre
Use Krustyland more
I agree with the scavenger hunt/riddle ideas mentioned. I also like the idea of being able to trade items with neighbors. I have a whole lot in my inventory that I will never use. Also, they should expand the characters used in the tasks. They did this a little with the current event but it shouldn’t be just the “main” characters that always have to do the tasks. I have so many other characters that don’t get used for the specific event. Lastly, just something innovative and different. I don’t have a specific answer for that one but I’m sure the creative minds out there can think of something slightly different than what hap been used over and over the past few years.
Our towns have gotten so big that searching through them for any of the special event caharacters to tap has become very tedious. Not to mention searching neighbor’s town which was brutal during Homerpalooza. In fact, I didn’t even bother searching my friend’s town, it was that painful…
Best events ive played in last few years were Casino and Wild West, each had something different and relevant prizes. Former with the fun games and excellent crafting, latter had those cool cut scenes we unlocked, and had really unique looking prizes along with dirt roads etc.
School event is a MUST, lots of kids missing in our games! Just anything closely linked to the show is good, this Homerpalooza event was good cos of this but could have been great if it had other fun features
ps – I just though of this – hoping they do a trick or treat halloween event bringing wendall and co in 😛
Oh no! Totally didn’t answer the question properly 😞 Sorry…! I hope maybe you’ll delete my first answer you moderate, apologies.
I really liked how with the Heights event you had to generate currency to unlock land and then new buildings which gave a new currency. I really liked this way of unlocking land, buildings and tasks.
I would like the events to have more puzzle elements so you have to solve or think about things before sending characters off on tasks.
An event that made the roads function would be great. It could carry on like the monorail and each week you could generate a new vehicle.
Getting back into using the lost assets – Krustyland mostly a waste
How about re-activating some of the older challenges – like town square, spooky story, tap ball and back alley brawl
This would let these assets become useful again!!!
Search or sorting feature for stored inventory.
Ability to select indoor or outdoor tasks only from unemployment office.
Shorter acts in the events.
More items to craft or higher prices on crafted item. I had all the items crafted before the 2nd act.
This event actually held my interest through the end. I usually fizzle out early in act 2. I liked having to think about which performer to put on which stage instead of mindless tapping.
I loved the stonecutters daily tasks. When they gave us a clue and we had to figure out which character to send on which task. Made you think a little and kept me engaged for the whole event. Would be cool to see more of that. Maybe with event prizes instead of crafting.
Things I liked from previous events:
Stonecutters daily “riddle” quests that others have mentioned
Terwilliger crafting, where (IIRC) you chose which resources to generate, which allowed you to choose what to craft. Each act unlocked a new resource, which unlocked new stuff to make. No more crafting levels, where I have to make things I don’t want or already have or have to “waste” resources to get to the next level.
30 day events (3 10-day acts)
The Clash of Clones & Tap-ball part where you could visit random Springfields.
Also, I’d like a way to make my own categories for stuff in storage (X-mas, Halloween, etc) to make things easier to find.
Also, someone mentioned going inside the Simpson house. That could be cool. Maybe Marge goes on that Zen cleaning thing from that episode this season and gets rid of everything. The other Simpsons have to search to find all the stuff she got rid of, or find new stuff – you could redecorate the whole interior.
I think changing how events are structured may work for the better. Instead of 3 longer acts, how about week long parts but still one over arching theme over a month or so.
Personally, I would like the event plot lines to be longer – take up more of our time. For the last umpteen gawdzillian events, if I’m logging in 4-times a day (which is needed to complete the event), I’m done with the plot 4 days in with a week to go.
