Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s the night before an update…we hope…and not a whole lot has gone on in our pocket-sized Springfield’s for a few weeks now. While slow periods in the game is nothing new for older players (“back in the day” we’d go many weeks without new content…just our own speculation), it is something new for those who started TSTO in late 2015 and beyond.
Personally, I typically don’t mind slower periods in the game…one of the reasons I love Mini-Events…but this slow down has a been a little too much for me. (although I’m not going to lie, I have enjoyed not having to crank out as many posts the last couple of weeks) As a Tapper of 5+ years and a blogger for 4+ years, downtime is nothing new to me. However, this time it’s felt different. This time it’s felt too slow. I don’t know if it’s because it’s smack dab in the middle of winter here, so there’s not a ton to do outside. Or if the constant cycle of updates has gotten to me and I’m just constantly ready for something new. Who knows. But I wanted to see what you all thought….
So I thought a little poll question might be in order…
Take a moment to answer the poll & feel free to elaborate on your answer in the comments below.
And bring on the next update already!

I’m liking, the downtime, managed to raise enough cash to purchase those expensive buys like sit n rotate and fortress of choclitide so I have them all now and build up donuts via recycling
I’m fine with some downtime …. I cleaned up my Springfield and Kem Farmed (the Mini-Event was amusing, now bring on the Pre- Valentine’s something something)😄
I always enjoy when I have some time to just play with what I already unlocked in the game without worrying about a timer ending soon and quests to complete.
It was good to get a few days to build my donuts back up. I’m all set for whatever’s next.
I’m fully expecting some sort of valentine’s day event coming soon
I enjoyed the downtime and wouldn’t mind a week or two more. Just checking the game “only” three times a day is cool (morning collection at 6am, daily challenge at 9am usually coupled with sending all free characters on 8h jobs, afternoon collection between 5pm and 6pm with sending everyone on 12h jobs till the next morning).
For those folks who still have to work through the 60 level questlines, there is only very little free time and I can imagine that a few are driven off the game because they don’t seem to get anywhere with those back-to-back events which usually require all the basic characters.
I actually enjoyed the original pace with a new level every few weeks and a handful of events and tie-ins thrown in between. This endless string of frantic eventing is pretty tiresome. I’m about to skip the next events in my B game which I’ve played besides my A game ever since the game came to Android 5 years ago and where I only missed one final act prize in all those years due to vacationing with limited connectivity.
I think this time it felt different because the Christmas event was only 2 phases, instead of the normal 3. By the end of 3 I’m always tired from grinding, but this one was just enough. I can’t wait to see what the next update will be.
I use the downtime for my other favorite game Township and some redesign of my main Springfield
I’m actually enjoying the more relaxed mode we seem to be experiencing lately. 🧘♀️ The Christmas event was clever and lots less stressfull than the norm and the mini event was quick (and easy), but had enough funny dialogue to make it worth while. I’m grateful for the change of pace…would be glad to be rid of the “4 hour grinds” forever.🤦♀️ I’m ready for a new event, but please…no more 6 week grindathons. I’m just afraid that after the success of the Christmas event, our expectations may be too high…sure hope EA has something great in it’s pocket😁.
look forward to new event will have good build up of doughnuts to start it
Feeling a little restless for the next event. I only have a few more really expensive land tiles to buy and am already regularly bumping against the max items warning so it’s kind of feeling like a grind without new content.
Well since I’m not level 60 yet so the classic events didn’t trigger for me, so I’ve spent my time grinding through krusty land to unlock Penelope to kickstart newer quests like Monroe and database. I have also been grinding through the Springfield heights thing to try and unlock as many 8 hour tasks as I can. So far I have the latte shop full, the yoga studio full and I’m getting close to having both patty and Selma 8 hour tasks for the medical center.
Of course this has been slowed by the fact that I’m also monorail farming so many of my characters are needed for both, but monorail farming takes prescience because donuts.
When you are such a low level, a small KEM farm (6) is relatively cheap and will help you move through the levels even without the collider on.
I’ve stopped the time consuming grind at the Railyard in favor of building and selling Kwik-E-Marts every 4hrs. With ~350% bonus, I make one level cycle (1mil XP) with 3 donuts a day with relatively little effort and zero character use. Add one donut per day (or 3 every 3 days) from Find Maggie, I make at least 120 donuts a month. Add to this some donuts from daily challenges and 5 from Sideshow You in Krustyland every 6 or so weeks (every 100 games at the rate of two games per day = 50 days), and I’m happy enough with the results while leaving all characters free for questlines and other tasks.
Haven’t minded the downtime, overall. But have been extremely frustrated having to log in 2x daily just to play, collect money, visit neighbors. Hopefully that will be resolved with this update!
5:40 — and counting?
🤔😂
1:30 – and counting?
Or will it arrive eight hours later?
Or Twelve
All characters are awaiting my instructions
Happy with the downtime. I would rather they do really great events then a ton of mediocre ones.
Would have loved some no snow time in the downtime as it’s easier to move stuff around without the white stuff.
I’d wrapped up the mini event before the Bart Screen Weekend and the teaser was a breeze
Good timing when you’re not tapping on a touchscreen just in case you sneeze !
I loved the downtime. I put my farming on hold and concentrated on cash. I was able to unlock all my remaining land as well as Cecil’s first two Road To Riches prizes. I feel very accomplished! Thank you fake money. 🙂
I was fine with it at first, but I’m gonna lose it if we don’t get anything tomorrow!
100% over the snow.
Being a player from the beginning it’s nice to have a little down time but I am ready for something new. Though sometimes it does feel like I’m trying to gasp for air in between events just to make a donut or two.
Still have snow in Springfield, I’m happy. Mini events help keep interest in game, waiting for a refund on Maison Derriere, that’s my next donut expenditure. And spring training is only a few weeks away.
Downtime has been ok, my town is getting messy and it really needs some attention. Unfortunately still haven’t got around to doing much due to other things going on. Looking forward to the next event though!
I enjoyed the downtime but I will be sad to see the snow go and face the adjustment from white snow to bright green grass for the next 11 months (when the snow returns). Either EA can become “predictable” with the next event structure and offer 3 acts ranging from 5-6 weeks in total, 4 hour cycle, crafting items with some returning and consists of decorations, set of prizes and premium items with returning items etc. or do something completely different like with Christmas and offer some different or old elements including a mini game and a secondary prize track or riddles and upgradable items to name some. While the first major event of the year is usually successful (Around the World, Casino, Superheroes; 2017,16 + 15), I hope this next one does not disappoint. 😀
I usually really enjoy the downtime; that’s when I tend to get the most done around my town. This time, without new land since THOH (I think), I haven’t had much to do. Very excited to see what tomorrow brings.
This was great timing for me…too busy with work the past couple of weeks, and then with my trip to NYC this weekend, to play much anyway. Plus, I have several new buildings I haven’t designed into my town yet, because I don’t like doing that while the snow is there.
I voted “Yes, but I’m ready for something new now,” but I also wouldn’t care if the wait went on for a bit longer. I have no shortage of things to do in my life and online these days!
This! I also voted that I was ready for something new, but I could wait another week or longer. I still have fun with the railyard during down time.
It wasn’t a downtime for everyone. My second account had the chili event. Glad to have the chance to spend some extra time on my second account.. I might need more than one Homer tomorrow….
I enjoy the down time. Would like the next event to hold off a bit more so I can recoup more donuts due to the THOH event. Had to spend donuts to get the final prizes in the second and third acts. I’ve been banking a lot of in game cash for any new land that comes our way. (It’s pretty pricey these days.) Really hoping to get more land, especially in Springfield Heights. I can’t expand it like I want to since there’s no space to put anything.
Glad to be able to stack up my donuts for the next round in my main games even though I visit once once or twice daily.
i was so lazy, didnt even get the last prize from chili peppers. need at least 5×3 hours, do you think i ll manage?
