It’s event time in Springfield! With the launch of Itchy and Scratchy Land, summer can officially begin for the residents of our pocket-sized towns! Of course, an all-new event means a new opportunity for EA to add new premium items to our stores!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Scratchy and the Cartoon Set to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding the other half of the Itchy and Scratchy Duo to your town…

Premium:
Yikes, this price is hard to swallow isn’t it? For those of us who actually PAY for donuts (and don’t donut farm), this one feels like it’s at a price point that’s a big ol’ slap in the face to us for spending money on the game. It hurts. Is he worth 300 donuts? I personally don’t think so. BUT it is Scratchy and what’s Itchy without Scratchy? Animations are fun.
Personally, this is a sit on the fence item for me. Odds are he’ll eventually come back in some sort of box for 1/2 price (or more). But if you don’t want to wait, pick him up now.
Freemium:
Freemium players should avoid this one. Stay far far away if you’re a true freemium player.
Donut Farmers:
Why not? Not like you don’t earn donuts pretty regularly.
I have not purchased him yet. I’m honestly on the fence over it. Just not sure I want to drop 300 donuts that I paid for on the character. However, Pat has purchased him. Pat is now a donut farmer, so he views it has spending donuts that didn’t cost real money. And his take was “It’s really the only thing worth spending donuts on this first act. The combined animations are hilarious. And Itchy without Scratchy? Come on…
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m on the fence. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Scratchy will also have tasks to Overpay for Sex on the Beach, Try to Win At Blackjack, Drink and Babysit and Dance the Senor Burns…provided you have the buildings associated with those tasks.

It’s unfortunate they didn’t make Scratchy the ultimate prize at the end of a long event like a “hey, thanks for sticking with us fans!” kind of thing. It’s not just a slap in the face for people who spend real money it’s a slap for those of us who have stuck around religiously tapping and visiting. I haven’t cared that I missed the final prize in the different acts. If Scratchy were one of them I’d be more likely to get through all of the acts. I feel like if less people actually spent real money on the game to boycott the laziness we would see more thought put in. I learned a long time ago to not use real money because I had a game just up and dissolve. All my hard work and money just poof! Anyway that’s my rant for the night.
At 300 donuts 🍩 it’s a huge price, but I wanted him!
If nothing else, just to watch Itchy and Scratchy do battle in the Cartoon set made it worth it (almost). 🤣
I’ve been passing on a lot of new Premium items lately, they just seem uninspired. Finally, a character worth having. 300 donuts is waaaaay tooo much, but I had over 900 donuts saved from farming and passing on characters from the last two or three events, so I got him. I love his tasks, his voice and the dual task with Itchy at the cartoon set. One thing I noticed, during the dual task, Scratchy can still be seen roaming Springfield.
BTW, love the mystery boxes. I can finally get nearly all the premium items for Krustyland. I like getting the Itchy and Scratchy mascots as a set for 65 donuts, In my second Springfield, I got them 60 donuts each. I’ll be emptying the Summer concert box, Krustyland box, and the Fourth of July box!
Maybe one should think that EA could also have made Itchy and Scratchy a combo for 300 donuts. As it is now, you get one for free and the other dosts twice the amount. In any case, it’s basically 150 for each. It was an instant buy for me for such an iconic character of the show. Anyone who purchased less recognizable one-off characters should not be surprised and also not object.

I can’t tell you the specifics yet. But, we DO know that on or around the 12th of the month…EA will be offering another “Bundled Character” for the 300 Donut Bundle.
Scratchy will still be available by then…so my advice to those of you who spend real money…WAIT to buy your donuts until then. That way…you’ll get Scratchy…the Set…AND another character for your 300 donuts. A FAR Better Deal.
SO…to Clarify…for those who are confused… The Deal on or around the 12th will be a BUNDLED REBATE. You will pay money to get the 300 donuts (as always) but you will be bonused another character (rumored to be Mawdy Spuckler). Then…with the 300 donuts you just bought, you can by Scratchy and the studio. So…you will still spend real money for 300 donuts…but will also get a free character, and then be able to buy Scratchy with the 300 donuts you just bought. Get it?
If you are a donut farmer…tough beans. You only get the free character when you buy donuts with real money.
Be patient. Hang in there…but this will soften the blow. Right?

Are you serious? I understood that I was buying Scratchy at a stupid price and that it was likely to have a sale in some future time, some future event. But now you’re telling me EA is ripping me off even more within the exact SAME EVENT? That if I hadn’t the desperate need to have both Itchy and Scratchy….if I had waited a couple of weeks, I could have gotten THREE items instead of 2. Are you freaking kidding me🤬?

You pay cash for donuts, you get something with that purchase. Then you use the donuts purchased to buy Scratchy. So you don’t get 2 for 300 donuts, you get Scratchy for 300 donuts plus something else for physically spending cash to buy the donuts for Scratchy. ie if you’re not going to spend cash to buy donuts (if you’re a strict donut farmer who refuses to spend cash) it doesn’t apply to you…

I can tell you his conflicted deep thoughts self dialog during the quest is a piece of art.

Ouch, this is big time EA taking advantage of its players. Not good especially with all the customer service trouble of late with bugs. But I farmed enough so I gave in. If you can get him, do it. Itchy and Scratchy need each other. Farming was the only way I could have gotten Scratchy.
EA are playing on the fact that the two characters go together, so give one away free & players, especially farmers will buy the other, probably even it was 400 donuts. Most guys like myself who do not farm, cannot afford 300 donuts but as Pat says maybe on the 12th, who knows.
I bought the cat a few days ago. I had to have him. I am a doughnut farmer recently so I could afford him. As well as the mine field.

This event really sucks, it would’ve been better as an enhancement event to the “separate” Krustyland. I always thought we were due for a Krustyland event of its own. Now it’s just cramped into our Springfield’s as just another eyesore. I rather enjoyed the fact that you had to travel separately to visit Krustyland 👎🏻
Think you are very much in the minority there my friend. But hey we all have varying opinions. I actually think by the end of this event these three rides are going too look pretty cool.
The animations are so sm opooth! Props to the animators and designers to this one. Especially when some past characters look like their visual tasks are made of 3 frames :). Love this character – don’t regret buying donuts for this one!
Yes, it should absolutely have been an event for Krustyland, and they should definitely have kept Krustyland separate. They could have achieved the same effect as now by just making more items transferrable between KL and Springfield. I very much doubt you are in the minority at all.
EA are being ridiculous here- they should have kept Krustyland separate. Now I won’t be able to make the KL designs I wanted to because I won’t have enough room.
I’m on the fence….suspect that within a year it will be a discount item or in the vault and then I would have to beat myself for not having the patience to wait it out. To buy or not to buy…..that is the question 🤫

This is one I am honestly still on the fence about and the sib helped. And then I read the comments, especially those that noted just how long the game has been around and that it can all go away and I’m back on the fence. I have almost 600 donuts and it would be a shame to not have Itchy AND Scratchy when EA pulls the plug but 300 is a lot of donuts….
IF I buy Scratchy it will probably be just before he leaves the store…
I think the 300 donut price point was reached with the donut deal in mind. People who would not spend $7 before might be tempted to Now because of the bonus. 160 only gets you halfway, but I think that was the logic.
Speaking as a long-time donut farmer, one line summed it all up for me. What’s the point of having Itchy without Scratchy?!? This is one of very few times I didn’t wait for the “Should I buy” before buying. I did think about it before buying, though… for one 4-hour cycle, just to rule out the “impulse buy”
I dunno, i dunnno, i dunno! When i read here it was going to be an itchy and scratchy event i had every intention on getting both if they were offered. Now, having read all the rants and comments, and stuff about legacy coding and rollbacks and all that, i dunno. It just seems like at some point this game will be too glitchy to even fix and they will stop supporting it. So, i just don’t know if i want to invest anymore money into a game that looks destined to die. But then again, it is scratchy! So i just…i dunno, i dunno, i dunno!

Bonuts means “bonus donuts”…like when you complete an event timeline and until the actual end of the event you can earn the chance at donuts for continuing to collect the given event currency (for example currently foam knives).
KEM means kwik-e-mart; there is a lot of info on this site about it, Patric and Safi have done good articles, definately check them out! Basically you “farm” these buildings every for hours to collect donuts. I do it occasionally to supplement spending real money. Hope this helps, have a lovely day!! : )

I am so happy for this forum, and all the hard work and advice the addicts are giving us ~ I really struggled before and had to buy donuts to finish events n get characters I wanted. I still buy donuts sometimes when they are on sale or offered with a character, but mostly I get by only on bonuts! I’ve been KEM farming for a year and finally at a bonus point that with the other minigames/find maggie/collecting garbage I get about 15 – 30 donuts a day depending on how often I log in. Only cause of that I could buy Scratchy and other pricey characters 🙂

I’m a little hesitant to say Scratchy was expensive, as I was told to be quiet yesterday for doing so! 😀
But he was expensive, especially considering how much I’ve spent on the game lately which is as a bit naughty of me with other life stuff happening. Glad I have him though. I didn’t buy the 300 donut Italian guys, so I thought I could splurge on this one.

My first ever premium item I bought was the Pet Shop, then I saw how cute it looked, and how empty my Springfield looked with just the basic buildings,
so then I think Otto was next, and from there I was premium…

I usually buy donuts for special occasions or when there is a really good deal. I splurged and bought the truckload of donuts and ended up winning an additional 150 donuts from the 5 Golden Scratch-rs. That being said, I did purchase Scratchy with that truckload.

This stings but I’m about to pull the trigger. I mean, Scratchy for crying out loud. This is one of those things I’ll regret if I don’t pick it up.

If you go to TSTO Addicts website you can find them there. Patric has put out some very comprehensive posts about donut farming.
The way I looked at it was that as we have Itchy and Scratchy Land we need Itchy AND Scratchy.
Scratchy is expensive at 300 donuts, but if they had offered the PAIR at this price rather than one for free and the other costing you I don’t think people would be as unhappy.
I consider the overall cost for Itchy AND Scratchy to be fairly reasonable and the animations are hilarious.

Unfortunately another overpriced much desired item which we all feel that we have to have. It’s like having Larry without Hardy, Eric without Ernie, Tom without Jerry, and many other successful pairings that can’t live with the other.
I’ll pass on this one for the meantime, because it’s expensive!!!
You had me curious as to who Eric and Ernie are. I had to Google it: a 2011 television film produced by BBC Wales, based on the early career of the British comic double-act Morecambe and Wise. I assumed with Larry and Hardy you meant Laurel (maybe you heard Yanny) and Hardy. I know about Tom and Jerry! I have always assumed Itchy and Scratchy are a satire of Tom and Jerry and their over-the-top comedic violence.
After thinking about, I did end up buying Scratchy, before your article came out. I’m not even a KEM farmer at the moment (I’ll do bloodmoblies when something interests me enough). But I had 350 donuts saved up from monorail, Maggie, and leveling up (Along with end of last event bonuts) and this is probably one of the last few “Iconic” characters left the game hadn’t released, so I figured 300 was a “normal” price for a popular character. I didn’t want any of the one-shot characters from the time capsules. And while I don’t need Scratchy to finish the event, he will help get me done a little faster and back into the bonuts, so some of his value gets returned.
Those were my thoughts. Once the event’s over, I’m sure I’ll enjoy his quest and animations. For now, off to staffing rides!

I should also mention that your and Alyssa’s recent rants…err, articles talking about EA mocking…errr, reminding us how long we’ve been playing for 6 years, and the nuking of Krustyland also were a bit of an influence. They did remind me I’ve been tapping for a while, this could all be taken away at any point, probably sooner rather than later, so why not spend the bonuts while I can to finish enjoying my town.
