The Addicts Open Thread is where this site truly becomes a community, where we can talk about anything we want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of The Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING you desire…just keep it PG.

I wouldn’t even buy the three eyed whale if It costs 75 Donuts. EA has lost his mind
Perhaps, but not with the 333 Donuts. It’s an inside joke on Tappers. EA considers those of us who will fork over cash for just about anything to be its whales. Are they wrong?
The 3 eyed whale is for donut farmers, either those with billions in cash (blood mobiles) or KEM farmers. EA needs to reward those folks.
PPffffffttttt… I usually let your stuff slide, Charles. But, this is anything but a “reward for donut farmers.” It’s more like a “If you keep farming, we’ll keep raising prices” message. Any notion that EA is going to reward donut farming is woefully off target.
I was thinking more of the line of giving farmers stuff other people (paying cash) wouldn’t want. The whale(s) is(are) way over priced for % return and isn’t cannon. EA wants you to keep coming to the game everyday. With no “extras”, players might just spend their donuts to speed up the game, visiting once a week. And then eventually just dropping the game.
Uhm…sure. Except that EA was pretty clear in our NDA that we weren’t to promote “hacked donuts” (which is pretty unclear actually). So, I’m not guessing that they are going to reward anyone who essentially plays for free…and takes up space on their server. There is no logical reason to reward farmers…except to allow them to exist.
In your reasoning, you’d have a store owner who knows that people are taking his inventory, and hanging around the shop all day long, just taking up space. Instead of going to the trouble of rooting them out, he just leaves them alone, knowing that enough REAL customers will come in to pay the bills of keeping the place open. But, because he gets used to seeing the freeloaders around every day, he starts putting out special items for them to steal, so they will remain in his store.
Yep. Makes perfect sense to me.
Have you not heard of celebrities who get everything for free? EA could easily stop the XP collider. Limit the maximum bonus, etc. to limit donut farming. When they went from to 10 million XP to earn donuts, there were many people who threatened to quit. That “mistake” was soon fixed. Farmers are like celebrities, trying they out that others might not buy until they see it in action. Or, as you might say, the make higher prices seem reasonable to other people. He paid “333” donuts for it, so I guess I can to.
And of course it could just be bad decision making. The phone companies would charge 25 cents for a text versus a free phone call. But a phone call required a constant line between the two parties, but a text took less than a second. The cost of a voice line (8 cents per minute) was way more costly to the phone company than a text. But the companies wanted to “recover” the cost of implementation. Who knows how much they would have saved if they went to unlimited texts earlier on.
It could be, that you are confusing real life and how the casinos treat high rollers. Even in that world, you are comped a ton of stuff, because you actually lose large amounts and keep coming back (nothing says Addict like a “high roller”). But those who “win” all of the time (the card counters and system folks who invest time to break the system), are summarily dismissed and banned.
And if you actually see yourself as a celebrity, there is an even larger flaw in your reasoning.
EA didn’t eliminate the XP collider and the programming exploit of farming, because it was far more difficult to completely alter the legacy code. They put up with us…at best. We are like the “average loss/theft” ratio build into most retail models.

I saw Slimu swimming around in one of my neighbors town, did I miss something?
I’m not sure if you mean he was swimming around the actual town or in the actual Slimu auditorium, but Moe has a task “clean slimu tank” and it makes the building animated with slimu dancing/bobbing in the tank.
I’m not sure if that’s what you meant. (Though Moe is needed to earn zoo currency), If you send him on the ‘clean slimu tank; task it only generates play money (not zoo currency)

My town is almost three years old, I enjoy my town for what it is, for my self alone. The little things about this game keep me coming back.

To the lord of random number generators, random percent chances, or as some have called him: “RNGesus”. I’m sorry. I bashed on the time traveling toaster box, due to the lack of full characters, or even characters or npc’s in some rewards. I wasn’t going to buy anything. Then i gave in and bought one for fun, to see how bad my reward would be, and got caveman moe and moes cavern. Im sorry i doubted you, and thanks for the reward! I would say he’s the best in the box.

How far are you from getting him? According to the calendar you should be on 45600 for today which means you should already have the second land token in this act.

Hello all! I just got off work and tried to log into my game. I am able to get in, but it keeps blacking out. I’ve never experienced this particular problem with this game. Any ideas what this could be? I don’t see anyone else mentioning it🤔

Thanks for posting. All life is precious. A fun event turns into tragedy. Sadly, that headline keeps reappearing. I hope you weren’t affected by the incident.
Good as place as any other to post this. As we tend to complain about cookie cutter quests, logging in every 4 hours etc. I want to recount what I’ve been thru in game just now.
With some extra donuts I used them on the first surprise box and wonder of wonders bagged Apu’s wifey. Well 2 weeks later I’ve finally finished the quest line. I had completely blocked out what these used to be like. One 72 hour task, two 24 hour tasks, multiple 12 and 8 hour tasks etc. Now mind it could have gone faster but I didn’t want to use Apu and Marge on longer tasks until I was assured of finishing current quest items. But Jeez give me logging in every 4 hours over going back to that any day.

Thanks. I don’t have but two roads, so my whole town is just a bunch of areas plopped down like this one. The more i read here, the more i think ugh, i should design a proper town. But i think i might just be a plopper at heart.

Hot Take:
The previous crafting was better than this event’s crafting. (This argument ignores the items available for in game cash, because everyone agrees that more items available for in game cash the better.)
For the people who like to craft as much as possible: In previous events if there was a low level crafting prize that you really liked, you could craft as much as you wanted. In this event, there would be no way to get many duck ponds (you can only get as many as you have emu farms).
For people who hate cluttering their inventory: In previous events if there was a level of crafting at you weren’t interested in, you could just spend the currency on the level update and not purchase anything. In this event if you are only interested in the animals, you are forced to craft all the items up to that animal.
Interesting points. On the other hand, they could have limited the pen upgrades to one each, which would lock out any additional ponds and such. At least they opened things up to go multiple.
I was hoping that after we upgraded the first round you could choose which items you wanted to craft multiples of. I don’t really want multiple sets of all items. I’ve stopped short of the 2nd Great Plains as it’s a lot of currency and will hoard until act III hits.
Good tactic. After all…just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Right?
Hi neighbours! Just wanted to let you know that I finished the act last night so I’ll be holding on to my tadpoles until the start of act 3 so I have a nice stockpile to drop and help us out with the new act currency 🙂 Hope everyone’s progressing nicely and will be able to finish.
Has anyone else on here watched any of disenchantment (the new medieval show from matt groening on Netflix) yet? I’ve seen 4 episodes so far and whilst the general plotlines are quite good I’ve got to say the comedy they’ve put into it has been very hit and miss.
I’ve got another trip to SE Asia in Sep – should I DL this for offline viewing? I’m not really in love with anything right now.
I’d say it’s definitely worth giving the show a go as you’ll probably enjoy it but don’t think it will be something to rewatch multiple times like simpsons or futurama.

I think it just floats there like the regular whale – functionally. I think you can click on it to make it make a little spout.
When tapped it spouts out water and what looks like three pink jellyfish. It does not dive underwater.

The best thing about heading into Act 3 this week is knowing that the Halloween event will be just a few weeks afterward. I’ve been wanting Ghost Maud for years and saving donuts just for the Halloween event. This year, mystery box or whatever, she will join my Springfield.

So this weekend was summer and winter all in one! Yesterday was hot and dry at 27°C (80.6°F) while today was cold and wet (damp?) and barely managed to make it to 11° (51.8°). Guess we should expect more of this as winter slowly heads off for the year and Spring tries to take over again. The forecast for the week ahead has pretty much the same temperature range but at least there are possible hints of rain towards the end of the week.
So it tried hard to rain today and at least it managed to completely wet the ground even if it wasn’t able to do much more than that. 😞 Because it was hot yesterday I went and played a little tennis (a little because calf muscles are not happy with me making them work again after such a long break so I took it very gently!) and I almost got a little sunburn. Turns out that I have known one of the club members since we were both in primary school in Mahikeng (aka Mafeking, aka Mafikeng). Although it feels like that was just recently we’ve actually known each other for 40 years! Ouch! 😄
The event continues without much mayhem or chaos. It took me a few days to realise I could scroll down the ‘Find Building’ list to find the ‘Volunteer at Great Plains’ option but even with losing a few days of that I’ve still finished Act 2 and I’m waiting for Act 3 to begin (Note to Self: remember to start hoarding daily challenges from tomorrow). OMG! A three eyed whale just hit 😄😄😄 Still haven’t decided where I want to even place my Zoo let alone what it might look like but I think I want to get loads of the different areas cos the little upgrade pieces might come in handy for future designs – and to randomly place here and there. Might have to break out some donuts and buy a few Sanctuary Grants to make a few more… Hope everyone is making good progress! 😄

Sounds like you’ve had a nice weekend, if a little mixed bag weather wise. It’s tried to rain here a bit this weekend, too. Probably not enough to help the fires much, but I’ll take anything at this point. I had sort of a lazy weekend myself. Just taking it easy after babysitting my 23 month old nieces a lot this past week. I love them but man are they exhausting, especially when they’re basically like “Oh, Auntie’s here. We’re not going to nap.” Their mom/my sister went back to work, setting up her class room and everything for the new school year, so I had them 2 and a half days and the grandmas had them the other 2 and a half. After this coming week I think I just have them the one day most weeks because my sister job shares with her school’s vice principal.
The smoke has cleared up, mostly, for the moment. We’re not in the clear yet. Lots of the province is still dealing with it, over 550 fires are still burning last I saw, and we still have an air quality advisory up (I assume because it’s possible smoke could come back if the wind shifts), though the current AQHI number is only 2 – low risk. Far better than the days on end of 10+ (as high as the scale goes), so I’ll take it.

Hope you have a good week ahead. We will getting fall here in a few weeks. I know now the changes in the different hemispheres since I was in Chile last Christmas. We have had crazy smoke from wild fires in the Pacific Northwest this last week. I could not even see my downtown and I have a view. We had to stay inside as much as possible because of the air quality and the wildfires are states and provinces away.

I think it is hilarious…I have binge watched it all. Can’t wait for the next batch.
I’ve been super busy this past week so I’ve only watched the first 4 eps as of yet but I’m enjoying it.
I am eagerly awaiting Act 3 to discover if Crafting/Upgrade Currency will be used.
If not, I’ll finish upgrading my 2nd items, purchase the 3rd, place the 3rd into storage and get rid of the annoying FLOATING “upgrade me!” FLAG.
I think the crafting currency remains the same for all three acts…only the paw prints will change to new currency.😁

Hope that everyone is having a good weekend. I have enjoyed the animal theme of this latest event. My problem is like mostly everyone else, is where to put everything. It sure does not fit in the free land that was passed out at the beginning. I am hoping to be able to get a couple of more strips to the right side of the existing ZOO area. That would help. Would also like to be able to buy land with in game currency again. wishing everyone well….and HAVE FUN!
I plan to move the zoo out of there (somewhere more spacious), and make that part the parents island for KISland. And yes, I still havent rebuilt KISland properly…
