Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

Super Powers mini event has ended, and a Halloween teaser has arrived! What are your thoughts on the teaser? Put on your fortune teller hats and tell us what you think THOH will bring to our pocket sized towns.

Thoughts on Halloween in general?   Now that we’re approaching October do you have costume ideas?  How will you be celebrating?

And finally, how about the rest of your weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting?

Addicts Live Annoucement…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just dropping in with a quick announcement about the next Addicts Live…..

Mark your calendars because the next episode of Addicts Live will be airing Next Saturday (October 6th) at 12:00pm ET (for timezone converter check here).

The next episode will feature, as usual, our thoughts about what’s going on in TSTO, lots of laughs, our usual crazy antics and of course we’ll be fielding your questions.  Plus, you won’t want to miss our thoughts on the latest event in Springfield (fingers crossed it’s Halloween), and we’ll have TWO special visitors join the broadcast (spoiler, one of those will be baby Sam)!

And those of you that can’t make the live stream, don’t worry a recording of the video will be up for your viewing pleasure after the stream is over.  So you’ll be able to catch the re-run. 🙂

Oh and if you missed any episodes of Addicts Live! you can catch up on them here.

Remember Addicts Live! is now a Podcast as well!  So if you missed any of the episodes and want to catch them again while driving, running, or even showering now you can!  Check out your Apple or Google Podcasts to download and subscribe.  🙂

As far as what you’ll need for the live stream?  Well, nothing different!  No new program to sign up for.  Just check out TSTO Addicts on Saturday, October 6th and watch for the Addicts Live post around noon.  From there you’ll be able to directly play the stream…as if you were watching a regular embedded YouTube video!  Nice and simple!

Friday Filler – Are We There Yet?

Thank Grog It’s Firday!

As a father of five, and a grandpa to seven, I am a veteran of dealing with kids and their propensity for over-anticipation. In the “Good Old Days,” you could count on the seasons. You could count on retailers sticking to an unspoken rule of when they would bring out Halloween decorations, when it was OK to start pitching deals on Thanksgiving Turkeys, and when we would see the huge Christmas catalogs from Sears and Montgomery Wards hit our mailboxes.

Yes. I am that old.

But today, the lines have become so blurred, so completely without real meaning, that we find ourselves anticipating events, and expecting instant gratification in ways that have blown the word “anticipation” out of the lexicon of our current culture.

We are so used to being able to click a mouse, or tap a padular device, and have something delivered to our house, that the very thought of waiting for something worthwhile is a thing of the past.  The “Amazon Way” has given rise to year-around shopping…for anything…anytime…with shorter and shorter windows for delivery. And concurrently,  out of survival, many of the largest Box Stores have mimicked this culture with “Same Day Grocery Delivery” and “Bonus Reward Deals” available only for “Drive Thru Instant Delivery Pickup.” You don’t have to shop around people anymore. You don’t have to wait for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade for Christmas to officially start. You don’t have to wait for anything.

And then…there is the “EA Way.”

Should I Spend Donuts On the Fortune Teller?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Yesterday morning the Treehouse of Horror XXIX teaser hit our games!  Fortune Tellers and Tents arrived to maybe give us a sneak peek at what the next event will bring to TSTO. Of course, by now, we all know that new content means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us.

That limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Fortune Teller to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this predictor of the future to your town…

Treehouse of Horror XXIX Teaser Full Questlines

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Yesterday morning the Treehouse of Horror XXIX teaser hit our games!  Fortune Tellers and Tents arrived to maybe give us a sneak peek at what the next event will bring to TSTO.  Of course, if you didn’t spend a few donuts (90 to be exact) on the Fortune Teller it was a pretty short teaser.  Just one free item (the tent) and one part to the questline.

Now if you did drop the Sprinkles for the Fortune Teller you’ll see a longer questline and a separate one for the Fortune Teller. So let’s take a look at the full dialogue version for both of those questlines and see if either predict the future…

THOH XXIX Teaser is Live

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

A little later posting this than I wanted to, but a certain little boy isn’t a big fan of napping…

Anyway…the newest teaser in TSTO hit our pocket-sized towns this morning.  The Treehouse of Horror XXIX Teaser is now live!

This little teaser is just 1 free item and a premium character, so not a whole lot with it.  In fact, if you don’t buy the premium character the questline is only 1 part (so don’t go crazy wondering why the next part won’t trigger…), so really not a lot to it, but let’s take a look…

Treehouse of Horror XXIX Teaser Coming Later Today

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Some of you may have noticed (and some of you did in fact comment yesterday) that a little in-game update hit our games yesterday.  That little update was new content hitting the files for the Treehouse of Horror XXIX Teaser!

Yes, a teaser for the next event.  This will hit our games later today (once Super Powers is officially over).  So look for the short little questline and small content to hit our games around 10a ET today.  And a little teaser for the content can be seen in the character collections…

I’ll be back once it hits with details on the teaser itself…

Also, the new content (THOH XXIX Teaser) is slated to end on October 3rd, next Wednesday, which is very likely when we’ll see the official THOH XXIX Event!  So start getting excited for Halloween!

As we sit here frakkin files, pulling pics, and typing a million words a minute to get our readers the latest updates and information…we find ourselves sometimes forgetting to stop and enjoy our own games. More so our neighboreenos. So we try to make it a point to hop in n out of the towns now and then to see what cool things YOU are up to. So we have decided we want to continue to focus more attention (as if we don’t already 😛 ) on YOU…our readers. Time to time we will be peaking into your towns, checking our Flickr, and also the posts in the comments below to see what cool ideas and designs YOU have come up with to make your towns unique and…well…YOU. Super Powers Mini-Event is Nearing the End…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday, September 26th) marks the end of the Super Powers mini-event!  So,  if you haven’t already, finish up that prize track, purchase your last few premium items and be prepared to see the mini-event leave our games tomorrow morning! (and hopefully, something new arrives in its place)
