Well, it was teased (by accident) a few weeks ago…
And yesterday we received the App Store update that brought snow to Springfield! (if you haven’t downloaded it, do so. But remember it’s MASSIVE. So make sure you’re on WiFi)
And now it’s time! It’s officially 10am here on the East Coast which, in the words of Elsa, means “Let the holidays begin!” If I had a Yule Bell I’d ring it… (sorry Riley’s been watching A LOT of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure these days…)
Things will kick off with an AUTOMATIC dialog start with the Simpson family…
I’m working my way through this, and will continuously be updating this post. So continue to refresh and check back for new details. Once the post is completely updated i’ll add (Updated and Complete) to the title.
It looks like the TV is busted in the Simpson household…
Marge: Homer! The Krusty Kristmas Special is starting, and we can’t get the new TV to work.
Homer: Switch to HDMI 2. Or HDMI 5. It’s one of those.
Bart: We tried both! You set up the TV wrong, genius.
Homer: Aren’t you kids supposed to be good with technology? That’s the whole point of us making you.
Lisa: This TV uses apps, right? Maybe if I download one…
Homer: For the love of God, don’t!
Lisa: “Downloading. Time remaining: one hour, fifty-three minutes.” Ew, boy.
Bart: Homer set up the Internet wrong.
Homer: It’s not my fault! I never asked to live in a smart home, surrounded by a million fragile devices I can’t, and/or won’t, learn to set up.
Marge: Well, who needs TV? Maybe we can sit around and tell each other Christmas stories.
Homer: … Let’s try HDMI 4. That might work…
Marge: Who wants to go first?
And just like “the old days”…when the TV goes out you tell stories! The first story is told by Lisa. And this is presented by the 6s task she’ll have to tell a Christmas Story…
Lisa: Once there was an old billionaire who loved nothing but money, and thought Christmas was a humbug.
Homer: Wait. Is this a take on “A Christmas Carol”?
Lisa: Well, I’m going to update it. I’ll make Mr. Burns the lead, and have all the ghosts and side characters played by Springfield regulars.
Homer: Lisa, sweetie, if Daddy has to sit through one more adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”, Daddy will blow his brains all over the wall. You don’t want that for Daddy, do you?
Lisa: Not really, no.
Homer: Then let’s all agree, as a society, that “A Christmas Carol” is a lemon that’s been squeezed dry. It’s given up everything it has to offer, and should be fed into the disposal and obliterated from memory.
Lisa: Fine. I’ll tell a different story.
Homer: Atta girl. And just a warning: at the mention of ghost one, or anything resembling a Tiny Tim, I run screaming from the room. ‘Kay? Great.
After you complete the 6s task you’ll jump into Lisa’s story (Christmas Pagent) and you’ll have to complete a 4hr task for Lisa, Milhouse and Ralph (assuming you’ve unlocked him).

Well guys, as some of you have pointed out…this appears to be 4 mini-events all about Christmas. In that, the prizes follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.
This is not your typical Major Event. And there are pros and cons to that, and everyone will find their own pros and cons.
However, let’s keep in mind…this is 4 weeks. It’s Christmas, the busy season. This should be fairly easy to complete. You’ll unlock 20 new prizes. No crafting to grind through. Just have some good old fashioned TSTO fun. And, as long as you don’t rush things, you won’t get bored because it’ll change each week!
Now let’s talk about what’s included…
As mentioned above you’ll kick things off the a 6s task for Lisa followed by a 4hr task for Lisa, Milhouse and Ralph (if you have him). Once you complete that you’ll trigger the prize track questline for Part 1.

I will tell you, there are icons for this event that show bonus donuts available for all size donut purchases (from a box to a boatload), however, my game only has options for bonus donuts with a Box, A Tray and a Store Full. Not sure if this is the case for everyone, or if it’s different for those of us who regularly spend donuts (ie if we’re getting the shaft again).
As expected in the era of Donut Farming, there is a TON of content with this event that is premium.

Why do they mess with Christmas. It is my most favorite event and for the last 3 years it is just so disappointing!!! I love when there are elves or presents falling from the sky. This just plain sucks. Ea put a little effort in. Why would we buy donuts fir crap. Even the gift wheel is better than this. Least amount of effort.
We are all of 12 hours into this event. Chillax a bit…..

I hope the upcoming mystery box has the Christmas monorail. I have recently gotten into monorails and am missing the Christmas and rusty ones.
I won the magic one in the last mystery event. I wish it came with mini platforms. I have different monorails for different themes areas and I use the platforms as transfer stations so characters can visit all the fun park areas.
Bright side, only 1 month. Each act only lasts 1 week, so theres always something new to look foward to.
I hate grinding to tap characters, so glad thats gone, but far from a fan of this format too. Glad there’s a second Mystery Box coming, because i had pretty much everything in it. Want all the Christmas characters am missing.

As for the rest, i wish EA would alter their Mystery Boxes a bit, to where if you have everything else, or close to it, they just offer up a bunch of random other characters for the season, or even just more characters. Was so happy for Black Friday. Having only 1 item in the MB was a huge disappointment.
Dialogue was the best so far. Love the idea behind it. Love each act only being 1 week.
So far, just far from excited. After playing this game, this many years, a huge part of what makes a new event exciting is loading up on lots of new characters. Feeling a bit left out as a long time, dedicated player.
Also was hoping they would change a few things to make it enjoyable at this stage. Getting rid of the 1, 2 or 3 donut option and just having the donut totals rise, being able to sell or gift the excess Lard Lads to friends, same with the rail tracks and other non saleable bits would make me super happy. Lastly, buying the land with actual in game cash, or even donuts, instead of tokens. Would be nice to just have the actual space. Little space, too few new characters, stopped up decorating ideas and an overloaded storage box, are taking the fun out. Hope the second mystery box has the Simpson kids elf skins at least. Would love all the characters.
I think,it’s ok to me. You don’t need to be online too much time and still can win alot. However I can’t recognize the plots of lands which are supposed to come with some prizes, i.e. in stage number two. Where do you get the information that it really can be won? I only see the image of the main prize, nothing else. If it comes with the prize,I will be very happy, as I always need land. Like Patric I miss the possibility to win or buy more lights, I would like to hace more buildings in Christmas decoration , like the townhall, Moe’s bar or the shops….
My only complaint is the lack of land tokens. But I can manage. Event looks like it’ll give us a break from the usual grind.
Oh…and the more-frequent crashing. Can’t visit neighbors at the moment, and clearing out character tasks seems to cause it to crash after I get through a good amount. This happens from time to time with new events, hoping it’s just something EA need to fix with a patch.
It’s early folks!! Barely 12 hours into the event. Frankly a no crafting break is a gift from EA imo.

I for one are so glad that we have this format this year. It is nice for once to not be grinding and grinding and grinding to get a bunch of crap I really didn’t want.
I like the break form the norm for one event and am feeling like I am getting an event but not feeling overwhelmed by it. Thanks EA best Xmas gift you have given

It’s my first tapped out christmas. Its beautiful. I was hoping there would be a way to buy lights to light up the town. Or like snowman linds like pumpkins and trees for halloween. I’m I missing something?
More returning content will be showing up and another mystery box, for now there’s the bundles with loads of decorations.

I don’t get it. Why are so many people upset with the Holidays Update? I really can’t understand that after a couple of hours so many people complain about the whole event. Where is the patience? The Christmas feeling? The love and the joy of the hilarious dialogue and the sweet image is exciting, for me extremely exciting! 4-weeks mini event in a row? Nice. I call it a winter wonder! Take care, spend time with your beloved, even before Christmas Day. Even without the ton of premium content to come it I’d great. I enjoy it. But please, even if you don’t like it now – don’t call it BAH! “This is not what I wanted” nailed it. And is sufficient to say here. As this is your opinion. That counts. But show respect to all who might like it more than you do. Today is 6th December and we will celebrate Nikolaus here in Germany – so , Happy Nikolaus 🙂
And HAPPY NIKOLAUS to you! I like your attitude! When I look ahead, it actually feels like EA is giving us a TON of stuff…with very little need to grind and grind. I can promise you, that people are going to have a hard time fitting all of the FREE stuff in their towns. There is loads and loads of stuff…and people who are complaining now are going to feel silly by the time the event is over.
I agree. For long term players they might have everything except the Yarn Barn and Cirque De Puree and the bundles which repeats items in previous events. But for new players there a lot of items for previous events they can get (22 in the Mystery box for 60 donuts) plus 4 more items besides above (making it worth it for the farmers out there). Then there are the prizes for the event. And hopefully nothing to stress about in what can be a stressful time for some.
Disappointed that we didn’t get a huge chuck of land and nothing special for the daily challenges I have been saving. But it is Christmas related. 🙂

I like having the mini event format as long as it is as relaxing as the other ones, Will defintely read the Should I Buy posts as I don’t have a lot of donuts to waste.
I love the mini events far more than the traditional big events. So 4 mini events wrapped into one big event is awesome. I like this format far more. I’m not a big fan of the grinding aspect of traditional events. This 4X mini event is much more laid back and rewarding. Thank you EA.
Damn! Forgot to play the Where’s Maggie? game before I sent her to earn event currency.
If it makes you feel at all better I reset her 8hr task to be the Christmas tree star just before getting to the point I needed her for event currency. She did that for all of the snow last year, hang out on the tree because it makes me smile so dang much.
I am not sure about the format (basically 4 mini events in a row, not very creative), however there are quite a few upsides. I love that there are some great new decorations and even better yet, after unlocking, you can get as many as you like with in-game cash (no grinding just to craft a handful of items). It’s probably not gonna beat Christmas 2017, but so far, I like it.
I sure hope this event changes. I have never been a fan of mini events. I hoarded donuts for the Christmas event and this is a complete let down. Im happy for the people that like this event for me I wait all year for Christmas. And just like previous years it progressively gotten worse. But im holding out hope.

Agreed. Lisa is the most serious of the Simpson’s. From the character collection, I’m guessing Bart is going for a video game theme (who’s the guy with the football?) Might finally get the golf stuff I’ve been grousing for. Marge and Homer will give us a blast from past. But Maggie. Maggie might be the best one of all. Who shot Burns? Who masterminded the liberation of the pacifiers from the Ayn Rand school? Who was seen returning a shotgun to underneath her crib mattress after a shoot out with vengeful mobsters? I think the snowman with a Tommy Gun is related to Maggie’s tale and I can’t wait!
I understand if you’re not allowed to answer this but any hope for reindeer returning this year? I was so hoping to expand my tiny herd of 4 a bit when Christmas hit. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the premium content coming is.

I think some people have forgotten that it’s an event around a time of year that busy for everyone on a larger scale than usual, so a ‘mini event’ styled Christmas event that will allow you to spend time with loved ones obviously escapes their minds.
Like who honestly wants a hard grind taking up their holidays!? Have people forgotten there is more to life than this ‘silly little game’?
That’s part of what I loved about Christmas 2017… no real set clock, in when I can, no big deal. Nice and relaxed while most of us are busy. It was basically perfect all around. This doesn’t seem bad so far, but I’ll probably miss the flexibility in week 3. We’ll have to see how it goes.
Doesn’t have to be a grind, just a bit more than what we have here. Even some of the worst events have had a bit of thought behind them. Ok the dialogue is fun, but that should be a given in this game.
I agree, for me it’s a big letdown. Let’s not pretend otherwise. Ok some players will be ok with the lazy format but I was expecting something better than this from the programmers. We have plenty of mini events through the year, not at Christmas please though.
Lot’s of premium items are fine but newer players cannot afford them.

Oh my, I am going to like this during Xmas. Yes I / We finish mini events quickly. But I have grown tired of the standard 3 part 40ish day regular main events. I usually finish each stage 2 or 3 days early, stressing the whole time. And the last stage I’m just so tired of crafting and grinding I only want it to end.
This brings multiple land tokens, lots of chars. Skins and junk. And just my regular characters will bring 66 currency per round so easy peasy.
Bring on Springfield snow and the Xmas event!
Not sure how I feel about this one. I feel like it’s less one big Christmas event, and more 4 barely connected mini-events.
I’m curious that on the new splash screen Lisa has angel mug and her story let’s us win Angel Lisa. Are there perhaps more clues hidden in the splash screen…?
Homer has a tree and has stolen Ned’s tree in the splash screen, so will his story be about stealing that tree? Marge is reading ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas; is this her story? Bart is doing nothing but eating a cookie, so no clues there.
However, there is a lot of talk about not doing A Christmas Carol, and most of the remaining new characters include the ghosts of Christmas past and present and what looks like younger versions of existing characters (we already had the chance at younger Homer earlier). Could Bart be going to tell A Christmas Carol to spite Homer? Could Homer be Scrooge, learning a lesson about Christmas spirit after cutting down Ned’s tree?
Of course, the most inspired part of that character group is the gun toting snowman…
Is this it our Christmas up date?? Well, I have seen better ones for sure.. I am truly disappointed with this up date.. I mean I like all the free land we are getting but that’s it.. We pretty much are getting stuff I don’t really want.. Just more stuff to take up space.. This is suppose to massive.. Well as of now I haven’t seen anything massive about it..
How about you try to reserve judgment until you’re more than 9 hours into the event…
Feel free to not play the event if thats your feelings about it. Spend it with your family perhaps, maybe that is EA’s aim for this event.
Happy, excited and sad! On vacation, that’s the happy, excited that Christmas has come to my town but sad I can’t start till I am back home. Limited internet. But back home Sunday.
Not gonna lie, pretty glad it’s not a grind this time! I am still decorating my Springfield so it still has that Christmas vibe and I’ll make sure to visit each of my friends to see what they did. I know lots may not like this idea of an event but I’m pretty happy!

I agree, but I was hoping for the free nine square area that usually comes with event. Seriously wanted more space in my North Pole area.

I stored Halloween till next year, so now there’s room for Christmas. It’s not for everyone, I know, but If you choose an area for seasonal events, then group store them after the season is over, you will always have enough room( and pieces available) to play with. There must be some areas of your town that you’re not that crazy about…maybe do a test “group store” for this event and if you want it back afterward, just plop it back down where it originally was. 😊

Not sure how I feel about this new formula for this major event. Perhaps EA is working on fixes that still need to be done or they’ve read our complaints and are still brain storming on a new formula for big events. I’ll know better in a couple of weeks how I feel.
Some mini events, is certainly not a major event. Who waits around all year for christmas t’just be mini events. Bah!
I am getting a mini event feel. Hope that is not the case because I love the huge events. Mini events are good filler, but I do not want a month and a half of filler.

I’m so disappointed with this event, it feels like a huge let down. I get having a more chilled event so that you’re not having to frantically grind to get everything but this has gone too far the other way in my opinion. I think EA could have made it a little more exciting! I think neighbour interactions are always nice, especially at Christmas. I loved the year that we were given gifts to drop into neighbours towns, it felt in keeping with festive season! I don’t really like the mini event format and quite often don’t even bother participating in them so this is not inspiring at all for me. I am really disappointed that past items such as Old Tree Spirit haven’t returned. I am not at all inspired by any of the items that I have seen so far so I hope that the up and coming ones are better. Personally this is the worst Christmas event of the game do far.

I guess you can’t please all of the people………etc. lol. Personally- I love it. This is the kind of event some of us have been asking for for a long time.
I wish i could, Alissa, but i’ve already been on this mini event date several times. Shoot, we just finished a mini event to bide our times for a major event. A series of mini events is just not a major event. I can’t help but be disappointed. i’ve waited all year for the christmas event, only to get more mini events instead. I suppose i should just be grateful they didn’t ruin halloween like they did this. I hope that wasn’t the last of the major events.

So help me out, what are you missing? The crafting? Because the prize track is basically the same concept. Send characters, earn currency, unlock prizes. Only the amount of currency required is greatly reduced.
I am missing that it is not a major event that is fun and interesting with lots to do. To me, major events are fun with stuff to think about and stuff to decide on and never just a grind. To me, Mini events are just a grind of setting a few characters and that’s it. No tappables in my town or friends towns, no seperate prize tracks with separate currency to craft prizes in addition to the ones on the prize track, no free chunk of land to accommodate the prizes from two separate prize tracks, no deciding what to craft to get to what percent, and probably no bonus donuts. There’s just nothing to do, as it is with all the other downtime mini events. Nothing to decide on, nothing to tap on, it’s just a grind of setting characters once every 4 hours. I am missing having stuff to do and stuff to decide on. That is what i am missing. This event is just setting 4 hr jobs. Great dialogue, but nothing to do.

I agree completely. I don’t need to wait and see whether I like it or not, I already know this is not what I thought the Christmas event would be. Now I wish I had spent more donuts on more mystery boxes during Black Friday, instead of saving them for the “big” (haha) Christmas event. I really don’t understand why the crappy events are 6 weeks long, but a major holiday event is only 4 weeks of mini events. I spend so much time just trying to get into my game without it shutting down on me, that now when things are like this it feels like a huge waste of time. And the update was so massive that I can’t even open my B game on my second device. It goes from the splash screen loading, straight back to my home screen. What a waste. 😔

You know, just because we have different opinions on it, doesn’t make some of us right and some of us wrong. It just makes us human. If your game shut down on you more often than not, I guarantee you’d be ticked off about it too.

No Pat you’re wrong, just plain wrong. it’s more than a game, it’s life, it’s the only thing that we have in our life. It’s why we get up everyday and if we don’t get what we want or what we had imagined the event should be, because in all honesty we have no idea what we want but we just want to complain because we have had an injustice put upon us. Who cares that the event is only hours in, its effected my whole being and we’re offended.
