And man…did “grog” ever match the goings on for the Miller clan over the protracted Thanksgiving weekend! As mentioned in my last Friday Filler, we drove 9 1/2 hours through the midnight fog, driving rain, and wind, over the Siskiyou Summit, and into a weekend of Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and a perfusion of wine-tasting. My daughter Ali, who lives in San Francisco with her husband Ryan, works for GAP Inc. as a Senior Buyer. Where was she on “Black Friday?” With us…wine in hand…watching the Ducks pound the Beavers in the Civil war. Her buying for the GAP Black Friday was done months ago!
This was between my wife’s birthday on the 22nd, and Ali’s birthday on the 24th, which was celebrated with a stay at an old farm house on a vineyard, and several sojourns to other wineries for “tastings” throughout the weekend. You had to pace yourself. Trust me.
I threw in the towel mid Saturday, and escaped with my daughter Maddy’s boyfriend to Sanoma TrainTown, (see the link) which was a great deal ($7.50 for a 20 minute train ride, or roughly 1/4th the cost of a “tasting”) where I heard the agitated tales of “Jefferson,” my daughter’s latest “demonic child in cat form.”
Which brings us to the REAL reason for this post…a discussion of Cat People, and how the Crazy Cat Lady is a perfect addition to our games, and the airways above our towns! Continue reading →
Let’s face it, we’re all waiting for something big to happen in our pocket-sized Springfields. While we’re waiting EA dropped a premium teaser on us, one full of a lot of hissing. Yes, Ms. Claws has arrived in Springfield seeking good boys and girls to throw catnip at and bad boys and girls to scratch the crap out of.
So now, let’s all enjoy the full questline version for Ms. Claws shall we…
It’s time for hiss-mas! Yes, the one holiday a year where you either get catnip or your face clawed at…how exciting! This little holiday teaser arrived yesterday, something to get us thinking about the Christmas event…and of course, EA never misses an opportunity to add a premium item to our games!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Ms. Claws to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this catnip giving festive CCL to your town…
Another little hint at what might arrive this Christmas. A few weeks ago it appears EA accidentally released the wrong App Store description. They quickly fixed it, but some folks were able to grab a screenshot of it (Shoutout to Tapper72234 for emailing the screenshot to us)….
So combining this description with the Hiss-mas teaser, what do you think it all means?
Looks like the Christmas 2018 just flew into our games! But, like I said yesterday before you get too excited and try to read too much into it…remember the last several teasers that hit our games have had NOTHING to do with the next event. So don’t read too much into it…yet! Or read everything into it! It’s Christmas! Who isn’t excited?!
Anyway, when you start up your game you’ll see the dialogue from Cletus….
As we sit here frakkin files, pulling pics, and typing a million words a minute to get our readers the latest updates and information…we find ourselves sometimes forgetting to stop and enjoy our own games. More so our neighboreenos. So we try to make it a point to hop in n out of the towns now and then to see what cool things YOU are up to. So we have decided we want to continue to focus more attention (as if we don’t already 😛 ) on YOU…our readers. Time to time we will be peaking into your towns, checking our Flickr, and also the posts in the comments below to see what cool ideas and designs YOU have come up with to make your towns unique and…well…YOU. So here is YOUR chance to show off all your hard work, time, donuts & in game cash spent. Send us your work, no matter how big or small. Brag about it to the world. We want you to. Then keep your eyes posted to Addicts to see if YOU end up on our “SPRINGFIELD SHOWOFF”.
Out with one holiday and in with another! Yes, the murky waters of Halloween have left our games and it’s time for a little turkey, as Thanksgiving makes its way into our pocket-sized towns with an all-new mini-event!
Of course, as with all events, this event comes with new premium characters each equipped with their own questline to work your way through. So let’s take a look at the questlines for these two premium Szyslak boys…
We’re nearing the end of a mini-event and, of course, that means it’s time to speculate on what’s next!
Here’s what I can tell you…check your character collections. You’ll notice a new category was added
As well as a new costume…
But before you get too excited and try to read to much into it…remember the last several teasers that hit our games have had NOTHING to do with the next event. Remember the fortune teller before THOH or the Cayman Island Banker before Moe’s Ark? The list goes on and on. So don’t read too much into it…yet! Or read everything into it! It’s Christmas! Who isn’t excited?!
I can tell you…based on info in the files…the teaser will launch TOMORROW (Nov. 28th) 9am ET (1400 UTC) and it ends on Dec. 5th. Which means…as we speculated…Christmas will likely start on Dec. 5th. (next Wednesday)
Now, let the speculation begin!
Oh and don’t forget to watch Addicts Live on Saturday (Dec. 1st) at noon ET, where we’ll talk ALL things Christmas 2018!
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday, November 28th) marks the end of the Thanksgiving mini-event! So, if you haven’t already, finish up that prize track, purchase your last few premium items, open those last minute mystery boxes and be prepared to see the mini-event leave our games tomorrow morning! (and hopefully, something new arrives in its place)
What are your overall thoughts on the Thanksgiving mini-event? Premium items you purchased? Mystery boxes opened? Where have you placed the prizes? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!
No matter where you live, it’s still Thanksgiving in Springfield! As the Thanksgiving mini-event nears the end, it’s time to break down the prizes. Since the Thanksgiving mini-event is always full of a TON of content (Black Friday sales especially), I thought this year I’d break the prize breakdowns into two posts. One, that can be found here, for the buildings and decorations and another, this one, for Minnie and the animation.
Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes. For each of the parts of the Blood is Thinner Than Gravyquestline, you’ll have to earn via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.
