The app store update for Valentine’s Day has hit. So head over to your app store to download the latest update…
However, Valentine’s Day itself is NOT live yet. It’ll go live tomorrow. So don’t freak out that nothing triggers for you… it won’t until tomorrow (the 23rd) at 10a ET, 1500 UTC.
Until then there is a new feature to explore…and it’s pretty awesome! More details below the fold about Town Portrait!

And now some info about Town Portrait…
You’ll notice the new feature when you log into your game after you’ve downloaded the update. So yes, this feature will work today. And it’s AWESOME!
Here’s some info we received from EA about it…
Town Portrait is a new feature included in the Love, Springfieldian Style update. Once enabled, Town Portrait allows players to save images of their entire town to their current device. The feature works in several steps. Step 1: It takes images of the players land. Step 2: It stitches the images together to create the full picture. Step 3: It shows the player a preview of the final image, the file size, and an option to save to their device. Step 4: The complete image is saved to their device.
Here are more details on basically how it works…
To access hit the 4-way arrows (move menu) in Springfield. From there you’ll see the old-timey camera icon in the bottom right…
Tapping on that will bring up a box asking you about capturing…
Decide if you want your image to show your characters walking around or not and then hit capture.
Your game will then go back to the splash screen and you’ll see that it’s capturing your town…
It will then flash back to your town and show you it’s still capturing…
Once completed you’ll see a preview and you’ll have to decide it you want to save it or delete it. Saving it will save it your device…
Once saved you’ll see a message popup on the very top of your screen letting you know it’s complete…
From here if you go back to your phone’s gallery you should find the fully rendered image. On my Android it was in the gallery in a folder marked Simpsons…
The image may appear small, but you’ll be able to zoom in really far and into specific areas if you so choose. And you can even crop down for specific areas covered. It really is pretty awesome!

I am using iPhone 8 and the picture failed to be saved on my phone. I have tried it twice but failed. My phone still have over 20GB free space. Hope EA get a fix out soon.
Ok I take back my complaint. After waiting for a few minutes (despite the app saying that something went wrong at the last stage), the picture appeared in my photos. Looks very good.
Worked for me, cool pix, always wanted a full picture of my Springfield, pity the quality isn’t better when I zoom in, 😃😄💝💐💐
P.s tried it on my other device and works fine so must be my device as very pixilated. Lol

I have 1,2 gig Free internally on my Samsung A8 and 25 gig Free on the SD-card where my game is stored, and still it tells me i have to little disk space to save the game???? WTF??? Help!
Here’s how this will end up playing out…
Im going to tell you to free up at least 5gb direct on your device.
Your going to tell me that shouldn’t matter because it’s on your sd card.
But it does matter….
Took ages to do then the game crashed on me at the end, so annoying.
It’s likely that your device doesn’t have enough memory

Awesome! It took a while to put the picture together, but it turned out great! When I first saw the image it was so small I thought it didn’t work, but upon zooming in it was a pic of my WHOLE town. Too cool. When it was small I thought, “That can’t be my Springfield.” Seeing it that zoomed out is kind of surreal.
It takes a long time to render that pic though. Before trying to do it change the time-out length on your device so it doesn’t turn off part way through. On my LG G5 I set it to 10 minutes and that was plenty.
I was able to use the capture feature no problem with my iphone. My 6 year old iPad on the other hand, no so much. But whatever, take a photo with my phone and look at my town on my macbook. This is going to make it so much easier to design and get a real idea of how I have my town laid out.
Thought it was me being stupid, Amazon fire zoom out broke.
Snapshot works fine for me but it generates a big file – almost 40MB and I don’t have all the land! I have a new iPhone X(R) so processing power and memory is not a problem. I shifted the .PNG file to my OneDrive account and then to my laptop – great resolution.
I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the new update or not, but I went into my job manager to send out for a 1 hour task to clear my daily task, and every single option in there is only for 9 or 10 characters. Anyone else having this issue?
It’s probably due to a daily task you have that requires you to send Springfielders so they all have a daily task pending so unemployment office seems to not work when that’s the case.
It’s a super annoying thing I wish applied to event tasks only and not daily tasks and quests as well since it becomes time consuming with a bigger set of characters.
You can X out of the task every 24 hours and it’s replaced with something new, or if you’d like you can complete the task instead, that’s your call.
The send Springfielders tasks can also occur during character quests and event quests and cannot be skipped.
I have no open tasks, and no daily task other than the one I was trying to complete, which was to complete character jobs. I ended up clearing that by manually going through to set 25 people to do jobs. Even after clearing that task, I still only have the option of sending 8, 9, or 10 people at once through job manager. 😔
As a Kindle Fire user, I too am experiencing the effects of the “super zoom” since I updated. It’s making it very difficult to play since I can only see two land tiles at maximum zoom out. Quite frustrating. I’m pleased to know that I’m not the only one having this issue. Hopefully EA fixes this issue soon.
Just tried the town portrait.it is realy awsome.to see all of my town in one picture is realy cool.its a lot bigger than i tought.good one EA.

On my kindle with everyone else stuck on super zoom😡
My town is zoomed out on my Kindle fire. Won’t zoom in. Going to be hard to play like this.
It worked fine on my iPhone 7 Plus! I posted the image on Flickr & shared it on the TSTOAddicts group. My only complaint is that you can’t zoom in very close.
I have an iPhone 8 and I pay that awful $1 a month for an extra 50g of iCloud storage specifically for this game, and it took my phone maybe 10 seconds to complete the picture and download. This feature is absolutely fantastic! I do feel bad though for those of you who have older phone/not much storage. But the picture is crystal-clear. Can’t wait for this update!

So I tried the image capture feature. The first time I tried it (on my 4 1/2 year old iPad) the game immediately crashed. The second time I tried it, it took at least 10 minutes to take the picture and compile the image. When I clicked on save, my game crashed again, and the image is nowhere to be found. I might try my iPhone instead if I try again.
From what I can tell the are issues with it on iOS.
Welp, this update might finally kill off the little hamster running his exercise wheel inside my Kindle. Tried the new photo option and my in-game town view is stuck in ‘super zoom’…I can only view about two land tiles max. Also, creating the picture takes forever. About 3-4 percent per minute. I’m no Safi math wiz, but I calc that out to be…a long time. Can’t say for sure since I left the Kindle running for a bit and it went to ‘sleep’ and lost my progress. Speaking of sleep…I will retry in the morning.
Well, I can’t capture an image because of a lack of space (doesn’t seem to be able to save to SD cards, unfortunately), and now I can’t zoom out at all, but I’m still really happy that this feature is here. Someday I find a way to use it.
Sigh. I tried the new feature, and it got all the way to the end of the 2nd part (compiling), 22.4MB, asked me if I wanted to save it, I said yes, and it said it “encountered an unknown error. Please try again.” Oh, well, maybe it’ll work for me tomorrow… (Should be plenty space on my iPad.)
I think there is an issue on iOS…
Same experience here. 3 tries, 3 sizes and unknown error saving each time.
Do you try/have just one device? I received “Cannot save image due to lack of storage space” (ios, iPad 9.7) with 40GB free storage. Tried on iPhone 6S and it exported the image (with characters) easily. There may be some bugs upon rollout, could be ironed out soon.
I got the same error, but like magic it appeared in my pic folder ten minutes later. Giant freaking file at 39 MB, but a neat feature.
Success! And, like some other users, I eventually discovered that the first attempt DID save, it just SAID it didn’t! Sweet.
Is there an issue with the Amazon update?…on my tablet the camera is zoomed in super close and the interface is tiny
This update messed my game up. My game (playing on Amazon Fire HD8 6th gen) is stuck zoomed almost all the way in and all the icons and pop ups from the user interface have shrunk to almost half their normal size. It’s practically unplayable the way it is now.
Same here. Made the ‘Finding Maggie’ quite a challenge.
On Kindle, all of the menu and navigation icons are tiny, and my screen is way too zoomed in now. It’s hard to play. No such problems on my Android, thank goodness. The photo feature didn’t work on Kindle either, but that’s not important to me.
Well I didn’t get the last mini even with Alice Glick. So hope not sure if I’ll get the valentines. Seems like I keep getting bugs. Very irritating. Hope ea makes.

Can I just say quickly how incredibly excited I am for the snapshot feature? It’s kinda what I was requesting when the thread went up a few weeks (ish?) ago. Oh boy.. 🙂
