Tappers 101- Back to Basics: Confirm that Donut Purchase

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another Tappers 101 Class, this time we’re talking about how to configure your game to confirm any and all donut purchases.  With the introduction of more premium content, the Gil Special, and Limited Time events it’s easy to accidentally spend donuts while scrolling through the items.  2013-12-02 18.31.27

The good news is EA has an option in TSTO that allows/requires you to confirm any and all donut spending  and way back when Addicts first started I covered this topic and the step by step guide on how to turn on your Confirm Donut Spend button.  You can read the full detailed post here.  Here’s the Tappers 101 version:

-Click on the Pink “Get More” button on your main screen.
-Once that opens tap the i in the top right hand corner.
-Change the Confirm Donut Spend option to “Yes” and close out of it

And that’s it!  Now, every time you make a purchase with donuts it will prompt you with an “Are You Sure?” box.
NOTE: If you play across multiple devices you have to change this setting on each device, not just the account.

Again for the more detailed Step by Step post, including photos, check out our previous post on Setting the Confirm Donut Purchase button here.

From time to time Tappers new and old can get caught up in the game and forget some of the basics, that can cause a delay in your game.  While we have a full New Tappers Guide on Addicts, sometimes you just want the information at your fingertips right away so you can get back to tapping as quickly as possible.  Keeping that in mind, we’ve started a new biweekly column for the “quick hit” information Tappers need to keep the game moving.  Here’s where you can find all of our tips and tricks to help your game move along smoothly.

Most of the topics covered will be from your questions in the comments, so you have something you’d like us to cover in Tappers 101 please feel free to leave it for us in the comments below.

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: What to Do When the Servers Are Down

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another Tappers 101 Class, this time we’re talking about what to do when see, every TSTO Addict’s nightmare, Bart pulling your game and the inability to connect to the servers.  This is something that’s been popping up more and more lately with the introduction of the larger holiday updates, and way back when Addicts first started I covered this topic and some tips to help you manage if happens to you.  You can read the full detailed post here.  Here’s the Tappers 101 verison:
2013-11-22 01.28.41Usually when you first see Bart appear panic sets in, and you start to think ‘Ahhh, What happened?’ ‘What did I do?’  ’What can I do?’  ’WHERE DID MY SPRINGFIELD GO?!’ ‘WHY YOU LITTLE…’

Well first of all…R-E-L-A-X.  There’s nothing you can do.  So, don’t panic.  Just wait and be patient.  It’s a problem with the servers, and they’ll come back up again they always do (usually within a couple of hours).  And I promise you…your Springfield will still be there when they come back up.  I know it’s hard for us Addicts, but TRY to find something else to do until the servers come back up.

Curious if there’s something you can do to check the server status?  Check out our original post for some proactive things you can do to check the server status.

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: HELP! I Was At Level 37 and Now It Says Level 27!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another Tappers 101 Class, this time we’re talking about what to do when your game knocks you down to a lower level of Tapped Out.  This is a common glitch we’re hearing that’s occurring with the introduction of Level 37 and way back when Addicts first started Mark covered this topic and what to do if it happens to you.  You can read Mark’s full detailed post here.  Here’s the Tappers 101 verison:
5th_Grade_Classroom

So you’ve been playing at level 37 and you login to your game and it’s completely reverted to an older version of your game (way back to level 27 or earlier!). *gasp* All those items, all those Halloween limited time items…GONE.  Panic sets in, what do you do?!

I know this can be quite traumatic, especially when you put all of the time and effort into building your town and you lose all of those items! First thing is don’t panic!  I know that’s easier said then done, but I promise you panicking won’t help.  Try these steps before letting panic set in:
1. Did your device log you out? It may seem like a ‘duh’ moment, but this happens more often than you think, especially if you’re not paying attention and just start tapping when the game loads.  If you’re not paying attention and just tap where you usually tap to enter the game, from time to time you’ll end up playing anonymously.  Every so often the Origin sever will log you out of the game.  So pay attention and check to see if you’re still logged in.  If not, you’ll have to do a hard close of the game, go back to the start up screen, and login.
2. Is the Origin logo missing?  Don’t panic – they’re just working on the Origin server.
3. Don’t EVER try to create a new account on the same email – you may really end up losing your Springfield and resetting your game to level 1. EA can probably work it out, but it takes time.

Also, be sure you alert EA to the problem (sometimes they give Donuts for the issues) you can find all of the details direct from EA here.  (you can also check out this post from Bunny if you need help opening a case with EA).

Don’t play the level where it sits right now. Try the steps listed in the above first. It is a known issue with the level 37 update right now, and EA is working on it. So if those steps don’t work, make sure you open a case with EA and try to be patient. I know it’s easier said than done, but it should be corrected soon.

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: Knocking A Character Out of A Task, With Out Using Donuts

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another Tappers 101 Class, this time we’re talking about how to cancel tasks and free up a character without having to spend donuts.  Way back when Addicts first started I covered this topic using Apu and his 7 Day Kwik-E-Mart shift as an example.  You can find the full walkthrough/how-to of this (with photos) here (you can also find the Halloween edition here).  Here’s the Tappers 101 verison:
5th_Grade_Classroom
You can knock characters out of tasks without using donuts quickly and easily by storing the character and/or building they arrived in Springfield in.  To do this simply tap the 4-way arrow, move stuff, button on your main Springfield.  Then find the building/character you wish to store, tap on it and tap the cardboard box icon.  If a character didn’t come with a building, like the Rich Texan, simply store the building they’re currently located in to knock them out of it.  Or store the character itself by tapping on them.   Again for full details check out the how to post here.

This should help you avoid spending donuts to rush up a character you sent on a task by mistake, this can also come in handy when a new level starts and the character you need to start the update is off on a 24hr task.

For quick reference here’s a guide to which character came with which building hit read more…

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: Help Me Find My Character!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers,

Way back in August I wrote a full detailed post about easier ways to find your Characters in your Springfield.  You can find the full detailed how-to post here.  But here’s the Tappers 101 version:
5th_Grade_Classroom

Hide your buildings and decorations.  This will cause all structures and decorations to become translucent, however your characters will remain in full color.  At this point you should be able to easily spot the missing character.

To hide buildings and decorations, just hit the 4-way arrows, move-stuff button, on your main screen.  Then just close the “eyes” for buildings and decorations (tap the Simpsons house and the park bench).

Again you can find the detailed how to post here (with photos).

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: Building Bridges

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another edition of Tappers 101!  This time let’s talk about how to build bridges in your Springfield.

Note wayyyyy back when Addicts first started I wrote a detailed post on this, including photos and step by step instructions.  You can find the detailed how-to post here.  Here’s the Tappers 101 Version:
Coveting that bridge in your neighbor’s Springfield?  Searching like crazy to figure out just where you can buy it?  Coming up empty handed time and time again?  Making you insane?!  Well the good news is the bridges are free and, once you know how, they’re so easy to build even Ralph Wiggum could do it!  (ok maybe not THAT easy!)
To build a bridge in your Springfield simply build a river & place a roadway over it.  Yes it really is that simple.  Again for detailed step-by-step instructions (with photos) check out this post here.

Tappers 101- Back to Basics: I’m Level 30, but I’m only able to Build Buildings for Level 26

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So you’re XP rating says you’ve reached level 30, but you’ve only just unlocked the Wiggum house.  Why can’t you build Herman’s Shop?  Let’s talk about what happens when your game XP and your game play don’t match up.

This happens from time to time, especially if you’re someone who loves to decorate your Springfield and earns tons of extra XP from your decorations.  There will be points in the game when your XP level is higher than your actual game play.  (this also happens if you have a high conform-o-meter bonus and multiple premium bonuses)  Unfortunately, all you can do is keep playing the game.  Build the buildings that are unlocked, and as you progress new buildings will unlock for you.  As your game play catches up to your XP rating you’ll start to unlock the buildings and decorations associated with the levels .  🙂
