A lil note from Wookiee…
Hey howdy hey Addictereenos! How y’all doing?
TSTO Blogging isn’t all about the game. One of the main reasons I love this gig so much is just that I love the Simpsons universe and always have since I started watching at the tender age of 8. My fanboy flag waves high for the show and even when I’m not writing or moderating or doing something connected to TSTO Addicts, I’m watching the show because it makes me happy. I like to laugh and jokes are never in short supply when it comes to Homer and company.
So, the other day, I was re-watching some of my favorite episodes and in the middle of S3:E20 “Colonel Homer”, I said to myself, “Self… this would make one heck of a level update in TSTO.” SO many great ideas that could make a new level for my favorite game. Even more, I wondered how many Addicts have watched an episode and thought the same thing. Follow this with some discussion between Team Addicts and Voila!… we decided to find out with a NEW CONTEST!!!
Yes we said a BRAND NEW CONTEST!!!! Here at Addicts HQ summer is in full swing and we’ve completely lost our minds, wait did we ever have them to begin with? 😉 We’re once again giving away FREE Donuts!!! We’ve really & completely lost our minds! So let’s talk about this Contest (before we change our minds)…..
So here’s the skinny…..
The Addicts team wants YOU the readers to come up with a level idea. Basically a building/character combo for both freemium and premium, decorations, etc. Think back on previous levels and how they usually come. Each level creation must include:
-Freemium Character/Building Combo with cost/build time
-Premium Character (or skin) with Cost. This can have a decoration or building combo with it (like Lampwick and the Rocket Car) or it can just be the character (like Blue Haired Lawyer)
-At least 1 freemium or premium decoration with pricing. Can have more than one if desired.
-Tasks with description, times and payouts for each task.
-Level Up Character, Message & Donuts awarded.
-A General Idea of what the questline would include. Actual dialog not needed, but a basic description of what kind of trouble the characters would get into. (If you want to do dialog…Feel free to make a few silly jabs at yourself, the Addicts, your neighboreenos… or even EA… just like they do)

All entries MUST be submitted by 11:59 pm on July 31st, 2014. The TSTO Addicts team will then go through all entries and pick the top 10 that we think are the absolute best. We will post the top 10 on our website the following week (sometime during the week of August 4th-8th) and then open it up to the readers of TSTOAddicts.com to vote on which one they like the best. Voting will open once they are posted and will close by August 10th 2014 at 11:59pm. The top 5 vote getters will be our big winners. Winners will be announced sometime during the week of August 11th – 15th.

Because we know examples can be helpful, Wookiee did his own idea for the episode mentioned earlier. And here’s the Wookiee to explain his Level….
“Colonel Homer” really is one of my favorite episodes of this show. Quite possibly due to Lurleen Lumpkin being one of my first cartoon crushes behind Jessica Rabbit (I’m a sucker for a southern girl).
She would of course be freemium and her tasks could vary from playing country to trying to seduce Homer or even attending rehab. She could also have a task to sing with her father, pay her taxes or bowl with the Home-wreckers. If anything, she’d add another female to our short list in TSTO. Lurleen could also add a task to the Outdoor Stage.
The building I’d love to see her come with would be The Beer ‘N’ Brawl.
Of course some Simpsons nerd would remind me this is actually in Spittle County at least 100 miles away from Springfield but when has that ever mattered in TSTO? Another cool building she could come with would be her trailer.
For a premium offering (although I’d rather have everything for game cash), we’d of course have to have a Colonel Homer skin. Tasks could include avoiding Lurleen’s advances, getting gigs, attending recordings and just generally looking awesome.
This could come as just a skin or with a building. There are a lot of great ones available just from this episode.
The Corpulent Cowboy is the one that truly gets my vote but I dig both recording studios also. I included Flaming Pete’s just because that gag in the episode gets me every time and it’s obsure enough to be something EA would pick lol.
The building I truly want from this episode actually has nothing to do with the main plot other than Marge upsetting Homer at a movie. I seriously would love the Springfield Googolplex to be the premium offering behind these other two.
Other than it’s awesome math nerd name, it could add tasks for characters already in game. The kids could become desensitized to violence and Homer could have a task to ruin movies/point out movie flaws. Heck it could be a joint task for each family to all go together.
The last two items for examination are just a new decoration i thought of and a completely random NPC for giggles. This level idea could also include a Lurleen bench and Yodeling Zeke.
Lots of great things could be in a questline about Lurleen’s return. The Rich Texan could get involved. I’d love to see Sideshow Mel take Krusty’s sister to the Copa and Homer and Lenny sing to their bowling balls.
Well, those are just my ideas and an example of what a contest submission could look like. We are all super excited for this one and can’t wait to see all the awesome ideas you guys and gals come up with.

Premium quest line: Larry tries again to patch things up with Mr Burns. Smithers gets jealous of all the time they are spending together and tries to bring them apart.

The basic quest-line idea would be very close to the episode. Starts with Lisa and Marge go out of town to help the baby seals in the oil spill along the beach.

I myself am too lazy to think thoroughly on a full level update but I’d like some stuff from the Simpsons movie. The freemium building could be the Alaskan cabin. A premium item could be the woman homer finds along with her igloo. That’s all I got so if someone could add to that feel free to take the credit for yourselves

Ive mentined this before, I would love to see an event based on the movie. Start it off with homer and bart and their dare contest. I wouldnt want the story to mimic the movie exactly but have some simmilarities and a few referencecs to the other show about a town traped by a dome lol.
Freemium stuff: Russ Cargill, Green Day barge, Homers motorcyle, ball of death, Rock and Hard Place, scissor jack, pig crap silo.
Premium: Presedent Schwarzenegger, Emperor Moe skin, spiderpig, the squirl with 1000 eyes, the Alaksa cabin, Boob Lady, Colin.
I thought tattered clothes skins could be prizes like the stonecutters skins and EPA guards running around simmilar to the order during the stonecutter event.

Before I start my idea, I love Wookie’s level idea, as Lurleen has been on my list of stuff I want in TSTO. Heres my ideas, the Level Up characters are Patty & Selma with their message being “So we see you’ve made it to another level. We’re going to have a silky smooth Laramie to celebrate, you have these 2 donuts.” My new level idea is based on “The Joy of Sect” episode which is one of my favorite episodes of all time. The building/characters that would kick off the event would be Glen & Jane with the Movementarian Compound and as soon as the building is placed, Glen & Jane start trying to get the Springfield residents to join the compound. This could probably be made into an event, but I tried to make it more for a level. It may be a bit similar to The Stonecutters event, but once some of the Springfield residents have been brainwashed, they get a new skin in the form of the grey uniform from the episode. The main story is very similar to the episode with Marge on a mission to stop the Movementarian. Now for all my freemium/preemium ideas:
Freemium Characters: Glen & Jane together, similar to Sherry & Terry. Their quests would be:
Find New Followers – 1 Hour
Start “The Leader” Chant – 4 Hours

Premium Character: The Leader comes with his “Spaceship” for a cost of 120 Donuts. The “Spaceship” gives a 2.75% bonus on money and XP. The Leader’s tasks would be:

I am getting bored with my squidport so I would love to do an episode based on that like where mr. Burns builds the casino. The casino would be the freemium building maybe$ 850 000 and could come with scary old germaphobic mr. Burns skin. Some more attractions could be available for squidport as premium like maybe the tiger could wonder around like the street performer with one of the trainers for 120 donuts and the place homer and marge ate once there where no matter what you order its all one meat coming down tubes I forget the name but could be 80 donuts or whatever would add to gluttony and casino would add to consumerism. Marges tasks could include a 24 hour “forget to help lisa with her costume” at casino and a task for mr. Burns involving the spruce goose ( dont quote me I am getting older these days lol) there could even be a skin for lisa that unlocks on completion of level with the awful costume homer made? Just an idea cos my squidport is very neglected

The quest for Baby Gerald will be him attacking and failing at trying to attack Maggie. After all that they become frenemies
There can be a one part task with Kang as they he finds out that Maggie is his son.

This would be a cool way to finally get Maggie in more than Marge’s arms. Who knows if EA will take any of our suggestions. I think it’d be super cool if they did.
Just a skeleton of an idea, I’ll leave the prizes for someone less lazy.
A Radioactive Man/Fallout Boy level with skins for Wolfcastle and Millhouse. Premium characters could be the casting agent, a director or preferably the Scoutmaster. Aqualand and a delicately balancing truck for Fallout Boy to be stuck under for buildings. Tasks linked to Bart’s jealousy, Comic Book Guy looking for scoops/complaining about the movie and Moe’s child actor past. Plus Wolfcastle practicing to say “up and atom”.
The main storyline would be a Radioactive Man sequel/reboot, so you get a few gags about that Hollywood trend, and Millhouse being forced back into the role he hated, by contractual obligations and/or deadbeat Kirk pressuring him into it for the money. Hijinks then ensue in some fashion.
Nice idea… so basically Addicts, Steve gave you permission to flesh out this idea if you like lol.
Well here’s my submission based on an episode I’m a big fan of: Homer the Vigilante. There’s a secret reason I’m choosing this episode that you’ll find out below.
Level 43 hits with Jasper – ’43? That was a helluva year.’
Free Character and Building:
Cat Burgler Molloy with The Tea Factory.
The factory is only used in a quick gag (Molloy says his loot is hidden under a big ‘T’ causing much confusion for the residents of Springfield) but it’s a cool looking building that fits the very sophisticated Molloy pretty well.
Molloy’s Tasks:
1 hr Hide in Plain Sight (Outdoors. Molloy dons a pair of dark glasses and sidles around your Springfield)
2 hr Borrow Abe’s Ointment (Springfield Retirement Castle)
4 hr Evade the Police (Outdoors – Joint task with Wiggum. Molloy is ‘caught’ by Wiggum but then throws a Donut to distract the cop)
8 hr Brew the Perfect Tea (The Tea Factory)
12 hr Go Cat-Burglering (Indoors but he moves between different homes throughout the task)
24 hr Burgle the Museum (Springfield Natural History Museum (This is the special reason for choosing this episode. Let’s add some tasks for the Museum and give people a reason to buy it))
And the Premium addition is a Skin. Vigilante Homer which doesn’t come with any decorations or buildings so its nice and cheap (at about 30 donuts). Vigilante Homer isn’t really tied to a particular building or item so I kept him on his own.
Vigilante Homer’s Tasks:
1 hr Pick Up Supplies (Hermann’s Military Antiques)
4 hr Perform Secret Handshake (Outdoors – Joint task with Skinner. The posse’s secret handshake is technically performed by Homer and Barney but since Barney’s premium and I’m using him for the 12hr task, I thought I’d mix it up a bit)
8 hr Drill Troops (Simpson Home)
12 hr Patrol the Streets (Outdoors – Joint task with Barney. Barney drives around town with Homer in his sidecar, shouting through a megaphone)
16 hr Stake out the Museum (Springfield Natural History Museum (Another task for people with the Museum. This one has Homer standing outside ‘on patrol’))
24 hr Jug Dance (Outdoors – Joint task with Lisa. If you don’t remember this great gag, rewatch the episode)
Two Decorations:
The ‘T’ Tree is a premium item that should make a nice feature in a park or similar setting.
The other (free) decoration is the Fancy Sculpture that Abe and Jasper try to steal. This would look great around the Museum or any of the mansions we have in our Springfields.
The Questline would kick off when Mr. Burns’ discovers that Springfield’s tea supplies are running down and he demands that Smithers rebuild the Tea Factory so he can have the perfect breakfast. Unfortunately, this brings Molloy back into Springfield. He soon begins stealing again and various Springfielders begin to take security measures. Molloy manages to rally the Old Folk (Abe, Burns, Agnes etc.) to his side, convincing them to live a little and a crime wave descends on Springfield. Lisa forces Wiggum to get involved and he rounds up all the Old People in town and drags them into court. They all get sent to jail (although Mr. Burns manages to bribe his way free) and decide not to follow Molloy’s example anymore.
Vigilante Homer has a separate questline which sees him reform the Neighborhood Watch and start a rivalry with Chief Wiggum.
Hope you liked it. It’s not the most nostalgic character to bring back but it’s one who I always liked and bringing some activity to the Museum is an added bonus. Really though, I just want Homer dancing to the dulcet sounds of Lisa playing the Jug.

I like it. They could even bring back the Fruit Bat Man skin for Mr Burns as a premium skin!
That’s a cool idea. Maybe when all the old people start their crime wave, Fruit Bat Man (if you have him) opens up a sort of mini-side quest where Burns decides to be a villain. Maybe something similar with Gorgeous Grampa. If you didn’t have them, you could buy both with donuts as well. Help out the completionists.

So many great ideas… (sigh)… Can we bring back Mr. Bergstrom? He must be worth at least 120 doughnuts. Ok, here we go… for a start…
* Mrs. Hoover gets (she thinks) Lyme disease
* Once Mr. Bergstrom is bought, send him to teach at Springfield Elementary complete with cowboy garb (6 hours) (link this task with Lisa, Bart, Milhouse, Ralph, and Nelson “go to school”)
* Mrs. Krabbapple tries to seduce Mr. Bergstrom (1 hour)
* Mr. Bergstrom hosts detention (4 hours)
* Build the Springfield Natural History Museum (24-36 hours) (this could be used later for class field trips),
* Bergstrom takes Lisa to the Natural History Museum (linked task) (3 hours)
* Bergstrom tells Homer Lisa is special and that he needs to be a better role model (30 minutes)
* Mrs. Hoover returns and Lisa runs out of the classroom to find Mr. Bergstrom (3 hours)
* Build the Mr. Bergstrom’s train ($50,000: 12 hours)
* Lisa says good-bye to Mr. Bergstrom and he gives her the “You are Lisa Simpson” note (30 minutes)
Add a side task where Bart runs for class president and loses to Martin (link Bart, Milhouse, and Martin for 12 hours)? Have Homer comfort Bart for losing the election (1 hour), then acts like a baboon to cheer up Lisa?

Sure. It’s not about being accurate (or correctly predicting) it’s about being creative and having an idea others like 🙂 So I don’t see that as having an edge or anything.

The questline could be called Deep space homer and consist of buying the space shuttle and nasa headquarters and be about homer preparing and going to space

Sorta a whackin day event – evil enterprise crashes with evil tribbles – tribbles run all over springfield and try to get into your grain storage – cosplay CBG & good Kirk skin homer have to phaser blast tribbles for dilithium crystals / you can visit friends springfield’s and smash tribbles in their towns for dilithium crystals
Quest: once evil Spock is unlocked, he teams up with Mr Burns, of course, and needs nuclear fuel rods to help power up crashed enterprise – homer(Kirk) has to stop them – he does, and Spock gets a drink with number 1(aka Jean-Luc Picard) at stonecutters lodge

You may. However, it needs to be tweaked to an extent and can’t ALL be based off of something in the files. For example…if you want to add the World’s Largest Toilet (STILL waiting for that to hit the game!) you can but you’ll still need some new original content as well. And ideally you’ll have a price adjustment for it (although I don’t think that had a set price in the files)

BEST…IDEA…EVER…
We get a real playable character of sideshow bob. Bart kicks it off and he goes to the police station for 12 hours to look up past criminals. After the 12 hours we get the HE’S…..BACK…and we build the Springfield dam and sideshow bob is there. The item we can buy is the old smell hound who had cement poured on him. For 30 – 40 donuts we get the cement pourer (looked at other vehicle prices for this) and construction zone signs for 4500 to 5000 dollars. Cecil Tetwilliger and the bosses trailer for 150 can be the premium item.
That should be the next level up.
