A lil note from Wookiee…
Hey howdy hey Addictereenos! How y’all doing?
TSTO Blogging isn’t all about the game. One of the main reasons I love this gig so much is just that I love the Simpsons universe and always have since I started watching at the tender age of 8. My fanboy flag waves high for the show and even when I’m not writing or moderating or doing something connected to TSTO Addicts, I’m watching the show because it makes me happy. I like to laugh and jokes are never in short supply when it comes to Homer and company.
So, the other day, I was re-watching some of my favorite episodes and in the middle of S3:E20 “Colonel Homer”, I said to myself, “Self… this would make one heck of a level update in TSTO.” SO many great ideas that could make a new level for my favorite game. Even more, I wondered how many Addicts have watched an episode and thought the same thing. Follow this with some discussion between Team Addicts and Voila!… we decided to find out with a NEW CONTEST!!!
Yes we said a BRAND NEW CONTEST!!!! Here at Addicts HQ summer is in full swing and we’ve completely lost our minds, wait did we ever have them to begin with? 😉 We’re once again giving away FREE Donuts!!! We’ve really & completely lost our minds! So let’s talk about this Contest (before we change our minds)…..
So here’s the skinny…..
The Addicts team wants YOU the readers to come up with a level idea. Basically a building/character combo for both freemium and premium, decorations, etc. Think back on previous levels and how they usually come. Each level creation must include:
-Freemium Character/Building Combo with cost/build time
-Premium Character (or skin) with Cost. This can have a decoration or building combo with it (like Lampwick and the Rocket Car) or it can just be the character (like Blue Haired Lawyer)
-At least 1 freemium or premium decoration with pricing. Can have more than one if desired.
-Tasks with description, times and payouts for each task.
-Level Up Character, Message & Donuts awarded.
-A General Idea of what the questline would include. Actual dialog not needed, but a basic description of what kind of trouble the characters would get into. (If you want to do dialog…Feel free to make a few silly jabs at yourself, the Addicts, your neighboreenos… or even EA… just like they do)

All entries MUST be submitted by 11:59 pm on July 31st, 2014. The TSTO Addicts team will then go through all entries and pick the top 10 that we think are the absolute best. We will post the top 10 on our website the following week (sometime during the week of August 4th-8th) and then open it up to the readers of TSTOAddicts.com to vote on which one they like the best. Voting will open once they are posted and will close by August 10th 2014 at 11:59pm. The top 5 vote getters will be our big winners. Winners will be announced sometime during the week of August 11th – 15th.

Because we know examples can be helpful, Wookiee did his own idea for the episode mentioned earlier. And here’s the Wookiee to explain his Level….
“Colonel Homer” really is one of my favorite episodes of this show. Quite possibly due to Lurleen Lumpkin being one of my first cartoon crushes behind Jessica Rabbit (I’m a sucker for a southern girl).
She would of course be freemium and her tasks could vary from playing country to trying to seduce Homer or even attending rehab. She could also have a task to sing with her father, pay her taxes or bowl with the Home-wreckers. If anything, she’d add another female to our short list in TSTO. Lurleen could also add a task to the Outdoor Stage.
The building I’d love to see her come with would be The Beer ‘N’ Brawl.
Of course some Simpsons nerd would remind me this is actually in Spittle County at least 100 miles away from Springfield but when has that ever mattered in TSTO? Another cool building she could come with would be her trailer.
For a premium offering (although I’d rather have everything for game cash), we’d of course have to have a Colonel Homer skin. Tasks could include avoiding Lurleen’s advances, getting gigs, attending recordings and just generally looking awesome.
This could come as just a skin or with a building. There are a lot of great ones available just from this episode.
The Corpulent Cowboy is the one that truly gets my vote but I dig both recording studios also. I included Flaming Pete’s just because that gag in the episode gets me every time and it’s obsure enough to be something EA would pick lol.
The building I truly want from this episode actually has nothing to do with the main plot other than Marge upsetting Homer at a movie. I seriously would love the Springfield Googolplex to be the premium offering behind these other two.
Other than it’s awesome math nerd name, it could add tasks for characters already in game. The kids could become desensitized to violence and Homer could have a task to ruin movies/point out movie flaws. Heck it could be a joint task for each family to all go together.
The last two items for examination are just a new decoration i thought of and a completely random NPC for giggles. This level idea could also include a Lurleen bench and Yodeling Zeke.
Lots of great things could be in a questline about Lurleen’s return. The Rich Texan could get involved. I’d love to see Sideshow Mel take Krusty’s sister to the Copa and Homer and Lenny sing to their bowling balls.
Well, those are just my ideas and an example of what a contest submission could look like. We are all super excited for this one and can’t wait to see all the awesome ideas you guys and gals come up with.

I’ve got a few ideas floating around, I tried thinking up one for “Who shot Mr. Burns?”, but I’m not sure how the quest/level would work out in regards to adding new characters/skins to the game… Onto the next idea! lol
Not sure if someone has already considered it, but just as a suggestion, I think an event playing the “Beer Baron” episode would be awesome.

Generally, following a lot of the plot of the classic episode “Bart the Daredevil” with some adapting to fit the game.
After witnessing Captain Lance Murdock’s stunts, Bart is obsessed with becoming a famous daredevil himself. He practices stunts and gets injured, but is all the more determined to become a great stuntman. Lisa tries to dissuade him by making him watch grisly stunt injuries online, and then having him talk to his hero in the hospital, but nothing works. Finally, Homer himself intercedes and – following a heart-to-heart with Bart that talks him out of the dangerous stunt, falls into the gorge himself. (One time 12 hour task paying 5 donuts).
My idea is an expansion on an even grander scale than Krustyland (though with a similar portal) into SPACE!!! Yes that’s right I’m talking a full Futurama tie in! It all begins with a little human fella called Fry who gets frozen by frink and before we know what’s happening, kang, kodos and number 51 have transported the poor fella off into a whole new landscape amongst the stars with our dear friends bender, leela, zoidberg et al. What’s the portal? Why simply tap on the black hole (mine is at the focal point of my giant magnifying glass btw, just in front of my superconductor) to be flung into the far future! Instead of land you can buy space and instead of buildings and cars you can get planets, space stations and ships! No more fretting about running out of room in your Springfield. Massive new opportunity for character development and gags. Wish fulfilment for fans with crossover potential on characters (imagine Springfield characters turning up in space and vice versa). Stupid quahog could only watch and weep while the greatest game ever literally blasts into the stratosphere before it’s very eyes! It’s a beautiful dream. Please Gir the love of god, make it so!! X

I’m in the middle of writing up my (admittedly complex) idea. Based on everyone else’s public entry, so far it is unique! I’m excited about this contest because I was planning to do this anyway. I would love to see misses Quimby come into the game mainly because I have missed bring field and would like to see them get into a catfight. Also Quimby’s brother could be the premium character and his tasks could include learn how to say “Chowder” since that’s the only thing I remember from that episode.

I know it’s highly unlikely EA will ever release these characters but it would be awesome to see them in our games someday because they are really cool and very memorable.
Let me just say that you addicts are pretty creative (and some should probably seek employment as tsto writers). I am blown away by these levels and would love to see ea implement them. Great idea for the contest, Wook, it really brought out the best in us.

The Bushes are back! Who can even remember why they left? Something with locusts… (and whatever happened to President Ford?) Anyway, this time it’s Lisa who has a beef with Bush. Bush is tired of being embarrassed by Cletus, Disco Stu, and all the town yokels when he has Gorbachev over. To class it up a little, Bush plans to have a delicate ecosystem of trees torn down to make room for an exclusive, private, country club. Lisa tries to enlist Bart’s help, even though he can’t remember why he hates Bush in the first place. Lisa has her prankster mastermind brother, but Bush has the town elite on his side. Who will prevail? And more importantly, is there time for lemonade?
I really like this idea. I cool little twist at the end would be if you actually got a large Country Club for completing the quest and there was some sort of comment about storing trees in cardboard boxes to make space. You can get some good land jokes out of it as well.

One episode I would absolutely love to see in an update would b the Halloween special.of the shinning one of my favorite episodes maybe they could add the mansion and quest line could b like homer trying to kill his family or something similar to the episode. I’ve missed the Halloween update twice in a row so maybe theyve already done it idk I’m determind to see it this ur tho however spider pig would b just as good could tap on him to hear the spider pig song or something lol

Lionel Hutz would follow him through a typical day-in-the-life-of. He’d also have a bonus questline after Troy’s questline was over where he has to defend Troy in court from the makers of the Harry Potter movies.

Quest: “Choosing My Religion”
The premise of this questline is that Helen has returned to Springfield and wants to promote the Christian faith. She is also up to her typical gossipy ways. However, during the quest, Rabbi Krustofski returns and establishes Temple Beth Springfield, bringing Judaism back to Springfield. Helen tries to prevent the temple from taking her followers and subsequently their donations. After an unsuccessful attempt to gather congregation members, Helen and Reverend Lovejoy decide to have a bakesale to raise awareness and funds for the church and a bowling tournament. When these aren’t successful, she overindulges in holy wine and causes an incident in town, getting into a fight with Rabbi Krustofski, the Buddhists (Lisa, Carl, and Lenny), and the Hindus (Apu, Sanjay, and Manjula). After the three congregations fight for followers and the town members stop attending church and therefore donating to the church, Mayor Quimby gets involved, as the town taxes each congregation. He smooths things over between the three groups. Helen then returns to her duty of thinking of the children.
