With 1 week to go until Thanksgiving here in the US…it’s Turkey Time in Springfield! A little Thanksgiving Update has hit our Tapping Devices this morning…
More details as we go through them…but it should auto-start with some dialogue between Homer and Flanders…
(FYI if you don’t see it immediately…try hard closing and restarting TSTO. Sometimes that helps to trigger it)

WARNING MILD SPOILERS AHEAD….
First up, as mentioned above, some dialogue will be started between Homer and Flanders….
Homer: Thanksgiving! The high holiday of gorging! Uncluttered with Yule logs, Easter egg hunts, flag saluting or the yoinking out of groundhogs.
Flanders: It’s also a time for solemn prayer and giving thanks to Our —
Homer: Stuff it, Flanders! Like every holiday, the turkey season combines my three favorite things — Eating, quests and prizes.
Flanders: But do you have any idea what day comes AFTER Thanksgiving?
Homer: LEFTOVERS DAY!
Flanders: I was talking about Black Friday.
Homer: Martin Luther King Day?
Flanders: You really are clueless. Looks like I’m going to have to educate you in the mannor of Miles Flandish.
Miles Flandish: One-two, buckle my shoes! Three four Pilgrim-ize some more!
At this point you’ll get Puritan Flanders (he’ll be in your Inventory..and this is a skin for Ned) for FREE!!
If you don’t already have her, you will also be giving Sacagawea Lisa (returning from last Thanksgiving) for FREE as well! (She’ll also be in your Inventory…and is a Skin for Lisa).
Now let’s take a look at the rest of the Turkey Day Goodies!
New Stuff:
Unfortunately…beyond Puritan Flanders all the new Stuff of this Thanksgiving is Premium. Here’s the break down of what’s new:
Piggly’s Super Smorg- 140 Donuts. Earns $135, 15xp/4hrs. Comes with Jacqueline Bouvier (FINALLY)
Caged Tom Turkey- 100 Donuts. Earns 3% bonus on all cash and xp.
Heimlich Machine- 60 Donuts. Earns 2.5% bonus on all cash and xp.
Now for what’s returning from Thanksgiving 2012 and 2013…
Returning stuff…
Rusty the Clown Balloon- $5,400
Blinky Balloon- $16,500
Santa’s Little Helper Balloon- $30,000
Snowball II Balloon- 15 Donuts. Earns 0.50% bonus on all cash and xp.
The Grumple Balloon- 25 Donuts. Earns 2% bonus on all cash and xp
Stampy Balloon- 40 Donuts. Earns 2% bonus on all cash and xp.
ALL BALLOONS improve your Vanity Rating..
Caesar’s Pow-Wow Casino- 150 Donuts. Earns $200, 22xp/ 8hrs. Comes with Tribal Chief.
Caesar’s Pow-Wow’s Casino Sign- 40 Donuts. Earns 2% bonus on all cash and xp.
The Mayflower- 100 Donuts. Earns 3% bonus on all cash and xp.
Characters:
Tribal Chief- Comes with Caesar Pow Wow’s.
Jacqueline Bouvier- Comes with Piggly’s Super Smorg.
After you complete part 3 of the Thanksgiving questline & start part 4, you’ll be awarded a FREE Cornucopia! (again it’ll be in your inventory) Then you’ll be able to purchase more, if you so choose. But it won’t appear in your store until after you’ve gotten the free one.
Cornucopia- Earns 0.50% bonus on all cash and xp. You can also purchase more for 15 Donuts.
At this point…the questline will be stalled until Monday 11/24, when we’ll get another piece of the Thanksgiving puzzle!
AFTER you start the dialogue between Flanders and Homer…Lisa will popup with a quest…
This will be the start of the Episode Tie-In….
For the most part it’s just two quick parts…for now. A 6s task with Homer and Lisa and then a 1hr Task where Homer goes to Moe’s. Then you’ll see a popup telling you to watch the Simpsons on Sunday to see what’s happened to King Toots…
After you complete part 2 of the questline, where Homer goes to Moe’s for an hr, you’ll have the option to purchase…
Guitar Central- 50 Donuts. Earns $135, 15xp/ 4hrs (Requires you to be at Level 17).
If you purchase Guitar Central…the questline will continue for you…
Items Missing from the Store:
When you first start up the Thanksgiving Event the store looks like this:
With all of the Thanksgiving items clearly marked and Recommended. But after you leave TSTO and come back it might look like this:
And you might be panicking that Thanksgiving is gone from your game! BUT…fear not! Because it isn’t….To get it back all you have to do is expand the store menu:
And find the Thanksgiving Icon:
And presto! Thanksgiving will return:
Remember…Bunny outlined the details of the new Menu in this post, which reminds you that the Event Icon will change from time to time, but you should always be able to find it when you expand the menu. 🙂

Do you know if the quest from last year’s thanksgiving will unlock with the Lisa skin for those who just got it?
Not that I can tell. She just has quests for the main 2014 questline..
Any idea if the turkey from last year will be released? I sure hope so but I have a feeling I will have to wait like I am still waiting for the raven!

So, I’ve got these 59 doughnuts lying around… And the guitar center is only available until Monday! Think it’s worth it? It’s really the only recent premium thing I can afford.
It’s not a bad buy..but if that’s all you have you might want to wait and see what Christmas brings and see if you can earn any more free donuts 🙂
If recent history is any indication, the guitar store should come back around again… someday!

First, THANK YOU tstoaddicts for all your hard work! You have made playing this game extremely better by all of your help and game guides!
Second, EA is s company, companies are in business to make money. I for one am grateful for all the freebies! Try going to a restaurant and asking for a free meal, not going to happen. I think the ones complaining are obsessed with having it all. In the end lets not forget…it’s just a game.

Not sure that’s the complaint…I think most people who play realize that EA makes their money from premiums, that’s fine. But I think other posters were taking issue with the imbalance of freemium vs. premium here….it really is mostly for donuts. I’m ok with spending my donuts on things I want but I have to admit even I was surprised that the episode tie-in was a premium!
Love the Puritan Flanders skin. That makes me happy. It’s kind of become a tradition to see what new balloons will be added for Thanksgiving. So, since it’s nothing, sad. 🙁 A Tom Turkey would have been a great balloon addition.
Can the balloons be placed in Krustyland too? Or are they Springfield only?

Is the Sacagawea skin going to be permanent now? I was bummed last year when it disappeared after thanksgiving
If you own it it’s yours forever…even after Thanksgiving is over.

Did it disappear or did you just tap the +/- and minimize her costumes. Skins don’t disappear. You should be able to tap on character and scroll left or right through all skins.
If not then you need to let EA know
I will definitely see if it sticks around this time and contact EA if it doesn’t. My other skins were always there (gymnast lisa and more recently the clash of clans one). I just assumed it was a seasonal thing. I didn’t realize there was something wrong when mine disappeared
I guess as a freemium player I shouldn’t complain but there’s not much here if you don’t want to spend donuts. Guess I’ll wait till x-mas and hope there’s more for us then.
This is just a mini update, not really an event. So there won’t be a TON of stuff. Lol. Just a few small items here and there.
2 free skins and balloons that cost in game cash. I’m happy. I’m a slightly premium player who got a Kindle last Christmas. This is my first Simpson’s Thanksgiving. I don’t see anything that I really want to spend donuts on, so I will wait to see what Christmas brings. I did buy Brandine when she was offered, and I finally got all 3 Spuckler kids. 270 days is a long time to wait.
Thanks for the update. I got it in my game just before leaving for work this morning so I didn’t do much more than get Bed’s skin. I used to be a freemium player, then gradually bought a few donuts and finally gave in and bought a boat load of donuts last week. I figure I’ve enjoyed this game over a year and I’d like to get the things that appeal to me. I’m not a completist, but I did get JB and the casino just now. I doubt I’ll spend donuts on the other Thanksgiving content, considering the Mayflower, but I doubt it. I love that Flanders is a Puritan 🙂 I wish Lisa’s skin was released as premium so it would get higher payout, but it’s nice for the newer players to get the skin for free.

Are there any good examples of what others have done with the balloons in their game? I’m thinking of designing a sort of Thanksgiving Day parade but my brain is frazzled and I need some inspiration! (no luck in the Flickr group, so far) Any leads?
Also, I would have loved if this update included a ‘decay’ effect for the Halloween items. So, like, the jack-o-lanterns would be moldy and deflated. 🙂
A decay effect would be cool but I bet not everyone would dig it. I certainly would. For the parade… use concrete instead of roads but use it as if it is a road with shops lined up next to it. Then design away with your parade using cars, etc. Just an idea. I know I saw a pic last year but can’t seem to find it.
I wonder how many players would object to the decaying pumpkins and other items based on aesthetics, as opposed to “losing” money spent on a temporary item.
If the items come back good as new next year (without having to be repurchased); however, the decaying process may be better received. Let’s say some of the seeds were saved to grow new fruit for carving. 😃

I’m a freemium player too, and though it’s a bummer when I can’t get a premium item for lack of doughnuts, I’m still really happy with the game. I look at it this way: As a freemium player, I’m in it for the long haul. I’m waiting for Gil (that’s how I got Otto), and I’m biding my time. Doughnuts will come to those who wait, and are patient. Keep tapping. Max out your Friend points so you can start or resume getting the occasional free doughnut. When you do decide to use doughnuts, use them wisely. get buildings, characters, and decorations that earn you the most, and please you the most.
I like the feeling I get when I feel like I earned something, as opposed to paying for it.
I feel that the premium players are playing for the instant gratification that comes with obtaining something. It’s the rush of winning at the slot machines. If they want to shell out the real $$$ for animated bric-a-brac, then more power to them. EA is counting on these players to keep the game going. And if the game keeps going, then everyone wins.
Is the mayflower going to remain a limited time item and disappear after the event? I may be mistaken but I thought it was a permanent purchase option.
It was..BUT they retagged it with Limited-Time. So not sure what they’re plans are with it…
I was going to ask the same question. It’s now labeled as “Limited Time” in the Thanksgiving menu, but not in the decorations menu. So either it’s been changed to a limited time item or the labeling of it as one is erroneous.
Not sure if this is the best place to post this but ive been using the google survey rewards app, which allows me to earn google play credit for free by answering surveys. This has allowed me to buy premiun stuff in the game without spending a dime of my own momey. It is slow to earn credit on some surveys but it has helped me in this game.

Cool costumes (both new to me)! I’m going to buy the Pigglys for sure, and likely get the Caesar’s PW Casino that I didn’t get last year. If only for their characters. I love characters. I’ll also get the “cash” balloons, and probably the Grumple (that’s a great Donut-to-Earnings ratio). Will probably pass on the other premium balloons, caged turkey, and H. machine.
It’s pretty awesome we’re getting a free item that boosts Earnings (the Cornucopia). I love when they do that. 🙂
I’m on the fence about a couple items, perhaps you could answer:
1) Does the Caesar’s sign light-up and/or animate at all (like a Las Vegas sign)?
2) Does Guitar Central improve Consumerism?

To much premium stuff. Good things are allready premium. Not good 4 the honesty players. It sucks.
It’s pretty common with these smaller events that they’re premium heavy. However, there are a bunch of freebies (and more coming) 🙂
I’ve never seen the term “honesty player.” Are you trying to imply that the other players that purchase premium items are being dishonest?
So I’ve been saving all my donuts for something special (I was thinking about Christmas) but the arrival of Jacqueline Bouvier meant I had to splash out. Been hoping to see her for so long and she is officially my first premium character spend! (Not counting Maude as I got her during a glitch for only 15 donuts)
I’m guessing that I’m not the only person hoping the reference to Black Friday is going to lead to a Gil deal before Christmas??
One can only hope, although I am also hoping that some more freemium items become available as Thanksgiving goes on, if not can we have a bit more of as freemium:premium Christmas please EA??

My MIL once told me that if you are on vacation and see something you really like, buy it because chances are you will still want it when you get home and it will be too late. I think of this game as a day-cay and regret I didn’t get Gil’s deal for the school bus and it went away before I remembered it. I’m not crazy about balloons in general but all the other donut items were in my town within minutes. I might get the Rusty (to put next to my Krustyland terminal) and Blinky balloons though…..
D’oh, Homer is half way through a 24 hour job. I can’t store the Simpsons’ house (apparently I have hoarding issues). Is there a way to get homer off his job? (He is melting snow at the moment. It was my part to help out the people of Buffalo.)
Simpson house is one of the only items that can not be stored. Alas, you’ll have to wait until he’s done his Buffalo duty.

Just started last month, so I’m glad I can get the hideous Rusty the Clown balloon.
Bit bummed I can’t get JB, but EA’s gonna be EA, and we did just get an update with a bunch of free stuff, and we’ll probably get free donuts from this somehow anyway.
Only real complaint is Tom Turkey. He’s reduced to an expensive decoration, and that’s not OK in my book, especially when the quest line has his face on it…got my hopes up for nothing.

Wow so many haters about costs of “premium items”. I am a Freemium player and rarely have the donuts to buy these items but still love the game and appreciate it is constantly updated. I will be probably buying Jacqueline as she is just to damn funny. At that point looks like it will be weeks to months before I have more premium content but so what, guys EA provides this game at no OOP cost. If you want more, support the company doing all the work for your enjoyment. If not, realize not everything in this world should be handed to you. Additionally, Thank you to you wonderful people running this blog, your hard work is noted and appreciated.

I didn’t intend to complain too much. I love the game and I have purchased truckloads of donuts to support EA. But even with those purchases, I can’t seem to keep up.
While i still LOVE the game, I still feel left out because I don’t have unlimited $$ for donuts to buy the items I like.
I agree with you on one thing… This site is magnificent ! My go-to place for all info. TY Bunny, Wookiee and Allissa.
It’s pretty reasonable to be disappointed in the amount of stuff that costs donuts in this update, and to be disappointed that Mrs. Bouvier is limited time. It’s cool that you aren’t bummed but it’s lame that a main female character is premium and limited time so you have to by her now or be bummed about missing out on her if you are saving donuts for Christmas or were waiting for the Casino to return.
The Casino was always a donut cost. That has not changed. They just had a HUGE event, so this is just a mini update. Each one will vary. Not every thing will be for everyone. Not everything will be for free. 😉
It’s not about hating. Not everyone can fork over $99 for donuts. Some premiums are required to complete tasks. Multiply $59.99 to $99 per millions of tappers that play the game, including the other games Clash Of Clans, etc. I’m sure EA are doing quite well and I have done my part in supporting EA. I feel that everyone is entitled to complain about the premium items since some can’t buy them.
Just so you know….and you have every right to state your opinion…but let’s make sure the facts are correct.
First…EA doesn’t own Clash of Clans. That’s a different game company all together. EA does games like Scrabble and The Sims…but not Clash of Clans. Hence why the spoof was supposed to be funny…
Second…a premium item has NEVER been required to complete a task, unless it was a premium task (or during the tutorial). Every task in this game that is part of a main questline can be achieved without spending donuts. It might be more difficult…but it can be done. You’re never required to spend donuts to progress in the game. (unless it’s the tutorial, and those are free donuts)
So the other Ballon and casino I can’t get until they come live on Monday right?
