Hey Howdy Hey My Elfish Tappers!
Well….unless you’ve been partying a little too hard you know that Elves have taken over Springfield! Elves work hard and party even harder…so much so that even Santa bailed on Springfield! It’s your job to contain the Elves and send them back to the North Pole. In doing so you’ll earn Elf Bells..which will give you some awesome prizes!
With this event EA is repeating a similar prize structure to what they did for Halloween, only more prizes, and releasing the event (and prizes) in stages. For the second phase, which lasts until the event ends (Jan 13th), you can win 8 prizes by collecting Elf Bells. The Eight, and final, prize awarded at 22,500 Bells is the Tropical Island.
Let’s take a closer look at this island in the sea and just what happens when you win it it your Springfield…
WARNING Mild Dialogue Spoilers Ahead
Once you’ve collected 22,500 Elf Bells the Tropical Island will automatically be awarded to you and you’ll see this popup:
Much like Friendship Prizes, if you’re visiting a neighbor when you hit the 22,500 Bell mark this message will still popup and the island will be waiting for you in your inventory once you get back to your Springfield.
The Tropical Island will automatically be placed in your inventory, so you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it. Just tap the “use” icon to place it in your Springfield.
Before you place it in your Springfield some dialogue will appear between Homer and Apu. This will prompt a short 1hr task with Homer. Here’s the full rundown:
Tropical Island Nofari
Homer: Your largest bottle of sunblock, Apu. I’m headed to a tropical paradise.
Apu: As someone born in the tropics, I can tell you it’s no paradise. People who live in hot places are always miserable, constantly getting bitten by nasty things, and just as fat as here but sweatier. Anyway, there’s enough sunblock in this bottle to cover over 23 acres of skin. Who’s it for?
Homer: Me
Apu: You will need two.
Have a Water Expansion
Place the Tropical Island
Make Homer Apply Sunblock- 1hr, Earns $70, 17xp
Lisa: Dad! There’s a new island just offshore from Squidport! Even though it’s snowing here, it’s sunny and warm there.
Homer: Yeah, the game developers couldn’t figure out a way to explain that, so they just did it. Anyway, first we take six months of standup paddle board lessons and then island ho.
Completed Task Earns 100 Bells and 10xp
So here’s the deal with the Tropical Island:
-Decoration for the water.
-10×10 in size
-Can only be placed in the water
-No character interaction, no animation associated with it.
-Conform-o-meter: Vanity +1200
So that about covers all the details on this Tropical Paradise!

I have it too, but this just adds to my inventory of items I can’t place yet bc i either haven’t hit the level (xmas ralphie), or I can’t afford space (waterfront propery is expensive), so looking forward some day to being able to afford to put the island down, but until then, I’ll just look at it in my inventory and wonder.
Was locked out my game for the first five days of the Christmas update and was unable to earn the naitivity scene 🙁 Wish I could earn it during the extension (like at Hallowe’en) as I’ve collected all the other prizes in stage two. Cannot justify spending donuts for it as it’s EA’s technical issues that caused me not to have enough time to earn all stage one prizes!
Contact EA and let them know what happened. Try to convince them to give it to you for free because of their issues…
Why it is not animated with Abe and Burns is beyond me. What a crappy prize without interaction.
I finally earned my big island two days ago….I love it! Although I won’t be spending my hard earned pink sprinkles on two of the smaller islands, I did purchase 10 of the small islands that cost in game cash. I figured that I would put some away just in case they don’t come back….plus it’s pretty cool to have something new to look at in all our Springfields 🙂 I can’t wait to see how creative everyone gets!
After reading some of the comments on here I’m wondering……should I buy more of the small islands before the timer runs out?? Bunny, Alissa, and Wookie……do you think I should buy a few more? How many did you guys get??

A tropical island seems an odd way to wrap Christmas. Also, it seems odd that a tropical island would be a quarter mile offshore of Springfield, regardless of what state it’s in.

Got it and was actually disappointed in both the limited quest line and it is not animated. Not the best final prize for a event one. Like the Halloween King Kong Homer MUCH better 🙂

I really loved the island when it first showed up, but I HATED the short story line. I was looking for some explanation of Santa’s crash and hoping for some character interaction. How disappointing. 🙁

Now that EA has extended the event I might actually get the island. This was the prize I wanted most. All thru phase 1 I kept dreaming of that little island. But now that I have read the info on it I’m a little disappointed. Especially after the Nativity from phase 1. I would be more excited about the ‘grand prize’ in phase 2 if there were tasks or animation associated with it.
I picked it up a few days ago, now it is just a pain dealing with the elves. I do like the crashed, and burning sleigh and Air Plane, the tail section from the small Island adds to the impression of carnage. I put it at the end of the runway I built.

I wonder if the sleigh on the island is part of the winter stuff (like snow) and will go away when spring hits.
After the quest I was surprised there was no follow up with somebody actually going to the island. Maybe we’ll get one in six months like the dialogue says.
What’s going to happen with all the leftover currency?
It is Event Only Currency… so when the event goes… there is no longer a need for it and it goes too. So no more Cogs or Bells

I got the island early this morning. I am unimpressed. I worked hard to get the island and do not feel it was worth all the effort. This is the first event that I have been disappointed with. 🙁 Not even going to try getting the amount of bells you have to earn to get any free donuts. On a positive note, I think I got the island before the Wookiee. LOL Yeah, my competitive nature gets a win!!

Got it today. Disappointed there isn’t more of a questline, especially to explain Santa’s midair collision. Also no character interaction which is a big let down after weeks of this event.
Maybe EA will add something since they are extending the event?

Possibly, just possibly, something was planned to explain the collision, but the recent Air Asia crash might have caused them to pull it out of the game. I don’t know this to be the case, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

That…. would make some sense. I also heard someone suggest that the characters were literal about the 6 months of preperation and maybe in 6 mo we’ll see something happen.
So I was able to get it anyways, finished my one hour quest (which didn’t make any sense) and nog christmas is over? Why is there a burning slay on the island, what happened? I can still probably win some donuts if they extended the period, but why bother? I spent all my donuts on mr plow which in my opinion wasnt worth it at all, far too expensive, they should have given a mini plow or homers plow mobile to go with it as a decoration. I like the mini island, the one you can buy with money, again this phase is way too expensive for non cheating players (200 donuts for 100 cogs? What are you going to do with 100 cogs? Buy one fifth of a useless Canon level?)
As you wrote, you could continue for Donuts. I got three yesterday, and am at 580 bells now. So before the event ends I’ll get another 3 to 6 donuts.
Not to do with this category but just need to tell. Today I won the 200-1 odds in Springfield downs. Pretty sweet.
Where does it say the event was extended? Mine still says I have less than 24 hours to complete this event.
There are TWO dates in the game right now. EA is correcting this REALLY soon. You will know by later today if not tomorrow when the patch hits the correct end date.

I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a questline for the island using Grandpa and Mr. Burns. I was hoping it would be like the Nativity scene and have a special animation.
Should be getting it in both of my towns today. Then I’m taking a day off, lol. (Don’t panic neighboureenos, of this or thpbbt, I’ll be back on Wednesday) (and non-neighboureenos, please don’t take it personally if I decline friend requests. I’m at my personal max and always feel guilty saying no 🙂 )
It’s a nice decoration for the water off Squidport, but I’m wishing they’d created a longer quest-line for it. Or given someone like the Sea Captain a permanent task like, “Be Shipwrecked.” Given what it took to win the island, it also should’ve had a bonus on it or something like that.
I got the island yesterday. Both my towns have it now : – ). If any one was unaware there are smaller size islands for sale 10k in game cash and 2 islands that cost donuts.
So does the event end January 13th or January 18th?
An earlier post here indicates the “left side question mark” countdown (January 18) is correct and the phase two prizes will be collectible until then. This post says the entire event ends tomorrow (January 13). Can someone clarify? I know some folks are still collecting bells for prizes.

Thanks for checking into this. I know it’s hard to say either way when EA hasn’t just made it totally clear.
Before the weekend. I didn’t think I’d get reach the goal as I was consistently falling behind in the quota. In addition, the scarcity of elves resulted in me being able to fire a full set only every 5-6 hours.
Yet, now I’m getting close (~1200 bells left). So, now I’m hopeful for an extension, because an extra day will likely be necessary.
It varies with your game play. Some days you may tap more neighbors Cannons and Tunnels. Some days yours may be tapped more as you clear them faster. Just keep playing and collecting all you can. 😉
Not going to make it but at least it doesn’t sound like I’m missing out on much.

Thanks so much for posting this, I thought I was going mad when another task didn’t trigger after the 60 min sun-block task. Personally I’m really disappointed that the final prize only has a 1-part questline and it doesn’t even earn money/have a % bonus.
I’m not going to make it. I gave up around the first to focus on my first semester. I just got Sequel Stop. I might get Annual Gift Man. Hopefully they’ll reintroduce this one and the others at either another yard sale or next year’s event.
I’m 2000 bells away from getting the island and since EA extended the date the event ends I should have the tropical island 🙂 im so happy
