Well…it’s not a 5 day extension but it’s an extension nonetheless! A patch just hit our games correcting the massive date issues that have plagued us for all of Phase 2. We now have a NEW date in the mix and that date is….January 14th.
EA has given us a 1 day extension on Phase 2 of Christmas. The new end date and time is….January 14th, 2015..12:00pm EST (1700 GMT).
They’ve also added a few items back into the shop….

Many of you have commented we didn’t do a Should I Buy on the Ride, the Rink & the Mall. You’re right…with the holidays they got lost in the shuffle. We do have posts about all of them (WDTCFs) but here’s a quick should I Buy for all of them:
Ride- Was free before, now 30 donuts. Another Ride for K-Land. This one is a go for. If you can get it, it’s always nice to have another ride for Krustyland. And 30 donuts is a reasonable price.
Rink- Was free before, now 85 donuts. No character interaction, earns at an ok rate…but that’s it. Just another useless building for Springfield (although when it get’s animated (like stonecutters etc) it has a fun animation. A Zamboni comse out from behind it). This one is a complete pass for me. Not worth those 85 sprinkles.
Mall- Was free before, now 90 donuts. No character interaction, earns at an ok rate…but that’s it. Another useless building for Springfield (animation also isn’t that good. The fan on top of it spins). Complete pass in my opinion. Definitely not worth the 90 sprinkles.
So so if you’re close to that Island get to tapping! You’ve got one more day of Bell Collection to make it!
Personally, I think this is a fair extension. It gives players who are close to the Island a chance to collect those last minute Bells & it’s not an overwhelming extension (in time) for those who’ve already collected everything.
Remember…if you’ve already collected all of your prizes…use the extra day to earn free donuts! Keep collecting those bells and turn them into Sprinkles! 🙂

Overall, I really didn’t care for Part 2 of the Christmas event. The cog wheel drop rate was terrible. I play frequently and due to the constant cannon misfires and TO quitting, I barely made it to the last prize. I think going from a 5-day extension to 1 is lame, too. Make it at least half…that would have been a better compromise. And with the update, my TO is quitting constantly. Frustrating.
My thoughts… to end an event on a Sunday, which is not a standard work day… would be a LOT to set up for any company. You need the techs all on board to ensure the transition goes smoothly and as planned. No employer wants to pay overtime/weekend pay if they don’t have to. That and to recode the game the extra time takes a lot of work.
I get it. Wish it was more too. But I get it.
They could have easily stopped Friday. Like I said, half of the 5, but not 1. Not with the amount of glitches I’ve personally gone through and also read about.
Very disappointed. I have not been able to connect on and off for days and days. As a result, I have no hope of getting the island. It is not my iphone that is causing the trouble.
The game w the balloons in Krustyland hasn’t’worked since before Christmas either.

Glad they’ve done something. Not been that fussed with the 2nd half of the event at all. Will just about get the Spruce Caboose (sp?) and to be honest, I’m happy with that. It was more important to get Ralph so he can start licking that North Pole.
I have complained to Origin and EA, the game was actually stating 5 days left until this latest update, it’s disgraceful to now change it to 1 day!!
There were two dates posted. One in the prize track said the 13th the other said the 18th (when you hit the question mark). Actually they both said the 13th…but the ? mark one had a countdown going until the 18th.
Given that EA and Origin acknowledge that they have technical problems that have created access to server problems over several weeks and that the game producers have introduced bugs with the Christmas update that have resulted in a loss of revenue on properties, a loss of the balloon pop in Krustyland and doughnut wins not registering a one day extension is extremely poor recompense!
I agree that a 5 day extension would be tedious for many but most of the folks I know need a bit more time to get the island. Tedious for many yes – but donuts can be earned. For those still trying to eke out enough to get the island it is a real letdown.

One day? Seriously? That’s just stupid. It’s not enough time to make up for EA nerfing the elf spawn rate and it’s not the end date they’ve been advertising since the phase started. I’ve been on top of this since the start, fired every elf possible, and even saved several hundred elves to take advantage of the final bump in payout per elf, but because my friend list is actually friends who play instead of the maximum amount of strangers, I’m still 1000 bells short this morning.
I’m ever so sorry that a few extra days to spawn enough elves for players like me to actually earn the top prize would be too tedious for you to endure.
There are many that wish for more time. I am actually glad they extended it… even just a day. They don’t extend events that often anymore. If you are only 1000 bells short, you should make it just fine. See the post below. LOTS of options to get those 1000.

No point to playing if you have to cheat!
I think it devalues the gameplay. Once you have or can have anything, then what’s the point of playing? It removes all the challenge of the game. Case in point, last summer I noticed a neighbor in my game started cheating/hacking because this player had started after me and all of sudden items were appearing in the player’s town that had been long unavailable (i.e. items from past events before I started playing) and all the available premium items currently being offered started to appear in the town. Not surprisingly after 2 months or so, this player who had been an avid player, playing multiple times a day, had stopped altogether. Boredom probably set in. If there is nothing left to want or desire in the game, than you’re just tapping away for nothing, wasting time. In the end, you are really cheating yourself out of the fun of playing.
Still only at Cannon level 15. Doesn’t matter since got the bell prizes so far, but still feels like they mis-paced the gear rate.
Other than sleeping I rarely missed any elves (I think) and have more bells than nearly all of my friends. I don’t think I saw any friends with max cannon.
They didn’t mispace the cannon. The cannon was geared for donuts as explained in the quest dialogue between Skinner and Lisa in Project After Party part 9.
Yeah they kind of admitted their greed there. Must say after redeeming themselves with Halloween this event left a sour taste in the mouth . The server outages in the UK were a joke , never mind about bunny saying they don’t want to pay weekend overtime , I am not sure their techs should be paid at all ! Any server issues I have are solved within hours and they are rare not everyday like these have been ( and before I get a reply stating the server loads are much larger they aren’t as I’m comparing EA , UK servers to multi national global ones. )
I know they will keep ramping up the premium prices while people continue to pay but their greed in cases like zultroy are starting to show .
We see fair more reviews from this lovely website saying an item is not worth price than we did a year ago .

No conceivable way to get my cannon to level 20 with how many elfs they give me. Unless I spend a couple thousand donuts on cogs.

One of my neighbors has a level-22 cannon. Not sure why. Only noticed it because of the gold-colored band on it, which prompted me to click it to see what level it was at.
Mine is …21 or 22 in the test game. My other is not that far at all. Never saw a need to really go higher. Was shooting Elves and collecting just fine.
Since the 5 day “extension” was listed from the beginning of phase two I thought there would be something extra special coming. Ah we’ll I guess mistakes are made.
I have all the prizes so the extra day does give me a shot at three more sprinklies: )
I did buy the skating rink because I had the perfect spot for it to tie my Christmas area together and I love it!
All in all I thought this was a great event!
What skating rink? I am not familiar with that item, do you have a pic of it? It is not in my Store.

Am I the only one that only made it to cannon level 15 despite playing constantly, getting every daily prize and almost never letting my elfs overflow? I got my island far before the end. Seems like my cannon shouldn’t be so far behind.

I got my island a week ago but my cannon is level 15 (37 cogs from level 16). So far I’ve shot 3264 elves and have 3 elves in reserve, it’s very difficult to find enough cogs to level up.

I’m at Level 15 with 384/600 towards Level 16. Something was definitely off with the cannon upgrades and elf availability.
Level 15 seems around the average for the cannon, and no need to stress, I am reasonably regular (between 2-4 logins per day…) tapper, and have ~27500 bells (~8th out of my neighborinos) and flost between number 20-25 on the leaderboard. I had the island a few days ago, and just had my first bell bonus. I have been playing for over 2 1/2 years, and even though there are some very strong opinions about this event I’m going to weigh in (gulp…)
For a free game (yeah, ok, they receive money from our Premium friends) I am pretty happy overall. Yes, there have been challenges (the feds did my head in, and I refuse to use the zapper else risk launching my phone 🙂 but out of all of the events and the way tasks / prizes were delivered at least EA is listening (or seem to be… broken prize wheel in point). I think they are trying to get that impossible balance of enough stuff for older tappers (the two sets of prizes was brilliant! ) whilst trying to be fair on newer tappers by msking things interesting / accessible, and on this point its not too bad at all. These sort of games always divide players, but they are getting better, and on the whole with previous events as comparison I’m pretty satisfied. After getting Homer Santa in the small window of this event (strictly Freemium only tapper here 😉 I am nearly at 40 donuts again (something unheard of a year ago) and Witch Marge, I think bringing that much stuff back as well as all the new stuff they did ok by me.

I was getting it too. Try hard closing and restarting your device. You may still get it once or twice after but it shouldn’t be continuous (at least it wasn’t for me)
I was hoping for a last minute extension! I’m so close to the 4000 extra bells to get donuts but knew I’d never get there today. I should be able to reach it now. This should also allow one of my friends to get the tropical island, which she didn’t think she’d have time to get. Woo hoo!
Well, at least I have an extra day to get the 2000 bells I need for the next donut bonus! Except I’ve already visited my neighbors (& removed 35 btw) for the day, ran out of elves, and the rate at which they return probably isn’t going to cut it. Oh well. I was kinda bummed after this AM’s update to see nothing new, but does anyone have any thoughts on what happens to those left over cog wheels and bells? Any chance in a cash conversion? I’ve never really paid attention to leftover event currency before.
They haven’t done an event currency for cash conversion since 2013…(very early 2013) and I unfortunately don’t think we’ll see another one this time around.

I started playing in the middle of the Christmas event in 2013, so I’m not sure what you are referring to. Could you explain it for me or provide a link to more info about it? Thanks for all you guys do!
By the way, I’m thrilled about the extension! I am so close to getting the tropical island and I was afraid I wasn’t going to make it! 😆
The last time there was anything like a conversion was Valentines in 2013 where the heart grinder turned the event currency into possible useful items. There really is no link on our site on it as this site did not exist at the time.
We have not seen any kind of conversion since and probably won’t. Cool thought, but something they just didn’t stick with.
Thanks for the info, Bunny! That does sound cool, I wish they would bring it back. At the end of the event, I got the island and somewhere between 1500-2000 bells. It wasn’t enough for the bonus donuts, so it would be nice if you could convert those extra bells into something useful. Oh well, I’m not gonna complain – at least I was able to get all of the prizes. Thanks again and I look forward to what EA has in store for both Level 49 and Valentine’s!
I don’t get all the complaints about the event. Yeah I agree to has gone on for a while but oh well. Means better chance of scoring the prizes/donuts. Just play as you normally would, it doesn’t make all that much difference.
I saw a large sized update and got excited for a new level haha. Soon I’m sure though!
I saw the update and got excited that maybe they fixed the Sideshow You glitch. No balloons since Christmas! Well, there’s always next year. Oh, wait. It IS next year …
That is still being worked on. Won’t be fixed for a lil while longer.
I’m sure all that will be taken care of after the is event is gone. From what it seems, the coding of this event has created the glitch etc.More than likely, they’ll finish the event, fix everything to working order than bring out a new level.
I was just waiting for my cannon to be ready again so I could shoot off the elves I had collected for elf bells and win some donuts. Then the update came through, I thought I would lose my donuts, but alas, I was still able to fire my cannon and I got my three donuts! Happy day. Now I don’t think I’ll get another 4000 elf bells in the next day, so I think that’s it for me.
Today I started taking down all the holiday decorations and storing the holiday themed NPCs until next holidays. The decorations that have bonus percentages or pay out, I’ll try to hide, but that giant Xmas tree sculpture with lights that pays out $55/hr I can’t find anything big enough to hide it behind. I may store it instead and take the loss on the pay out.
Try the radio station, I had to do a bit of rearranging, (which sucked, I liked where it was before) but it barely shows around the antenna on the roof.
Thanks. Yeah, I tried to see how it might fight behind the radio station antenna. I may have to move the radio station to make room behind it for it work. I’ll see. Thanks. Not even the Volcano Lair hides it. I may have to buy the Popsicle Stick Skyscraper just to hide this Christmas Tree.

1 day is equivalent to how long the majority of people were locked out. And it’s better than nothing…and certainly better than 5 days. 5 days would have been really tedious
I was locked out for 7 days, so I’m scrambling to maybe get the spruce caboose. Probably won’t get it in 24 hours, but a girl can try. I still have my tree up IRL. Just can’t take it down yet! So thanks for one more day of Christmas, EA!
I got the ast prize when the counter says 1day 1 hour left. Hourray for me!
I am not going to get everything so, I’m a little disappointed especially since it initially looked like the event was going to run through the weekend which would have given me time to earn the island. Overall I’m ok with it, I got the Spruce Caboose this morning and I’m done playing for a couple days. There is no way I’m going to win the island and since it has no animation or tasks I won’t be wasting any of my sprinklies to get it.
Great. It gives me the time I need to get my third donut gift! Whats coming next? A new level? We never know what EA is bringing us, right?
My guess is a new level.

As far as the extension, I couldn’t be more thrilled because close to getting the island and got rest of tiny islands. But who else totally freaked out like me and rushed the canon to get extra bells?
I did like the elves and new characters/buildings but man I can’t count the donuts I spent….Otherwise, it was fun & good tie-in with the Thanksgiving event.:) PS: Do wish that Santa was a permanent character or elves though:D
Definitely a fair extension to account for the server issues etc. I personally am a daily freemium player and picked up the tropical island early yesterday after starting a day late. Any regular players should have no problem obtaining all of the prizes especially with the extra 24 hours! Well done EA!(I couldn’t stand another 5 days of Christmas haha)
That update took a donut from me 🙁 lol I won it tapping my door this morning. Then the update hit and took it away. Not going to bother contacting EA over one donut but it was a little annoying.
I have had 2 donuts drop from tapping my elf door, neither stuck. I’ve seen a lot of people have the same issue. I’ve had no problem with donuts from my normal neighbour visits, just the ones that appeared in my own town.
Same thing happened to me, it is truly annoying all the little things added up!
So over this Christmas update. Went from being fun to being incredibly tedious in about three days. I’m close to deleting the game. 🙁

Honestly, I’m just ready for the X-Mas event to be over. I got the island a couple of days ago, and reached 4,000 bells this morning (got 3 donuts for those. I liked the event overall (Only started playing in September, so this is my first X-Mas), but I was getting annoyed with tracking down all those elves.
Only 1 more day…
Uggh I JUST got the spruce caboose yesterday – i realized I wasn’t going to make it so I hadn’t pushed to try to get the island. I probably could have made it if I’d know we’d get an extra day! C’est la vie. I think overall the event has been great, so I’m not angry. I’m glad there was a small island to purchase with dollars though!
The island isn’t worth mourning over. It takes up a lot of expensive water and doesn’t do anything. Nothing at all except a bit of vanity. Trust me, buy those little islands for 10k, I think they’re better.
I did end up getting the Island, but it was touch and go. I had NO access to the game for the first 36 hours of the event and had a few days when it was challenging to get into the game, but I was ON IT .. I checked almost every hour while I was awake, and I did 2 rounds through friends (first just tunnel and cannon, 2nd everything else) and it paid off, generally events are not quite this challenging. But , I really wanted the island, so I am happy in the end. I think this event was a fun one overall and it required you to pay attention, but was not impossible to achieve the goals. I am going to enjoy the small break till VD.
