Well right in the middle of the Terwilliger Event we get…another Event! Well, an episode tie-in for this Sunday’s episode of The Simspsons, The Kids Are All Fight. And with this little weekend event arrives a creepy looking clown (“can’t sleep clown’ll eat me”)…how fitting for a Sideshow Bob Event! Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Nightmare Pile to YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this nightmare to YOUR Springfield!

What Does It Do?: Brings back Halloween Costumes for selection TSTO youngsters!
Pros:
-Comes with a nice bonus % (at 3%)
-Similar to Moon Bounce, Channel 6 and others…will add a 4 hour task for a select group of children
-Makes it Halloween year round in Springfield, as the kids tasks are to wear the Halloween Costumes.
-It’s the creepy clown! One of the more iconic items from the Simpsons
Cons:
-Takes a while to unlock all of the costumes for the kids to wear. (you have to complete a 2hr task 3 times to unlock the costume for each child. More details are here)
-Only one child can wear a costume at a time

REMEMBER: These are not individual skins for each character. They’ll only show up on your character when they’re on the task with the Nightmare Pile. So you won’t see them listed as a character skin for that character.

Personally, I’m picking this up…but for one reason and one reason only. I love the clown bed. Way back before Addicts started, the clown bed is one of the things Wookiee and I became friends over (that and Christmas lights). So I’m grabbing it purely for that reason and that reason alone. (especially since I hate Halloween)
Here’s the premium take on this beyond the sentimental attachment…it’s pricey for what it is. Not thrilled with the fact that only one child can do the task at a time. So as a premium player, it’s not a must buy. If you like Halloween and like the Halloween costumes, it’s a good pick up. Otherwise save those donuts for something better…unless of course you just love the clown bed like I do 🙂
Freemium Take:
Freemium players, this one is a pass for sure. The donuts aren’t worth it for what it does. You’re better off saving those hard earned pink sprinkles for something better down the road….
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you, I’m grabbing those one…but not really for any practical reasons. However, whatever you decide just remember that this nightmare will be leaving our stores soon, so if you’re thinking about it getting it make sure you make your final decisions before April 28th or you’ll miss your chance.

Only one child can wear a costume at a time I will pass on this THQ
Can anyone tell me what that one Halloween-attired kid does during this task? Do they just walk around your Springfield in their costume, or do they do something else? With the moon bounce, we don’t even the character during the task, so I have no idea what if any animation I can expect with this new item?

Thanks so much for the post. I was really excited by this (not so much the price though), but definitely not for only one kid at a time. I would say, send them all out on a 2 hr task in costume) at the same time. So, as much as I love it, thank you for helping me know that it’s a definite pass for me.
Ibought it for basically the same reason… can’t sleep, clown’ll eat me. Can’t sleep, clown’ll eat me. Since it’s basically a pile of trash I put it near Cletus’s houuse with the trashed washer/dryer and fuel canisters and such.

That fact that you can only send one kid at a time feels like EA is purposefully trying to be irritating.

It’s pricey that’s for sure but I like Halloween and clowns never ever scared me. (I used to visit the circus as a kid) so I decided to get it since I do like some of tge kids Halloween costumes but since it is spring time I probably won’t use them.
I bought it for one reason. “Can’t sleep, clown’ll eat me” – absolutely had to have it. I also enjoy that it’s not just the bed. It makes having it outside a little less awkward lol. And hey, premium payout? Eventually it’ll help pay for itself with those bonus level donuts.

OK, this may seem like a question for Captain Obvious, but bear with me…
If I don’t have a certain premium character, such as Sherri/Terri, will the nightmare pile skip right over them to the next character I have, or will it stall progress?

Well since halloween is my favorite time of year, I purchased this so it can be year round in my Springfield. That being said, yeah it sux only one kid at a time, but I like that you kinda have to work at it to unlock, gives me something to do.
For one, I don’t like being scared. Never have.
And 2 it all goes back to when I was 7. I spent HOURS trick or treating. hit all the “good houses” in our neighborhood, the ones that gave out the big candy bars. I get home…I open my bag (back then my mom used to buy is plastic trick or treat bags) and there was practically no candy in it. Everything was gone…no giant kit kat, no giant milkyway…all gone. My bag had a hole in it and I was so excited about trick or treating I didn’t notice (i was only 7) that the bag was getting lighter. Ruined Halloween for me…

Have you tried the starburst jelly beans, They’re AWESOME, and I hate jelly beans. A bag of these thou, don’t last long. I think that when I open a bag, a hole must form on the other end, cause there’s no way I just ate a whole bag.

Try giving out real candy and/or haunt your house for the kids. It is fun like throwing a kid’s party! I love a good scare because I get to be brave and feel alive. Modern life can be very monotonous and boring. I guess you can tell what I think about Halloween.
The point is, buy some candy and share it with some kids. ;-}
As for this item, darn E.A. ‘s cheap. It is their culture. That’s the default m.o. there and if you don’t wrap your head around that, you can’t really enjoy this game.
Oh we give out Candy, I love seeing the kiddos come to our house for Halloween.
I suspect Halloween will be a bit different for me once my husband and I have kids 🙂

Love it! Right up there with the twonicorn as one of my favorite decorations. Plus I don’t care if it’s one at time or all out. I’d prefer to have them all at once but better than having them all locked up.

“Cheese eatin’ surrender monkeys!” is the greatest line ever spoken.
Any other time, this would be a purchase but it is a worry about how much more of the Terwillinger (sp?) event may need the sprinkled currency. I think I will be spending them on any characters (already have Gino) and so it just then becomes quite an expensive month. Thanks for the post though, helpful as always.

lol wookiee leaves his christmas lights up in springfield all year round. I always enjoyed that about his town. (although in real life..he teased my husband and me for still having our lights up at the end of March. In fairness it was a cold and busy winter…they are down now though lol)
And then the clown bed….we were chatting out Tapped-out.co.uk and both up in the middle of the night. We made the joke that we couldn’t sleep because of the clown bed….

lol nah we thought it was funny they were up so long. Kept telling my husband to do it and he kept telling me to do it. Finally we both just broke down and put them away lol. (Actually we threw out the lights because half of them were out anyway lol)
As far as the TO.uk site, it’s like Facebook for TSTO. Back when there was only 1 TSTO site it was a great place to go when you wanted to connect with other players.

Saw the bed in two of my neighbors towns. Not sure if they purchased prematurely, or if they knew the details behind it beforehand, but I can’t help but hear the Nelson Ha-ha! laugh in my head like they sorta got pranked by EA. Sure it looks cool, but not worth the donuts, maybe if you could have all the outfits at the same time, but not one at a time. Besides, even if you could have the outfits year round, that kinda puts a damper on the halloween event when it does come around. Just my two cents anyway.
Any way to know what the costumes are before we buy?

I LOVE Hallowe’en. I think I have to buy some donuts to get this thing.
When I visited a couple of neighbors, I saw that all of their kids were in costumes. Is this just something neighbors will see if you buy the Nightmare Pile?
Not sure what’s up with that. In my game, I can only send one at a time. I’ve tried multiple times to send more, so it might just be something visual when you go there, really not sure. I just know that I can only send one at a time, when I try to send another and tap the clown i just get the timer running down for the current task. So not sure if it’s just a visual thing or they’re playing a modded game.
I’m on the fence with this one. I’m a big fan of classic items, and being able to send kids (or one kid) trick-or-treating whenever is neat. Based on the screenshot above it looks like all kids pay premium when on this task as well. I’ll probably use the whole five days trying to decide if I want it…
Quick question- has ‘Trick or Treat’ been added back into kids’ task lists? This morning I was visiting neighbors, and in one neighbor’s town, both Milhouse and SVT were trick or treating…which would indicate that more than one kid can trick or treat simultaneously…but I also couldn’t find the Nightmare Pile anywhere in her town. And of course, I had just sent all of the kids in my town to eat too much candy corn, or to pout, or to ride old school…

I LOVE it!!! Splurged on the Truckload of 300 Donuts last night just so I could swing this and have extras for whatever else might come along during this event! =)
Even as someone who falls under the premium player heading, this seems worthless to me. The restrictions on how it can be used along with the minimal payouts when I already have millions in-game I’ve saved up from doing jobs just isn’t worth the extra % bonus and all that. Way too expensive for what it actually lets you do.
Can you describe what each kid’s costume is, once unlocked? Or, is it just one costume applied to all the kids (one at a time)?
