Yesterday Level 52 hit our Tapping Devices and with it arrived a permanent mini event involving Mr. Burns and his Money Mountain.
The Money Mountain is meant to be a long term “project” for you to work on over time in Springfield. It’s massive and expensive, so breaking it up over time will help lessen the blow to your in game cash bank account.
We covered the basics in our rundown post, but now it’s time to get into the specifics of the Money Mountain and just what happens when you start the quest in your Springfield…
*Note: There is a glitch going on currently with Mr. Burns and the Money Mountain. Details on it are below.
First up…GLITCH/BUG ALERT…
Update 5.8.15 9:18 PM EDT: Patch hit our games tonight and the Burns glitch is now fixed! So if you couldn’t see the task before try hard closing and restarting your game and ensure the update downloads (it’s in game so nothing to get from the app store) and it should now be working for you.
There is a KNOWN bug going around that will make Mr. Burns’ task to empty his pockets disappear somewhere between $6,000 and $8,000 when you’re on Level 2.
It will not impact everyone. I’ve got it in my game but Bunny’s been able to get past level 2 onto Level 3 without an issue.
This is a known issue and EA is working to resolve it. Hopefully a patch will hit soon. Unfortunately, there is no “quick fix” for this that we can offer. It will take a patch to resolve. If you’d like you can add your “me too” to this thread started over on the EA Help forums:
To let EA know you’re impacted by the bug too. But they won’t be able to resolve the issue until a patch hits the game (in other words calling/chatting EA support won’t help your game individually this time. All they’ll be able to do is add your ID to the impacted list)
So sit tight. Hopefully the patch will hit soon.
So, as we always do, let’s start with the basics…
What’s the Requirement for Money Mountain? Do I Have to Be On Level 52?
Nope, the Money Mountain doesn’t just apply to players at Level 52, despite it arriving with the Level 52 update. The Money Mountain applies to all players Level 25 and above. So many of you are seeing this quest popup in your game…despite not being at Level 52.
How Does the Money Mountain Quest Start?
A ! will popup over Mr. Burns starting the Rolling In It task for Mr. Burns and Homer. That kicks off the mini event.
I’m At Level _____ (something higher than 25) and I Haven’t Had This Task Trigger For Me. What Do I Do?
First, don’t panic. It’s not a big deal. You probably just have too many tasks open/lined up in your game. Eventually the Money Mountain will trigger for you, so don’t worry. Again…it’s not timed. 🙂
When Does the Money Mountain Quest End?
Currently, there is no end date. It’s meant to be a long term goal, so take your time with it. There’s no rush to finish.
What’s the Purpose of Money Mountain? What do I Get If I Complete it?
There are 11 Levels to Money Mountain if you complete all 11 Levels you’ll unlock the Monty Moneybags skin for Mr. Burns.
What Happens When Mr. Burns Throws Money Into The Money Mountain?
It’s costing YOU money every time Mr. Burns throws money into Money Mountain. So YOUR in game cash will disappear each time you send Mr. Burns to “empty his pockets”. So again..take your time with it. It’s meant to be a long term goal.
How Much Of My In-Game Cash Will Be Needed to Complete the Whole Event?
The total through all 11 Level is $5,500,000.
Do I Have to Do This Event?
No. It’s not a requirement for anything, except to get the Monty Moneybags Skin. So you do not have to complete it to move onto any level/event in Springfield. It’ll just remain in your task bar.
Does Monty Moneybags (the Skin you earn) Have a Questline?
Yes, he’ll have a full 4 part questline (which we’ll cover later in this post).
Does Monty Moneybags (the Skin you Earn) Earn at a Premium Rate?
No. He earns at a SUPER premium rate. He’ll earn even more than a premium character would. (we’ll break his tasks down later in this post)
How Big is Money Mountain? Do I Have to Keep it In my Springfield?
It’s 11×11, so pretty big. And no you don’t have to keep it in your Springfield. You can store it at any time in your inventory.
What Will Money Mountain Do? Does It Earn Anything?
It’ll change appearances with each level increase, it’ll grow in height and more stuff will be added (we’ll have images later in this post). It will not earn you in game cash/xp. It’s basically a giant decoration and will earn you 450 Vanity points for your Conform-O-Meter.
So now…let’s get into more specifics about the Ain’t No Mountain High mini event and breakdown each level.
As mentioned above, as long as you’re on Level 25 Mr. Burns will start this quest for you. It’ll kick off with Rolling in It. Which will give you a task to complete for Homer and Mr. Burns.

Make Mr. Burns Peruse the Latest Issue of ‘Snobby Hobbies’- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp
THIS will start the Ain’t No Mountain High Enough task. And you’ll see the levels popup on your screen…
Here are the requirements for each Level…as well as what the Money Mountain will look like after each level…
Level 1
Make Lisa Sulk– 1hr, Earns $70, 17xp
Place Mr. Burn’s Money Mountain– Costs $5,000. Requires Level 25. 11×11 in size.
Level 2
Make Mr. Burns Spend 10,000 Money– This Requires $1,000 of your own money and 10 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 40 Donuts)
Level 3
Make Mr. Burns Spend 15,000 Money- This Requires $1,500 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 60 Donuts)
Level 4
Make Mr. Burns Spend $25,000 Money- This Requires $2,500 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 100 Donuts)
Level 5
Make Mr. Burns Spend $50,000 Money- This Requires $5,000 of your own money and 30 minutes each time. You’ll have to complete it 10 times to finish this level. (Instant Upgrade 200 Donuts)
Level 6
Make Mr. Burns Spend $100,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$5,000 each time @ 30min. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (10 total hrs)
$10,000 each time @ 6 hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (60 total hours)

Level 7
Make Mr. Burns Spend $300,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$15,000 each time @ 30min. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (10 total hrs)
$30,000 each time @ 6hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (60 total hrs)

Level 8
Make Mr. Burns Spend $500,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$25,000 each time @ 2hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (40 total hrs)
$50,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)

Level 9
Make Mr. Burns Spend $750,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$37,500 each time @ 2hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (40 total hrs)
$75,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$150,000 each time @ 16hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (80 total hrs)

Make Smithers Wander Aimlessly- 24hrs, Earns $600, 150xp
Level 10
Make Mr. Burns Spend $1,250,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$62,500 each time @ 3hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (60 total hrs)
$125,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$250,000 each time @ 32hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (160 total hrs)

Level 11
Make Mr. Burns Spend $2,500,000 Money- At this point, you’ll have a couple of different ways you can do this. Here are the options:
$125,000 each time @ 3hrs. You’ll have to complete 20 times to finish. (60 total hrs)
$250,000 each time @ 10hrs. You’ll have to complete 10 times to finish. (100 total hrs)
$500,000 each time @ 32hrs. You’ll have to complete 5 times to finish (160 total hrs)

The level 11 image above is how the Money Mountain will look in your Springfield when the task is complete.
Once you’ve completed all 11 Levels you’ll unlock the Monty Moneybags skin. However, in order to get the skin you must first trigger the questline by Mr. Burns. He should appear with a ! right after you’ve leveled up to Level 11.
The Monty Moneybags skin will be placed in your inventory….

Whew! And there you have it my friends…everything you need to know about Money Mountain and Monty Moneybags!
My best advice…don’t worry about it right now. Money Mountain will still be around after the Terwilligers Event is over. So right now focus your time and character tasks on earning that crafting currency for Terwilligers, because that is limited-time. Think of Money Mountain as a side quest. Something to do when you’re bored in TSTO & don’t worry about it right now.
Also, one quick note. Since this is a permanent addition to our towns..this post has been permanently linked on the menu of TSTO Addicts. So you can quickly come back to reference it at any time by going to the navigation menu of TSTO Addicts and it’s listed under Tips and Tricks.

I think it’s the patch…but lemme check it out.
Don’t download until you finished glitching up! It caught me in the middle, halfway through level 6….
I had Burns on a 2 hour task, tapped the Golden Teddy to bring up the money pile upgrade, and selected “do it”. I then immediately tapped the neighbourinos icon, and found a neighbour in the middle of upgrading the pile (Burns either throwing money or loitering nrarby). I tapped both Burns and the pile, then immediately tapped “home”.
On return, the cash had been paid for the next increment, and I repeated the process (with the same neighbourino), and LOTS of back and forth later, I’m nearly at Level 7.
Not usually an advocate of glitching but once I worked out how, it was hard to resist 😉
This is what worked for me…I’m using my iPad…I cleared out the app…then I sent burns to work for 45 secs and checked but it still didn’t have the option so I sent him to work again for 45 secs and after that I got the option again. Hopefully I don’t get a glitch again but so far so good.
So good for me im at level 4 without putting in a buck of my money and hopefully tomorrow after neighbour visits im at 5!!! Yay glitches😁😁😁
I think that works out as ~$150k free ? 😉
I haven’t completed any of the tasks so far, but after i go visit my friends it tells me to upgrade so im on level 4 now with only 10,000 spent total.
I think there is another glitch when visiting neighbors. When I visit a town, it automatically takes me to the money mountain and locks. I cannot move to other places. Anyone else experiencing the same?
That’s another one going around….EA’s working on a patch for that as well
I’m not sure if it’s just in my game or will work for everyone, but I’ve been happily leveling up the Money Mountain without ever having had the “Throw Money” job for Mr. Burns.
Hope it’s not frowned upon to share the exploit.
At first I wasn’t sure how it happened, but I finally figured out it was visiting friends. So if you have a bit of time, and don’t mind exploiting a glitch in your favor, try switching in and out of your Springfield and your first neighbor’s town (I just tap the golden teddy bear task icon to check on the Money Mountain progress, then the Neighbors icon, go into my first neighbors town then immediately back to my Springfield.) Each time I come back to my town, another $5000 have been added to the pile. I’ve leveled up to level 5 so far without ever putting Burns on the task or losing any in-game currency.

I just tried the method walkingdead621 described below (pressing the arrow buttons in a neighboring town to go to the next one), and it does indded increase the money as well, so I figured out a faster way than my original method: find two adjacent lower-level neighbors with small, quick-loading towns and go back and forth between them. The money doesn’t increase per town visited, seems more like every 3-5 visits, but it still goes up very quickly this way. How much it goes up also apparently depends on the Money Mountain level you’re on. Mine’s now at level 7 and gets $15,000 per increase.
Just remember to pop back to Springfield to check on progress / level up the mountain as needed.
So the bad glitch happened to me, that is why I came here, and not for my surprise, you had uptodate info on that. When I checked the comments, saw the good glitch, so I decided to give it a try.
I tried to figure out what is the method foe earning. (If friend’s pile needed to tapped, do i need to leave a seed or anything) and after all those combos i figured particular friend visit can make the glitch happen. I found a friend who makes it grow, and I do not have to do a thing just enter his town than tap the friend button than enter his town again… It is works as long as Mr. Burns is doing something else rather than pile money.
got stuck on level 4 for a good day or so. then today it worked and i was level 5. now once again the glitch is back. frustrating.
I m having the Mr Burns can’t throw away money issue, but… I leveled up to level 4 after spending, I think, between $3000 and $4500: empty his pockets task three times in some combo of level 2 and 3. I think I only did the task three time total. I know I was surprised twice with level ups, from 2-3 and and 3 to 4, while Burns was busy doing other longer over night tasks. Not that I’m in a hurry to finish this quest…
Finished Level 1 and starting Level 2, but when I click on “Do it” it sends me to Burns, but he had no relevant tasks in his task list.
That would be the glitch we’re talking about at the start of the post
Thanks – hadn’t understood it to be the same thing. So if I understand it correctly, there’s nothing I can do right now, except wait for the fix?
Basically. Some players have posted a few tricks, but I haven’t been able to duplicate them in my game.

So I tried this and it seems to be working for me.
I stored the cooling tower and then I brought it back out and burns task for throwing money appeared. Then I went to friends towns and just kept pressing the arrow button, I would then come back to my town and check burns progress and the amount kept going up.
Really? That worked for me(storing cooling towers & visiting neighbors), but I clicked on 10 friend’s piles *who didn’t have the glitch* and when I went back to my town, it upgraded to next lvl (6). That was weird… I wish it would work for you too Alissa:,( I know that its supposed to be a long quest but it’s fun to watch.Hopefully, Ea will patch this up soon. *fingers crossed*

I completed level one but never got Empty Pockets task for Mr.Burns. However, if I have Mr.Burns free and click on “Do it” from the Money Mountain dialog and then go visit a friend and come back it shows the task complete but no money deducted. Weird!
Ok, getting to level 3 added the task for Mr.Burns so I started it. Now every time I visit a friend and return Money Mountain is $1500 closer to the $15000 needed.
I had the good glitch. Most of the times I visited my neighbors, I went up a money amount. I just finished the mountain and got the skin without spending donuts and only spending money on the first level!

Money Mountain glitch has been fixed. Game crashed and upon restarting I was advanced to Pt. 3, previously I was stuck at Pt. 1 $8,000 level. No game update or download was necessary. My device is a Samsung Mega.
I think that’s just a lucky fix for you. It’s still not working for many players (myself included)
I feel badly for those of you that are having difficulties. I have the opposite “good” glitch, though I have mixed emotions about it. It feels like cheating. I like to earn things. I’m stopped at level 9. I have Smithers doing his task. With luck the glitch won’t be fixed for a while, and I’ll be able to get to the end without spending anything. Ugh! I’m feeling guilt. Even though I’ve done nothing wrong. 😳
I didn’t complete level 3 task but after visiting my friends towns I came back in and it told me I could level up to 4 so I did without having Mr Burns do anything.
I made it without any level 2 lockup, but after my third task of $2500 at level 3 Burns has lost the task. I’ll try visiting neighbors and hard closing the app to see if that helps.
Just came across an issue with this item. Whenever I visit a neighbor who has placed this item, my screen zooms in on it and I can’t scroll away. I can zoom in and out, but not actually move away from the money mountain spot. I can still tap bob clones if they happen to walk in that area, but it makes tapping three clones extremely difficult. Really not sure what to do about it. And I’ve already completely closed out my game to see if that would help it.
It just did that to me as well. I exited to my Springfield and it upgraded my mountain to level 3 without me doing anything. Went back to my neighbors and it was still focusing on their mountain with no scrolling. Exited to my town again and was upgraded to level 4! Did a hard close of my game and everything went back to normal.
I got my mountian up to level 2 and then stopped and it periodically tells me that i have leveled up. My mountian is now at level 4 but i haven’t done anything to get it there. Works for me.
Similar here – let’s me know I have an upgrade available after each 24 hours (so far). I press the button and it just upgrades 🙂 I have no related jobs available for Mr Burns.
Same for me, as far as I can tell. Each time I’ve tapped “Do It”, the focus goes to Burns, but he appears to be engaged in another task already, so I move on to other things. But I have been able to level up the pile to level 3, seemingly without having to make Burns spend any money.
For those of you who are stuck on level 2 at the $9000 mark, try visiting a couple of your friends and before returning to your town you hard quit (shutting down the app without exiting the normal way). I think i read something about that here so i tried it and it worked, when i came back to my town there was an upgrade icon above my money mountain and now im on level 3. the throw money quest is back for mr. Burns and everything is back to normal.
Unfortunately, I’ve got the glitch and this does not work for me. Just different things impacting different players.
FYI, glitch hit me halfway through level 5… seems more random than it first appeared.
When visiting neighbors I am getting money put towards Mr. Burnss contribution and still getting the cash put into the “bank account”. I had to go back in a couple times to be sure I was leveling up at the right time. Just like with bonus event currency. Anything over what you need doesnt get applied. Pretty cool glitch hoping ea doesnt fix it.
I got the glitch after two emptying pockets on level 4. Tried the go visit friends idea. Visited my remaining friends for the day. When I returned to the main game the money mountain had level up stars on it. The game has jumped the remaining money needed and levelled me up to level 5… So visiting friends is definately worth a try.
Hey I have noticed a glitch that you need to act on fast before it is patched. It is a way to get the money mountain to level 11 without spending much at all
1) Send Mr burns to throw money in the pile at level 1
2) go to your friend list and find a friend who has also sent Mr burns to the money pile (tthis bit may take a while).
3) alternate between that friend and the adjacent neighbour for as many times as you would need to send Mr burns to the money pile in your town. I think it is 10 at first. You can work out the math!
4) go back to your town and you will have leveled up without spending a dollar of your own cash
5) from this point on you repeat steps 3 and 4 for each level. You do not need to send Mr burns again.
6) at level 8 I would advise you to rush the mr smithers task for 12 donuts as ea may deliver a patch in 24 hours
It took me about 20 minutes to get to level 11 this way…enjoy!
And this is why the rest of us are suffering with NO tasks for Mr. Burns and the money pit. Guess EA is onto you. Hope the just get it back up and running. It’s a game. It’ll pay my fake money for my fake money mountain….I just want to play.

Worked for me, but only to level 7, then Burns finished his Bob quest, and I have to donate again, will try when it finishes in an hour and a half for the rest ^^
Nope stopped working at 7 for me, as soon as it changed to the crane. Not sure if they fixed the bug or what happened, but doesn’t work for me anymore.
It’s official EA hates me, I was able to send Burns to give the money 3 times, didn’t even get off level 1, and now its in Limbo not letting me go any further. Shows in task list, but when I go to “do it” he doesn’t have the task any longer.
I happy glitched up to level 9. I have Smithers on his 24 hour task. I really don’t want to spend the 12 doughnuts to hurry the task. So I will wait and hope EA doesn’t fix the glitch until Sunday at the earliest.

I can’t get to spend the money so sadly I’m stuck in no mans land until u fix with a patch! Been trying for a couple of days but nothing budging!
I’d rather just pay the $5.5mil and be done with it…
Just leveled up the mountain in less than 20 min from 1 to 11.
Found a friend who had Mr Burns on a money mountain task. Toggled between his town and the next one and looked for his mountain. Every time his Mr Burns would glitch – instead of piling money next to the mountain he would skip and raise his hands. Do this between 15-20 times and toggle back to your own money mountain. You will see it ready to upgrade or advanced into it. You can toggle between your friend’s money mountain and your own at any time to view your leveling progress.
I paid the 12 donut rush job to make sure I finished leveling before they patch the bug.

I am having a different issue with the money mountain. When I go to my friends’ towns that have it displayed, the screen locks on the mountain. I can’t move around to tap mutant veggies or anything. The only way to get away from it is to exit to the Friends screen again. Weird. Anyone else having issues like that?

I also had the same issue but my money mountain had a level up because of glitch. Once I leveled up I was able to visit and move around. Once I was done visiting again the level up was on, again the glitch that’s been hitting others.
