Terwilliger Act 3 is Live!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Greetings from the early morning hours here on the East Coast.  It’s about 4am here now and Act 3 has just arrived in our games!

Remember…this is an automatic change in your game.  Nothing to download, it should just start up in your game..

Lisa will kick things off for Act 3…and you’ll have to squish 25 Bob Clones (just an FYI Part 2 will require SSB, 8hr task)

Just what does Act 3 have in store for us?  Let’s take a look…

Update: YES…there ARE bonus donuts once you clear all the prizes.  Sorry guys…my brain lately + 4am wake up not a good combo. But yes there are bonus donuts (or bonuts).  😉

2015-04-14 11.51.38

There are a few early tasks you’ll need to do to get this Act really rolling, so make sure you have Lisa and Sideshow Bob free to get things moving in the new questline.

Now, let’s take a look at the new stuff added to our games…

New Prize currency for Act 4…

ico_terwilligers_musicnotes_lg Music Notes

You’ll be awarded Music Notes for completing jobs and tapping Bob Clones….collect Music Notes to unlock the Act 3 prizes.

Crafting

Yup…the same items from Act 1 and 2 are still in the store…for the same amount as they were before.  So you’ll still be able to unlock those…except some new ones have now been added!

Here’s a look at the new stuff that’s been added to crafting during Act 3:

Act 2 Prizes Now Craftable

Note: If you’re NOT seeing these in your craftable list (and you didn’t win them during Act 2) it’s a glitch as they should be there.  (they’re in my D game and I don’t have Sideshow Bob unlocked there, it’s only Level 12)  Try basic troubleshooting…like hard closing and restarting TSTO, visit a couple of neighbors and come back etc.  If that still doesn’t trigger them in the craftable menu then contact EA.  (and remember check the WHOLE craftable menu…scroll left and right.  Don’t just look at what’s right there.  Last time EA say a number of the people saying they didn’t see them in there craftable menu were people who just weren’t checking the whole menu)

If you missed out on any Act 2 prizes you can still get them by crafting them.  Here’s a look at what they’ll cost to craft:

Note: you can only craft them if you did not unlock them.

Opera House Upgrades

ico_terwilligers_operaupgrade

Update: I’m working on the upgrade post (which will break all the upgrade options down…BUT I just wanted to let you know I DO recommend upgrading first.  BUT I DO NOT recommend upgrading past Level 9.  The benefits from levels 10+ just don’t seem worth it to me.  Again…more details are coming in their own post.

First the Opera House will now payout 60 Music Notes/4hrs.

The Opera House is now upgradable…and we’ll cover the full details in another post, but here are some quick basics.

Note: (At least in my game) I can’t tap on the Opera House to Upgrade it.  I have to go into the Event Hub (Sideshow Bob Trophy Bottom Right of your main screen) to access the upgrade info.

Upgrading will NOT unlock until you’ve completed Plantom of the Opera Part 2 (Squish 25 Bob Clones)

Upgrades require Theater Masks and DNA

Again it appears there is NO Max for upgrading the Opera House.  You unlock the last task at Level 9 and at Level 10 you increase the Theater Mask Payouts…we’ll break it all down in another post.  But here’s a quick look at each level:

Everything earns theater masks…

Level 1 unlocks a job for Kooks to get masks (what you start with…12hr task for Kooks.  Earns 13 Masks)

Level 2 unlocks a job for Celebrities to get masks (Requires 100 DNA/225 Theater Masks)

Level 3 unlocks the Opera seats (you’ll be awarded one for FREE) and increases mask payouts from jobs

Level 4 unlocks a job for Youngsters to get masks

Level 5 unlocks the Ticket Booth (you’ll earn one for FREE) and increases mask payouts from jobs.

Level 6 unlocks a job for Entrepreneurs to get masks

Level 7 unlocks Opera Seats (yes again for FREE) and increases mask payouts from jobs

Level 8 unlocks a job for Criminals to get masks.

Level 9 unlocks a job for Saints to get masks.

Level 10+ increases mask payouts

Monsarno Payouts

monsarnohq_menu

Seeing a couple of different things at Monsarno when it comes to the payout for the building.  Previously it was 120 of the Prize Currency (Spades/Gas Masks etc).  Well i’m currently seeing 2 different things in 2 games…

In my A game it’s now paying out 8 Mutant Seeds/8hrs.

In my B game it’s still paying out 120 Music Notes/8hrs.

Not sure which one is the glitch…so we’ll talk to EA tomorrow and see if they can let us know what it should be….

Update: It appears we’re somewhat functioning at 4am…if you’re seeing the Mutant Seeds payout, visit a neighbor and comeback.  That should retrigger it to go to the Music Note payout.  Which means the Music Note payout is the correct one and the Mutant Seeds is the glitched one…

Changes to Cecil’s Daily Task Payout

Cecil Victory

Cecil’s Daily tasks are still there, however the payouts have changed slightly…

You’ll be awarded 150 Music Notes for every daily task you complete and in addition you’ll get some crafting currency at each stage.  Here’s the payouts:

First Task- 10 Corn, 150 Music Notes

Second Task- 30DNA, 150 Music Notes

Third Task- 100 Theater Masks, 150 Music Notes

Fourth Task- 250 Theater Masks, 150 Music Notes

Neighbor Actions

In neighbor’s towns you’ll be tapping Sideshow Bob clones will still  still award the same 1 Mustic Note payout and you’re still limited to 90 actions/day

You can also drop Mutant Seedlings, they’ll work exactly the same as they did in Act 2.  Only you’ll earn DNA and Theater Masks from them..in additional to Music Notes.

Note: Your Herbicide Radius will carry over to neighbors towns, making squishing Mutant Clones a bit easier.

Bonus Donuts

Yup Bonus donuts are still there when you complete the Act 3 prizes.  Once you’ve completed all the prizes you’ll see the popup appear for A Final Note.  For every 3,000 Music Notes you collect (after you’ve gotten all the prizes) you’ll have a chance for 1, 2 or 3 Free Donuts

Digging Deep Super Bonus 3 Donuts Won

And that my friends covers the Act 3 basics…

I know a lot of you want all of the details and you want them right now…but be patient.  Remember this is a marathon not a sprint.  And as always we’ll be back with more as we go through and break it all down… you know when it’s not 4am 😉

What do you think of Act 3?  Any additions you’re happy with?  Anything you’re not happy to see? Thoughts on where the questline is going?  What about the Act 3 prizes?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I’m a little tired of having to prioritize between upgrading and crafting. I was really hoping the upgrading business was finished with act two. I agree with whoever said there already isn’t enough DNA floating around, but now we need it for upgrading as well? The only new craft item I’m interested in is the houseboat so would I be able to get enough masks to craft that without upgrading? There are other craft items from previous acts I’m still working towards but I feel like if I start spending DNA on upgrades I won’t get there. Thoughts?

  2. I’m stuck…I can’t upgrade the opera house…it said I could…but now I can’t….what am I missing? I’ve tried going out and back in but no luck. I tried tapping on the trophy and on the opera house….all with no luck….how do I upgrade….can you give me step by step directions because I’m amazingly stuck Nd frustrated. Thanks!

  3. Am I the only one who feels like DNA is super unbalanced compared to the other resources. I have way more corn than I need, and fertilizer is very easy to get but once I got the GAS and Grub it is taking forever to get enough DNA. I won’t be able to get most of these items due to the scarcity.
other than that I am loving the new update.

  4. Maybe I’m being dumb here……it says above that you need Lisa and Sideshow Bob to be free to kick it all off…..but I don’t have Sideshow Bob in my game. Have I missed something?? I feel like I’m missing out because Lisa’s just roaming around with nothing to do except overeat on candycorn. Haha.

  5. I’m still 800 DNA away from getting the Gas and Grub – how can I part with any DNA now to upgrade the Opera House? (Fortunately, I can’t upgrade it right now anyway, as I’m still 375 masks away from being able to get to level 3.)

I’m really regretting some of the upgrading I did earlier…I think people were making squirter upgrading recommendations based on calculations that took into account the every-five-minutes Bob generation rate and, once EA changed that midstream, the payback just wasn’t there. I still don’t understand why so many others are ahead of me in the crafting. Just glad I got the farmer’s market at least!

    • Don’t.

Get the gas and grub first…you’re so close. Then upgrade. You can still send kooks to earn masks without upgrading.

      • wildthornberry88

I’ve only got the farmers market too. My monsarno is 16 & squirter is 11. Feeling very behind XD

    • I can relate (I think) with you Sandra. More than a few of my neighboureenos have had items already crafted for days, if not for weeks. It’s not just the big items, but also mutilple M-walls, cane fields, and even a extra Monsarno building, too!

I, however, just received the last strands of DNA needed to craft the Gas and Grub this morning — finally!.

I thought their Mutant Seedling ranking was the main factor, but that co-relation has been inconsistent. At this moment, I’m concluding that it’s a case of doughnut use. Something I’m not too comfortable with following since I am:
      (1) a nearly-virtually-freemium player & (2) maybe a bit of a miser.
      LOL! ☺

As long as I get me that houseboat & all the musical note prizes, I’m good.

      😀

    • Don’t start beating yourself up about upgrading Sandra! There’s still lots of time for the upgrades to play themselves out, and in spite of EA outrageously changing the spawn rate midstream, it should all come good before the end of the event. (Well, I sure hope it will anyhow, I did the same thing!). People are hitting the crafting rewards at different times for all sorts of reasons, a big one would be how many taskable characters they have in their towns (if you look at the 3- hour DNA task, for instance, a freemium player will have roughly one third the number of possible earners that a completionist will have). So if like me you’ve only got a sprinkling of premium characters in your town, then it may take a bit longer … but you’ll get there! I got to the Gas & Grub today, but I’m keeping a buffer of DNA for the first few opera house upgrades – I think they will show results faster than the Monsarno ones, since they are all targeted at one currency.

      • Thanks, babyob! I’m seeing a lot of “ooh, I finally got the Gas and Grub” posts the last couple of days and I’m still about 175 DNA away. I’m guessing I’ll have it by tomorrow, but then it will be like starting all over from scratch for Act 3. Fortunately, there are several craftables that I don’t really care about, but there are a few, and I don’t know how much of a chance there is that I’ll get all of them. But I’ll I just keep on tappin’ and hope for the best! 🙂

      • Sandra, don’t feel too bad, I’m still ~1800 off GnG…
        Sigh 🙁

  6. I’m a newbie to tsto, I started playing in the middle of act 1 of this monsarno story line, and I’m only level 17. I haveno been able to send crabappel on a date with the bobs so I have not yet reached sideshow Bob, does that just mean I am stuck in the plot line until I reach level 22?

    • That’s basically it. You can still craft and unlock prizes…you just won’t get SSB until you unlock Mrs. K

    • TheWackyWombat

I feel for you, had the same problem with Comic book guy during the superhero event. The low levels fly by pretty quick, so you should still have time if you work at it.

      Good luck!

  7. TheWackyWombat

Have to say, feel a little disappointed with the format of this event. I don’t mind grinding, and I’m enjoying the story line, but it feels a little like the crafting was added just to pad out the calender.

Introducing a new crafting mat each stage, and forcing us to unlock all the jobs each time, just feels lazy. At least in the superhero event I felt like I was making progress collecting crafting mats, even though it was slower.

Forcing us to grind mats just to allow us to farm three times in a row. A little variety would have been nice.

  8. Is there a reason the following characters don’t earn currency in this event?
    Akira
    Artie Ziff
    Blue-Haired Lawyer
    Carl
    Cocoa Beanie
    Dewey Largo
    Don Vittorio
    Dr. Colossus
    Fallout Boy
    Freddy Quimby
    French Waiter
    Helen Lovejoy
    King Winter
    Kirk
    Luann
    Luigi
    Lunchlady Dora
    Marge
    Marvin Monroe
    Matt Groening
    Miss Hoover
    Mrs. Muntz
    Petroleus Rex
    Plopper
    Radioactive Man
    Sanjay
    Smithers
Stampy (okay this one is obvious)
    The Collider
    The Grumple
    Zutroy

(I am sure I forgot some). Is there a list of all characters that do earn currency in this event? Thanks.

    • Cause EA didn’t feel like giving them a job? 😉

However…if you upgrade the Opera house Entrepreneurs and Saints will have tasks to earn masks (as the post above says)

    • Mr. Auto-Correct

      LOL on Stampy;
Although I think there could be a
      “heroes” category for
      Sidekick Milhouse,
      Fallout Boy,
      Radioactive Man,
      Plopper,
      The Collider,
      Pie Man,
      and Fruit-Bat Man.

There could even be an “animals” category for:
      Jub-Jub,
      The Mutant Rabbit,
      and Stampy.

This rant could go on FOREVER, yet let’s not bug EA, am I right?

P.S. It makes sense that level 50, 51, and 52 characters wouldn’t have limited-time jobs because they’re new.

    • I don’t know how many events you’ve done in the past, but this is the first event in a long time and possibly ever that so many characters have been involved. I’m level 52 with a few premium characters and have over 60 characters able to do tasks.

Someone please correct me or refresh my memory any event which has had so many characters doing things at once.

Those complaining about not everyone having something to do; in previous events you might be lucky to have 10 characters to earn something.

      • Nope this is one where most of the characters in the game are involved. I don’t recall seeing another event where so many characters can do tasks like this. I mean Stonecutters had the groups involved, but you only needed 1 from each group to complete the task. This is the first where sending so many characters benefits you.

  9. Woo Hoo I finally earned enough to snag the Gas and Grub today! Now I guess I should focus on upgrading the Opera House. Of the new items, the one I am most interested in is the Simpsons House boat. I hope to earn a few flower walls and a few cane fields to round it out before the event ends.

    • Whoo hoo, me too! Good grief that seemed to take forever to get the Gas & Grub didn’t it? I hope the houseboat isn’t as painful. 😀

  10. The production date for the clones is right down. Anyone know what it actually is?

  11. When will we see the new calendar for act three? :]

  12. I’m missing blobs sent from my son’s game. They never get to my Springfield and he doesn’t get credit for sending them. Is there a delay and should I wait to see if they show up later?

    • It’s been going around off and on since Act 1 started. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they don’t. Best thing I can tell you to do is contact EA (from your Son’s game) and see if they’ll refund the seeds

      • One thing I’ve come to find out, if you are planting multiple seeds, wait for the first one to spawn, and start bouncing, and then plant another one, wait for it to spawn and start bouncing before doing a third. First time I attempted multiple seeds I clicked too fast and I think only one counted, although it was taken off of my amount.

  13. John of the Dead

Dang, this is an inconvenient glitch – music notes aren’t registering in my total. I was at 196, and Monsaro paid out 120 and the opera house 60, but after collecting them, my total was still 196. Is this wide-spread?

    • Honestly first i’m hearing. Try visiting a couple of neighbors and going back to your game. Then hard close and restart TSTO, see if that helps.

      • John of the Dead

Whew! That fixed it. Sooo glad I wasn’t really missing out on those. Thanks!

      • I had that issue in the last act, was told the same thing and it worked. Visit a neighbor and come back. Worked for me at least.

    • I suspected I was robbed of quite a few but wasn’t certain of the numbers, thought I might have imagined it

  14. kimberlyah794

I have to admit feeling a little discouraged in this event. I’m a SAHM, so I can be in my game pretty regularly. I’ve been playing for nearly a year now and have most of the characters, so I have loads of people to earn crafting items. Just this morning, I was able to craft the Gas N Grub. The only other craft able item I have is the Farmer’s Market.

In order for me to craft one of each of the remaining crafting items (and I’d like more than just one cane field, wall, or cactus patch, if I chose to make them), I will need 24,00 fertilizer, 8,500 corn, 10,600 DNA, and 17,700 masks. And that doesn’t even take into consideration the fact that DNA and masks will be needed for upgrading the opera house.

I *know* this is a longer event and it’s designed to take a while, but I just feel like EA has made this impossible for even dedicated tappers to complete the event. And I’m a premium player with loads of characters to earn craft items for me. The lasting and overwhelming feeling that I’m not going to be able to complete the crafting in time has really taken away from the enjoyment of this event for me. It’s been a TON of work with little payoff. Sure, Bob and family are finally here and that is AWESOME, but it’s just been a slog for me.

Sorry to vent. I know you guys hear a lot of complaining, and I hate to add to it. I know you invest so much of yourselves to help us have a positive experience and it is so appreciated. Without you this game would not be nearly as much fun!

    • You’re still doing REALLY well compared to a lot of players…

The thing with crafting is you have to pick and choose which items you want. And try to focus on those, anything you get after that is just a bonus. At least that’s how I look at it…which prevents me from going crazy.

      • Me too. But I do think it’s tough on the completionists. They’ll have to spend a fortune, and presumably they’ve already spent several fortunes.

      • kimberlyah794

Oh, I know I’m doing well compared to others. I feel particularly bad for those stuck because of Mrs. K. This is just the first event I’ve had where it’s a real choice/struggle to get everything. Knowing that I’m going to need so much of the newest crafting item is just so frustrating, and Act III has some awesome crafting prizes.

But you do have excellent advice on just focusing on what I want. That’s the reason I’ve only crafted the two things I have so far. If, after I get the other things I want by the end, I’ll craft the others, but I’m not killing myself over it.

        • That’s my take on it. While I’d love some cane fields and cactus patches, I’m just worrying about what I really want (Farmer’s Market (got it), Gas & Grub (got it), House Boat & Homer Decoy) and then i’ll worry about the rest if time allows. It’s the only way to keep my sanity during an event like this 🙂

  15. Ok, here is where I am, got the market, upgraded monsarno to level 19, but the hericider thing is at 13, not 15 yet. Should I? Been holding off cause I’m currently 1k DNA away from the gas station. And now got a lot of this to contend with Lol

    • I’m at 11 and have no complaints with it.

      • Ok, what about upgrading the opera…. I just did it’s first upgrade and it cost some DNA :/ thinking of holding off there and finish push for the station, cause DNA seems so scarce

    • Think about this: at level 13 you’re getting a payoff of 21 per click on a clone. At level 15 you get 25. If you tap 200 clones in a day, that’s a difference of 800 more crafting items per day. It will cost you 3000 crafting items to get it from 13 to 15, so it will take about 4 days to earn that back. Upgrading the herbicide squirter is an investment, the earier you do it the more you get out of it. But if I’m right that you click at least 200 clones a day, then it should still earn you more over the course of the event then if you don’t upgrade it.

The math is down, the math has spoken.

      • Oh, and in those 4 days you’re earning back what you spend on the squirter, you’re also earning what you would have earned at lvl 13. After that there are 10 days left, during which you will earn 800 more items per day than if you don’t upgrade. So if you upgrade to 15 now, you will earn 8000 more crafting items than if you don’t (assuming 200 clones per day still).

  16. So, my biggest question is that I’ve been grinding to complete the Farmer;s Market. So many freaking things to upgrade. If I concentrate on only that, I’ll never craft anything. Where to prioritze? Monsarno, Squirter, or Opera???

    • It’s hard to say…honestly I think the Opera House is the best bang for your buck upgrade wise (just don’t go past 10) cause you’ll earn a ton of masks. But it all depends on what you want. What level is your Monsarno at currently?

      • Monsarno is at 13 currently. I just a few minutes ago crafted the Farmer’s Market, so willing to put in some effort on upgrading, but don’t want to go crazy wasting all my supplies that I can’t recover. I still really want Gas n Grub, and the Houseboat more than anything, but would like a few other things, especially the sign.

    • …if it helps in any way I stopped upgrading at monsarno 16 and squisher 5. Was a total grind but got the farmer market during act 2 and the gas n grub at the end of act 2. I am a mostly freemium player at level 52 …just keep going as you will get there in the end! I really have my fingers crossed for newbies now who haven’t unlocked bob yet due to a mrs k task! Sending you all my taps whenever I can to help *hugs*

      • Thanks Brooders! It does help to not feel quite so alone. I’m with the others that this event is just a tad too challenging. I have a very demanding job, and the stress of keeping up makes it not as fun. I know, I know…..play how you enjoy, but I’m too OCD for that!!

  17. So I guess Sudeshow Cobs don’t earn masks? =/

    • It should be…it’s just a rare drop. So everything else falls at a much higher rate.

      • Yeah, it’s a pretty rare drop; you’re right. Sigh… I guess the Simpson Houseboat is the new Farmer’s Market. XD

Thanks for the response. I never did congratulate you on your future addict! Hope you’re all doing well. =3

  18. The Monsarno payout is 120 musical notes, that’s what I see in my game. 👍🏻

  19. …will check with next opera upgrade and get back to you if still the same for me ; )

  20. Woohoo! There is a long weekend coming up so I’ll be able to catch up on the sleep I’m going to miss this week.

  21. I’m warming up to this event. I didn’t like it as much as some of the other events, but I like some of the prizes. I crafted the farmers market and gas-n-grub, and I’m looking forward to the house boat. I appreciate all of the advice and help you guys provide. It helps a lot.

A few side notes: I’ve discovered that the opera house can be placed on Squidport, though I’ve decided to keep it on grass. Also, on a tangent, I finally got a Lard Lad today in the mystery box! I’m so excited. I’ve been wanting one for a long time. I’m so happy!

  22. Probably a silly question, do the Bob Clones have masks now in addition to the other 3 materials? I assumed they would, but haven’t seen any (yet?). I am still on Plantom of the Opera part 2

  23. cart items look great but feel that as only have the farmers market so far despite playing multiple times a day – no where near enough time to get them all 🙁

  24. …it looks like the theatre masks don’t get spent when you upgrade the opera house! This may mean that the boat house is actually within reasonable reach?! If it’s a glitch I’ll be quiet …shhh ; )

  25. Do you guys know if we will see random character tasks to earn extra notes?
Also, what about donuts after getting all the prizes?
As always, thank you for your awesome work!

  26. Sure would like to know how to get the opera house. Can you help me with this?

  27. reluctantyouth

Oops…I meant I’m done with Fertilizer and Corn Finally!! I still need DNA and luckily have enough premium characters to keep collecting for me.

  28. In the beginning of the event I was retarted enough to upgrade the Monaco Base and the Frink thingy hundreds of times… just wasted all my resources… luckily I have collected enough for the Farmer market and the gas station now anyway. Still I feel the urge to smack my head against something hard.
Do you know what will happen to the additional Monaco buildings after the events? Will they just be decoration or actually produce money?

    • Right now it just looks like they’re just decorations. But we won’t know for sure until it ends…then we’ll see if EA made any changes.

    • Ehm, sorry, of course I meant “Monsarno”. Why the heck am I always reading “Monaco”?

AHHHHH…can finally relax a bit and start sending my characters on other jobs until I unlock thier opera mask ones. I’m done with DNA and Corn finally!!

I crafted my Farmers Market today as before I had upgraded Monsarno to level 28 to increase DNA payouts. I crafted a 2nd Gas and Grub this morning as well.

Now I have to build up DNA again for upgrades for the ticket booth and another set of opera seats at level 7. I really like what the opera area has to offer and it has become part of my central Springfield Park.

The ONLY other thing I want is the Simpson Houseboat and that should be easy to get once everyone is collecting masks (already have enough corn saved to craft). The other crafting items are not great and aesthetically will not fit into my town.

    Thanks TSTO as always.

  30. Opera House only had a 💸 over it, it did not pay out 🎶

    • Weird…once I sacrificed two 🍩 to speed up the Opera House and test it, it began paying out 🎶. Sorry for jumping the gun…

      • Can I just say I love your special characters/Emojis? =D How are you typing those out?

      • Scarfy- I’m just using the downloadable emoji keyboard for iPhone, but I wish I was up to something way cooler…

      • Huh… mkay. Maybe it’s because I’m using an older version of them or my OS (iPhone 4 represeeent XD) but mine look different on the keyboard: 🍩 and 🎶 and 💸. I like yours better!

      • NEVER MIND!!! 😁 They just need to convert after posting lol
