Tap Ball Community Prize #5 Achieved: The Gridiron is Now Unlocked!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

With the reduction in sports balls required, we’ve quickly unlocked the final Community Prize…the Gridiron!  So log into your games to claim the newest prize!thegridiron_menu

So just what does it do?  How big is it?  What does it earn?  Are there questlines with it?  The answers to all that and more below the fold…

When you log into your game you should see this popup…

2015-07-18 13.09.00

Here are some Gridiron Basics…

Size: 6×9
Build Time: Instant
Conform-o-Meter: Consumerism +10
Earns: $300, 30xp

It is animated at all times, the little animated guys on the sign are well, animated.

There is a little questline that will popup with it once you place it, you will need Lisa free to start it:

Team with a Capital “I” Pt. 1
Lisa starts

Lisa: We did it, gang! We worked together to accomplish an astounding goal! This is a testament to teamwork and community!
Lenny: I didn’t do anything. I just watched.
Carl: Yeah. I was going to help you tap, but then my index finger felt like seeing a movie.
Lisa: Well, okay. But everybody else pitched in!
Wiggum: I took a nap in my cruiser. Was that helpful?
Sea Captain: I actually did everything in my power to sabotage your efforts. Don’t rightly know why. I just did. Yar.
Lisa: I can’t believe this! A few of us worked our tails off to earn prizes, and now we just have to share them with all the freeloaders.
Make Lisa Sulk- 12hrs, Earns 12 ico_june2015_amateurbucks_md
Make Non-Tap Ball Players Admire Tap Ball Prizes- 12hrs, $420, 100xp (you only have to send 1, and my game went to Moe first)

Team with a Capital “I” Pt. 2
Homer starts

Homer: What’s wrong, Lisa?
Lisa: I just can’t believe some people. They get all the benefits of Tap Ball fun, without contributing anything to its success!
Homer: Think of it this way. Millions of people can play it and have fun for free, just because 1% of the players spend a lot of money.  We refer to these people as “whales.” And they’re perfect angels.  Not like all those lousy non-whales! How I hate them!!!!!!!!!
Lisa: It’s just… it’s just that whenever someone doesn’t drop cash on our game, I feel so sad inside.
Homer: Oh, honey. Non-whales don’t care that their “rational spending behaviour” makes a little girl cry.  Because they have no hearts. And no souls. And they probably like to hurt others.  Now let’s focus on the people who DO have souls. Let’s thank the whales!
Make Springfielders Thank the Whales- 24hrs, Earns $600, 150xp

And that’s it, the details behind the Gridiron the 5th and final Tap Ball Community Prize!

What’s next?  Well Community Prize wise, nothing.  We’ve achieved them all! But there still are 3 days left in Tap Ball, so make the most of those 3 days and unlock the rest of the personal prizes!

What are your thoughts on the Gridiron?   Excited to have unlocked it?  Where have you placed it in Springfield?  How about the Community Prize concept overall?  Thoughts on the dialogue? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. To EA: you really think I’m going to drop money on a buggy freemium game? 😂That’s even funnier than the suggestion that Swansea will beat Chelsea when the Premier League starts.)

    • PS: Forgot to mention this – I’m now done with this event, as I’ve won all the personal prizes, all the community prizes have been unlocked and there’s now no point in doing the daily training anymore. (Well, except for bonuts, anyway.)

    • Sounds like you’re suffering from “rational spending behavior”. Don’t you care that you’re making a fictional little girl cry? Poor Lisa has to live in that buggy freemium game, you know.

  2. I dont know whats happen this animation and the one whith Ralph didnt happen, what’s the problem whith me?

    • Hard to say, i’m not in your game so i don’t know for sure. Best advice i can give you is contact EA let them know, they can go into your game and check it out

    • You not get Ralph’s somersaults? Hope not, funniest thing I’ve seen in the game!

  3. Thank you EA for making unrealistic goals and lowering and lowering the amount of balls needed so that we can win it days before the end of the event leaving us that sense of full accomplishment that teaches us if we all work together it doesn’t matter because you will reward us with it anyway. Now I have so many balls I don’t know what to do with (let my friends play with them? Should I just keep them and play with them myself? Should I buy even More with the A.Bucks? Should I keep working on my daily tasks? Should I just keep saying “Balls” just for the fun of it?)

Don’t get me wrong I love the prize, the continuous animation of the guys running after each other fits well near the Steel Mill.

I even got the naked Homer Statue so I feel like, Now What? Just tappa tappa tappa for a few Bonuts? Is the daily prize going to be an infinite amount of Balls or just 100? Or would it really be a trick and suprise us with the greatest Jock of all: Jacque! :p

Will this put rest to all those neigh-sayers or will they continue to panic over the most pointless of things? Will I Stop asking questions as if some sort of Narrator at the end of every Batman episode? Find out next comment – same blog -different thread. 😀

  4. So what will happen to all those balls? Tomorrows prize is a ball, it’ll be pointless.

  5. I am a bit confused by the goal of this event. love the community prizes but didn’t really get that many balls so wasn’t much of a participant. on the fighting I have been doing that every 4 hours and have my folks at max but now not sure what to do with the money. I thought in act 3 we would get actual prizes to buy like houses and such. it looks like the only things to buy is more juice or extra lights and stadium seating. I spent a ton of time playing and feel a bit let down by this particular event.

  6. As much as I faithfully read everything here, I missed the part that says why we are called whales. Is this my first “senior moment” or a Homer “Doh!” moment?

    • That’s just an expression for people who spend a lot of money…

      • I liked that because I’ve both spent a lot of money on this game and my first donut purchase was specifically so that I could buy the whale LOL

I believe whales are what they call the big spenders at casinos too.

  7. I hope EA makes the last “daily prize” a permanent NPC we can keep in our Springfield to remind us of this event…

  8. Ciarathomp988

Yay!!! Definitely one of the coolest buildings in the game. Not sure exactly where to put it just yet, but now I’m wondering what’s going to happen with all the leftover balls and tomorrows daily prize? Any idea addicts?

    • They’ll just be there…no way for EA to tell when you’d unlock everything so yea just part of it. If it didn’t unlock today, everyone would want them tomorrow…

  9. So what do we do with the balls? I hope the final daily prize turns into something cool now we don’t need the balls 🙂

  10. I find it odd that they would make a joke at the expense of their entire playerbase. But I guess they’ve really been doing that since the very first cutscene.

  11. Is there a reason why Lisa wouldnt be prompted to do the start of the missions at the Gridiron? She hasnt prompted the first mission after I placed it.

    • Try going to krustyland and back to springfield

      • I don’t have Krustyland yet so maybe that explains it?

Love this game btw. I just started playing and I’m totally addicted. Of course I’m a freemium player but there’s always the chance for free donuts for collecting pennants and going into overtime. I hope they decide to keep doing this

  12. So what do I do with my 42 balls?…LOL

  13. I love the Gridiron. This has been a fun event with lots of prizes. Thanks to all the Addicts for a fantastic job keeping us updated and adding to the enjoyment!

  14. do think maybe they will change the last daily training prize or maybe give the sports balls another use?
Just in case I’m saving the two I just got.

  15. I really like the community prizes. This is the first event with them since I started playing. I don’t play as often as some people do so it’s nice to have these prizes that I can contribute to earning but not have to go it alone. I never earn all of the event prizes but, hey family comes first so I’m happy with what I get. I only have one thing, more of a constructive critasism, not sure if it’s worth mentioning to EA but I wish the event buildings had a task that at least 2 charecters kept after the event. It would be nice to have a task for each building rather than it just sit there. I know I can still collect the cash & xp. I know there are data limits though & I am no game developer. Overall I found this event to be tons of fun! It moved at a good pace & didn’t last long enough to get bored with it. 😁

    • Same, this was also my first event with community prizes (I’m jealous of people who were around for Whacking Day!) and I really had fun even though I’m generally not into sports. I love all the free buildings and most of the premium offerings, and I might wind up storing the actual tapball field but like that I can make a soccer or football field with the bleachers and everything if I want.

My only wish is that people could use the tennis court, I would love to be able to have Marge and Bart play together!

  16. Got it two hours ago, as soon as I got in from work, placed it near the stadium, didn’t realise the task was related to the building till I read it here

The dialogue doesn’t make me feel guilty, I spent a few donuts during the event 🍩🍩

Yes community prizes are a great

In all seriousness, (which is unusual for me) anything that celebrates this community, and reminds us that we are all part of this community is a good thing, I’m sure regular readers will agree

  17. Mabdul Doobakus

The dialogue here is pretty funny and on point. A nice jab at folks in the online community who continually complain about EA trying to make money off of this game, which is completely free entertainment for the most part. Loved the reference to the whales, too…

  18. Moemer Plimpson

I am a whale. I have spent over a grand in the past month on this silly lil game and it was all worth it! Worship me for my expendable income and my soulful heart of loveliness. Whooooioup, whooooium, whioiioueo! [whale sounds]

    • I used to be a pod of whales, then gradually down to only a single lonely whale. Thank goodness. I worship you for your generous contribution to all who are freemium and complain about how they must survive on the crumbs that EA throws to them……

    • Ciarathomp988

      …over a grand? Seriously?

    • Thank you for having disposable income. I wish you all the krill you eat.

    • Hello, whale. Nice to meet you.

  19. Wondering what the point of the last training prize is. The balls are worthless now, aren’t they?

  20. Oh, and a corollary question to the one I asked earlier… Now that we’ve won all of the Community Prizes, what good will it be to win more balls in the final daily task?

  21. the final Community Prize…the Gridiron (cool animated building that earns $ and XP) … I feel like I’m playing the original Simpson’s Tapped Out where a team effort allows for Prizes to be unlocked (as for the commentary within the quest – hey EA, until you fix EVERY bug in this game app? I’m not spending for reals!)

    • Just being realistic, but if you are a donut buyer, and “protest” because of EA not fixing bugs, or doing something else, IMO the only person you are hurting is yourself. I play a few online MMO’s, and hear people saying they will stop “funding” the game because of bugs. For every one person that protests, there’s (probably) 100’s more that are still paying.

  22. It’s Nice and all, but it also makes the final “daily prize” useless.

    • exactly my thought, thats why i waited with buying balls, cause there were still some to get, but now they’re useless and plenty, unless they make community bonuts, that would be great 😀

    • It does, although they probably did that so if we the community were just that many short of getting the final prize, that would give us a boost. Just unlocked the Homer Statue within minutes of waking up today. Now what? lol

    • Ha. Good point.

    • It’d be nice (and surprising) if they changed it to something else like a 4-pack of Obesotade or one or two donuts.

    • agreed. is there any use to the balls now?

    • I don’t know…I think that maybe the final daily prize is only represented by the rising sun soccer ball when in reality it’s something awesome, different and awesomely different.

    • I don’t know, I’m hoping that the special blue glow behind the sports ball final prize means that it is a permanent NPC soccer ball (or a ball that changes when you tap?) that just bounces around your town.

If it’s a normal sports ball x5 then … yeah, pretty useless.

    • Crusty Krusty

The time bonus will def. help with bonuts though!

      • Unfortunately, finishing the community prizes early doesn’t but us any more time for bonuts, since bonuts aren’t related to the community prizes, just the achievement of the Act 3 prizes.

It would be nice if we could use the extra time to work in getting “community bonuts,” though…if only there were such a thing! 😉

  23. So what about the balls for tomorrow’s daily quest? I spose it’s too much to hope they swap em out for donuts.

  24. What are we supposed to do with the last round of sports balls we get on the final day of the event? They seem a bit pointless now…

  25. Matthew Lenton

Now this has been won, surely the last daily prize of the balls won’t be relevant now as they won’t serve any purpose

I’d rather they change it to Amateur Bucks as we can at least do something with those

  26. Further proof (as if that should even be necessary) that one should always listen to our Addicts. When they say, “Don’t panic – we’ll get all of the community prizes,” they know whereof they speak! 🙂

One question though…I have a bunch of balls just waiting to be thrown to my neighbors. Is there any point bothering? Are there any Community Prize bonuts rounds? (Okay, a gal can dream, can’t she?) 😉

The Gridiron is joining a now long list of new questlines waiting to be played once I don’t need the core characters to be out there earning Amateur Bucks….I hope we get a decent-sized break before the next event, to give us a chance to catch up on all of those!

  27. I wonder if the final daily prize will remain as soccer balls or if it’ll get replaced, since they are now useless…

  28. Italian Beauty

How many Springfielders will we need to send to Thank the Whales?

  29. What will happen to the rest of the Sports Ball?

  30. moviebuff3000

Lol. If that wasn’t a diss to freemium players I don’t know what is.
