To start, you will need to make sure you are Up To Date on the App from your App Market to ensure you see all the content and have the patches necessary.
Additional warning, some Players reporting the game crashing as well with the Update. Looking into that a bit more. Additional note: It seems this is hitting more iOS6 and iOS devices. Cuavsfan has started a Forum Thread on it. Feel free to light it up with your comments.

When you first pop into your game after it is fully up to date, you will see Gil roaming your streets with a Fudgesicle Icon over his head. Tapping on it will trigger the dialog…
Gil: Used truck for sale! Used man selling a used truck!
Homer: Not interested.
Gil: I’ll clean all the half-melted ice cream out of the back. I’ll wreak havoc on my sciatica, but what choice do I have?
Homer: Half melted! Ice Cream! Sciatica! Wait, not the last one. But those first ones… SOLD!
The offer will then Pop Up on the Screen.
Ice Cream Homer w/Ice Cream Truck: 120 Donuts.

Gil: It’s me isn’t it? It couldn’t be the ice cream, because who doesn’t like ice cream? But everybody doesn’t like ol’ Gil.
The offer will then be moved into your Main Menu Screen.

If you take the offer and place the Ice Cream Truck in your Springfield…
Ice Cream Truck: Is a Decoration, but animated when tapped. The lights flash, engine rumbles, and smoke shoots from the tail pipe. It also plays some Ice Cream Man Music, followed by “Product contains neither Ice or Cream.”
Gil: I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
Gil: Also I scream at the nightmares brought on by the sadness of my horrible life.
You will then see the Pop Up for Ice Cream Man Homer’s Outfit. You will have to play through the Questline to unlock it. More on the Questline in another post.
Homer will start the Questline for “Ice Cream Man Cometh.”
SIDE NOTE
For whatever reason, EA swapped out Fat Tony for Snake in LA Body Works. Task name remains the same, but Snake is now in that spot. Looking into it, but this may be permanent.

Unless Gil comes out with a serious summer donut deal I’m going to guess that I’m not the only premium player passing on the barrage of recent over-priced offerings because it’s also summer vacation time, family birthdays etc. I’m beating myself over the head trying to justify a Simpson’s Lego set for my daughter’s bday $100 more than the last Lego set I beat my head against for a Bday present. *Smither’s voice “I Hate You, I Hate You, I HATE YOU!”

I am looking to contact anyone who works at EA or knows someone who does. I am a stay at home mom who plays Tapped Out daily. I have a lot of ideas for the game which include solutions for the games size and lag. I live in Lakeland, not far from the Orlando Office. I would like a job where I can work mostly from home (I have a 3 month old baby girl) but can go to the office when needed.

Trust me, this isn’t the place to try and find a job at EA (or for EA). Best thing to do is go to their website and employment opportunities.
Ice Cream Homer? (I don’t recall that episode) but the suit reminds me of Garbage Man / Sanitation Supervisor Homer. I think I would have preferred that combo instead.
In the episode the ice scream seller died and Homer bought the Van. He pimped the mobile and you could see Homer dress as an ice scream truck driver in an Ali G. parody.
Marge used the remaining ice scream sticks to make sculptures.
I wonder who’s had more jobs/careers, Homer or Barbie? Granted, Barbie’s jobs have tended to be a bit more glamorous…but, I suppose that depends on one’s definition of glamorous….I’m sure some folks would think that driving a snow plow its way cooler than being a flight attendant….
(Here comes Wookiee to remind us that Homer has been a flight attendant, too! 😉 I don’t remember that, if he has, but there are also a few seasons that I missed, so it’s quite possible…)
I almost bought the ice cream truck right away, but if it is just going to be a decoration without any permanent tasks, I’m now leaning on passing on it at that price. I’ll wait for the “Should I Buy” piece on it.
Meanwhile, Fat Tony is playing his miniature violin to the management of LA Body Works now. I’m puzzled over the whole thing. I suspect it was all an inside deal so that Fat Tony could collect unemployment now and get out of doing manual labor. Besides, he still has his two henchmen working on the inside track of the economics of Springfield Heights. To add insult to injury, he mocks the whole situation by hanging the yoga mats icon above the building when he’s got nothing else to do.
Homer keeps the Ice Cream man outfit so the truck has tasks when the quest is over.
puzzled about this as well, i got the scoop from rex banner (the omnipotent sky finger threatened to catapult him again if he didn’t spill the beans), who helps facilitate fat tony’s heroin shipments (FT: “from now on, we’ll stick to smuggling heroin”, RB: “see that you do!”).
if you may recall, the current fat tony used to be fit tony from san diego, and growing up there he developed ties to the drug trade up and down the coast of southern california. “working out” a deal with la body works to be a front for his heroin business, he helped push through the expansion of a new location in the unlikely town of springfield once he took over for his cousin fat tony. no stranger to all manner of grand larceny, fit tony soon discovered that life in springfield had robbed HIM of his desire to stay fit, and soon he became known as fit fat tony, and then just fat tony as we now know him today.
so you see, his brief foray back into the gym was but a feeble attempt at recapturing what once was. realizing he will always be fat tony, he is now recuperating in the hot tub while his henchmen continue to put in long hours at la body and the coffee shop to produce enough “yoga mats” and coffee for their side business mass producing heroin pills with pharm-er john. the yoga mat icon above the establishment is just their version of shoes on the telephone wire, letting all of springfield’s addicts know where to get their fix.
Just in case you’re not already aware:
EA patched the crashing issue with another update, so Springfield should be back up for iOS users. 🙂

I’m still locked out. The game keeps telling me when jobs are finished and when my neighbors visit, just to add to the madness.
I’m glad that some people are up and running again. Still no change for me though 🙁
And about a half-hour after I reply there is my patch! I am now able to actually get into the game and play 🙂
Hopefully I was one of the last and everybody can get in now.
My patch just came through. It fixed my issue, hopefully everyone else’s is fixed too. 🙂 I’m on the kindle fire and we are normally the last.
I’ve been grinding at Springfield Heights for days and was #1 amongst my friends… until somebody must have paid thousands of donuts to get to billionaire status. I should unfriend.

Respectfully, Bunny, this sounds like it came straight from an EA rep:
“Keep in mind that events, mini releases, tie-ins, etc are all scheduled MONTHS in advance. So long before the “glitches” were in place, these were created. They won’t just hault the game. That can cause them massive other issues on the Company side. Delaying releases creates nightmares.
That is like saying that payday is coming up at work, but your Company has an issue with one of it’s product releases. so they will not pay any employees until it is fixed. To do so… utter chaos and nightmare. A company can’t come to a stand still while they resolve an issue.
It does suck when stuff like this happens (been playing for 3 years), but know that the two are in no way what so ever linked so try not to think of them as the same entity because they are not. Age old saying “the show must go on”, regardless of what is going on back stage. ”
TSTOA does a great job of helping players to navigate the game and, as always, thanks for that. That said, EA shouldn’t get a pass when they keep trotting out endless premium content while ignoring obvious existing problems. They just want more $$$. The last time i was locked out for 3 weeks while being told a patch was coming “within 24 hours” the entire time. I’ve been a premium player for 2 + years and just became a freemium player. I won’t touch any other EA game in the future.
Which is understandable and completely up to you. We just try to be the calm, collected ones when everything goes upside down. Trust me when I say we get just as frustrated as some, maybe even more. Our goal is for this site to be a friendly atmosphere for all and try our utmost to be positive in our responses to other addicts.
OK after reading this thread..called ea about the missing donuts again…it took a minute ,they called back and replaced my donuts and my daughters donuts….very easy….give them a call..BTW. should hit 200million tonite…then probably slow down a bit….thanks everyone

I stand humble and corrected. Today I contacted EA. In less than ten minutes I had my donuts back. I can’t say enough how pleased I am with EA customer service. My only caveat would be to be polite and honest. How easy would it have been to say I lost 500 donuts? Or to be rude and angry? Very easy. I was nice and explained what happened, and the Rep Jason checked my account, and verified my past purchases. After confirming who I was with an e-mail check, and going over my history, he added my donuts right then and there. The mods here are correct, don’t be like me; don’t complain on this board until you’ve tried to contact EA. I hope you will all be as pleased as I am.

My rep was thanking me for being so patient and pleasant (their words). I told them I would stay on the chat as long as needed so that the rep could “work their magic”. I got my donuts back in about 10 – 15 minutes, also. Chat worked MUCH better for me than the return phone calls did.

Patch has come through that lets me get back into my previously locked-out town. :o) Now I just need to get my missing donuts back.
Confirm Donut Spend.
Once again, after an update, I spent donuts rushing a task. Please, everyone, go to your settings after each update and confirm your settings have not changed. Been playing since last October and have never had the issue before – so it is a steep, and semi- expensive, learning curve. Rats! Does EA have customer service for self inflicted “unintelligent” play?
My game hasn’t force donut spending on me, yet. I’ll double check before grinding in SH, because there I’m always accidentally trying to spend donuts (it happens when you click 5 to 7 PCs off to work in a row.

Hey Crusty Krusty, have you tried the call back option with EA yet? I lost donuts last week, used that option they called literally as soon as I gave my number. Rep was very friendly & I had my donuts back before we hung up. I’ve used this option several times on different issues & they have always been helpful. Give it a try, remember be nice, they are more helpful if you aren’t upset!😉
I didn’t get my lost donuts back with this update. Any word on when that will be resolved? Contacted EA back when issue first happened.
Contact them again. I doubt a patch will help get them returned.
You need to keep contacting EA until you get a rep that will return your doughnuts. It took me three tries, but I finally got them back. They told me that the patch would return doughnuts, but I think someone there was misinformed. I even got an email from one of the tech specialist reps (after my doughnuts were returned) that said that the patch would fix the doughnut issue. So if your didn’t get any doughnuts returned to you with the patch, then someone at EA is lying, mistaken, or misinformed- or- the patch didn’t work for your game. In which case you need to call EA. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Great – now I REALLY want some ice cream and we don’t have any. Thanks, EA! 🙁

Hi, I haven’t been able to get into my game for hours now, am in the UK. I have tried all the usual. Even scarily deleted and downloaded again twice! It goes to work then just flips back to my home page. Getting serious withdrawals and feels a bit horrible. Any issues you are aware of? Have contacted EA but no response as yet. Yours in ,, well, quiet hell.

Oh I’m so sad….ice cream homer is one of my faves…especially the uniform sequence. But spending 120 donuts on a decoration and a skin is too much for this freemium player. This one was hard to say no to. And six days… I can only think that one day if I become donut rich it will come back for me.
Hello. I know this is not anywhere near as bad as a game crashing, but now my LA gym always has the yoga mat symbol on it. Never goes away even after sending all available characters to do their tasks. Small glitch could be connected to the bigger picture.

I noticed in my Other Springfield there is some sort of horse property with tents on the side. It looks like a horse traing place. I also see the Ziff helicopter. What is the horse thing? Did I miss something? I was going to put a picture in my comments but it didn’t work.

I just talked to EA. They said there would be a patch in the next 24 hours. I bought lady Duff (before I read your advice -someday I will learn) but didn’t finish the quest line. Now my game closes when I go through the conversation that goes along with the ! above Lisa. They said they were aware of this issue and a patch would be released in the next 24 hours. I’m assuming they are also fixing all the other issues since mine seems kind of minor.
I got the crash issue with a character’s dialogue, in my case, the Sea Captain. Another player has the same issue with Apu. Storing the character didn’t help, the dialogue will just start automatically when logging and crash. I’m pretty much shut out of my Springfield for now since this update.
Again, EA is the WORST. My IPad air is fully updated. Don’t waste your time deinstalling and reinstalling. Please don’t apologize for EA, TSTOA.

Just a quick question for the addicts: do you guys have any idea on how long it is going to take EA to rectify this crash-at-log-in issue? I know you’re not EA and you don’t have any kind of authority or access to the games inner workings, but do you know if it’s gonna take a few hours or a few days based on previous experiences with similar issues? Any kind of a guide will help. I’m in Australia so I have no idea what EA’s operating hours are in regards to the time difference.
Seems like a major balls up at EA.

Lol. That is like looking for a needle in a haystack. First, they have to locate the issue and all devices impacted (hoping it is within the game and an easy fix vs something in the Device they do not create that will take a LOT longer to track). Then isolate the issue and all it’s causes. Then work to create a patch to get around this issue. Then test the patch for completion and ensure it will resolve the issue. Then send the patch either direct to the game OR Send it to the App Markets if it has to be App Only sent and wait for the App Markets to do their “approval” on it. Then it is released game wide.
So… as you can see… it can take anywhere from now til eternity. It all depends on what is involved with the issue. 😉

So I don’t know if they’ve updated so it no longer works with my phone, but I cannot update my Simpsons game. I updated for the Springfield Heights and had been building and collecting things for it, but my play store does not have an option to update now, just uninstall or open. And open just opens the game and leads me to the need to update. Its a vicious cycle and I’m so sad. I’ve been playing Tapped out for over a year. Any suggestions? 🙁
Try closing out, restarting your device, and trying again. OR… bypass the App Market and go straight to the Apps Page. Then try it.
I was at level 55. I’m now back at 54 and can’t build the hotel now that I have the money for it as my level isn’t high enough 🙁

The solution to the constant yoga mat icon is simple. Just put Fat Tony on a task and the icon disappears, at least as long as he is on a task.
I’m getting the feeling all new doughnut items are going to be limited time. 6 days seems to be about average. They need to either be more flexible or I’m going to have to move out of NY, can’t afford both
