Monorail Act 3 Is Live

Note: The servers have been giving me issues off and on since Act 3 hit.   It’s probably just a bunch of people trying to get in at once.  Or it’s just because it’s 4am here on the East Coast and 1am where EA is.  In any event…don’t panic if you see the Bart Screen.  Just hit retry and see if you can get back in.  If you can’t, walk away from your game for a little bit and come back to it later.  The servers will come back, they always do…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Happy Friday!  Woohoo it’s finally the weekend!  (well as soon as 5pm rolls around…)  But here I am up at just after 4am here on the East Coast because Act 3 (the final Act) of the Monorail is now live!

Remember…this is an automatic change in your game.  Nothing to download, it should just start up in your game..

Just what does Act 3 have in store for us?  Let’s take a look…

2015-08-11 17.12.37

Act 3 will start up with some dialogue from Sebastian Cobb…

Sebastian: The Monorail is almost complete.  Now all we need are some bells and whistles.
Quimby: You mean unnecessary projects that provide opportunities for corrupt officials to skim a little of the top?
Sebastian: No, I literally need bells and whistles.  We need a way to warn people before we hit them.
Quimby: That’s fine.  I can skim off necessary projects as well.

New Prize Currency for Act 3..

ico_mono15_bellswhistles_lg Bell and Whistle

You’ll be awarded Bells and Whistles now for the Project Board, Clearing Possums and visiting neighbors (and clearing neighbor actions in your town). This also includes the 5 day Daily Combo, you will now get 5000 Bells and Whistles on the 5th consecutive day of play.

Daily Challenge Bonus

It’ll still happen for the Project Board, just like Act 1 and Act 2.  Only now you’ll be awarded ico_mono15_bellswhistles_lg for completing actions.

Bonus Donuts

The bonus donut questline is back!  This time it is Project Management: Glass!  The questline will ONLY appear for 3 parts and then you’ll complete it.  So you can only earn 6 donuts this round at most.  But hey free donuts are free donuts! 😉

3 donuts

Act 3 Questline

No real questline for this act, as that hit the other day.  BUT there is the Fast Track to Success questline that will appear.  This essentially tells you to place the Mall-O-Rail Station and Station pieces as you earn them.

Bonus Track

Yes, once you complete the Act 3 Prize Track you’ll have the opportunity to earn bonus track again.  And yes, the project board cap will be removed once you unlock all of the Act 3 prizes…

Act 2 Prizes

IF you didn’t collect them all… you can still access them by tapping on the “ACT TWO PRIZES” tab in the Personal Prizes area. As you can no longer collect items for them, your only option now is to pay donuts to outright by each one left at the point you left off at.

New Items in the Store

No new items were added TODAY, but a few items hit our stores yesterday.  Check out this post for more details on those items…

Rail Yard Prizes

railyard_menuNote: Once you unlock and place the Railyard, the Project Board becomes obsolete.  You will NOT be able to turn in items at the Project Board after you unlock and place the Rail Yard.  This will only impact you when it comes to earning Bonus Track via collecting Bells and Whistles….but you’ll still get the bonus track described below via the Rail Yard.

This also eliminates the Daily Bonus.  So once you’re in the Rail Yard you will no longer get the Daily Bonus…

Once you unlock the final Act 3 prize you’ll have a chance for even MORE prizes!  Well more tracks….and free donuts

2015-09-04 08.05.12

It looks like you’ll be given the chance to turn in items from the dump to the Rail Yard to make more mystery Track pieces…

2015-09-04 08.11.02

It looks like you’ll be given the opportunity to earn more tracks and free donuts each week via the Rail Yard, which is great for players who were hoping to get more tracks after the event ends!

The bad news is you’ll still have to grind out tasks to earn materials to get tracks…

Just for those curious…looks like you can earn 16 track pieces + 5 donuts per week with the Rail Yard.

This is something we’ll cover more in depth in another post…for now just know that the option is there for more tracks after the event ends!  So work hard to earn that Rail Yard before the event is over!

And that my friends is the details of Act 3 of the Monorail Event!

What are you’re thoughts on Act 3?  Excited about the prizes?  How many tracks have you earned so far? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I think a nuke of my town is very likely to happen once the event’s over. It’s really messy.
SH didn’t help either, I stored so many buildings after sending people on wrong jobs by accident, and a lot of the time I just put them back any old place.
My town is rubbish at the moment!

  2. Whohooooo, you can get tracks after the end of the event! So happy!

Btw i got the disapearing characters bug (for example Marge and Moe were gone from my game, even though Moe’s tavern was still in my town), together with buildings not showing up anymore. (Buildings reappeared after a reload, missing characters did not). This is on Android, level 57, ~4,500 items in game.

I read here, there might be a connection with having Monorail tracks over water, so I removed the water from under my tracks. After i did this, i was able to get the missing characters back by storing the buildings they belong to and placing them back into the town. Since then, no buildings have disappeared as well. This is just an FYI, might not be permanent, but could be worth a try for those affected.

  3. Since the update of the third part i cannot play anymore. Don’t see Bart, the game starts, but than i cannot do anything, i cannot tap of scroll the screen… Reinstall the game, restarts my iPad many times… Doesnt change anything… A friend of me is here with his iPad and with his account the game works… I logged in on his iPad and the same problem… Game dont respond on my account…
Can Anyone help me please ?? I’m playing from antwerp, belgium… But i don’t think thats the problem because it works by my friends…

  4. 16 track pieces and 5 doughnuts a week sounds absolutely wonderful! This event is one of my favorites. I love having the monorail. I’m looking forward to building a track that goes all the way around my Springfield. And 5 doughnuts a week (guaranteed?) is music to the ears of a freemium player.

  5. I just received 5 curved, 3 straight, and 1 s bend when I got 2nd prize today, strange but exciting. Half way saved up for Jasper and Community center. I foolishly spend my fortune on Lisa Lionheart, Stiletto heel, and Homer Bubble car, then got Tire fire for weekly prize to get to 114% bonus. Got Witch Marge awhile back and cut off 3 weeks on Corn. Coulda cut more but with events she’s been busy.
Also, my town’s a mess and needs some serious redesign and moving. Anyone know a good app for iOS to Mac to do all this moving around? I’ve heard of one for android but not iOS. Thanks 🙂

  6. Ive started having problems with my tsto. My buildings seem to keep vanishing and Mr Burns has gone and it says i need to get the cooling towers again. Is it just me with this issue or has someone else got/had it?

  7. I’m wondering about this report that placing tracks in the water is what is causing bugs. Think I should take my track out of the water as a precaution?

  8. Chooo chooo…all aboard! Wow new station, the promise of eternal free tracks and bonuts AND a new level…love this wonderfully silly little game : )

  9. Keeping all my stations close together for now. 1) due to lack of land and 2) because of the possums. I would rather have them all in one spot to tap on until the event ends. The new station will go in the Heights section after the event. It matches everything else in there. Gonna be tight though. Not a lot of land in the Heights section yet.

  10. I missed the 9th prize of act 2 by 30 dounghts. How much is the hippie if i pay 30 donuts to get to the hippie?

  11. Bart and Lisa yells “Aaaahhh!!! Sebatian Cobb!!!” (I was holding onto that joke since Act 1)

  12. OK, I admit it. ALISSA WAS RIGHT. Lisa’s plant was overpriced. I would add that buying any premium item to advance in this event was also a waste of donuts, unless you liked the item itself. EA says thanks to the whales and then screws them. Great policy!!! Still, there was no way of knowing and in the air of uncertainty, I would have acted the way I did.
As to results, because I was using Lisa’s station, I unlocked the Hippie earlier and earned 19 pieces of track instead of 14 like the last act. I reached 347000 tape rolls, which was exceeded by only one neighbour. 13 of my current century did not unlock the hippie for free.
On a different note, the station unlocks the possibility of creating track ‘permanently’ and earning donuts. Tappers are already complaining that they lack space, so where are they going to put immense numbers of generated track? In storage. I doubt EA is going to like that. I also doubt EA is talking about awarding 6 donuts a week. I imagine the donuts will be like for cleaning Springfield or visiting neighbours, i.e. one donut in 40 actions or more awarded randomly. Sorry to be pessimistic, but I have trouble seeing EA giving every player 6 donuts a week every week for a few minutes of playing. Of course, I could be wrong like I was about them making track generation available after the event.

  13. It sucked not having an official thread to freak out on last night (1am). But, now it is begun, let’s get it started…

10 days — 10 prizes…… Wow, cutting this [expletive deleted] close! It’s like they want us to freak out. Well, congrats…I am, a bit. I’m ready to be annoyed by the caps, but so far I have the first prize and am only 3k away from the next one (with my next project basically being 3k in value). 🙂 *calms self down*

Super excited to get the rail yard. It’s like bonus track pieces for life! And donuts??? Okay, I’ll have to actually read this post and see if there’s more info on that, but seems pretty clear…donuts for life!!

Okay, now back to not having enough sleep…for life!

  14. What is the difference between making the pieces with the rail yard and what happened in the other acts?

  15. The Awesomest Game Ever!!

  16. Wish they had a piece of rail in the shape of a plus sign so that your track could cross itself at times

  17. I am a premium player, and have all of the personal prizes, and still have a cap at the rail yard. The only thing I haven’t completed yet is the Project Management quest line. This happened to me in Act 2. I’m pretty sure you have to have all the prizes AND the Project Management quest line completed to get the cap lifted.

    • Also, the project board becomes obsolete after you unlock the rail yard. You can only turn in projects at the Rail yard. So once you’ve hit the cap at the rail yard, you have to wait basically 4 days to turn in anything??

      • The cap doesn’t apply to the rail yard…

But as long as the event is going on you can turn in projects at the project board, still get bonus track there

        • I stand corrected…once you unlock the Rail Yard the Project Board no longer works. So you’re limited to 16 tracks/week that you can earn. You can still earn Bonus track via collecting Bells and Whistles, BUT you don’t earn Bells and Whistles via the Rail Yard. It comes up as Blueprints. So you’ll have to earn B & W via Neighbors, Possums and clearing trash in our town for the extra tracks.

      • Ok, thanks. Glad my game isn’t acting up, and that it’s supposed to do that. I’m also getting a good amount of B&W from Lisa’s recycling building. Works out well. Thanks again, Alissa 🙂

      • What if you hold off on placing the rail yard?

I suspect a 3,000 bonus track is easier than the rail yard (5,000 shown above).

        Expatrie-

    • Why didn’t you play like a fermium player and then at the end of the act get the ones you missed with donuts You will save them 🙂

      • I guess I just really want to finish my monorail…having lots of fun with this. And why play freemium, when you can play premium?? 😉

      • To save money… 😕

      • @cwashburne630 to save the hundereds of dollars you wasted on donuts to buy items you would get for free within 10 days, in a game that will not exist once the show ends in about 2 years. what a waste of money that was. And all for one character.

      • @Bomberswarm2 since when is it anyone’s business how I choose to spend my hard earned money? And how the heck do you know how much I spent on donuts. You don’t. And quite honestly, I think your comment was really rude, and I’m surprised the it was even put up by the moderator. Way to go TSTO addicts. Pretty sure this isn’t the first time you guys approved comments that made people feel horrible. I’ve read comments on your site, where someone said they were trashed so badly on here after accidentally spraying graffiti on someone’s building. That person was basically cyber bullied, and lost most of their neighbors. Over. A. Game. Such BS.

        • The comment is not viewed as malicious. I’m sorry you’re offended by it but the comment just said they felt like you wasted your money. They didn’t out right attack you, call you names or anything else. They just said you wasted your money. It’s not cyber bullying if they’re just stating their opinion without saying anything malicious to you.
It’s our job to moderate and keep the conversation constructive…if the comment was hateful or malicious it wouldn’t have been approved.

I’m sorry it made you feel horrible, but the comments here are meant to spark conversation. Defend your position and explain why you felt it wasn’t a waste of money.

There are players on both sides of the spectrum. It’s our job to push comments from both sides, as long as they’re not malicious or hateful. In this case the comment was not malicious or hateful.

      • To make one thing clear. I did not say that I was cyber bullied. I said the person who wrote the comment about being outright attacked on your site for accidentally tagging a building was cyber bullied. It’s very obvious that bomberswarm2 was being hateful, and TRYING to make me feel like an ass for “wasting” money on the game. I shouldn’t have to “defend my position” to this person who made me feel horrible. Screw that. I already stated that I just really want to finish my monorail, and that I was having lots of fun with this update. That person can clearly see that post. They commented on it. So there you have it.

        • They weren’t attacked. Someone went on the vandalize thread and said they were a serial tagger. So because it’s a non-vandalize thread people deleted them from their town. But it’s BS like that, that makes us want to delete the vandalize thread. However, things have been calm there since then.

As far as your comment…I’m sorry that’s how you viewed it. That’s not how I saw it. They didn’t outright attack you. They just said it was a waste of money. But I’m not going to comment on this further. It wasn’t outright malicious or hateful, that’s your interpretation. My interpretation is it wasn’t.

And for the record..I too spent donuts to finish Act 3 because I don’t have a ton of time to play it right now. I don’t feel that it’s a waste of money. But if someone wants to tell me it was, meh that’s their opinion.

    • That’s actually a really great thought, Expatrie. I had already placed the rail yard. Tried storing it to see if the project board would be able to be used again…unfortunately it didn’t work 😕 It was worth a try! Thanks!

  18. I gotta say, I liked the blueprints and duct tape better….they were so nice and quiet.

  19. How do I maximize my daily challenges? Should I wait until I have enough product to get the MAX reward? Or should I get as many small rewards as fast as I can? How do I maximize before they cut me off with the “Shew!”

  20. Yay! Great news about being able to make tracks and donuts after the event. Who cares if you still have to do tasks, this is awesome! ^_^

  21. “In any event….don’t panic if you see the Bart screen”
    Shouldn’t that read:
    “In this Event…..” 😝
(I’m leaving now, quietly and odiferously)

  22. Any idea if we will ever be able to connect springfield heights with the regular town? Was hoping that the track pieces would go over the mountains but that still hasnt changed yet.

  23. I’m planning on some major redesigns today since we now know we will be able to continue earning track pieces. Do we know if the rail yard connects to the monorail like the other stations, or is it a stand alone item?

Thanks as always for all your hard work 🙂

  24. Good morning, guess I wasn’t only one up most of night(morning)!
I got the first prize this morning around 6:00! Love that Marge is involved. I placed it down by the water with Lisa’s recycle plant beside it, as I know I can get my rail all the way to beach which is what goal is!
Thanks for early info, as usual, I started Act 3 without out as figured u would not have posted @ 6:00am (Slacker, just kidding you know), I was amazed you already have it posted, guess baby is keeping you up, was hoping you were still asleep as it’s been a busy week since you’ve been back.
Happy tapping all! Also a big thank you (sorry don’t remember who posted) for giving us heads up that we can store in SH. Spent a good part of late last night storing so I could move some SF buildings over the mountain.
Hope everyone has a great Friday!
Server has been giving me fits as well, figured would take a break & clear up email. Good luck everyone!

  25. Another station… meh :/.
I would more prefer some stuff which can be placed around monorail or something.

Anyway, what you guys doing with all the additional pieces for stations? Are you building smaller stops or your stations are getting bigger?

    • Mine are in storage…trying to keep the item limit down

      • Was fearing the same thing Alissa. All these extra pieces count toward our final count allowed…although if I’m not mistaken, so do track pieces?

        • Yea everything you place in town. So in my mind I’d rather have more tracks than station pieces. But I’ve also never seen the 4,500 warning in my game and I’ve been playing almost since the start. I just cut down on trees, flowers etc. But i still think my town looks good (despite what wookiee says)

      • It seems odd to me that EA keeps throwing all of these items at us that we all want to put in our Springfields, but then they put a cap on the number of items we can have on display. Plus- they keep giving us more land to play with, but with a cap on the number of items, the extra land doesn’t really help (except that the extra land lets us space things out more). I think EA needs to increase the cap on items. Though I would imagine that the limit has as much to do with your individual device as it does with the capacity of the EA servers. Just food for thought.

        • EA puts limits on the number of items to protect their players! Not everyone plays with a super-powerful device (I’m guessing that the majority don’t) and who’s gonna wanna keep playing if their device crashes every time they try to play or, even if they keep their own object count down, every time they try to visit their neighbors?!

We see people having these kinds of problems all the time during events, and that’s even with object count limits. If they lifted those limits, can you imagine how much worse out would be?

Think of it like speed limits…sure, it might be nice to be able to drive your car a lot faster, and maybe you’re a terrific driver and could handle that, but would you really want everyone to be driving on the highways at super-fast speeds? And what if the highway you’re driving on is an older highway designed to accommodate much lower speeds?

  26. My Depots all disappeared earlier this week and this plain sucks I was so close to getting the hippy. All EA is saying wait for an update. grrr

  27. Praise JubJub and his hot rock of flatness that we’ll be able to earn more track pieces once the main event finishes. 16 pieces a week is going to give me plenty of space and allow me to finish the Curvy Slaloms section of monorail (90 degree turns + Side Adjust pieces)

  28. Fully stoked for the rail yard, love this event.

What’s the daily cap for bells and whistles?

  29. With the update for Level 57, it sure looks like things are more stable. I’ve even “unleashed” my monorails and have had virtually no freezing problems. Kudos, EA.

  30. Grrrr. They have way too much plastic in making items, and very little glass. I have done 15 tasks today, and I still need to use 35 glass in order to make more to get my donuts…. And there are no glass tasks up currently.
