Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Last week we asked you what you thought of the Unemployment Building and the IRS Building and tons of you weighed in. Not only did you vote, but the comment section of the post was on fire with you guys giving your in depth opinion about both! Always love to see the conversation, both good and bad, about the game going on!
So now that the poll has been up for about a week, and as we gear up for the THOH (Halloween) Event, let’s take a look at the poll results….
With 5,000+ of you weighing in, here’s how the answers shook out….

So it looks like the majority of you are happy with the new additions. Whether you use them regularly or not, you’re glad the options are there!
Coming in second is the IRS building over the Unemployment Office…which I suspect has a lot to do with the bug where you can’t send all the characters at once (mostly for Android, which hopefully is fixed soon) AND the fact that it cost money to send the characters via the Unemployment Office.
The good thing is the majority of you are happy with the additions and only a small % feel like EA ruined the game by adding them. Which is nice, considering both features (well some version of them) have been requested for a while.
So there you have it…the good, the bad and the not so pretty results of the Unemployment Office and IRS Building.

Just downloaded the update (iOS in the US) and there is a difference. I can no longer use the unemployment office to send people on tasks!

I think halloween has leaked onto some devices before it was supposed to Alissa. I tried to post a screenshot but I dont know how to attach it. Basically the kids campfire stories come to life and theres supposed to be daily tasks but nothing in game has changed

It looks like it’s only hit Europe and most are reporting that there’s nothing just the splash screen. Looks like the iOS European servers pushed it before the game servers were ready

I have over 120 characters, so it saves so much time, the cost of the UE is balanced with the fact that I now send my characters on more 1-4hr jobs everyday vs. 24hr ones.
Re: the IRS tapping radius, I just LOVE it!
I’m gonna upgrade to level 9. You lose precision, but I’m not fussed about that; it’s oddly fulfilling to see so many things “explode” into showers of $ and XP at once 🙂
I keep fast-cycle buildings near the SH entrance so neighbours have something to tap.
I just downloaded the newest update but it started up normal… No new tasks or new stuff added
What device are you on? Sometimes this happens and the switch hasn’t flipped. It’s not on iOS or google.

There’s no Halloween update in the App store yet. Why are people so confused on this issue? I’m sure it will be very obvious when the Halloween update is released. I wish people would stop crying wolf until the wolf actually appears. Can we all agree to this?
No there’s an issue. It’s appear on iOS devices in Europe. NOTHING is happening with the game, but the screen etc changed. It’s prep but looks like iOS pushed it before it was supposed to

What version of iOS are you on? And does it work? Because my iOS device (and Bunny’s as well) isn’t showing anything. And there’s nothing new in the files. Which means it might just be a splash screen change prematurely but nothing is actually live.

To me, these two buildings r the best thing EA has done so far. Having 12 towns with friends and 2 without, it was a nightmare to go through all the characters to send on tasks. Most of my towns, I just left them and didn’t bother. I am loving these 2 new features. My characters don’t get to be lazy bums any more.😀😀😀. Also, collecting money, handshakes and thumbs r couldn’t be easier. U have a big YES from me.
It used to take me over 10 minutes just to put everyone on a task. Now I can actually play every morning and have time to get ready for work! And the radios is great though I admit i didn’t keep in mind whether or not my neighbors had something to tap too haha.
And now that that’s done time for stuff I want despite EA just giving us a ton of stuff! now that we have curved monorails curved road pieces and dirt roads seem like a logical next step as well as some way to save parts of our town and move them around but im sure that’s a programming nightmare. And it’d be great if we had more dual tasks and animations for old characters, he’ll I wouldn’t mind buying them if we had to. But seriously I’m really happy about he new features thus far, let’s keep it going into Halloween!

I just wish the Unemployment Office sent more than around 38 people on 24 hr tasks! I’d love both if not for the fact it only saves me 5 min or less. . . .

I find it weird that there are some people out there ANGRY about these features, because even if they’re flawed, they’re better than the way the game was before them…so I can’t send EVERYONE on a task, at least I only have to send 5-10 people out by hand!!
anyone else loose Greta this morning? she was on 2 of my devices last night and is missing this morning… trying to contact EA but the online chat has been saying approximate wait time 5 minutes for the last hour.

Is it gone from your store or from your town? If it’s missing from the store as the Oktoberfest deal, it’s because that’s over. Ended this morning. If it’s missing from your town, do you have Monorail tracks in the water? If you do remove them that causes characters/buildings to disappear. Beyond that check your inventory and if you still don’t see it contacting EA is the best route.
well they are claiming its a known issue but are refusing to restore it GRRRR. bad ea Bad smack you with the newspaper GRRR

I am hoping they will restore it for me eventually I did buy it at the last minute. no tracks in water in my town I only have a small river and its not near any tracks. not in inventory either. *vent* *sigh* relay annoyed with this I put $10 into scratch tickets to get her.*/end vent*
I like them. For me using the employment office has made me play more and send my characters on shorter tasks for it got extremely repetitive. So I think in the long run I am making more currency this way, for I was sending them out on 8 hour tasks and now I send the the majority out on 1 hour tasks and spend less time in the game too.
Because the IRS building has such an impact on the game I do wish you could select the level of the pickup radius, for I haven’t had a lot of time to make a spacious Springfield so I keep resetting my buildings.
They’re both great additions, but personally I wish there was an option on IRS to simply collect ALL buildings and completed tasks in just one tap. My assumption is that the coding nerds at EA (let’s call them Team Discovery Channel) have warned that it would most likely crash the game on a lot of devices.
Final thought – do we all think that the IRS “super-tap” will also work for collecting whatever it is that neighbours will do to our buildings during the imminent THOH event? I personally HATED clearing garbage from my town during the Monorail event. It took several taps to actually hit it on most buildings, and quite frankly I didn’t care about the solitary blueprint it rewarded when I was already ahead on the prize track; it was just a pain in the asphalt! 🙂

You may as well let someone else do your town then.
My only gripe with the IRS building is a lack of control for leaving things for neighbors to tap. I’m keeping it at level 2 to keep the field small, but if I tap to collect on a character’s task, it also taps buildings nearby. However, the convenience does make up for that 🙂
An option is to store it when you need pin point tapping. I kept a batch of brown houses near my SH entrance to ensure there was always something to tap on.
Paying virtual money to get virtual money is of no consequence or extra real dough out of my pocket….
Unemployment office all the way…. The few seconds it takes to send all 100+ characters on tasks. WORTH IT !!!!
I usually keep fat Toni in the hot tub and characters like Lisa and homer on separate tasks as they can’t be stored and tasks cancelled. So after I put them on their tasks or BEFORE I clear their thumbs over their heads. I send all others on a one time tap task … Woohoo !!! As a long time “from day 1” player of TSTO these two options were very very long over due. And actually I like the way EA made us work for the level collecting 🙂
If they fix the Android “Can’t send all characters on a job of that duration” bug I’d move from “IRS over Unemployment” to “Love Both”.
Though if it’s only an android issue I might start packing my iPad and hauling it out every 4 hours to turn over my Springfielders.
I love the ability to get In and out of the game quickly . Not making as much $$$$ though.

Same here. I don’t always use it but if I have a block of a few hours where I can log in hourly I’ll take advantage of it. Or like right now I don’t want to send anyone on long tasks in case something hits so nice and easy way to keep everyone busy on hour tasks.
This is me too! I used to collect twice a day [morning / night] but now I check in a bunch of times over the course of the day, since it doesn’t take me like 20 min to tap everyone out on tasks…
This is pretty much my biggest disappointment with them. I’m not making enough to take the huge cut from the unemployment office. That and what I really wanted was a one click option to finish all jobs – my town’s big enough I’m having a hard time finding all the thumbs. It’s easy to send them all on jobs cause of the face icons, finding everyone when they’re done is the challenge.
If you clear all the thumbs you can find, then send all those characters on jobs, then go back into the UE office, it’ll sometimes show that you can “complete task” for the leftover characters. Usually works when you finish/send on different time interval tasks, i.e. finished 1hr and sending on 4hr.
On iOS anyway.
