Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Back with another edition of Addicts Question Corner, this time addressing your Act 3 concerns.
This post is based around the most common questions we’re seeing asked in the comments. And it’s designed to help you understand the event a little bit better..or at the very least make you feel like you’re not going crazy with an issue you’re having. So…if you’re stuck somewhere, seeing something strange or just not sure what’s going on read this post first. If you don’t see the help then ask your question. I’m going to try and address every major question we’re seeing in this one post. So hopefully this will help those that are still stuck/confused out.
Let’s get to it…
First let me start by saying…we’ve got two other Question Corner posts written for Act One and another one for Act Two. So if you don’t see your problem addressed here, check those posts out first…there’s a good chance it was covered there. They can be found here, here and here.
Now let’s start with the number one question we’ve been seeing in the comments for the last day….
Nightmares Aren’t Spawning In my Town…My Game Is Broken! AHHHHHH!
First…STOP FREAKING OUT. Please. It’s a game and seriously not worth you freaking out over this. Second, your game is NOT broken. Once Act 3 starts Nightmares will no longer spawn on their own in your town. What this means is…no matter what level you’re on at the Campfire nightmares will not just spawn in your town.
Your first task in act 3 is The Sandwich Horror, where you have to send 5 adults to the Simpson House (these 5 adults can only be Homer, Marge, Grampa, Kirk and Luann…so if you’re missing any of those you’ll have to send them twice). Once you complete The Sandwich Horror you’ll completely lose the ability to send kids to the campfire for Roasting S’mores and/or Telling Spooky Stories.
BEFORE completing The Sandwich Horror you will be able to send kids to the campfire, as you have been doing for the whole event. If you clear the kids task BEFORE clearing the adult task to complete The Sandwich Horror, you will spawn nightmares from the campfire.
Now some of you are confused on what this means. It does not mean nightmares will randomly spawn from the campfire. It means when (and only when) you clear the task for the kids at the campfire (i.e. tap the thumbs up) you’ll see the nightmares appear, the ones you earn for completing the task. But remember…once you complete The Sandwich Horror, by sending those 5 adults all tasks at the campfire to spawn nightmares will stop.
So If They’ll Still Spawn As Long as I Don’t Complete The Sandwich Horror, Should I just Ignore the Questline All Together?
No. Do not ignore the questline. First, if you ignore the questline you’ll lose out on LOADS of chances to earn Candy Apples. Second, by running through the questline you’ll unlock another way to spawn nightmares from kids tasks. So don’t skip it. Continue to play the questline as you normally would.
Well If I Can’t Earn Nightmares How Am I Supposed to Earn Candy Apples?
By completing the questline and playing Act 3 as you should. There are loads of ways to earn Candy Apples in Act 3….and different ways than before. (which is great because a lot of you were complaining about how boring the update was…at least there’s something different to do now) Here are the ways you can earn more Candy Apples in Act 3:
You’ll earn Candy Apples once again by tapping on the nightmares in Springfield. So Zombies, Snakes, Bunnies and Skeletons, will all yield them. 1 per squish. You will be able to Spawn MORE once you go through the questline via the Have Kids Hunt Nightmares Task. So just be patient they’ll come back.
You can also earn them once again via the Daily Play Combo…where you earn bonus Candy Apples each day just for logging into your game.
You’ll earn Candy Apples each time you complete a part of the main questline (this time it’s The Blameless City).
Candy Apples can be earned by defeating the M’nthster, there are various ways to do this…you can defeat him in the sky, at the campfire and at the sunken temple.
You should have no problem earning all the prizes before Act 3 ends…..
My Town (and Even Neighbor’s towns) Keeps Saying It’s Full of Nightmares, But It’s Not. What’s Going On? WHERE ARE MY NIGHTMARES?!
Relax. It’s a bug. It’s been happening since the event started, you just didn’t notice because your town almost always had nightmares in it. The alert means nothing. It’s annoying as anything, but just ignore it as best you can. You can try contacting EA but at this point they won’t do anything about it. It’s not impacting the game itself, it’s just annoying.
Can I Still Upgrade the Campfire to Earn the Hedges and other Prizes?
Yes. Even though the campfire won’t work for spawning, you’ll still be able to upgrade via the Hunt Nightmares task at the Brown House. So by tapping those nightmares that spawn there they’ll count towards upgrades. It’ll be harder, but you can still upgrade.
How Do I Hunt Nightmares? When Does it Appear?
Hunting Nightmares is a task that’ll appear for your kids to do at the Brown House via the Something Strange in the Neighborhood quetline (Bart starts this one. You can see when it pops up here). It’s an 8hr task for the kids (Same ones from the Campfire) to do and it’ll spawn nightmares for you. Each kid will spawn a DIFFERENT nightmare. So the days of selecting all the kids to spawn 1 nightmare are over. Here’s who spawns what and how many:
Skeletons: Bart, Database, Gino, Sherri and Terri & Laura. 2 for freemium 4 for premium 8 for Sherri and Terri
Bunnies: Milhouse, Ralph, Rod, Todd, Shawna, Jessica and Uter. 2 for Freemium 4 for Premium
Zombies: Martin, Michael, Kearney, Greta, Jimbo and Squeaky Voiced Teen. 2 for Fremium 4 for Premium
Snakes: Lisa, Hugo, Nelson, Dolph and Janey. 2 for Freemium 4 for premium
Attacking the M’nthster
So once you’ve completed the main questline, one of the primary ways to earn Candy Apples is by continuing the attack the M’nthster. After you complete the main questline he’ll hang out at the Sunken Temple. You’ll have to wait 12hrs and it’ll spawn there again. After that it’ll jump back to the Campfire…and it’ll continue to jump around. Here’s a breakdown at each part:
At the Sunken Temple- Simply Tap the M’nthster 10 times. If it’s going to reappear at the Sunken Temple it’ll reappear 12hrs later.
At the Campfire- You’ll have to send the kids to Fight. You can ONLY send Bart, Milhouse, Lisa & Martin. No other kids can attack. It’s a 4hr task and if you don’t have premium characters you’ll have to do it more than once. (by premium I mean Saxophone Lisa, Radioactive Milhouse & Wizard Martin) You need to get his “meter” down from 10 to attack. If a kid is in costume (this includes Clockwork Bart) it’ll go down 3 with each attack. If the kid is NOT in a costume it’ll go down 1 or 2. So for Clockwork Bart, Saxophone Lisa, Radioactive Milhouse and Wizard Martin….fighting the M’nthster lowers his health meter by 3 for each. For Bart, Lisa, Milhouse and Martin it’s either 1 or 2 each (we’re getting conflicting answers/results). So if you have no costumes you’ll have to send characters twice…
You have 16hrs to fully defeat the M’nthster at the Campfire or his “health meter” will reset back to full.
Again the M’nthster will jump around from the Sunken Temple to the Campfire and back. Sometimes it’ll appear in the same place twice. So just follow it around and do whichever method you need to do. Completing it will earn you more Candy Apples.
Advantage Glitch Alert!
There’s a glitch being reported by players in the comments with the M’nthster. Unfortunately I cannot get this to work in my town…because the dialogue autostarts. So I don’t know if it’ll work for you, but I figured enough players are reporting it that I should share…
Here’s the details from Paul…
“I found a bug I think. As soon as the M’nthster jumps on the Sunken Temple, do not hit any other characters or storylines, begin tapping the M’nthster on the temple. Since the task of tapping 10 hasn’t been read yet, it allowed me to tap repeatedly for about 10 mins until I completed the Act III five stages. Weird.”
This has also been reported by: Nate, Stuart and JMBLYA.
Again I cannot confirm this. I tried it in my game but it doesn’t work because the dialogue auto starts. So don’t be upset if it doesn’t work for you…it’s possible it might not. Just thought I’d pass it along…
When Does Act 3 End?
The event itself ends on November 17th. (but as we all know you’ll probably get an extra day or so because it’ll require an app store update to remove)
Will You be Doing A ________ Post?
As always, lots of posts are still coming. Just trying to focus on addressing the issues/questions we’re seeing in the comments most often first. Then we’ll jump on more specific posts (like Should I Buys etc). Lots more coming…I promise.
If you’re still confused on any of the Act 3 details I suggest you check out the Act 3 rundown post. It’s got loads of if about the Act 3 basics.
And, I believe, that my friends covers most of the common questions we’re seeing in the comments.
Anything you’re still confused on? Anything you didn’t see ask that you would have asked? This clear things up for you? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

How many candy apples do you get for tapping on M’nthster
Depends on if he is at the Campfire or Tower and how many times you already defeated him, but it is +5 per hit on the Tower the 1st time and +10 the second. And you have to look at the payouts of the kids when he is at the Campfire… or read the posts. 😉
Was the glitch fixed for the kids who were supposed to produce skeletons (but actually didn’t) get fixed yet for the brown house nightmares?
?
i’m having the same problem. no skeletons produce by database & bart from the brown house from the very beginning of act 3. didnt bothered about this till my Daily Play Combo is requesting for 30 squished skeletons, and so is my campfire upgrade. pls help!
Try hard closing and restarting your game…close just need to sync up
what u mean by hard closing? i closed the game from my iphone, remove it from my minimize app, log out & login again. doesnt seemed to work… any other option?
either wait until tomorrow (usually it’ll correct itself the next day) or contact EA.
How many times do I have to defeat ,mnthster or is it unlimited until the end of act 3?
Over n over n over
Tonight, I logged in and saw that I had many star spawn running around my town, but it was time to tap on M’nthster and get him to jump to the campfire. Once I finished tapping him, all the star spawn in my town disappeared. Should I have expected this, or am I experiencing a glitch?
Thanks so much for all the good info on this site. It is absolutely Invaluable.
Did they come back?
I’m having a problem with the send kids to hunt nightmares task. When I hit to try and send them to do it all it does is send me to the brown house, and there’s no way to make the kids do the task. Before it said I was behind and finish part 5 to do the task, and I completed part 5 and still not able to send them. Not sure what’s going on, and I want to get the 20 doughnuts. HELP!!!!!!!
Are you tapping on the one from the task bar itself? If so, don’t. Try just sending them yourself by going to the house.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2015/11/05/thoh-quick-tip-making-the-most-of-the-hunting-nightmares-task/
I have this glitch where all the Springfield kids (the ones that I need to fight the mnthster) are trapped making s’mores…
They were making s’mores when the mnthster came, and even though they are finished now, it won’t let them end the quest.
And you can’t store the campfire to reset it, so what should I do?
Store each kids building it should pull them out. Only Lisa will be stuck.
You can also contact ea
Thanks for posting this, I had NO IDEA about the Brown house and thought the only way to get snakes and stuff was to send/kill the formless things to upgrade, im trying to get the 20 donuts from the shop!
I’m not getting credit for the skeletons that i get from those formless dudes or whatever in my upgrade campfire area, do I’m screwed and can’t update anymore, really crappy
What skeletons from formless creatures? Formless NEVER dropped nightmares. Only crafting items.
Just a quick question. I am wondering if I should just use my crafting resources to buy duplicates in the craft area. I already have everything. Are anymore items going to be added or should I jist usr them up?
Nothing else is planned, unless EA is hiding something
Ok thanks 🙂
So here’s a very annoying bug I’ve encountered twice since Act 3 started. My Springfield jumps back in time and I lose a bunch of progress. Everything else seems fine and the game plays correctly, but I find that every action I completed in my previous session has been negated and I go back to the state my Springfield was in during the previous session.
In the most recent occurrence, I had spent an hour visiting all of my neighbors. When I logged in a few minutes ago, everything I had done was gone and I was back to where I was before that entire session.
I had no connection issues that I know of and no errors were displayed. It was a total waste of time.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Sounds like it’s not saving. I would say contact EA. They have to look into it…
I think I’ve screwed myself.
I didn’t see this post soon enough and started M’nthster sitting on the bonfire. Cleared him there and at the tower. I was loving everything about the Halloween event, especially EA’s generous shopkeepers donuts, but I think I’ve screwed myself out of this weeks donuts. Right now I’ve got to squish 6 more bunnies to complete day 3 of the event. I’ve got the kids in the brown house and in 3h 40m I will break them up and send them into different brown houses just to be save. My question is is this hopeless? Do I have enough time to complete this week at 2 days something hours?
Also, is there a direct addy to ask EA questions? I didn’t watch the clock close enough and missed out on the ghost ship this year. I was wondering if the would/were planning to bring it back of an extra 24 hours before Halloween is over?
You’re not hopeless. You should be ok…
They probably won’t bring it back…but there’s no direct email. You can contact them here
http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/?product=the-simpsons-tapped-out
Thank you so very much for your reply Alissa! 😀
I was so worried after the bunny ears that it would want 50 or more squishes for the last two chests. That was not the case and they were very easy. I stopped stressing after reading your answer.😉
Thanks again for everything you guys do for us! 😍👍😘
My Springfield isn’t giving me the opportunity to hunt for nightmares. I don’t even have any of the star ones roaming around anymore. There’s no chance for me to get the candy apples. On the plus side, this game was taking up waaaaayyyyy too much of my time. On the negative side, I sincerely doubt that I’ll finish Act 3 and that’s frustrating to me after wasting my time on Acts 1 & 2. I tried going to Krustyland and back, no luck. My kids are on some crazy loop of fighting Monster. How many times do I need to send them on four hour stints against him to unlock their ability to Hunt Nightmares in the Brown House?
Should only be once. If it’s stuck there i’d contact EA.
I ended up only sending the bunny kids to the brown house and not letting the other kids do anything which worked. But 2 brown house split is a good idea! Thanks 🙂
So Act 3
-Disables the campfire which was the center activity of the whole event.
-Now you can only spawn nightmares a few at a time every 4 hours from kids in brown houses, which makes it impossible to gain enough of one nightmare to upgrade the campfire. (Do the math..even maxing out nightmare collection will take days or so to accumulate 200). Forget the idea that some of us cannot return EVERY 4 hours to collect the nightmares.
-Keep asking you to upgrade the campfire even though the task is pointless since it no longer spawns nightmares, so there is no point in upgrading.
-When you do spawn nightmares they have ensured that they will spawn in an obscure area of your town, making you search everywhere for the few nightmares you have.
-You’ll also get tons of crafting resources which you can build up and spend on…not much of any interest.
-All the characters which were becoming useful in the event (like the adults) will no longer have any value. They will produce nothing for the special event, but the act 3 menu will still show “jobs available” on the find building menu.
-The smores you collected were wiped out, the gummies were also wiped out, now you need candy apples at a pace that is difficult at best.
I could go on, but I think Act 2 was much better, They gutted the event as a finale.
Well listed. The whole list would be great to read, if you still feel like it.
So, Act 3
– Relieves you of the growing tedium of upgrading the campfire and getting your bazillionth shed or tent
– Gives us some cool new animations, with the m’nthster on the tower, kids battling the m’nthster, etc.
– Frees your adults up to work on earning bonuts for rail yard tasks
– Gives us a fun new skin for homer and the great U.B.O. skin for Burns (for those who didn’t already have that…I did, and have always loved using it, especially when I’m in a bad mood
– Kept the shopkeeper tasks, which has the most generous weekly bonuts payout that I’ve seen
Etc.
If they hadn’t switched things up for Act 3, I’m willing do bet dollars to donuts (or bonuts) that people would have complained that they were bored and tired of doing the same thing and “can’t EA get a little more creative?,” etc.
I’m so glad I’m not an EA developer…if I were, I think I’d never ever read any comment forums, knowing that it would just leave me feeling depressed and frustrated, no matter what I did.
The animations with m*tra are great and the prizes are slightly better this act. Nice to change it up. Acts 1 and 2 were awful. Still the worst Halloween ever but better than it was.
And realistically the kids still spawn nightmares in the Brown houses at the same rate as they did at the campfire in act 2 and fighting m*sterling is about what you would get from adults in act 2 and now my spawns are giving out a generous amount of apples so those complaints are unjustified.
“And realistically the kids still spawn nightmares in the Brown houses at the same rate as they did at the campfire in act 2 ”
No, they don’t, because there’s no automatic apple generation AT ALL like there was in act 2 or 1.
The statement is still true. They did say the KIDS spawn them same rate. Very accurate.
It was the Campfire itself that spawned random ones beyond that, not the kids. So the statement nailed it. 😉
In all 3 acts the kids still made nightmares every 4 hours at the same rate, first two acts it was the campfire now it’s the Brown houses. The only difference there is you have to be careful and collect in batches of 20.
In Act one additional s’mores came through sending the kids to the campfire, on Act two to get gummies it was sending adults (the kids didn’t earn extra gummies at the fire), now in act three it’s fighting M*ther. I’m not doing any math but so far the rate seems completely the same. I’m 37 apples from the U.F.P. so in 4 hours I’ll collect another round of nightmares, my apples from sending the 4 to battle plus another 100 for sinking the tower.
I have done the 4 brown house trick but where do the nightmares spawn? It takes me ages to find them
It will be your ORIGINAL Brown House, the first one you placed in the game (so beware house farmers if you have hundreds). If you are not sure which one that is… watch. You’ll see all the Nightmares spawn out right from it. Then you can isolate it to a specific area of the game to clear them.
Great found it where I put it at the start now moved it next to my other houses it’s just a pity my monster seems to spawn at 12.30 am meaning I miss 7 hours to defeat it
My suggestion is keep it isolated along with sending one kid to a different Brown House by tapping on the house and selecting just a few. This way you dont MAX out the 20 nightmares in the town and lose those extras beyond 20. So essentially…. have the house they spawn from in one area a lil bit away… then up to 4 brown houses scattered not next to each other to avoid tapping both at same time if you have the IRS building active. Then, clear one at a time. Clear the “snake house” then go tap the snakes. Clear the “skeleton” house, then go tap on the skeletons spawning. Roughly 5 houses doing their own thing.
Hope that makes sense. 😉
I only had one brown house before the event. I built 3 more in my heights and no matter what house I tap on they seem to spawn near the last one I placed.
That’s what they’re supposed to do unfortunately. They spawn outside your original one…annoying, but at least they disappear.
Well when it started I only had the one brown house and of course they spawned from there, I had my heights empty aside from the 4 monorail stations and some track. So I built 3 more brown houses out in the middle of nowhere. Now from the additional 3 houses the nightmares are coming from my newest one. Not my original, which is great cause there’s nothing around it and all my nightmares are in plain sight and very easy to tap
Actually, I think another poster (forget who) had it right…they spawn outside of the brown house you first hunted in, not the one you first placed. Mine are spawning in an area that didn’t exist in my town for the first several months I was playing this game (and I never moved my brown houses around). I *wish* they spawned near my “original” brown house… That would be a much more convenient location for tapping!
You didn’t mention spawn rate. A level 41 campfire could potentially yield approx. 500 nightmares/apples a day (playing at nearly once an hour).
The kids producing nightmares/apples is nearly the same except for a potential loss when fighting M’nthster.
So, the exchange is from maybe 500 extra a day, to around 100 extra a day…..
Sandra: “I *wish* they spawned near my “original” brown house…”
If the spawn location is linked to that particular house… have you considered moving the house? (If nobody else has tried this within the next four or five hours, I’ll be happy to report back on whether or not it works… as I just moved mine, shortly after clearing nightmares and re-tasking the kids.)
Oh, don’t get all logical on me now! 😉
Actually, I thought of that for the first time when I was typing that comment before, but I haven’t tried it (and hate to muck around with the “original” part of my town). But I’d be interested to hear of that works for you and maybe I’ll reconsider…
Hmmmm…. Just realized my mind was being even dumber than I thought… I don’t actually have to swap the two brown houses…just temporarily move the one that the nightmares seem to spawn from this a nice open field in my town somewhere! It will leave an ugly little gap in the neighborhood it’s currently in, but it might be worth it for a few days.
So, I’ll await the results of your experiment with even more interest now!
Sandra: Confirmed; the spawn point is indeed directly linked to that brown house, even if you move it. That is to say, you can move the “spawn” brown house anywhere you want it, and that new location becomes the new spawn point for your nightmares.
(I actually kind’a thought that’s what Bunny was trying to convey earlier, in her suggestion to “isolate” that particular house. Never-the-less, confirmation from multiple sources can’t be all bad, right? 😉 )
D’oh! I posted my first response before I saw this one!
Thanks for running this experiment and reporting the results…think maybe I’ll make my life easier and do some temporary “rearranging.” 🙂
Sandra: “Oh, don’t get all logical on me now! …”
Sorry… but I’m a guy — and perhaps even worse, I’m an engineer; that’s just what we do. 😉
Actually, I usually tend more towards the logical side myself, which is why I was slightly embarrassed that I hadn’t thought of that idea myself! Unfortunately, when I tried it, I got some kind of wonky results…do you use Android or iOS?
iPhone 6… I’ve noted that at least one other person with an iPhone 5 describes glitches that I’ve never seen, though. Vewwy corn-foosing.
I think the new kid tasks and m’nthster animations are fun. I would have done away with the upgrading campfire and allowed adults to earn candy apples. Increase the numbers slightly if it would make it too easy. It just seems that we easily produce the “currency” with little to buy and we can’t produce nightmares hardly at all.
I was able to earn the shopkeeper bonus, railyard bonus, and found needing to manage things more fun than ever. Act I and II had me playing a lot. Act III; I’m just checking in again.
What about the weekly 20 donut tasks, wasn’t one of them upgrading the campfire, which is pretty much impossible now?
We won’t know next week’s challenges until they happen. I’d expect that won’t be one of the challenges.
Your nightmares will spawn at a brown house. In fact, they will all spawn at the same brown house regardless of the house the kids are tasked at. Bring your brown houses together and store the IRS building – all of your nightmare searching will be over.
Can we post the names of our towns here to get more neighbor’s?
No here…you can do it in the Add Friends feed
http://tstoaddicts.com/2015/10/07/add-friends-for-halloween-nightmares/
I’m on part 2 of defeating the monster, but almost all of my kids are trapped in the campfire roasting smores. The game won’t let me get them out to be able to fight the monster. Any suggestions?
You’re not supposed to have the kids at the campfire when the m’nthster is loose. That’s why it disables after the first task of the event…
You’re characters are now stuck. You can try to store each building that the kids came from to free them. But it won’t work for Lisa, since she can’t be stored. For her you’ll have to contact EA
The main problem I’ve had is with the wrong nightmares spawning. I tap on several mausoleum and loads of zombies show up. I send every kid to the brown house tasks and no skeletons again. It’s happened throughout all three stages for me, and not just skeletons, rabbit too. It’s ok but it’s taking me ages to upgrade my campfire and sometimes a problem with the daily challenges.
I’ve having the same issue. I get every nightmare to spawn but skeletons, and I’ve been sending Bart, Database, and Sherri & Terri on tasks through the brown house and still no skeletons. Is this a bug???
Contact EA…
11/6/15 OK I’m now at 1804 apples.
I have a couple of premium kids.
still don’t think I’ll get all prizes this time.
How’s everyone else doing.
I’m so sad. I finally got to the part where I can send the kids to the brown house to generate nightmares again but from all four kids all I got were zombies and snakes. I only need ONE more bunny to complete the first shopkeepers task of this round!! Why couldn’t I get the bunnies from milhouse and ralf Ahhhhhhhhh
Try sending the bunny kids to just 1 brown house…and clear that first.
I was having the same issue, I was only getting snakes and zombies when the kids were done their tasks. I moved the bunny kids to another brown house and bunnies are spawning again.
I’ve found that zombies and snakes are released first from the brown house, then after I clear them, I go to work on my train yard for a few minutes, and here come the skeletons and bunnies.
Sorry to say I think it’s a bug/glitch. First, I sent all my kids to one brown house, and when I collected, I only got a total of 20 nightmares (should have been 58 for me). Then I found out on here that there’s a 20-nightmare max. So the next time, I sent the kids to 4 brown houses, one for each type of nightmare. (16 of each for zombies, skeletons, and bunnies, 10 for snakes.) My totals still didn’t add up, and I didn’t get a single skeleton. I thought maybe I wasn’t paying attention and missed something, so I sent them again in the same fashion. Just collected each brown house, one at a time, 15 minutes apart and leaving my town still over the area where they spawn (so if there were randoms anywhere, they’d have time to migrate to that area). The max I received each time was 10 (3 rounds of 10, 1 of 8, which makes no sense). The first round I received zombies from zombie kids, 2nd I received zombies and bunnies from skeleton kids, third I received bunnies from bunny kids, and 4th I received bunnies from snake kids. So not only are the totals off, but like you, the nightmare type is off as well. I’m completely confident in saying there was no error on my part in collecting and tracking (and I never am able to say that, as EA always makes me doubt myself), but I was SO meticulous and organized on this one, I know it’s on EA definitely and not me for a change. In addition, my mausoleum is only spawning zombies (should be skeletons, just info if you don’t have it), and my pet cemetery alternates between zombies on one collection, bunnies the next, then back to zombies… You get the idea. (Oh, should be all bunnies, btw.)
This act is really frustrating, but I think it would be much less so if everything was working as it should. I’m just riding it out and tapping along in hopes that EA gets it all worked out.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I wanted to let you know that it looks like a lot of us are in the same boat.
And now, I’ve got no more than 10 nightmares set to spawn from each house, so we’ll see if that works. I’m a little dubious, as I have already received only 8 nightmares from my last time I had 10 (supposedly) snakes spawning from one house, but I figure it’s worth a try.
Good luck!!
An update on the hunting nightmares strategy: I brought it down to 10 nightmares per house, and I was still short 24 nightmares received.
OK, EA, you wanna play? I’ll play.
***Here’s what I did, and it worked***
First: remember which brown house you tapped your very first Act 3 nightmare from. That area is where the nightmares will spawn. And no, moving the house to another area doesn’t change the spawning location. (Grrrrr…)
Next: Clear a lot of area around that spot. Leave no building, decoration, or tree behind for nightmares to hide. Trust me.
Then: Set up an entire brown house farm in an area adjacent to this cleared area, one for EACH of your kids, including Bart, Lisa, Milhouse, and Martin. Just mentioning those 4 in case they’re off fighting M’nthster and they slip your mind, as they did mine.
Finally: Send EACH kid to their OWN house, one at a time. (Major tip here: when I sent each kid, I changed the brown house skin to display the Christmas lights- this way, if I accidentally tapped the same house twice, I still would know there was already a kid in there without having to scroll allllll the way down through 20 kids to see if one was active, since EA has the active one at the bottom of the list. Christmas lights are a lifesaver.)
This is the only method where I have collected ALL of my nightmares/candy apples since the event started. When you tap, make sure your IRS is stored (reminder!) and tap one house, move slightly over to your original spawning area, collect the nightmares, and only then proceed back to collect the next house. I recommend having the brown house farm close to your empty spawning area to keep the nightmares from having time to get away.
It’s very time consuming to set it up initially, but the collection/reset only takes about 20-30 minutes, which is much better to me than scanning my town with one hand while ripping my hair out with the other.
Tip for those with Sherry and Terry- Send them on task in the last house you collect. I only received 4 skeletons from them and thought, “son of a b****, all that effort and I’m still not getting all from them!” But then upon scanning my town, lo and behold, the final 4 skeletons standing RIGHT next to my campfire in the spot where nightmares used to spawn on campfire tasks. So check there first, but allow 30 sec- 1 min if that campfire area is crowded.
Man, that was long, and I apologize, but if it works for me, it might work for you, too, since a lot of us are having the same problems.
If anybody actually took the time to read through this and tries it, please let us all know, so that we can spread the word in the Addicts community.
And btw, I stumbled upon this little gem because I assumed (incorrectly, apparently) that some of the kids simply weren’t paying out. This was done as a test to find the culprits, but turns out to have fixed the problem, albeit in a real PITA way. 😉
I can’t be bothered to do this, so i guess I’ll just have to accept being shorted nightmares every time. But just wanted to say much respect for taking the time to figure this out!
Let’s try that response again, since apparently my phone edited some stuff in the process…
I totally get it, tapebelt! Thanks 🙂 If I hadn’t been so hell-bent on finding out who wasn’t producing nightmares, I know I wouldn’t take the time to set this up, either. 😉 And no worries, happy to share!
Thanks for explaining why my nightmares keep spawning in the same part of town, regardless of where the brown house I hunted for them is. Oh, and funny thing – I’ve been using the Christmas lights to mark my “hunting” houses, too! 🙂
Great minds, Sandra! 😉
“OK, EA, you wanna play? I’ll play.” I laughed so hard at this! 😆
THANK YOU for this post!😍👍😘
Yes, I did exactly as you suggested and have had success with it. My set up did not take too long because my brown houses were near a semi-clear area to began with. I did have to purchase about 5 more houses but no big deal and well worth it. (Gotta love that 10 second brown house build!) I did move my IRS Building next to my new brown house farm for fear of forgetting to store it before tapping the houses. It’s now in my face, it reminds me and I’m good so far! 😊
“Collection/Reset only takes about 20-30 minutes”… Did you mean to say 20-30 seconds? Because I’m just tap house, squish, tap house, squish, tap house, squish… My biggest concern other than storing the IRS building is one kid per house, I got so used to tapping the fire pit and then turbo tapping all the kids, I have to tell myself “one kid, exit!” while tapping the houses… LOL
Thank you again!😀
Woohoo!! I finally made a useful contribution!! 😀
Thanks, Snipersmurf! I’m really stoked this helped you out! And no, I really did mean 20-30 minutes. I originally had my brown houses just a tiny bit too close together, and playing on an iphone 5 with a pile of brown houses requires laser-like precision… which I definitely don’t have. 😉 I’ve spaced the houses out just a bit, and now I’ve got the tap-squish-reset time down to 3 minutes.
Glad to make you laugh, too!! 😀
“And no, moving the house to another area doesn’t change the spawning location. (Grrrrr…)”
Peculiar that your spawn point did not move, when mine did. What the glitch is up with that?
(I’m on an iPhone 6, but I wouldn’t expect that to make much of a difference, from your iPhone 5.)
I’m curious to know why, too, but I doubt we’ll ever find out. After posting that, I saw several comments about peoples’ spawn points not moving, but yours is the second comment I’ve seen about them changing location. I think, like a lot of bugs and glitches during this event, it may be on a case by case basis.
During the tap ball event, I wasn’t receiving the currency (tickets? Can’t remember what they were called) after the first game of every day, so I’d also not be able to receive the bonus tickets. I talked to EA a couple of times, and the last time they said they were aware of the glitch, but since it was only happening to about 1% of players, they weren’t going to fix it. I think that may be the case during this event. So many bugs and glitches, they can’t possibly fix them all, so they’ve got to prioritize the most important or most widespread ones. Understandable. 🙂
I do wonder which group is in the majority, though, just out of curiosity. It’s hard to tell from the comments, as more people are likely to say when something’s not working as opposed to when it is. 🙂
Is anyone else having a problem with the app crashing when visiting the neighbors? I visit one, maybe two neighbors before the app (on my Kindle Fire) kicks me out. When I restart and try again, I often can’t even get through one neighbor before it kicks me out again, so I generally just give up and leave it alone. I feel bad for not getting to my neighbors, but it’s not worth the frustration… or four hours or so it would take to get through everyone, factoring in the multiple crashes and restarts. It’s only started happening since this new third act of the Halloween quest.
Excellent, thanks for this… I’ve been worried and wondering
Any thoughts if there are going to be any more items/characters (new or returning) hitting the store before this event ends.
There will be
my “something strange in the neighborhood” questline cannot be completed… anyone else had this glitch? when i go to send a kid on the mission it doesnt actually link to start a mission for any of them. does this mean the game is broken for me? 🙁
Hmm, I´ve had all 4 kids attack M´nthster at the campfire and after they were done, it took him down just 2x. Is it normal, that the kids (no premium) can result in 0 hitpoints?
It’s surprising. I know it’s random but 0 shouldn’t happen. See what happens if you try again. If it continues i’d contact EA
I have the same problem, I tried a second time and got the same results.
Same thing here. Monster had 2 left, I sent both Bart and Lisa and 4 hours later Monster had 1 left. So one of the kids got a zero. Bart so far has never resulted in a reduction of 3. He’s wearing his Clockwork Bart costume.
It’s glitches – inconsistencies – like this that have plagued this event. (Campfire payouts for me were inconsistent from one 4-hour stint to the next for the same currency with the same kids.) I’m just barely going to defeat monster before it resets because I thought I’d sent plenty of kids. So to be sure it’s send all 4 every time.
Hearing that other people lucked out on a glitch that whisked them through the entire battle Monster part of Act 3 while you’re on the other side of a glitch that is slowing you down – it adds to the frustration with the event overall. When other parts have been fun and diverting.
Well stated last paragraph of yours. That’s how I feel. Thanks for putting my frustration into words. 😲
Has anyone noticed that it’s taken more than 12 hours for the Sunken Temple counter to complete? I knew I’d started the task before work this morning so was surprised when I realised it wouldn’t complete until after 9. Then it was due to finish even later – it’s slipped from being due to complete at 9:20 to 9:30. So I watched the counter for a bit and every so often it stutters, it will go 19s – 18s – 19s – 18s – 17s…
Not worried about it particularly as overall I think the prizes are achievable but it’s not something I’ve noticed happening before.
The “Monster” is very similar to the Radioactive Man Statue.
But we didn’t had to build a new building, it just appeared.
And the arm swinging is highly reminds me to the RMS attack phase, (BTW I didn’t actually saw Radioactive Girders at that Act) and the “fight” is also reminds to Superheroes Event.
(side note: I got a shiny new device with bigger display and better internals – awesomeness :-))
And of course, you can send non-THOH, but skinned kids e.g Sidekick Milhouse. (BTW it gets Premium payout)
Ive had that happen as well…been waiting about 14 hours now for the mission to restart…..just saw the time jump from 35 mins to 54….kind of frustrating
After the m’thnster left all of its spawnlings, I can’t use the campfire for anything. It just sits empty despite quests.
Yea the Campfire is useless for Act 3 except when the M’nthster is on it
Anyone else not having the formless terrors spring up in their towns? It’ll say a friend or too helped but I haven’t seen one in over a week.
I’m still getting plenty of them every day. Maybe try an uninstall/reinstall (as long as you have an EA account!)?
Not sure if my original reply was lost so…Try going to your neighbour screen or Krustyland and back to your town to synchronize your game. The star spawns should then show up (squiddy things with brown heads) both my A and B games needed this before star spawns showed up.
My game keeps crashing when I try to skip from one neighbors Springfield to the next. any one else having this problem?
Also, I have crafted all of the prizes I want, so all I really care about at this point is apples. Why do I need to worry about squishing star spawn? Am I right?
Ha! Ha! (my inside Nelson laugh).
I like your typo: ” continuing the attach the M’nthster”. Can I attach M’nthster to my Monorail?
I’m about to pull my hair out over neighbor visits… every time I try to go to a neighbor’s Springfield my game crashes… I’ve uninstalled and been to Krustyland… is there anything else you can suggest? I’m overloaded on formless terrors and would love to help my neighbors and myself. Thanks!! 🙂
