The Treehouse of Horror Halloween Event Act Three has been launched. You know what that means? Bunny gets to pull patches of fur out for every “WHERE’S THE CALENDAR??!!” comments. Needless to say, I’m bald now. Thanks a lot! I blame BigPhil! He PROMISED he would do the Calendar. Psssh. See if I ever believe he’s a Nubian Prince that just needs my account info again. 😛
Now I know some of you are stressing on just HOW you are going to get all these New Act Three Personal Prizes. Before you all go throw rocks at my only Basement Window…IT’S CALENDAR TIME!!
ACT THREE WILL END NOVEMBER 17th, 2015
EVENT CALENDAR STARTING NOVEMBER 5th/DAY 2 OF ACT 3
As per usual, I will be starting the Calendar one day AFTER Act Three releases so you can factor in time you will need to send Characters on tasks, get Buildings, and fully launch the New Event. I will also be stopping it the night BEFORE Act Three and the Event ends, as it will give you enough time to focus on all the other last minute stuff.
Again, do not panic. Remember that it is slow going at first so you may “appear” to be behind, but as you progress in Act Three you will start to see that you are getting more and more and more each day. So just go at a pace that fits you, but remember the more you play the more you will get.
Now you have a basic daily breakdown for 12 days based off of approximately 773 
Candy Apples a day.
CARAMEL CANDY APPLE COUNT CLARIFICATION
Exact same as last Phase, you will see TWO totals of the Candy Apples in your game as you play through the Event. The Main one in your game at the lower Left side will be your TOTAL amount earned to date.
If you go into the Event Menu (Trophy Icon) and look at the Prizes, you will see ONLY the amount needed for the current item you are working to get. Here are those individual totals.

I’ve been just KILLIN it this Halloween! Quickly got my campfire to 41…. left it on brains and visiting all my neighbors, and was looking forward to spend all those resources that weren’t brains on something cool. Totally disappointed with act 3. I like Apu’s Jeep, but other than that there isn’t a single new item I am interested in. So still concentrating on brains for walls, but now my 1 minute 56 second spawn rate is totally and utterly useless… and I am back to some crazy dumb new system… that was confusing to figure out as well. My event-neighbor rating just buried all my neighbors (and I have great neighbors!). Said that because I am proud of myself, not because I want to brag about being “better” or some stupid thing. Since act 3… I have barely even turned the game on. buuummmmer 🙁
The monsters tower is pretty sweet though.
Anyone else delay completing “The Sandwich Horror” to continue grinding Zombies from the Campfire? We usually earn more than enough currency to complete the event in advance, but Candy Apples seem scarce this act.
It’s not worth it…you’ll earn more candy apples by completing the questline. You’re much better off unlocking the ability to defeat the M’nthster and sending the kids to hunt nightmares. Especially since now that hunt nightmare task is 4hrs
I almost wish I had done this. Not because I’m worried about unlocking the prizes, but because I miss being able to generate hundreds of brains a day. Especially now that I need some of those biohazard towers for my prison, I’m wishing I could still make all the kids generate zombies all the time.
(My bunny house did somehow glitch to zombies a couple hours ago, which was nice. Hope that keeps happening, since I need brains way more than rabbit ears.)
I’m with you! I have bookoo rabbit ears and bones (over 5000 each) but relatively no brains and snake eggs because I had been crafting the walls to boost money and xp. I think is sucks the game keeps bloating my rabbit ears and bones with the new monsters, and they have gotten very stingy with brains and eggs. I wish I could keep making 2 to 3 wailing walls a day! Thanks a lot ea!
Thanks for the quick reply & info. I’m aware this strategy will result in accumulating way less Candy Apples, but the goal was to get as many Spooky Walls while still possible. I agree, doesn’t seem worth it. Just wondering if anyone else was taking this risk, & if so for how long.

Maybe what you’re noticing is that there are fewer items that generate candy apples (compared to those that generated gummies), so it seems that they have disappeared. In Act 3, you get a bunch of candy apples up front by completing the quest lines. After that, you only get candy apples (1) by battling M’nthster, but that only happens once every 12 hours; (2) by tapping nightmares, but those only spawn once every 4 hours if you send your kids on the nightmare hunting task in the brown house; (3) from the daily bonus; and (4) from the nightmares that spawn from the Gate to Nowhere, once a day. I swear I got one or two from tapping the Star Spawn–but that’s definitely not a given. I hope EA gives us a few more ways to get them, because that doesn’t add up to Bunny’s 773 a day for me!

My kids aren’t spawning any nightmares from the 4 hour jobs in the brown house. That means no apples. Then I noticed that random tapping on an empty road produced an apple. Why are my nightmares invisible?

Oh no, again?? This was happening to me for the last 3 and a half days of Act 2, and I thought the glitch ended with Act 3. If my nightmares are invisible again, that may explain why I can never collect them all from their respective brown houses… I get 3 sets of 10 and 1 of 8 instead of 3 sets of 16 and 1 of 10. Even letting my town sit still for 15 minutes, nada. It didn’t even occur to me they may be invisible again.
Ugh, OK, on to tapping “nothing” in hopes of something… Again…

My only question is that it popped up saying that I could craft brambles, but I don’t see them. Is anyone else having this issue?

The calendar is invaluable – thank you so much. 48 hours after the new act started I finally feel like I might have a handle on how to make it run.
The Act 2 to Act 3 transition I think probably qualifies as one of the rockiest I’ve experienced because doing exactly what you’ve been doing previously in the event turned out to hamper getting started on Act 3. For example, collecting crafting currency was important until I got a look at the Act 3 craftables, which I don’t want.
Collecting candy apples is #1 priority – check! But the Star Spawn thing – not important for me because that’s just more crafting currency. In spite of your excellent posts, it took me almost 2 days to sort that out and stop splitting my resources. I’m back to focusing on the RailYard for my 5 bonuts and ensuring I do the shopkeeper challenge for my 20 bonuts.
(Maybe they will add a few more craftables to surprise us? Something that isn’t a wall that will eat up my largely unspent crafting currency?)
The pace is also slower – essentially an 8 hour event instead of a 4 hour one. That threw me too, the feeling that I wasn’t doing something I should be doing because the previous Acts were both more frenetic.
I wish they would remove the “upgrade campfire” task because it’s now virtually impossible to complete. E.g. I spent 90 minutes yesterday visiting 70 friends to collect 30 bunnies – sheer torture. Who thought having to hunt all over a friend’s town to find out what they were spawning and then leaving without doing anything over and over was fun? And I’m still not even halfway to an upgrade. But it’s hard to ignore a part of the game that has a task related to it.
P.S. The “hunt through your friends for ones with the nightmare you need” at 30-75 seconds per friend was essentially a matter of luck. 10 out of 70 to have a match was really horrible luck. In the end felt just like I was spinning a wheel. Over and over… *cough*
P.P.S. Adding to the confusion – I think I’m not alone! Yesterday the Hunt for Nightmare task was 8 hours. Today they’re 4 hours?

SO glad, because I only have a few kids: the main ones plus Kearney and SVT with Nelson on the way. But with the 8 hour task there is virtually no way I could have gotten them all done. Hoping with the 4 hour task I will be able to!
Remember that the shopkeeper tasks don’t have to finished each day (when I thought that was the case it really sucked). As long as you have them all done by the end of the week (monday?) when it resets, you are golden.
I don’t know how far along you are, but I am at the point where I’m ignoring meaningless tasks all the time. I’m maxed out on levels, and therefore quests, so the game keeps sending recycled quests to me that do nothing but tie up my characters from the tasks that actually have meaning. I wish EA would quit sending those to me, but I’m sure they won’t.
Wish the adults still had currency-earning tasks. I want the re-neducation center, although I don’t care much about the pumpkin or the skin for Homer. (How many giant pumpkins and Homer skins does one town really need?) But anyway, I’m a couple days ahead of the calendar, so here’s hoping I can keep up.
Which is better, Spooky Walls or Spooky houses?
Since people seem to be at something of a loss, I will repeat myself.
Five Spooky Walls cost 1000 eggs and generate a bonus of 0.25% (5 x 0.05%). Two houses cost 1000 eggs and generate 150 dollars every three hours. Five times a day (Six times seems a bit excessive.) multiplied by 150 dollars is a daily income of 750 dollars a day, which is above average as far as I have noticed. But saying that this is the standard average rate for all buildings, in order to earn enough 0.25% bonuses to equal 100% of 150 dollars, you would need 400 houses (4 x 0.25% = 1%, thus 400 x 0.25% = 100%). Only house farms can have that many units. Therefore, income-wise Spooky Houses represent a better income choice. You would need around twice the number of walls (10 units) to equal two houses, i.e. a Springfield containing around 200 buildings. Ten walls would occupy 10 x 2 squares or 20 squares, two houses 8 x 4 x 2 = 64 squares. Thus the walls would occupy less total space, but add 8 additional units towards the maximum number of items possible in Springfield.
Hi I am thinking it is not that simple because the walls add to the cash and the experience points (which lead to bonuts) for character tasks. So and I am just guessing here cause that math would make my head hurt,lol, that makes it a much narrower margin. And that would vary for everyone based on what characters they have,how many premium,freemium etc. So I’m going with build what you’ll be happy to see in your town day in and day out. Just my opion, I totally respect and admire the math you break down to help in your posts. 🙂
Your math may be right but I don’t want a Spooky House farm in my town. So I’m crafting Spooky Walls from my eggs ’cause I’ve 74 stone walls around my Monsarno area that I can switch out, and then I don’t have to worry about keeping a Hallowe’en area year-round. Also, if I redecorate, the walls are much more versatile.
Exactly right… walls are far superior to spooky houses. I have 2 spooky houses (1 from last year, 1 from being forced to make a 2nd this year) and that’s more than enough! Walls can easily be incorporated into your design, or hidden behind objects. Spooky houses are big, ugly, and generate less cash than my house-farm. Unless you have a particularly great idea for a ‘Spooky House Town’, then forget about them…
Not a fan of part 3. I need 198 nightmares to finish the campfire quest for the Shopkeepers challenge, but I only get 10 nightmares every eight hours. Do the math. It’s now impossible shy of spending donuts.
Earning apples now appears to be slow and tedious. Apples every eight hours, I don’t even see how 9000 is possible.
Yawn…only another 8 hrs till there’s something else to do : /

I like the Holiday Homer a little, except for the dumb ugly american flag on the back of him, not sure what that’s about. I don’t see how a dumb US flag has to do with holidays of any kind. Umm…well first of all. Please don’t call the American Flag dumb, especially on a site run by Americans and one of them who’s a Military Vet. It’s completely disrespectful and offensive to Americans. So please don’t do that again.
Second of all…4th of July. That’s what it’s about, that’s a fairly big holiday in America.
There’s also a holiday in the US called Flag Day that has everything to do with the flag.

And Memorial Day and Veterns Day also have very strong ties with our flag. We Americans are very proud of our flag. You can see this in the words to our national anthem.

I agree that the comment on the flag was extremely disrespectful. Regardless of the message, the delivery should always be respectful.
That said, Homer’s behaviour is also disrespectful. The flag should not be wrapped around his backside and it is in danger of touching the ground.
I also agree that separating the flag from characters is preferable. While Springfield is set in the US and reflects US culture, I think each player everywhere in the world still sees their Springfield as being in some way in their country. Having no flags assists this ‘perception’, while seeing it everywhere clashes with it. To put it another way, seeing the US flag over the US embassy does not jar; seeing a bunch of people waving it all over your high street does, esp. on a daily basis. It is perhaps this message that the Vgulp was trying to say.

Try putting it on boardwalk tiles first, then delete the tiles. Worked for me right after I got the tower, but don’t know if it still works. 🙂

I am not from US but I was taken aback by the comment calling a flag dumb. From where I am from, there are rules set about the display of flags as the symbolism is sacred. Once the national swim team has the flags displayed on the swimming trunks. Protest arosed and they quickly changed the design.
Why in the WORLD would they raise the price of the kids costumes? I was considering getting saxophone Lisa since I don’t have a premium skin for Lisa at this point, but I didn’t have 60 donuts yet. And now they’re all 75? That makes no sense…they were barely worth the 60, definitely not worth 75.
Hm, I have tons of kids but with an 8 hour task it doesn’t seem doable right now. Maybe it will in a few days? I don’t see how it will!
I am digging Act 3. I like a bit of a challenge, and I like the Halloween theme continuing through November. This one is just a lot of fun; only caveat is I am getting a little burnt on tapping nightmares. Glad to have a bit of a break from that

I love you guys and read all you post but starting to feel like EA has jumped the shark with this event. I am a Loyal player and check multiple times a day and liked the other acts of this event but frustrated with this one. How can you go from having an act where you get 25k gummies to another act where you get only earn 20 nightmares every eight hours unless you stagger the collection times and the star aliens make no sense. We get the same currency from the faceless terrors. This act seems counter productive. Maybe it’s this cold i have but definitely not feeling the love from EA.

I’m going to be the “nice commenter.” I’m enjoying this event. Yes, act 3 may seem tougher than the previous 2 ( I’m one of those players that breezed through both), and the calendar may be intimidating…but we’re just getting into day 2 of the final act. People need to chill.
As for the wailing wall “exploit,” I guess people are upset they won’t be as easy to get because they can’t set the campfire to spawn zombies? You’ll still get crafting items through the star spawn, formless terrors and nightmares spawned at the brown house. So again…chill 🙂
Personally, I don’t have anywhere else to stick the walls, and my bonus is up to 205%. I’ll probably wait to see how many brains I have near the end and use them to store some more walls.
We still have, what, 12 days? All is good, people. And if you find you got all prizes, take the free time to catch up on non-event tasks or maybe rearrange your town.

Also (I just noticed this) The spooky wall gives 0.05% bonus money/XP for 200 snake eggs. Good for improving your bonus stat if you’ve already burned through your stash of Zombie Brains.

Agree. How do we get over 700 a day? Hunting in brown house, maybe 100 a day, 3x 8hr missions. Mnthster tapping 200 per day, bonus averages 150 a day. So that’s 450. Where are the rest coming from?
I’ve got over 1,000 for a day. Do act3 request and you will be able to get enough of candy apples.
I reached that total as well, but that was after completing the quest lines. That’s not an option going forward, so I have to agree with Sylver here, in that if the star spawn don’t drop candy apples, it’s going to be close.
I’m not seeing a way to get it either. I’m ahead from doing the quest line, but that won’t last long. With gummies, you could win all the prizes without much effort–and with a little more effort (sending the adults on their special, pixelated Halloween tasks), you could get all the prizes way before the end of Act 2. I’m not seeing any ways to get candy (caramel, really) apples other than the ways Sylver outlined above. Sometimes EA changes amounts in the middle of an act (Tap Ball comes to mind), so let’s hope they realize their mistake.
Can I add another, off-topic, rant? I’ve only gotten two formless terrors all day. You used to get them from tapping on nightmares, but the StarSpawns not only don’t drop candy apples; they also don’t seem to drop formless terrors. They’re my favorite way of “communicating” with my neighboreenos–as if by visiting their towns and dropping formless terrors, I’m saying “I like you enough to spend completely meaningless currency on you,” lol. 🙁
Well, good news. In reviewing the comments on one of the other threads (and there might be some on this thread as well), I find that EA dropped the time for kids’ tasks to four hours. That will still make it hard to get the 700 candy apples a day, but easier than it was. 🙂

You CAN make Bunnies ……
1) tap on a brown house,
2)send kids to do a task there,
3) put the kettle on,
4) come back 8 hours later,
5) enjoy the Bunnies that some of your kids have made !

It was easy in Act 2 to snag a lot of Gummies, but it seems next to impossible to get many Candy Apples. EA got too easy in Act 2, too hard in Act 3? Just my first impressions.

When you first get the task of tapping monster after the adults gather you’ll earn something like 500 candy apples and you’ll be able to get the kids to go out and make nightmares to tap.

At first with the questline it goes fast to collect candy apples. I’m ahead already of the calander. But since these star spawns don’t give you candy apples, I’m afraid it will be quite difficult to collect enough. We also have a couple of days less than act 2.

What is bonfire night? (I mean, I assume it has something to do with having a bonfire at night, but I’m guessing there’s a bit more to it…)
Oh Sandra, we’re celebrating the failure of the “gunpowder plot” which was a bunch of Catholics led by “Guy Fawkes” trying to blow up the houses of parliament (with 2 tons of gunpowder in the cellar) on a day when “King James I” was there (In 1605 I think) they wanted a catholic monarch …..so we have bonfire/fireworks/Guy Fawkes night and the fire is to burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes (symbolic of burning Catholics) in the days leading up to the 5th November children may be seen carting around their effigy saying “penny for the Guy” collecting money for their effort making the Guy Fawkes effigy, and that’s the origin of your American word “guys” meaning people.

…Rangers (protestant) & Celtic (catholic) …. and still divisions, same as in Northern Ireland, they still have regular terrorism but it’s hushed up

If you google “Guy Fawkes” or “The Gunpowder Plot” it will explain what we are celebrating . Long story short , we celebrate King James I of England ( also King James VI of Scotland ) not being killed in the gunpowder plot . We have big bonfires were it is traditional to burn an effigy of Guy ( also known as Guido) Fawkes , these are known as Guys.
Fawkes was caught under the house of Lords with barrels of gunpowder, waiting to explode them when King James ( a Protestant ) arrived . Guy Fawkes was not the ringleader , that was Robert Catesby . The whole plot was basically by Catesby and his Catholic group to overthrow the Protestant regime of James and replace it with a Catholic one .
Fireworks are also let off . I doubt whether it is as well known about Fawkes these days , but it has lasted since the 1600’s to today .
If you look at the open thread I posted a little tale that alludes to the fate of Fawkes after his capture .
Never a dull moment in our religious history over here , eh ?
BTW , I love history , especially the Tudors onwards , endlessly fascinating , plots , murder , torture , regicide , religious friction , and that’s just over here in Britain , never mind the rest of the world , 🙂

I’m a fan of the Tudors, too….Elizabeth I is one of my two favorite people from history (the other is Ben Franklin). I’m pretty familiar with her history and her dad’s, but I’m finding that there’s very little around about Henry VII, that’s not dry reading. (Not sure why there’s such an absence of movies/tv shows about him, for example.)

Then I remembered, there’s a large event near my house, and I can hear the fairground….but I haven’t heard it the past couple of years,……
That’s because we moved house ten years ago, so maybe I am more stupid than I appear

Henry VII ended the ” wars of the roses” between the houses of York and Lancaster by defeating Richard III at the battle of Bosworth and founding the Tudor dynasty . His claim to the throne was tenous and Richard III’s was thought to be stronger . Richard III’s body was recently discovered under a car park in the city of Leicester . It was DNA matched to a living descendant and given a state funeral at Leicester Cathedral as befits a man many think was the rightful king . The whole history of Britain could have been totally different had Richard won . No Tudor dynasty , no church of England and possibly none of the religious persecution that came with it .

Yeah, I know the highlights, but I’d love to see some kind off movie or miniseries or series like they’ve done a gazillion times for his son and granddaughter. Maybe he was a less interesting character (for “interesting,” it would be hard to surpass HVIII, although I personally prefer E1’s story), so maybe a series would be took much, but surely they could do some kind of interesting 2-hour movie or something?

web page I gave you to a programme discussing him and one on the battle of Bosworth . Haven’t watched , but they sound as though they have quite good contents . Perhaps you could give that a try . I think if they want to do a programme on the Tudors , they are drawn to Henry VIII and his children because there is so much scope and depth for content . Shame really , just because his son changed wives like I change clothes and his granddaughter was allegedly a virgin as Queen , he gets overlooked . He certainly revolutionised how the counrty was governed .

Am I the only one who is only spawning creatures from their campfire? Last night and again this morning, the only opportunity I’ve had to collect candy apples is buy clicking on the monsters my campfire profuse every 4 hours (and from a couple of items around town that spawn too)…. Where are all the other bunnies, zombies, snakes, and skeletons that are supposed to spawn on their own??
