Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So…here is your Open Thread.  There’s a new episode of the Simpsons tonight, what do you think will happen in the new episode?  The Thanksgiving Event wrapped up for us this past week, and we received Springfield Heights round two.  What are your thoughts on the new content?  We also got a little Christmas tease with the new update…and Christmas should hit our games this week.  What do you think Christmas 2015 will include?
How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting?  Get any Christmas/holiday shopping done? (only 19 days until Christmas..)
Sunday Night Football tonight features the Colts at the Steelers.  Something you’ll be checking out?  Did your team play earlier today?  How’d they do?

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  1. Pictures on the flickr page are NOT spoilers, …..wall-e-weasel and the burger van are on the splash screen, if you zoom top left behind the frosty effect (so is victor’s secret) 🙂

  2. Oh yeah, what about the football?

    (soccer y’all ⚽)

Forget what you think about the lifestyle of premiership footballers, earlier in the week, by the football ground, I saw 5 of them squashed in an old banger still in their kit going down Holdenhurst Road to the café ⚽

  3. Yesterday, I was visiting neighbours and landed on a town where I had a different symbol and couldn’t drop a present, and they had cash signs above the buildings so I thought they haven’t started the event yet and there’s nothing to tap here ……

Then realised I’d come back to my own town,………

    🎁 🎄 🙂

  4. I had to post here, the Question THREAD isn’t showing. I asked a question a couple days ago. I didn’t see a reply. I found the answer. As always we are supposed to get 90 actions from 30 neighbors. I am getting 3 actions from 17 neighbors and 2 from the 18th neighbor. Then money and xp from the other 82 neighbors. I didn’t see a post as to it being a glitch. Is anyone having this problem??? What to do???

    • Most people, myself and my sister included are also only receiving 50 Santa hats and 50 baubles from visiting neighbours.

You mention you received 53, the general concensus is between 45 and 60. Haven’t heard from too many people get the full 90 hats and 90 baubles.

    • I think 90 was just an incorrect supposition…I don’t think anyone’s getting 90. From what I’ve seen, most people who’ve counted are reporting getting 50.

  5. And what’s happening over here,
OK nothing new, just checking, ….because this is where the cool kids hang,
like behind the bikesheds, …if I hang out on the periphery of your clique long enough, I might become cool too, or popular…

Who am I kidding, I’ll be happy to be seen near the cool kids 🙂

  6. Shout outs to Sandra 👍 and safizaidi99 (do you have a “friendly name”?) 👍 for helping the team out with repeat question answering. Because, you know, I wasn’t going to do that…

    • Safi is the first name. You can just go with Safi which is what my posts would say before I joined wordpress. Or you can even shorten that to Saf, which I guess is my de facto nickname. (To finish off my user ID, Safi first name, Zaidi last name, and 99 of course in honour of The Great One – Wayne Gretzky.)

And no shout out needed. Alissa, Bunny and Wookie have given us (me especially) so much the past two plus years (exactly two years for me as I’ve been a daily reader/subscriber/commenter since December 2013), that helping out Alissa as she enters this great new chapter of her life is the very least I can do. Wish I could do more to help more often. Love this site, it’s my homepage!

    • Thanks – I figure that, if I can help A/B/W after all the help they’ve given us, I’m happy to do so. 🙂

  7. How do I earn more presents to gift my neighbors?

  8. Maybe I’m pretty slow or having a brain fart but is anyone having problems placing the ornate pier and pier tiles for Springfield Heights Pt. 12? I just can’t place it on the water and get the green go. I’m going to presume that it needs a specific area of water/land so it won’t let me place it within a certain diameter of other items? I usually figure it out but it’s been a day now and still can’t get it to build. Thanks!

    • That is very strange. I’ve placed over a dozen ornate pier sections thus far, with no such issues. I have successfully tried placing them directly adjacent to private islands, adjacent to boats, adjacent to the yacht club, etc.

As long as you have the proper 4×4 area available, you should be able to place them. Clear up a big area of your water and try placing it in there. Maybe you just have too many things scattered around the water such that no “perfect” 4×4 area is available.

    • Clear an area on the beach AND the adjoining ocean. Clear it like crazy until you can place the pier. You put stuff back after you’ve solved your problem. It only can be placed in the Springfield Heights section of beach. Only.

  9. I think I remember reading one or more comments that said that the only second-wave Springfield Heights “building” that has a hidden XP multiplier is the private island (once it’s reached level 2). Has anyone built and placed enough Exclusive Resort buildings to confirm that they do NOT have an XP multiplier? By “enough” I mean that, when I was testing something in the first-wave buildings for someone, I noticed that, when storing those buildings, the decrease in the multiplier was only noticeably after I had stored enough of them to overcome the “rounding” effect on the XP I was getting from the blue houses I was testing it on. So, I’m wondering whether someone had tested it with at least four or five Exclusive Resort buildings yet? I’m considering building a couple more of those, but not if they don’t offer a multiplier, because, otherwise, I might prefer to save the land for those buildings that do.

    • I recommend that you lower your bonus by storing some buildings, right up until you see the change. Then, when you add one building back, even a one percenter, you will see the effect. I don’t recommend using up your resources and effort on them unless you want them anyways.

  10. So I spent 6 doughnuts to get homer to finish his task lat night since I didn’t realize Christmas went live and needed him active to start. Advance to Cletus’ turn to decorate, and instead of spending doughnuts like was necessary for Homer doing a Simpson’s Home task I thought I’d be clever and store his house in inventory to reset his task. Game crashes when trying to place him from inventory. Determined if I used the decorate task Do It button I could get him out of inventory without a crash. Now it’s Milhouse’s turn. Well same thing, but this time his task goes away from the list. I can’t use my ‘Do It’ work around, and the game crashes every time inventory is accessed. Now my progress is stuck….DOH

  12. I noticed that the deluxe condo glitch appears to produce a separate type of building.

I wonder if that means that this is intentional.

I was having a bit of trouble getting the next building to show up in the store. I upgraded my old deluxes, but that did nothing. Then I figured it must only work with this new purchase. I upgraded that, even stored it, and yet still nothing in the store. It finally showed up when I checked another time that I played the game. Maybe it was a case of the glitches battling each other. (The other glitch being the one that forces you to visit a neighbor to fix problems.)

  13. Hello. I’m wondering if my device is going wacky or if it is just this site. The most up to date post I am able to see is from 8:40 this morning in the addicts Sunday random section. I have posted once or twice and I am not able to see it nor does it say it’s being moderated. Anyone having this problem?

  14. I know I’m not the only uber crazy addict out there! Ahead of my major re-design in the new year, I am considering creating an excel blueprint of the game map so I can sketch out a few different options as to how to position various items, especially the monorail. Has anyone counted the size of Springfield in terms of grids/pixels in length and width?

By my estimation, it is 428 grids wide along the ocean on the “western end” and 288 grids long along the “southern end”, parallel to the mountains. Has anyone actually counted and have the actual values for me?

    • Just over an hour of work left before I get to start on the Christmas update!

To simplify my grid numbers, I can summarize my estimations as follows:
      – The ocean can handle 7 boardwalk tiles long by 107 boardwalk tiles wide.
      – Springfield Heights can have 32 pieces of road long along the mountains and 24 pieces of road wide along the shoreline.
      – Springfield proper can have 60 pieces of road long along the mountains and 80 pieces of road wide along the shoreline.

I’ll verify the numbers later myself once I get home and am comfortable started with Christmas. But if anyone has already done it, that would save me plenty of time and I’d really appreciate that.

    • Wait a minute, I thought Springfield Heights settled this whole “directional” thing. Cookie Kwan told us all that Springfield Heights is west Springfield. Therefore, mountain range border = west; water = south.

  15. I’m not sure if its been mentioned before, but what are your thoughts on having a feature in the game where you watch a 30 second ad for a donut or two? “Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff” has this and I gladly take the offer every chance I get.

  16. I’m taking my time with SH. I like the update that allows you to select the building level you want after its fully upgraded! Now that I have about 80 friends I am able to enjoy the game so much more. I was able to colleCT everything for Halloween for the first time. I can’t wait for Christmas! Thanks friends!

  17. Anyone know: if you’ve fully upgraded a building, such as the condo–and tap to switch it to smaller, “downgraded” version–do you still retain your real-estate value for fully upgraded version?

  18. Can’t sleep, so I’m tinkering with my Heights layout. Fixed up the mountain lodge with plenty of trees and the cabin from last(?) winter. Trying to make everything I want fit on and near the beach, and moving the Quimby and Ziff mansions yet again. Might have to ditch my improvised condo of modular parts, but I actually really like it, so I’m trying to conserve it.
Sorry for the random babbling. Tiredness will do that to me.

  19. A weird change has happened in Krustyland, and I couldn’t find any posts here talking about it. Basically, nothing can be placed on the pavements. They became like the street roads in Springfield…It sucks because I already have a whole design where it’s mostly pavement and only the rides are placed in rectangular patches of grass. I think this way is appropriate for an amusement park. The items that are already on the pavement are still there, but if I try to move them I have to put them on grass or it won’t allow me to click the check. I’m just not a fan of this whole situation. Does anyone know if this is permanent?

I just looked at the Tapped Out Wiki and found a comment about it in the Krustyland Expansion article. The user (Locoquito) says it came with the Halloween update and that you can place an object on the grass and then put the pavement on afterwards. If it was gonna be like that, the change was unnecessary… Anyway, I originally intended to complain and ask for help until I found that comment. But if anyone else was bothered by this I hope this can help you.

  20. I’m happy with Springfield Heights. People get frustrated; it’s a game people! These are permanent levels to the game, they aren’t going anywhere. Take your time and have fun!

    • I am happy too with all things Springfield Heights. But I have not taken my time, and instead just completed a relentless marathon of turbo tapping, and I have now completed the complete SH2 updates: characters, building + all upgrades, quests lines and land extensions – yes, it can be done with grind and not a single donut. Woohoo. Bring on Christmas!!!
