Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So…here is your Open Thread.  No new Simpsons tonight…actually there won’t be another new episode until next weekend, Valentine’s Day.  However, we had a little update this past week in our own Springfield’s….what are your thoughts on the new Daily Challenges?  Bonuts?  Did you catch our interview with Todd a TSTO Animator?  Really awesome stuff from an extremely talented designer!

It’s Superbowl Sunday!  How will you be spending the Superbowl?  Have a party planned?  Going to one?  Just hanging out and watching anything but football?  Who do you think will win, the Broncos or the Panthers?

Looking for something fun to do if you’re not into football?  Have you checked out Frinkiac yet?  It’s a fun search engine where you can search Simpsons screencaps.  It’s pretty neat, you should check it out! 🙂

How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting? Ready for the work week to start back up? (I know I’m not!  I’ve been off of work since November 1st…and tomorrow’s my first day back.  I’m not ready!)

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  1. my game shows me logged into EA but when it loads, it starts like I just installed the game. Anybody know how to fix this?

    • uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn’t work try logging in from another device, if you don’t have another device contact EA. Happens to me every so often…annoying but completely fixable 🙂

  2. Wohoo, I managed to do the Sideshow You task 🙂 The glitch isn’t fixed as far as I know, but I found a hard way of doing it. And I only did it because it paid 6 donuts. What I did was that when Sideshow you was ready, I sent all the characters on 8 hour tasks, and went to Krustyland and popped the balloons. It seems that as long as you stay in Krustyland, the task will still count. The downside is that I had to keep the game open in Krustyland and running for the full 8 hours it took for me to be able to do it a second time. If the device goes to sleep/the screen locks then you’re back to square one.

  3. Here is a ‘Feel Good Fix’ for anyone who has had/is having a rough day…. 😄

The attachment below came from a magazine that closed down 20 years ago but I have kept it since 1989 because I think it is brilliant!
(Hope it is big enough to read…)

    Enjoy!

    • Hi All

Decided it was too fuzzy to read properly so I re-typed it to make it easier… I think I have typed it accurately as it appeared!

      The Anals of Human History

This one’s a cop-out: I didn’t write a word of the following editorial. That honour goes in fact, to Richard Lederer, a history master at St Paul’s School in Minneapolis.

I didn’t even have to buy Lederer’s article; it fell into my hands, unbidden and unheralded, by the same route travelled by so much universal humour these days – via the office photostat machine. I don’t even know how it got on my desk. All I know is that it’s hilarious and I’d like to share it with you.

As Lederer writes in a preamble to the piece: “I have pasted together the following ‘history’ of the world from certifiably genuine student howlers collected by teachers throughout the USA. Read carefully and you will learn a lot…”

“The inhabitants of ancient Egypt were called mummies. They lived in the Sarah dessert and they travelled by Camelot. The climate of the Sarah is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere. Certain areas of the dessert are cultivated by irritation.

The Egyptians built the Pyramids in the shape of a triangular cube. The Pyramids are a range of mountains between France and Spain.

The Bible is full of interesting caricatures. In the first book of the Bible – Guinnesses – Adam and Eve were created from an apple tree. One of their sons, Cain, once asked: “Am I my brother’s son?”

Moses led the Hebrews to the Red Sea, where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients. Afterwards, Moses went up Mount Cyanide to get the 10 Commandments.

History calls people Romans because they never stayed in one place for very long. At Roman banquets, the guests wore garlics in their hair. Julius Ceasar extinguished himself on the battlefields of Gaul. The Ides of March murdered him because they thought he was going to be made king.

Then came the Middle Ages. King Alfred conquered the Dames; King Arthur lived in the Age of Shivery. Magna Carta provided that no man should be hanged twice for the same offence.

In midevil times most of the people were alliterate. The greatest writer was Chaucer, who wrote many poems and verses and also wrote literature. Another tale tells of William Tell who shot an arrow through an apple while standing on his son’s head.

The Renaissance was an age in which more individuals felt the value of their human being. Martin Luther was nailed to the church door at Wittenberg for selling papal indulgences. He died a horrible death, being excommunicated by a bull.

It was an age of great inventions and discoveries. Gutenberg invented the Bible. Another important invention was the circulation of blood. Sir Walter Rally invented cigarettes and Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100-foot clipper.

Henry VIII found walking difficult because he had an abbess on his knee. Queen Elizabeth was the “Virgin Queen.” As a queen, she was a success. When Elizabeth exposed herself in front of her troops they all shouted “Hurrah!”. The her navy went out and defeated the Spanish Armadillo.

The greatest writer of the time was William Shakespeare. He never made any money and is famous only because of his plays. He lived at Windsor with his merry wives. In one of Shakespeare’s plays, Hamlet rations out his situation by relieving himself in a long soliloquy. In another play, Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to kill the King by attacking his manhood. Romeo and Juliet were an heroic couplet

The next great author was John Milton. Milton wrote Paradise Lost. Then his wife died and he wrote Paradise Regained.

Christopher Columbus was a great navigator who discovered America while cursing around the Atlantic.

When the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, they saw Indian squabs carrying porpoises on their back. Many of the Indians were killed, which proved very fatal to them.

One of the causes of the War of Independence was because the British put tacks in their tea. Benjamin Franklin invented electricity by rubbing cats backwards. Franklin died in 1790 and is still dead.

Abraham Lincoln became America’s greatest Precedent. Lincoln’s mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands. When Lincoln was President, he wore only a tall silk hat. Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address while travelling from Washington to Gettysburg on the back of an envelope. He also freed the slaves by singing the Emasculation Proclamation.

Unfortunately, the Clue Clux Clan would torcher and lynch the ex-Negroes and other innocent victims. The Clan claimed it represented law and odour.

On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theatre and got shot in his seat. He was killed by an actor in a moving picture show. The believed assinator was John Wilkes Booth, a supposingly insane actor. This ruined Booth’s career.

Meanwhile, in Europe the enlightenment was a reasonable time. Voltaire invented electricity, and gravity was invented by Isaac Walton. It is chiefly noticeable in autumn when the apples are falling off the trees.

Bach was the most famous composer in the world, and so was Handel. Handle was half German, half Italian and half English. Bach died from 1750 to the present. Beethoven was so deaf he wrote loud music. He expired in 1827 and later died because of this.

The French Revolution was accomplished before it happened. The Revolution began when the pheasants stormed the Bagatelle.

During the Napoleonic Wars, the crowned heads of Europe trembled in their shoes. The the Spanish gorillas came down from the hills and nipped at Napoleon’s flanks. Napoleon became ill with bladder problems and was very tense and unrestrained. He wanted a hair to inherit his power, but as Josephine was a baroness, she couldn’t bear children.

The sun never set on the British Umpire because the Empire was in the East and the sun always sets in the West.

Queen Victoria was the longest queen. She sat on the thorn for 63 years. Her death was the final event that ended her reign.

The 19th Century was a time of many great inventions and thoughts. The invention of the steamboat caused a network of rivers to sprint up.

Cyrus McCormick invented the McCormick raper, which did the work of a hundred men. Samuel Morse invented a code for telepathy. Louis Pasture discovered a cure for rabbis. Charles Darwin was a naturist who wrote the Organ Of The Species. Madman Curie discovered radium. Karl Marx became one of the Marx Brothers.

The First World War was caused by the assignation of the Arch-Duck by a surf. It ushered in a new error in the anals of human history…”

  4. Does anyone know if they’ve fixed the sideshow you daily challenge glitch? I got it as a challenge today for a 6 doughnut reward. I haven’t tried it yet. I forgot to check my daily challenge, and I already played sideshow you. So I will have to wait hours before I can try it.

    • I didn’t try it when I got it, i just skipped it. Didn’t want to risk the issue.

      • I don’t know if I’d have the courage to skip a task that had the potential of earning 6 donuts!

Speaking of which, was thrilled that today’s task was to send a bunch of criminals on a 4-hour task to rob the Quik-E-Mart, for which I’ll be getting 6 donuts! Makes all that grinding I do for days at the rail yard seem kind of….whatever the word I’m not thinking of is. But I’ll keep doing that, too, anyway. I’ll take all the free donuts I can get!

        • Well you can still go to Krustyland to pop sideshow you donuts. but the task only rewards 1 donut for completing. And if it gets stuck, 1 donut is not worth the aggravation. (at least not to me…)

          • And now i just looked at my screenshot and realized it was a 6 donut payout. Goes to show how well I pay attention. But meh..still the same thing. Not worth the aggravation to me. I don’t do the Rail Yard anymore either…too annoying for me to grind at. Worth if if you’re freemium…but my time is worth more than the small amount of donuts to me i guess. Especially since I’m spread so thin right now between Riley, my husband, work, this site, and trying to get things done at home…

            • I stopped doing the rail yard a week or two after the monorail event ended. It was one of my least favorite events and with the rail yard, an event that truly would not end. Unless I ended it. So I did. Maybe if I had plans to incorporate the monorail into my town it would be worth it to get the track pieces (and donuts) but at this point, I don’t. Five donuts a week is nice, but I’ll trade them for enjoying the game, without the grind. 🙂

              • Exactly…

              • I generally enjoy the challenge…thought I probably wouldn’t do it if it didn’t have those donuts as a reward.

              • I enjoy challenges, but I don’t look at the rail yard as a challenge. I see it as the game dictating when I play. It’s the same thing with SH. I like the game because (barring any questline) I can choose how (or when) I want to play. If I want to play hourly I can, if I don’t want to check all day I can send everyone on 24hr jobs etc. But that’s just me and what makes this game great is that you (not just you, specifically) can play it however you want.

        • Not quite worthless, but maybe worth less?

          • BTW, I was wrong — it was “only” 3 donuts. I think I conflated it in my mind with the Maggie bonuts I earned this morning.

      • So I ended up dismissing the task. Gulp. It was hard passing up the chance for 6 doughnuts. But I decided to contact EA, and I’m so glad I did. I chatted with Xane at EA. Xane was by far the most helpful chat agent I’ve ever dealt with at EA. Not only did he understand what the problem was, he also compensated me with 20 doughnuts!!!! 🙂 So I was able to dismiss the task and continue on with another challenge, and get 20 doughnuts for my trouble. Wow!

    • I got it today but it was for money. Everyone wanted to complete it for donuts…me, too. So, I skipped it. Supposedly the patches from yesterday fixed the issue.

  5. Any news on when the valentines update will be?

  6. I’m still tired from staying up for Superbowl 🙂

  7. Apologies to ls2634308 for the tag on your town hall – a case of clumsy fat fingers on my part. Feel free to tag me back.

  8. Mandy (amandajane797)

Hi Everybody! Yes I know I’m a bit late but wondering how many other people are affected by the Sideshow You daily challenge not registering. I’ve tried contacting EA – live chat just hangs – but don’t quite know what to do. I’ve completed the two collects but they register then disappear. All very annoying.

On a separate note did you say you were returning to work Alissa? Hope it all went well! I’m due to return to work next week after a year off recovering from a major RTA. Obviously going to have to cut back on the tapping but would like to thank the Addicts (& everyone on the forum) for keeping me informed and entertained. Kept me going at times 😃

    • Same problem with SSY , lost a day of claim prize, but when new challenge appears I was able to switch SSY to different one.

  9. A little off the subject here but I keep seeing a comment here and there about a SH bonus when you leave all the buildings out? How does that bonus work? Do you also need to have all the addition s out as well?

  10. Heads up to all tappers. Like most, I send my characters on 8 hour tasks at night, so I have stuff to collect in the morning. Upon doing so, when I logged in this morning, I cleared what was readily available, and within a couple taps, I got the message daily challenge complete for the day, collect your prize. My daily challenge was in fact, to complete 3 jobs. Worked out for me since the prize was 3 donuts, but there is a chance it could have been money, or coffee, or whatnot that I may have wanted to swap out. So I urge all players, before doing your first tap of the day, check your daily challenges, or you may get a prize you would have rather swap out for something better.

    • Yeah – I did some tapping first thing and then checked the daily task and it said it was completed (I think the task was to collect money or something) and that I had earned 100 or 1,000 dollars. Since I don’t really need the money, instead of tapping the Collect button, I tapped the swap X, which worked just fine, except that my replacement was to craft 20 lattes to get a bonus of 5 lattes (which was extra frustrating, because my latte supply was already full, so I had to go buy something that cost lattes to make room for making more).

So, you don’t actually have to check the daily task first (although it’s probably a good idea to do that), because you can still swap a completed task, as long as you haven’t collected on it yet.

      • Good to know thanks, I assumed once it was completed it was considered done and had to be turned in.

      • If you don’t like ‘Challenge A’ and switch it for ‘Challenge B’ but then if you also don’t like ‘Challenge B’ just don’t complete any challenge that day and wait for a 2nd challenge to unlock the next day. If the new 2nd challenge is for donuts you can then use your switch on the previous day’s ‘Challenge B’, thus effectively switching ‘Challenge A’ twice. Then you can complete both the 2nd day’s challenge and the previous day’s ‘Challenge C’ in the same day to catch yourself back up.

I hope I explained that in a way that makes sense. Hope this helps in the future cause we are all eventually bound to run into this situation. Happy tapping! And may we all only complete challenges that reward donuts!

        • Didn’t quite realize that…thanks! Wishing I had known that this morning…really didn’t need those extra 5 lattes.

          • I figured you didn’t need (or want) those 5 coffees.. I’m glad I could help, for that situation is bound to happen again. I think it is important that we all learn to ‘work’ the system and utilize the fact that we can have 3 challenges stack up (if need be) to strategically use our switches so that all our challenges reward donuts.

And thank you as well, I was not aware that a challenge could be switched after it has been completed but before the reward is claimed. I might need to do that at some point down the road.

      • I couldn’t swap my completed challenge today from yesterday. It was a completed pills one. At least when I swapped today’s I got 3 donuts.

  11. Not sure if anyone else has run into this recently, but I got a task where I had to upgrade my resort and private island to level 5. I jjust upgraded my private island to level 5 and I got a new task to upgrade my private island to level 2. I can’t buy another island. I’m assuming it’s a glitch, but has anyone else run into this?

  12. Good Morning fellow Tappers. Quick question. A few times I have noticed two sets of handshakes on one building. Why does that happen?

    • It means one of your neighbors collected money from that location

    • it happens to me every now and then too. I’m not too sure of the reason. My guess is that..
      1. That there may be 2 neighbours in your town at the same time, and they just happen to tap the same building at the same time. Or…
      2. A neighbour taps a building that generates quickly (Simpsons house, or a brown house for an example) so the timer resets with the money again and another neighbour taps the building too..
Not too sure tho.. But at least it happens to others too. 🙂

    • “Stacked HandShakes” used to be an extremely useful *glitch* quite awhile ago… but no longer. 👿

  13. Ok explain this to me

Had 5/5 righteousness based on a crapload of training walls, and never vandalizing my neighbors… Then suddenly I’m down to 2.5/5 stars… Why? Took another 20 training walls to get back to five :-/ first world problems I guess!

    • Rightousness just does that sometimes…and it will also eventually just go back up on its own. But, once you have enough training walls, that pretty much stops happening entirely. Can’t define what “enough” is (and it also depends on what level you’re at), but, by max level, it’s a fair number of theme (like 30 or more?)

  14. The interview with Todd Favela links aren’t working. Everything ok? Sounded interesting… thanks.

  15. My Hide and seek game with Maggie doesn’t work properly: I find her, but the taps don’t work and time runs out! 🙁
    What can I do?

  16. sorry, I also posted this on the “add me” thread also, but posting here may be best…
I have a great idea for a possible “things we wish we had in the game”
    1. A donut tree (so like the apple tree, lemon tree) etc but with donuts, Even an upgrade feature to the tree (where it gives a surprise free donut every so often when upgraded would be nice) 🙂
    2. An option to send a donut or a gift to a neighbour (like something from our town) I would happy give away some of my lard land donuts (which I kept getting in the mystery box that we used to get weekly) :-/
    Anyone like my idea/s? 🙂

    • I like idea number one. Idea number two would be lovely, but EA would never go for it, because it could significantly cut down on what people would actually buy.

      • I like my idea number one the best too. 🙂
Regarding idea 2, (what you said is true- it probably would cut down on what people buy) unless they do it every so often- like choose one neighbour to send a gift to (even once a month) or if we have to buy donuts to send donuts they still get their money.. OR… it could be like a swap day “swap an item for an item”

    • I like the donut tree.

Sharing actual donuts or items got from donuts creates a leak for donut hackers to “taint” unrelated accounts. This idea would not be good for EA, and us, too.

      • I’m liking the donut tree too 🙂 quite surprised they don’t have one already.. Oh.. That’s a good point, I didn’t think about hackers.. Oh well, I would be happy with just a donut tree 🙂

  17. My stupid rocket ship crashes 80% of the times I launch it, the other 20% of the time it only returns debris. UGH!

    • Sounds like we have the same rocket ship…😉

    • i’d take debris over all these hail ants signs i’m accumulating….

    • Mine’s the same. I’ve got 3 of the hail ants signs and just debris. It’s weird how some people seem to get all the good prices while others get all the crap ones :-/

    • That’s ironic because I keep getting hail Ant signs and actually want some debris! I recently blew up my town and as I was looking for inspiration in my neighbors’ towns I saw several that had used bits of debris in creative ways and wanted to try adding some but had Homer and Lisa clean up everything ages ago and new land expansions don’t have it anymore except the nice decorations in SH .

    • Last night’s launch once again returned debris, this morning’s launch crashed. Maybe one day I’ll get a prize of any kind 😞

  18. Hey! Just a little tip for anyone that has Xfinity (Comcast) and has On Demand. Every Simpsons episode is now free to watch. At least it is for me, not sure if it’s because of some subscription We have because I don’t pay the bills but it should be free for most people!!

  19. Not TSTO related at all but I’m super excited because I just got tickets to see Pearl Jam in Boston at Fenway Park in August!! I’m over the moon! 😀😀😀😀😀

    • Are they still good? Sounds fun either way. Lots of great older songs (if they still play any).

      • Better Man was my favorite of theirs.

        • *lowers head* Not early enough. Not great enough. 😛 I do like it a bit…but still, ugh.

Nearly every song off of their first two albums, ten and vs. Softer stuff like Daughter and harder stuff like Animal. I’m not saying those are the best off those albums but they’re definitely good. I’d have to have a listen again to rank them. 🙂

          • So two albums and they were done? Better than some bands. Ha. I’m not a big fan of Pearl Jam, but they do have some good songs. All off their first three albums.

            • I didn’t say that, lol. I said their entire first two albums were very good. But the third is pretty good too, and after that I only know some of the singles, most of which have good qualities. (I’m being nice now…. I’m definitely not CBG…)

              • You stated a preference for their older songs. I mentioned a song off their third album, which was “not early enough.” Ipso facto anything from after the first two were no good. But maybe Better Man is actually too early, since it was first performed by Eddie Vedder’s pre-Pearl Jam band Bad Radio. That tidbit I’ve learned since yesterday. Learning is fun! But I didn’t mean to put words in your mouth or imply anything. I was just razzing you a bit. 😛

              • Thanks for learning that I’m very right and that it’s not really a Pearl Jam song at all. 😉 😛 😀 A Pearl Jam song requires the members of the band Pearl Jam there in its creation. I’m not much of a fan of musicians going solo. Sometimes it’s awesome, but just because I liked your band doesn’t mean you’re good on your own. Is Steven Tyler good on his own without Aerosmith? I only heard the one song during American Idol, which was not that great. (But neither was a lot of the pop stuff from Aerosmith themselves.)

Anyways, thanks for the razzing. I chuckled as I read you pointing out my “early enough” logic. lol. I guess I’m saying that they only have 2 good albums (as whole units), and that I didn’t really like that particular song too much. I’ve sung it….I’ve had my share of enjoyment from it, but I regret it. 😉

      • Are they still good??? They’re the BEST. They’re still putting out great music and they have a massive catalog, they usually play for 3+ hours and play a huge variety of everything. It’s nearly impossible to get tickets to shows unless you’re in the fan club. Which is how I scored the Fenway ticket. I’ll be traveling from Philly for that one.

        • I heard one of their concerts on the radio once. It was very good. I’ve never been in person. Have the members changed or is that just every other band ever? Well, that concert was very long, it went into the night and Eddie took over the radio when they got offstage and played records from other artists that they liked. I still have it on tape (yes, tape!). I learned about some new artists because of him. 🙂

          • How long ago was that? Because I too have some of the radio takeover on tape! They did that a few times back in the day and called it Monkey Wrench Radio. I still have a small collection of cassettes, most of which are mix tapes. Rarely listen to them because I don’t want them to get eaten and lose them forever.

        • My sister just saw them, said it was a really great show

    • awesomesauce!!!!

    • ♥️ Eddie Vedder ♥️
      INVU!!

  20. I took a couple days away from the game last week due to getting close to burned out, idiot me took them in the middle of the week. Now i have to get 10k blueprints before i go to bed tonight.

  21. In the Apple App Store, the background for TSTO is pink. I don’t remember it being that color when I downloaded the Winter Event Removal update…is it a hint that a Valentine’s Day update may be imminent?

  22. Huge trade up today, I think I used all my trading karma for awhile, I was offered five yoga mats if I crafted five yoga mats, I’m already maxed out there so I had to click the little x in the corner and what do I get? Do one 60 minute job and get three donuts! Freaking awesome!

  23. Well here it is, 111 thumbs over Krusty Burger. At least it should be 111. Anyone want to count them? It hurts my eyes…

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/yunso4jx3ntlje4/57C6A033-5FA0-45D2-A649-10081541C5E7L0001.png?dl=0

    • It’s pretty!

      Gave up counting at 110…😄

    • That’s one of my favorite things to do too! I laugh at all the thumbs then I try to show my husband and he’s all “what’s so funny?”
      He doesn’t play.

      • I think this is generally considered a “good” of the game. Maybe some don’t really care, but does anyone actually dislike it?

        Divorce him!

        • LOL

My husband HATES TSTO…like seriously HATES it. But I think it’s because it takes me away from him lol…otherwise I’m pretty sure he’d enjoy the game. He just hates it out of spite lol…but I’m not gonna divorce him over it. If I can tolerate him being a Phillies and Eagles fan, I can tolerate a little TSTO hate lol

          • Same here. Whenever I hear can’t you just put that thing down and talk to me? I respond with you’ve been watching crap TV, I’ve been tapping out, what did I miss then he admits our lives are pathetic and lets me play.

          • Arghh could tolerate Phillies, but Eagles (I’m assuming football & not the band), would at least make him watch Eagles out in garage (just kidding of course)!

            • lol lucky for me baseball is way bigger in our house. And living where we live in Jersey (closer to NYC than Philly), we don’t get very many Eagles games lol

      • Me too! I love sending tons on the same task then watching all the money and xp pour in when I click the thumbs up. It is sort of the same now with the IRS if you have lots of bldgs together (for me its those spooky walls )

  24. I have a family member who plays anon on his ipad. A few days after the update, the game refuses to load. I can click on the icon, and then the donut circles and it crashes. Unable to play period. Created an origin ID just to see if the game can be saved, but unable to get it to load. Is there any way to get this to work again without having to uninstall it? He doesn’t want all his progress lost. I also wonder if the next update will correct this since it seems shortly after the last update this happened.

    • I’ve had this issue numerous times on my iPad. It has always been due to not having enough storage space on my iPad to handle the update. When I delete old apps and especially photos I get enough storage to handle the update. Instead of doing a sinc with my phone to take the photos off my iPad I just email them to myself and then open the email and save them to a thumb drive via my computer. I hope this helps.

      • Thank you.
iPad is very new and full of free space. I gave it a try, deleted a few apps and it didn’t work. It was worth a try.

        • If it’s not the device storage space issue, it may be the town having too much. When that was the case for me, EA had to roll back my game to when I didn’t have my town too full so I could get in again.

Also try to download via WiFi vs Data if possible.

If it was saved to an account name, I’d say try logging from another OPPOSITE device… like Android instead of iOS.

          • It’s a new ipad and newish game. Since it still won’t work, I contacted them again. They told me that it is an issue they are working on and hope to have resolved by 7pm gmt. I guess it’s not just on our end.

            • Try contacting them again and ask if they’ll roll your game back to last friday or so. Just keep in mind if that’s the case you’ll lose anything you did for the last week.

It’s definitely on their end. It’s an issue with your town on their server. But we tell you all the basics first because EA’s going to ask you to try the same things…and this way you can tell them you already did it.

          • I just looked up the problem on the forum and here it is:
            http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9969784.page

          • He got the patch this morning. Finally able to play.. Yay!

    • Call EA see what the can do choose call me back they call right back & you get better techs. Did you create originy account before uninstalling? If so should not be problem just sign out uninstall then reinstall & sign back in. Sometime just turning device all way off & back on will work!
      Good luck!

      • I’m talking to a rep now. ID was created before original post and has since downloaded the new update today. I just uninstalled as requested and am waiting for it to download again. I hope this works!

  25. Craig (ibuylow2014)

Hello Tappers, sorry if I have been away from your town for the last week. I took up Apple Vacations on one of their last minute vacation packages for a week in Cozumel. It was a good time, although the internet pretty much did not work where we were. So, I am back tapping like mad and reading 400 emails on ADDICTS comments.

  26. A day late for the sunday thread, but I had this great idea that they should have some sort of throwback event where we get skins of characters from the first couple seasons, or even the Tracey Ullman show. Come on, who doesn’t want orange Smithers?

  27. Hey Alissa, random question for you, or anyone from NJ or Oregon. I recently read that in those two states you’re not allowed to pump your own gas. Is that true?

    • Yup. It’s illegal (or as the sign at the station says it’s “unlawful”) to pump your own. It’s actually REALLY annoying because it just causes long lines at the stations. i’d rather pump my own just to get out of there faster. Although it is nice on a freeze cold day to not have to get out of your car lol

      • Wow I never heard that before! Do they have reason behind
It? I can see both good bad sides if it, they know it’s 2016 & not 1950s right.

        • Initially it was passed (in like the 40s or 50s) for “safety concerns”, just like every other state. However, every time they’ve tried to repeal it it gets voted down. There’s no support in the state for it to be repealed (even if it saves money on gas)..I think the last poll numbers had it at 20% or something in favor of repealing it.
The funny thing is…it just creates a TON of people who don’t know how to pump their own gas. I learned when i first started driving how to because I drove across country (several times) and you kind of have to. But there are so many people (men and women) who don’t know how to pump their own gas. Funniest thing ever. When we were in Disney this past summer I went shopping with my mom. Just my mom and I, and she needed to put gas in the rental car. Now keep in mind, my mom’s on the young side. She’s also up to date on technology. She understands how computers and phones and all that stuff works. But she had no clue how to do it and she wouldn’t let me do it because I was 7 months pregnant at the time. I sat there trying to explain to her what to do…she even tried to put her credit card in where the receipt comes out. I never laughed so hard.
That’s what happens when you’ve lived in Jersey your whole life and any time you’ve had to pump gas out of state someone else was with you.

          • I have a friend (former co-worker) who’s lived in MA her whole life and has never pumped her own gas. Blows my mind.

          • I once worked with a woman who had no idea how to pump her own gas. She said it was “the man’s job” to pump gas, and was offended on my behalf that my boyfriend didn’t pump gas for me. Interacting with her was very weird sometimes.

            • lol I love that…it’s a “man’s job”. No it’s a job for anyone who wishes to drive a car lol

            • Then she’d better hope that she dies before her husband (future husband), which, unless she marries someone significantly likely, is against the odds.

I’ll never have the strength to life and carry stuff like my husband can (if, god forbid, something happened to him, someone else will have to come and put in and take out my window air conditioners, for example (or I’ll have to leave them in year-round)), but I do try to make sure to learn to do stuff that I am physically capable of doing.

I’m very glad that, after college, I lived by myself for two years, and I’m glad that I’ve learned how to do things like pump gas, change my car’s air filter, and stuff like that. I’d hate to be one of those women who suddenly finds herself on her own (through death, divorce, or whatever) and realizes that she doesn’t know how to do anything.

              • My air conditioner is in year round.

              • Window air conditioner? How cold does it get where you are?

              • It gets cold. 40 and so forth.

              • 40? Hahahaha…that ain’t nothin’! Try living somewhere where temps in the 20s and below are fairly common in the winter (and oil is expensive). However, they do make this clingy plastic stuff I think you can put on/around Windows that might help seal the AC in the window such that it won’t leak cold air. But, for now, I’m just grateful that I have a husband who’s strong enough to take them out for the winter and put them back in in the spring/summer.

Actually, I have to admit that we do have one window air conditioner that stays in year-round…the one that cools off the whole downstairs, which is a big casement window type AC and really, really big and heavy. We have a ton of stuff around it to try and insulate air from leaking in around it, but nothing to keep air leaking through it (that I recall from where I’m sitting upstairs).

              • I forgot about the widow sealing plastic. That might work on the ac. 🙂

I say 40, but that’s a guess as my thermometer doesn’t even go down that far. Probably not too far, but I really don’t know the truth. I agree regardless, I don’t even want to imagine the cold weather of your climate. California cold is good enough for me. 😛

              • Where I grew up in South Dakota it wasn’t entirely uncommon to get in the -20’s wind chills in the -40’s

              • Why do people live in places like that? I’ll keep my crazy Earthquakes. That makes more sense. 😉

              • That’s just one of many reasons I left

              • Nope – that doesn’t make sense to me, either.

              • Craig (ibuylow2014)

What I don’t understand is why someone would live in a desert where even hundreds of miles of canals to bring water can’t supply enough water for those living there. I can drink melted snow.

              • And, yet, people actually choose to live there. Amazing! 😉

              • The coldest I’ve seen this winter was -19, but I have seen colder! As for choice…I was born here, have friends here, family…well maybe that’s another reason to move. 😛 My friend who has been living in Florida for three years wants to move back. Now that’s crazy!

              • Nah – I wouldn’t want to live in Florida (although I’d love not to have to shovel snow)…too hot (and, in many areas, way too humid), too many crazy people, and too many seriously damaging hurricanes.

              • That’s the great thing about MN, -20 in the winter, hot AND humid in the summer. Did I say great?

              • Is there a week or two in the spring or fall when it’s nice there? I’ve definitely crossed it off my list of possible places to live, but is there ever a decent time to visit? You know, like for when I do my cross-country-in-a-motor-home trip after I retire someday?

              • Late May To early June and September. One thing when growing up they said we had four seasons, which was true to point. 5 months of summer and winter and spring and fall might last a month each

              • I fear I’ve only highlighted the negatives. This winter has actually been very mild with two or three cold stretches. We did have a few days where it didn’t get above zero (including the -19) and that’s never fun.

Spring and fall can be very nice. I, especially like fall days where it’s warm in the day and cools down at night.

Summers can be hot and humid but the last couple have been more mild, as well. I can only remember a few days in the 90’s and I don’t think we hit 100 (though we do on occasion). The humidity comes with the heat, but in the land of 10,000 lakes you have to expect some. Last summer we had many days in the high 70’s and low 80’s, which, while maybe a bit higher than ideal, is not something I’m going to complain about!

              • My uncle’s cousin was a dancer but feel in the Ice was unconscious for about 20 minutes and had to have her feet amputated. Those storms get really nasty

              • Egads! That’s a *terrible* story!

              • Hope it wasn’t too much but I wanted to illustrate how bad these storms can get. I was once saved by the highway patrol

          • Sadly, I’m one of those people who only has the vague-est idea how to pump my own gas. I grew up in Massachusetts, and now live down the Jersey shore. Every time I need to pump my own I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to do! Fortunately, my go-to stations are rarely crowded, and they’re really efficient there (I try to avoid Costco gas, tho their prices are good…the lines are always crazy). It’s one of those things I always say I really need to learn how to do.

            • The problem with Costco gas in NJ is you don’t need to be a member to get gas there. Because it’s full service you don’t need the card, and it’s REALLY annoying. That’s why the lines are so long. In PA the lines are never long at Costco (unless there’s a storm or something coming) because you need the card and it’s self serve.

            • Do it – it’s really easy to learn. Like, it takes all of about 10 minutes to learn. It’s not like having to learn to drive standard or something.

I’m a big fan of learning to do basic stuff like that as much as I can, especially as a woman.

          • I’ve always gone the extra distance to find a self-serve gas station when needing to refuel. Thankfully I’ve never run out of gas while in N.J.

      • I really enjoy the luxury of having someone pump my gas when I visit NJ. There are some gas stations in MA that will pump gas for you, but it costs more, so I always pump my own. And the gas in NJ is so much cheaper than it is anywhere north of there on the East Coast. My parents always make sure to fill up on the NJ side of the tunnel when they’re going to and from their NJ summer place.

Of course, these days, the price of gas has plummeted just about everywhere here…I haven’t seen prices like these in a long, long time!

        • Yea, NJ is cheaper because the refineries are so close (used to be one right by my office, but it was flooded during Sandy and I don’t believe they’re planning on reopening). But yes the cheaper gas here is nice…my inlaws always fill up before they head back to PA when they visit. And we always make sure we fill up in Jersey before heading over to see them.
But the pumping gas…for me anyway…is a nice novelty sometimes. But other times, like when I’m waiting in a crazy long line for gas at Costco and see the inefficiency of the guys pumping the gas. Really drives you nuts…

      • Actually, assuming that the price is the same, there’s only one thing I can think of that I don’t like about having someone else pump my gas…they always want to try to “top off” the tank, which is actually not good for the car. I always have to ask them not to do that (and sometimes they actually listen).

        • Oh they don’t top off anymore. At least not around where we live.

        • Sounds like the problem with baggers at grocery stores. Seriously if these guys’ only job is to do that (bag or pump gas) do it following logic and learning. I like bagging my own stuff, too. But it’s awkward to tell them not to. I’ve only done it they were just horrible (like bruising fruit) and I was “grumpy” (maybe about bruised fruit…)

          • The financial risk of poorly bagged groceries is far less than the financial risk of damage to a car. And it’s not that they’re just mindlessly filling the tank and suddenly it’s too full…modern pumps are equipped with a thingy (technical term) that shuts the pump off once the tank is “full” (which is when I take the pump nozzle out and call it done), but a lot of gas station attendants then like to give the nozzle another squeeze to top off the tanks (which is bad for the car).

            • I understand. I’ve never topped. I just have to refuel again later anyways. No difference/benefit that I can see.

I compared them because I can do both of them. Gas fillers aren’t mechanics, they’re not doing more than I can do (I’m not awesome with car mechanics). Easily avoided mistakes for both them and bagging. More or less important I wasn’t meaning to imply.

          • Have you seen Season 12 Simpson Safari?

          • My husband is a mechanic and always stresses the ‘do not top off’ idea. Your gas tank actually needs that little bit of air at the top. If it doesn’t have it the extra gas drains down into the charcoal canister (a part of your evap system that keeps gas fumes from escaping into the air) and ruins it! Before you know it, you get a check engine light and you’re looking at replacing a $200 part plus labor! Don’t do it!

      • Yeah but I really miss it now that I have moved out of NJ. A big highlight of my trips back to NJ it stopping at a NJTP rest stop an having someone else pump my gas again! Yes, my life is boring

        • lol nah…it is exciting if you’re not used to it (or used to it but haven’t had it in a while). I remember the first time Bunny came to visit me, it was like a novelty for her to see them pumping her gas…

    • I live in Pa but work in Jersey and I consider it a luxury to not pump my own gas! I try to avoid getting it at home at all costs. Especially when the weather is bad.

      • The big price drop from PA to NJ doesn’t hurt either lol A couple of weeks ago it was $3.99 at a station by my in-laws (in PA). It was $1.45 by my house yesterday lol

      • The first time you got gas in NJ did you know what to expect? Or did you get out to pump your own and they came running (to stop you)?

        • Oh boy, when was the first time I got gas in Jersey? Maybe 96 or 97? I Do I remember back that far? Haha, I’m pretty sure I knew though because my grandparents had a house at the beach when we were kids and we spent every summer there growing up. It felt like the longest drive but in reality it was only about an hour.

          • My grandparents (the close ones) were over three hours away. That took FOREVER…and a day!

            • When I was in elementary school, my school was out on Long Island. It was an hour’s drive each way. Because of that, the first hour of any car trip I took with my parents never felt like it “counted,” because I was so used to it.

I wish that hadn’t worn off, as it eventually did when I no longer was going to that school.

    • I’m a native Californian, but I used to visit family in NJ every year when I was a kid. I always thought it was weird not being able to pump your own gas. I remember asking if you’re supposed to tip the guy who pumps your gas and getting laughed at. Even now though, it’s hard for me to see the logic in why we tip certain people and not others…

      • Oh I tip them at Christmas. But they do get paid surprisingly well…whereas waitstaff at restaurants get paid around $2.50/hr because they’re relying solely on tips.

        • I always want to tip them at Christmas and was wondering what the unspoken rule was. It’s so cold and those guys are working hard out there!

          • I dunno if other people do it…sometimes my husband looks at me like i’m crazy when I do it lol (then again he often just looks at me like I’m crazy.. 😉 )

      • Just be like Mr. Pink…

        • Ha. Reminds me of my grandpa, he always said “tip $5” no matter where you are or how much the meal was. Which is great if your getting a short stack at IHOP, but not so great for anything more upscale. Personally, I tend to go in the opposite direction of my grandpa and Mr. Pink, I think it shows class to overtip.

    • I’ve been there, to Oregon, and it’s true. I like to do it myself, so I don’t plan to live there. 😉

    • I’m 52 and pumped my own gas for the first time 5 years ago.

  28. Did they remove the homer buda or am i just blind?

  29. A question for all: I have been at level 59 for 2 months (been playing since last August), have 5 stars on all my ratings, have over 30 premium buildings and decorations including several that add a 4% bonus, yet I can’t get my Conform-o-Meter (CoM)’s bonus over 45%. I thought this was rather normal until I started seeing people boast of CoM bonuses of 200% and more. Astounding! How do you get this high? Are there certain key decorations that will boost this bonus considerably? I read about rat trap delivery trucks and blood mobiles, but how many are we talking about? Please help – I’m tired of only raking in $100,000 a day when other players make like a million… Thanks!

    • A lot of us, myself included, got a big boost from tennis courts that were temporarily available for Springfield Heights currency and wailing walls which were available during the Halloween event. Unfortunately neither of these will help you now. Rat trap trucks and blood mobiles don’t have anything to do with bonus %.

If you want to boost your % you can buy premium decorations that add to it. Check out the premium guide for more info… http://tstoaddicts.com/premium/

    • In the last Treehouse of Horror event there was the opportunity to craft dozens of Wailing Walls which each gave a 2.25% bonus. Before that there was the Tennis Courts (also 2.25%), which were craftable for about 2 weeks in Springfield Heights. At the moment there’s a slim chance you’ll get Minature Warheads (2.25%) or Kang Topiary (0.50%) from the Rocket Lancher. The only other way to get bonus % up quicker is by spending donuts on items like the Jet Engine Bike.

      • Thanks Lordy and Davidbo33. I do have a couple of SH tennis courts, and I did craft 3-4 Wailing Walls, but they weren’t enough to give me a serious boost. Guess I would need 30 of each! I poked around other forums, and it sounds like players with 200% and up have a LOT of premium items, like tons. I thought my 30-35 was decent, but it’s nothing.

If rat trap trucks and bloodmobiles do nothing to boost bonus %, then why did I read from people with high bonus % that they did? Shrug.

        • They buy them to get the xp to get closer to donuts from levelling and usually then sell them to get money back to buy more. Save up a ton of money spend donuts for xp accelerator then spend all your money, sell, spend, sell, until all your cash and bought trucks are gone

        • I have a bonus multiplier of over 235%, but I have very few premium items. I got most of my multiplier from the tennis courts and wailing walls (and spooky walls, too).

As for the bloodmobiles and rat trap trucks, you’ve missed the point. When you buy them, you earn a ton of XP (just like you earn XP when you buy/build almost anything or collect on your characters’ tasks). If you have a lot of cash and a high bonus multiplier (and, especially, if you buy a day’s worth of collider time), you can buy and sell a ton of rat trap trucks to earn a lot of XP really quickly, which then earns you a shot at the bonus donut boxes.

          Make more sense now?
