A few new items went live in our games this morning…and you guys are clamoring for the info. So let’s get right to it and break down the quick details of the Platinum Scratchers, Hostess Miss. Springfield & Chippy!
Before I get into the post…first a note about Players Club points. This is REALLY important, so please pay attention. Players Club points (
) are NOT awarded until the item you unlock or purchase is placed (and built) in your Springfield. So if you won a prize that’s a building, you won’t unlock the associated points until you place it in your Springfield and it has been built. If you purchase a character, like Cat Hostess Miss. Springfield the points will not be awarded until Cat Hostess Miss. Springfield is unlocked in your town. So don’t freak out you didn’t get the points..check to see that the item is in your town and NOT in your inventory.
Now on with your regularly scheduled post…
Let’s start with the Platinum Scratchers.
These have been in the files FOREVER. They’re basically a more expensive version of the Golden Scratcher, with higher donut payouts. So yes, these cost cold hard cash..not in game cash, actual cash from your real life pockets.
When you enter Springfield today you’ll see this popup from Apu:
Apu: People are winning so much at the casino that no one wants to waste their money on my lottery tickets. Preying on human gullibility is the only way I stay in business. Or wait… what if I tried to provide a great customer experience? No more gouging. To say “Thank you, come again” and *mean* it. Eh, maybe I’ll try and lure those idiots back with a fancier Scratch-R.
The Platinum Scratchers are $7.99 each (USD, your country may have a different cost). And the minimum prize you can win is 100 donuts..and the jackpot is 1,000 Donuts!.
You’ll find them in your Kwik-E-Mart, just like the other Scracthers…
But you’ll notice they’re only available for 3 days…so they are limited time and will leave Springfield on March 4th. So if you wanna try your hand, buy now before they’re gone!

I purchased one and won 115 donuts..
Not very exciting…at least for me anyway.
And a quick reminder…For $4.99 you can purchase 60 donuts and for $9.99 you can purchase 132 donuts. So At a minimum of 100 donuts, it’s not a bad return. Also, remember the Golden Scratcher only costs $0.99 and the Jackpot there is 100 Donuts.
My Opinion… If you’re a premium player it’s worth spending the $7.99 to see what you get, at least once. If you’re a freemium player who never buys donuts or the $0.99 scratchers…why would you buy these then? And if you’re the player who casually buys $0.99 scratchers and occasionally $9.99 worth of donuts it may be worth it to try this out, but I can’t speak for you or your finances.

They’ve done rebates a few times, Black Friday, and weren’t Üter and Lurleen offered for a rebate shortly before Halloween (probably some others I’m forgetting)? But how many times has there been a rebate and bundle packaged together? Barney, of course, but was there something with Otto a while back?
Otto was a possible reward in Frink’s special deal a while ago, when the XP Collider was introduced.
After some digging I found what I was looking for. (I tried before, but apparently I wasn’t using the right keywords) In August 2014, Otto was offered, with some playground equipment, in a bundle for 70 donuts. A discount, not rebate. Either way, I missed out on it because I had Otto already and same with Barney.

Is the Platinum Scratcher limited to certain users? I buy the gold ones every once in a while but I don’t have the option for the platinum one yet. No update pendant or anything thay i know of. Is there a way to force the app into checking for updates or should i just wait for them to show?

I bought a premium Scratchee for $12.00AUD I won 100. For the price it was worth the risk, as you said the return isn’t so bad.
I bought the Miss Springfield bundle. I planned one eventually getting her anyway, but after I had bought everyone other non-limited time female. So it just gave me a awesome deal to get her now. Plus the costume is adorbs!
How frequently does the platinum ticket regenerate?
No regeneration. It’s purchasable..buy as many as you want, as often as you want..until March 4th

The minimum payout on the platinum scratch-r is marginally better than buying 60 doughnuts. The golden scratch-r minimum is the same value as a dozen doughnuts, so it is an improvement. I’ll pass though, I’m not interested in the gamble. I’m buying the boatload of doughnuts I’d already planned to purchase this month instead.
But yay for Miss Springfield :). She’s been on my to-buy list for a while but I keep putting her off ’cause she’s so expensive.

I picked up the Miss S skin as well. I thought it was a bit of a stiff price as well, although it does give you a nice bump in the Players Club points.

Are the odds proportionately the same as they are for the Golden Scratch-R? (I thought maybe you’d be willing to answer that question, even if you’re not comfortable posting the exact odds…)

Really? Why? The odds really factor into my calculations of whether to bother spending the money on these (especially at $7.99!). In the absence of info, and having just gotten some “free” money from a market research app, I decided to splurge on one, but, in general, other than once in a long while when I was in a gambling mood, I stay away from the Golden Scratch-Rs, since the odds say I’m much better off saving up to get a truckload. (But, if anyone was foolish enough to consider buying a box of donuts, then they should always buy a Golden Scratch-R instead, as I know you know.)
Because the odds of winning the lottery are slim..yet when the powerball payout is a billion dollars you still buy a ticket. The odds don’t change from when it’s 50 million dollars, but you still get the ticket when the payout is high. Same concept, at least to me. The reward is high, so it’s worth the risk. No matter what the odds are.
I buy the regular scratchers occasionally as the possible jackpot is better than outright donut purchases. I bought the platinum with proceeds from Google survey. I got 3 hammers for 200 donuts and bought Miss Springfield and still have donuts left. YEA.
Now as an addicted gambler, all these gambling buildings will be in storage as soon as they allow me too. Too many bad memories and now I don’t need to remember my gambling diaper.

This is an interesting trend that seems to be starting with offering old premium characters for a big discount during events. Barney was an auto-by for me last event, but I’m still not sure about this one. As for other old characters I really want but haven’t purchased yet the main one is Scorpio and his lair, so hopefully he figures in an upcoming event.
I like the current trend of offering these combo deals in the events. Basically half price premium characters with the added bonus of working with the current event. As a Freemium player I also purchased Barney with earned Donuts in the last event. Also hesitating on this one, but the deal is pretty good. You get a building, a premium character, a costume, and Club points. Just might have come close to talking myself into this one.
Hostess Mrs. Springfield works well with the milhouse’s parents the adult versions. Him being attacked by squirrels and her showing of her suit. Chippy’s cool for free chips. Won’t be buying scratchers i got enough donuts saved up.
I got the scratcher; lowest match…120 donuts. Then did the regular scratcher and highest match so nothing like a kick to the….

No desire to buy chippy, but the Miss Springfield bundle would be awesome. Too bad I only have 76 donuts. Not even enough if it wasn’t a stupid rebate after buy. 🙁
I’m going to get her but only after act 2 starts. Very steep price for a skin (who already pays out premium) and a sign with no bonus percentage. The 750 is tres bien but not worth 115 donuts. Maybe 114 but not 115.
You got an out loud chuckle from me on that last sentence. I’ll wait for the SIB post to make my final decision but she better have the best outdoor animations in the history of the game for me to part with 115 donuts for that skin and a sign. (Am I the only one who gags at the loosest craps portion of the sign? I’d have to cover that with palm trees or something) Not unheard of for me though, it wasn’t that long ago that I parted ways with a lot of donuts for Witch Marge and Devil Flanders.
Those are three great skins. Witch Marge is probably the most useful skin, Devil Flanders is probably the coolest, and now Hostess Miss S. is certainly the sexiest (well as sexy as a digital depiction of a jaundiced cartoon character with an overbite can be, which, I’ll admit, is more than I assumed).

Yep – sucks. And I really want the combo too, but it should be something like 30 donuts for players who already have her, or the skin is completely free (no sign) since you already bought her at full pop. Still a great deal for new purchasers, and a big thank you for the longtime premium supporters. I don’t know why they can’t get this through their heads. All they are doing is reminding me why I shouldn’t spend any money in this game unless something is on a wicked sale.

Boy it’s a change to have the players getting the discount upset now. Usually it’s the players who paid the higher cost for the premium character…3 years ago…getting upset. Just proves EA can’t please everyone…
I’m sure we’re in the minority, but I would also like the sign and pass on Miss Springfield. However I certainly will not complain about a deal that puts her in a cheap range and includes a rebate just big enough to buy the Vegas wives. Unfortunately unless I buy donuts I’ll probably be 50 short for the rebate.
Maybe more like get the sign and not the skin. Miss Springfield and her Motel and the sign. Would that be fair? Maybe they’ll offer more packages when they do this kind of thing in the future.

I’m sure it it. Because thats exactly my plan. Will be picking up a gift card at safeway when I get groceries tonight. Its 10% off day. lol. I’ll buy a Platinum Sratcher then Miss Springfield, then use the rebate for the Vegas wives. I just hope I win at least 125 pink things. If not, I may have to buy a few extra. I will be down to near nothing after this. I’m currently sitting at 104 pink things.
I bought one platinum scratcher to try it out. Won the minimum 100 donuts. Right after, I bought a gold scratcher. Won the jackpot of 100 donuts. Ugh, of course! The price per donut payout isn’t bad for the platinum though, especially if you already buy gold scratchers every now and then.
I couldn’t imagine getting Miss Springfield before, the price was too high and I’ve been entirely freemium in the last year or so. But at only 110 donuts (after the rebate), she becomes one of the better bargains among the characters I don’t have. And with the Player’s Club points as a bonus… I’m jumping on the deal. Glad I’ve been saving all the free donuts lately waiting for a deal.
Not really bothered that she doesn’t come with the sign… it makes for a nice bonus for the premium players who already have her and want the skin.
Am I dumb for wondering why these scratch tickets are $10.99 in Canada? I understand the exchange rate, but how does that impact digital doughnuts? They don’t even spell doughnuts properly for us Canadians.
EA gets the same amount of money regardless of which country you’re in, the extra money goes to Apple or something like that. Someone else can explain it better though lol.
Extra money goes to Apple (or Google or Kindle) and the government of the country you live in. For taxes imposed on digital currency these days.
With today’s exchange rate it should cost about $10.22 CDN. So Apple is benefitting by a bit less than a dollar and EA gets their $8 USD. The consequences of playing a U.S. game.
And in Oz, the price is $159 ish for a boatload. I sort of understood when the Aussie Dollar was above parity with the US dollar but now we are around the 70c mark and it is a rip off. I haven’t bought doughnuts since

I got her!! She was one of the characters on my “permanent characters” wish list, never thought I’d get her though due to the crazy price, just like Barney. So now I have her, the awesome looking building, probably one of the best skins the game has ever had, AND I’m now only 280 points from the first level of the tower!!

I’d like to get Chippy too, he’s so cute and we all know how much I love NPCs, but 50 donuts is steep for an NPC. And he only rewards 60 club points. The one token a day reward is neat though.
Undecided on the Platinum scratcher. It costs $10.99 in Canada. From what I’ve been reading most people are getting 100 donuts, and I can pay $3 more and get 132 donuts guaranteed soo…
I also decided today to store Artie Ziff. He annoyed me whenever I saw him and I haaaaate his character and all the episodes he’s in, and his propose to Marge task is gross. He’s the only character I have in storage though, byeee Artie!

I have Kumiko, but not the others. I want them all sooooo bad and I REALLY want a Whacking Day event! I’m not actually sure if it was from there, but I love the giant snake that obviously ate all the kids. I don’t just want the things though – I want to play the event!

No it’s good. It’s exclusive for those who spent the 200+ donuts on Miss. Springfield. Others can pay less for Miss. Springfield and get the costume, but the sign is exclusive.

I was excited when Alissa said it came with the sign. But I kept reading and learned that my offer didn’t come with that. It’s okay, just a sign. I like the “Cirque du Buffet” more than the one that is in my store. Question is, is it bigger than that sign?

She seems to be available separately, in the normal menu. Maybe you can buy her there, full price, then get the skin and sign for 110. I didn’t try it, obviously, so no idea if it forces you to get the deal without sign.
