Scratchers, Cat Hostess & Chippy Oh My!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

A few new items went live in our games this morning…and you guys are clamoring for the info.  So let’s get right to it and break down the quick details of the Platinum Scratchers, Hostess Miss. Springfield & Chippy!

charactersets_missspringfield_hostess Charactersets_chippie2016-03-01 11.58.33

Before I get into the post…first a note about Players Club points.  This is REALLY important, so please pay attention.   Players Club points (ico_mhub_casino_eventlevel) are NOT awarded until the item you unlock or purchase is placed (and built) in your Springfield.  So if you won a prize that’s a building, you won’t unlock the associated points until you place it in your Springfield and it has been built.  If you purchase a character, like Cat Hostess Miss. Springfield the points will not be awarded until Cat Hostess Miss. Springfield is unlocked in your town.  So don’t freak out you didn’t get the points..check to see that the item is in your town and NOT in your inventory.

Now on with your regularly scheduled post…

Let’s start with the Platinum Scratchers.

ico_sctr_plat_itchyico_sctr_plat_scratchy

These have been in the files FOREVER.  They’re basically a more expensive version of the Golden Scratcher, with higher donut payouts.  So yes, these cost cold hard cash..not in game cash, actual cash from your real life pockets.

When you enter Springfield today you’ll see this popup from Apu:

Apu: People are winning so much at the casino that no one wants to waste their money on my lottery tickets.  Preying on human gullibility is the only way I stay in business.  Or wait… what if I tried to provide a great customer experience?  No more gouging. To say “Thank you, come again” and *mean* it.  Eh, maybe I’ll try and lure those idiots back with a fancier Scratch-R.

2016-03-01 11.02.16

The Platinum Scratchers are $7.99 each (USD, your country may have a different cost).  And the minimum prize you can win is 100 donuts..and the jackpot is 1,000 Donuts!.

You’ll find them in your Kwik-E-Mart, just like the other Scracthers…

2016-03-01 11.57.12

But you’ll notice they’re only available for 3 days…so they are limited time and will leave Springfield on March 4th.  So if you wanna try your hand, buy now before they’re gone!

Here’s the prize payouts:

2016-03-01 11.58.33

I purchased one and won 115 donuts..

2016-03-01 11.58.46

Not very exciting…at least for me anyway.

And a quick reminder…For $4.99 you can purchase 60 donuts and for $9.99 you can purchase 132 donuts.  So At a minimum of 100 donuts, it’s not a bad return.  Also, remember the Golden Scratcher only costs $0.99 and the Jackpot there is 100 Donuts.

My Opinion… If you’re a premium player it’s worth spending the $7.99 to see what you get, at least once.  If you’re a freemium player who never buys donuts or the $0.99 scratchers…why would you buy these then?  And if you’re the player who casually buys $0.99 scratchers and occasionally $9.99 worth of donuts it may be worth it to try this out, but I can’t speak for you or your finances.

And now for the new stuff in our stores….

Two new premium items arrived today.  Chippy and Cat Hostess Miss. Springfield.  (and a rebate deal if you don’t already have Miss. Springfield)  Let’s quickly break them down..

I feel the same way about the bundles… Feels unfair to players who already purchased those characters/items. However! That gold diggers sign is my favorite item so far for this event! I love the dazzling colors!! Worth it!

  2. So I have a quick question…sorry…a couple of questions. Is Chippy worth spending donuts on in your opinion and…thanks to so much happening in my life right now and the game never telling me of an in App update until 3 days after the update has launched I am way behind on my prize track for chips… so should I buy the Rich Texan to try and help out or should I save my donuts for possibly something better that EA might be releasing later? I just bought Miss Springfield but she doesn’t help with the event. I knew everyone would be ahead of me because of coming in 3 days late but I have only been playing for less than a year and I never seem to have the right premium characters for the events. Super jealous of the long time players. I wish I had the mass of characters to help me out so the events weren’t so stressful. I just had a game update right before I logged on here too and was hoping it would be something to help with my game but I haven’t noticed any changes. Sorry this is so long but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    • With only a few days left, I do not know if I would suggest rushing into something with Donut spending unless it REALLY makes you happy.

This is what I always ask when pondering a purchase… “3 months from now, will it STILL make you happy you bought it?” Weigh what it costs and what it is worth to YOU and your personal gaming experience. Will it help you out only now, or the future as well? There are still more acts to come in this Event, so you may want to wait and see. Just follow what you feel will be best for YOU and YOUR enjoyment. 😉

    • Don’t give up. Keep going and get what you can. You can do it. 🙂

  3. Getting lots of donuts on the High Roller Bonus. Nice reward for early finish.

  4. As a premium player, I have now decided not to do premium purchases outside of special bundles anymore. They did it with Barney and the space event – offering me a costume for full price after I already paid full price for Barney way back, while offering new buyers character&costume for less than I originally payed for just the char. Now they are doing it again with Miss Springfield. Ergo: No more premium purchases unless it is a special bundle. Great marketing move ^^ Yes, it is nice for new players, but as someone who´s played from the start I feel duped. I thought it was a one time “slip” with Barney, but since it seems to be new EA policy, I´ll get right on board with it and become a freemium player. Sorry for the rant, but I know EA occasionally reads the comments here…

    • Do what you do. Hopefully EA adjusts their “policy” to be a bit fairer. Would a free skin be fairer?

    • Do you get equally upset when stores have clearance sales? How about when car dealerships sell last year’s model cars for less when they’re about to release the new year’s stock?

I get when people are upset because they had just bought the sale item a couple of weeks ago or something (although I get “disappointed” more than “angry” even then), but I don’t understand why people who have enjoyed having a character in their town for a year or more (and all of the earnings and help with various events that that character brought in) get so annoyed when the character later goes on sale at a discount.

    • Yeah it really ticked me off when I could have paid half…as well as the various holiday krap that I worked for the year prior. I’ve come to the same decision. I’m only missing the radish station and hopefully it will be available at some point. 😉

    • I agree. I feel disappointed by this, too. It wouldn’t be so bad if the new content was a token amount, or reflected some kind of discount, too. If some players are getting a character, skin, and building for one amount, a skin and decoration should not cost the same amount. I suppose they must think that if you already purchased Miss Springfield, you’d be more willing to buy the skin/deco bundle with no discount.

  5. I just got Lucius Sweet and have a bunch of gold coins left over. Should I use them now to get bonuts, or will I be able to hoard them for the prize track in act 2?

  6. Her Questline is pretty lame. I’m on part three and I sent her to attend a gala for the third time. I wonder where that task takes place if you don’t have the outdoor opera stage though?

    • In my low level game I don’t have the stage and i couldn’t do the quest. Didn’t check to see if it’s because I’m missing something else though…

    • Spoiler alert, Ciara! 😛 And where’s my fudge?

    • Even though the tasks are repetitive so far, I think the dialogue’s pretty funny.

    • I just purchased Miss Springfield and don’t have the stage…. didn’t even know she would go there if you did until I read this….she goes to the Gilded Truffle in my game.

    • You’re disappointed even though that is the most disturbing animation I’ve ever seen!!!? Which is a good thing, but it’s definitely not sexy. Oh, yeah, spoiler alert. 😉 I saw it in your town. Looks very much like it would require the open air stage. If I do end up getting her, that task will be on hold in my town as I don’t have the open air stage or the opera stage. 🙁

Smart Brain P.S. Oh, maybe that’s not the animation she was sent to do. Dunno, since visiting neighbors sends a character out from their hidden task and shows a visible one. Either way, very disturbing “cat” animation.

      • Lol no she’s been inside the opera stage since I got her. Haven’t seen any of her outdoor tasks yet.

        • Hah, sorry. Lucky me, then. I got to see it before you did..and you paid for it! MUAHAHAHA! 😛

I didn’t even know there was an inside to the stage. Like, what’s the point of an “open air” stage if not all tasks are visible? :/

          • You’re thinking of the premium open air stage. I just have the opera stage from Terwilligers 🙂 and part 4 of her quest is ATTEND A GALA *facepalm*

            • Maybe…..

My Cecil says he needs the Open Air Stage, but I’m sure that’s Opera Stage for most everyone else. If you put the opera stage away, maybe she’d be attending the Open Air Stage.

What’s the facepalm? Is it me or the gala? (I don’t know what a gala is, but probably a party.)

  7. sonicboiny834 ryan

Only 100 doughnuts on the scratcher. Miss Springfield has been inside since I got her so no opinion yet and I love Chippy. So cute. I was barely awake when I got it but didn’t he say something about tapping him once a day for some currency?

  8. According to TSTO addicts, unlocking the prizes can earn certain players club points, and the unlock of Lucius Sweet gets 595 points.

Up until now, I got all club points when I unlocked other prizes.

However, this time I chose to put Lucius Sweet into the inventory first, instead of using him directly. No points granted, of course.

Then I opened my inventory, used Lucius Sweet.

After Used Lucius Sweet, he was placed to the SpringField all right, and his question line began. However, I still didn’t get my 595 club points.

I know I did not get the points because I am very close (about 100 points) to the next club level for days. I counted the 595 points to get me to the next level. Now it seems that it won’t happen.

Does anybody knows what’s happened, and how to fix this problem.

    • Contact EA. Sounds like a bug happens when you put him in your inventory first. For me I immediately placed him and the cards popped out. So i think it’s an inventory bug.

    • Same thing happened to me only with the Miss Springfield character. Bought her and placed her in inventory, and when I placed her in the town, no club points awarded. Also, how do you get the cat costume? All I see is the Miss Springfield costume with the sash in front. Does it appear after the questline? Can’t seem to find the cat costume. Maybe that’s why no club points?

  9. I had a Platinum Scratch-R in my inventory for ages which I got as compensation for the Christmas 2014 bug were I was out of the game for nearly 3 days. However – the Scratch-R never worked so I got another compensation but EA never removed it from my Inventory.

To make a long story short: I was now able to use the Platinum Scratch-R from my inventory and won 125 donuts “for free”.

  10. So I’m having an issue with my gamblers, but I haven’t seen anyone else mention this. There’s always a few that end up hanging around the casino, but I can’t seem to clear them. I tap on them and nothing happens. I’ve tried going to another friend’s town and coming back, and then they’re gone, but my chip counter hasn’t changed – i.e. I’m not getting chips for those untapped gamblers. I tried contacting EA but the only option they gave me was the forums, and I’d really much rather just email them. Has anyone else had this issue/know how to fix it/ have the link to the site where I could email EA? Thanks

  11. Oops just bought a platinum scratcher. YES won 300 donuts!

  12. Does anyone know if the Rich Texan will have casino tasks in acts 2 and 3? I don’t want to buy him if his usefulness will end with act 2, but will buy him soon if he’s going to be good for all 3 acts.

  13. Aafreen Inayat

I just realized something ………….. The 2 characters that EA recently offered on rebates were Barney (regular price 250 donuts) & Miss Springfield (regular price 225 donuts)

So it “seems” that the odds of items (that originally cost 200+ donuts) being offered for rebate/discount are high ………. Time will tell if this theory holds water or not ……… Until then, I can only “suggest” that players do not make too many “very expensive” in-game purchases :DDD

    • They’re also items that were at one time free, as prizes from events. Barney from Christmas 2012, Miss. Springfield from Whacking Day.

    • Argh I bought Miss Springfield just a few months ago… so I lost 115 donuts… oh well at least I managed to snag Barney!

    • I also noted that two of the priciest characters have been offered at steep discount through rebate. Makes me think I’ll be able to pick up Drederick Tatum on sale some time in the future! If they go outside of the once-free, event-prize characters, Hank Scorpio is the next expensive one.

    • Aafreen Inayat

I just checked & both Sleep-Eazy Motel & Bowlarama were also offered at discount/rebate during the Black Friday November 2014 event, but the 2016 discounts on them are MUCH better. I feel bad now for the people who bought them in BF November 2014

2016 (so far) teaches us to wait for events to launch to purchase premium characters (very likely on rebates). And do not buy premium characters (in the absence of an event/promotion) at full price

      • This is the advice du jour.

      • The only people I feel sorry for are people who bought those characters within a few weeks (or worse, days) of when they went on sale. Other than that, I don’t have too much sympathy, because folks got the use of those characters for a longer while in exchange for paying more for them.

It’s really not any different than getting a good deal on last year’s car model. No one who bought the car a year earlier complains when the same model goes on sale later…everyone knows that’s how it goes!

I did think that the Frink sale being completely unavailable to anyone who had ANY of the premium buildings/characters was unfair, though.

  14. Always Bad lucky in This game, got only 100 donuts on platinum scratch.. :/

  15. I bought a platinum scratcher and won 200 donuts. But then I went back to buy another and it says it’s no longer available come back later for another try.

  16. Just want to remind folks who are planning to make purchases, that if you have the ability to do it on an Amazon device, you really, really should. I bought 1000 Amazon Coins for $9.50 (in other words, I got a 5% discount). Then I bought a $7.99 Platinum Scratch-R and got a refund of 120 Amazon Coins. So, in essence, I paid $6.49 for the Scratch-R and got an overall 20% discount over what I would have paid had I made the purchase on my iPad.

(Oh, and in case anyone’s wondering, I won 125 donuts, which, given what I net paid for them, brought the cost down to about what it would be at the boatload level.)

    • I had enough amazon coins in my account, nice to get 120 back.
Hit the Platinum Scratch-R for 200 donuts.
Wish I had that kind of luck out of game (stupid scratch tickets).

  17. Any chance they will have a rebate deal for Tatum?

  18. Gregory Jablynski

I haven’t been able to purchase one of the platinum scratchers. Keep getting a connection error message.

  19. lisaknowsbest

How long after buying a platinum scratcher before you can buy another?

  20. Did anybody else buy Chippy and then not get the clubcard points? I know that happened to me because that was the main reason I bought him.

    • It happened to me too! I placed him right away so it isn’t the inventory glitch some have experienced with other prizes. I seem to be making enough progress otherwise though so it hasn’t hurt me too much

  21. I bought a platinum scratcher this morning, and got 3 wooden mallets for 200 donuts and my iPad promptly crashed. Luckily when I went back in they were there. Phew.

I also bought Miss Springfield’s costume which put me over the top and updated my club card several levels.

Not that I’m really paying attention but why put your Banana Dictatorship away? That’s an awesome decoration!

  22. I bought a platinum scratch ticket and won 200 donuts. Picked up cat hostess and chippy. Awesome event so far. 🙂

  23. Since the update today I feel as though Moes Casino is now paying less. Pretty much everything today has raised less. I have played diligently all day and only received one coaster…lame

  24. It won’t let me purchase another platinum scratch-r how long do I have to wait to get another?

  25. I have a question. How frequently can you buy a platinum Scratch-R? I bought one this morning, but for at least the last 4 hours when I tap on a KEM, under Platinum Scratch-R it says: “The platinum Scratch-R is no longer available. Come back later for another shot at it!”

  26. Anyone else having a problem crafting casino resources into prizes?

  27. Is there going to be a Gold DIggers Casino? Cuz without it isn’t the sign pointless. Same with the Cowgirl Sign.

  28. IF you have a newish freemium town, this is a decent purchase. I suggest collecting bottles/cans or trading a couple movies to raise the $8. I traded in some gas station points for a $15 iTunes gift card, and bought the Scratcher. I won 110 donuts. Meh.

Now, take those 110 donuts, and you now have 18 Mystery Boxes. Again, if you have a newer freemium town, this is where you can do some damage. I got 2 I&S billboards, Tire Fire, 3 Lard Lads, 2 Bomb Shelters, Kearney, Lemon Tree, 3 10 donuts, Blue-Haired Lawyer, 2 Minnow Ponds, 1 Khlav Kalash, 1 _ONDA, and 1 News Van.

To buy all this separately, I would’ve had to spend 670 donuts and $37,600 in game. So, to me $8 (essentially free) was well worth it. To people who have late-level towns maybe not.

    • I thought the platinum temptation was to get Cat Hostess. Glad you could pay catch up with the mystery boxes. It took me at least 6 months to get all that with the old system. Just 1 Lard Lad, though.

  29. Did a platinum scratch off and got 300 donuts. Then bought miss Springfield. Win win for me woo hoo.

  30. I’m a freemium (playing 9 months – level 59, and proud of my Springfield layout), but have been very tempted lately to purchase the Boatload (2,400) of donuts for $139.99 (Cdn $). The Barney deal was my 1st temptation and now Cat Hostess Miss Springfield is making me want to pull the trigger.

On another note, looks like EA is tightening the slots and the gold tokens as I am getting closer (5,000 chips away) to getting Lucius. Got no gold tokens for tapping on my gamblers in the 4 hour gap and less than 400 chips with 6 tokens at the slots.
