Springfield Showoff: Las Springfield (Burns Casino Event)

As we sit here frakkin files, pulling pics, and typing a million words a minute to get our readers the latest updates and information…we find ourselves sometimes forgetting to stop and enjoy our own games. More so our neighboreenos. So we try to make it a point to hop in n out of the towns now and then to see what cool things YOU are up to. So we have decided we want to continue to focus more attention (as if we don’t already 😛 ) on YOU…our readers. Time to time we will be peaking into your towns, checking our Flickr, and also the posts in the comments below to see what cool ideas and designs YOU have come up with to make your towns unique and…well…YOU. So here is YOUR chance to show off all your hard work, time, donuts & in game cash spent. Send us your work, no matter how big or small. Brag about it to the world. We want you to. (That and Bunny loves to see other designs and get inspiration from it.) Then keep your eyes posted to Addicts to see if YOU end up on our “SPRINGFIELD SHOWOFF”.

Showoff casino

Now that the Casino Event is nearing the end we thought this week it would be fun to see what y’all have done with your Casino Stuff!  As it can always be a little intimidating and frustrating trying to figure out just where to put all this stuff…so who better to turn to than our fellow Addicts?  And as always you guys came through big time!  Like seriously…so many of you sent in submissions I can’t post them the regular way.  This would be the post that doesn’t end.  There are over 120 submissions this week!  Crazy!  And you guys all have some great designs and ideas for all the casino stuff, so let’s take a look!

First…my Casino Area is no where near complete yet.  But Wookiee’s is…so here’s what our very own Wookster came up with:

image1 (2)

So for all of your submissions…I did something we’ve done a couple of times in the past.  I’ve uploaded them and created a gallery.  While I usually like to give you guys your own moment and space on the page, with over 120 submissions there’s just no way I can do that this week.   So just tap one of the thumbnails below to be taken to the gallery. The name of the creator will be listed at bottom of each pic:

My apologies if I missed anyone.  I tried to grab everything I saw, but with so many it’s possible one or two could have slipped through.

Also, a note about which programs you use to post your photos.  Make sure you’re using a program that will allow us to save the image.  If not we cannot post the image…here’s Jasmine’s.  I couldn’t pull it and add it to the gallery because instagram won’t let me save the photo:

Whew!  You guys really liked showing off your towns!  And we loved checking them out!  You all did such a great job…you gave us some great ideas! What did you all think of your fellow Addict’s designs?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Stay tuned for the next Showoff announcement!  In the meantime keep designing those Springfields!

  1. Thank you Alissa ☺️
    Happy Easter 🐰 & Happy Tappin 👇🍀❤️

  2. Is the big circular fountain from a previous event?

  3. I’ve had an insanely long work weekend but tomorrow is my Friday and I fully intend to spend lots of time checking out all of these amazing designs. I had a lot of fun with this event. I really couldn’t commit to a design for the SH space and was using it to store buildings until I found a place in town for them. This casino strip has started a whole new concept for me and I look forward to turning that whole space into an Atlantic City, NJ/Ocean City, MD type town as a vacation destination for all of my characters. All I’m missing is a liquor store and a “SUNsation” type clothing store. Lol

  4. Great designs!!!!!!!!
Still haven’t figuered out how to put the sequence fountains on water like Jhonny8787 did???? Did I miss something??? 😉

  5. I’m late for starting work, but I did want to spend a few minutes commenting on some of the wonderful designs that I saw here…

Andrew and Swissy001 – I loved both of your Nero’s Palace designs!

Agnelbrr, Bellyheng, brittj87, Dsos – Loved your fountain designs. And, DaPimp, your tall fountain was really cool!

Brooders – I thought this was supposed to be Burns’ casino area, but clearly you’ve decided otherwise, lol! 😉

Carter, Cbudny, ChapelFB, and M1RU12 – How did you stitch stuff together with no jagged edges? Really nice looking the way you did it (interesting sepia background effect too, M1RU12)!

Hudd – I’m jealous of all of your limos…they look great in a casino area like this.

SillyBoy – What an interesting use of those Walk of Fame stars on your runway!

Dr. Tyler – Nice use of the ornate piers…really works!

Oco1964 – I like the way you incorporated the Fortress of Lonlitude into your design…looks like a great art installation piece!

Howard G – Nice design, but how do people get to Nero’s and Brittania? Swim? 😉

While I saw lots of great stuff (some of which I had thought of), I have to say that, for once, looking at all of these didn’t leave me feeling bad about my own casino area. I actually found that I liked mine better than many others, which was nice for a change, since I don’t often feel that way. I don’t think mine looks that great in the stitched version — too small and doesn’t capture the motion that’s built into it — but that’s okay…I’m the one who has to look at it the most, so, as long as it makes me feel good to see the real thing, that’s all that matters. (The only thing I wish is that there wasn’t as much stuff going on behind it…might have been nice if there was more space between it and the buildings on the street behind it. But I don’t want to waste the space it would take to achieve that.)

Okay – past time to get to work!! Thanks for sharing, everyone, and good job!

    • Hi Sandrashill; for my image, I took 4 screenshots on my iPad Mini Retina. (Waiting until the game “overlay tools” (taskbook, move/friends icons, etc) disappeared, for each shot. Then I opened all 4 images on my laptop, in Photoshop, and aligned each one as a layer, until the overlap was spot-on. Then I applied a darkening brush to everything in the composite image that wasn’t Casino-related…

    • I agree, so many great designs. Also, thank you, I’m glad that you enjoyed my fountain design. My first thought of it, that it was too much, but I guess I fell in love with it, I can’t seem to want to redesign it now. lol

    • Rofl ☆☆☆☆☆

  6. I’m curious Anyone know where people are getting the “Gold Diggers Casino Sign” from? I have not seen it in the store since this update hit. Through neighbors I see they have that and some have blue themed Ferris wheel too.

  7. Love those designs I’ll have to work on it as well but due to my injury in the Brussels bombing I was unable to use my phone for a while.

    • Oh, I’m SO sorry to hear you were a part of that, much less injured by it. My heart and thoughts are with you.

  8. I admire all those town. I am a bad town planner, I have nice section, but I can’t properly bind them together. So great job, all of you! You have great towns.

An extra little something on behalf of Brooders
    🙂

  10. https://flic.kr/p/FBiFF8

And this is how it looks today, 🙂

  11. Great job everyone. Seriously considering changing my name and moving to another city in shame…

    • Awww…no… You wait – you’ll have your moment of glory here, too. I’ve definitely had some events where what I did wasn’t even worth posting and others where I was kind of proud of the end result. So, just wait for the next Showoff!

      • I’m not so sure. Back when my town was still growing and I always had more land to expand into I would occasionally undertake a creative design project. But since I’ve filled all the available land I’ve taken down most of these to make room for all the stuff that we keep getting. I’m thinking, unless I nuke my town and start over or engage in some radical redesign, I just don’t have the room to do the kind of wonderfully creative expansive designs that I’m admiring in the show off.

    • I loved your town, I thought it was very creative the way you started on the boardwalk and put it together going from there to your town creating a casino section. I loved the placements of your decorations like the lights on the peacock and the placement of your star squares, the danger pool by burns casino on the boardwalk, the limos parked in front. I also loved the way you got the picture to show your entire section, I couldn’t figure out how to do that on an iPad Pro. Back to the point, your town is awesome so what are you talking about.

      • You’ll have to trust that I wasn’t fishing for compliments, but I do appreciate your kind words nonetheless. As for stitching the photos, I used a program called bimostitch on my Kindle. It’s not great, but it’s functional. Not sure if they make an iOS version.

Mine is nothing fancy, which will make everyone else look even better

    Happy Easter Sunday, Tappers 🙂

If you’re in the U.K……..you should have put your clocks forward by now. 🕐 🕜 🕑

This means that your daily challenges (and railyard on Tuesday) will reset at 9am 🕘

    🙂

  14. I know a lot of you put in the time and possibly money to create your strips. For that you deserve credit. Unfortunately for me, I absolutely hated this event. I can not wait till it is over so I can put everything in storage.
I felt like none of the buildings “fit” with the rest of the town. And subconsciously a lot of you felt the same. Hence clearing out SH to make your strips. SH just like the land of krust just don’t fit.
I’d even store the 2 casinos we had previously if it wasn’t for the characters being stored as well.
Just bleh, bring on the next event. Sorry I didn’t participate in the show. I really enjoy them. This one just wasn’t for me.

  15. Here’s mine…first stitch job…stayed up until 1:17 am to get this done. (A motion capture of my fountain area will have to wait.)

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/iccpd4lxiecifa4/File%20Mar%2027%2C%201%2015%2019%20AM.png?dl=0

    • Well, I was scrolling up from the bottom, and knew that was yours before seeing your name
      🙂

    • Love your work Sandra!

And even without the ‘motion’, I love love love your fountain feature 👍👍👍

      Nice!!!
      😄😄😄

    • Fantastic fountain feature area. I’ve been thinking I’d like to add a “fountain show” area somewhere in my strip (which is fairly basic right now) and I might have to borrow some inspiration from yours. I love the lights around the fountains.

And to all the other entries – Wowza! There are some pretty awesome Springfield-Vegas areas – it’s impressive how many different and creative ways people can lay out a set number of decorations and buildings so they’re area looks unique.

      • Thanks! It’s better in motion, because I have the fountains going off in sequence in a circle and the lights change colors simultaneously. (I picked a picture where they were all purple, because I thought that, in a still image, it was the most flattering next to the Brittania.)

    • I’m LOVING the lights on your fountains. Brilliant and really adds that Vegas feel!

  16. @Jhonny8787 — I swear I thought I tried placing the sequence fountains on water early on, and it didn’t work for me… now, seeing yours, ala The Fountains at The Bellagio (nicely done!) I may have to rip my Strip and start fresh!

  17. Everyone, please take a look at mine. I’ve worked really hard on having all of the Springfield heights territory, tons of golden fences, ornate piers and a bunch of walk of fame stars.

Hopefully you can see it here (didn’t know where else to upload it):
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/tpnfb3eiklyt9yf/Photo%203-26-16%2C%2019%2052%2043.png?dl=0

    • Really nice!! Love all the gold fences. I do NOT have the patience to craft SH stuff very much. Nice use of the exclusive resort too 😊

      • Thank you. I appreciate that!

It took me a loooooot of time to achieve a nice SH. I didn’t want to at first, but it’s not something you can easily ignore like I do with Krustyland.

This event has given me the last piece on the puzzle I needed

  18. Great looking designs everyone!

  19. great designs, everyone!! Pimp, I saw that light feature in your town and my jaw dropped! Brooders, your hedges made me giggle in the best kind of way! I’m particularly impressed with how everyone used the colored spotlights, so cool!

  20. W00t mine made the cut (DearthNadir). Love all those Vegas Strips, some ideas I may even steal to modify my zone lol.

@Carter305g How did you make that glowing effect?

  21. Thank you so much for the inspiration Addicts! Time to nuke my town and start afresh.

  22. Nice work all. Amazing to see all the creativity that went into these – I love how the same buildings are used in such wildly different ways!!!
    👍👍👍

Busy ‘stealing’ inspiration everywhere – this is going to be one post that I look at again and again and again…

    Thanks Alissa!
Hope you can now have what remains of the Easter weekend with your family?

Apart from moderating all the comments this post is going to generate, that is… And posting tomorrow’s Open Thread… And moderating the usual Sunday comments on the Open Thread… And the post that the event is ending that some people will miss and blame you because they didn’t get to craft A, B & C… And preparing the posts for what ever is coming next… And… And… And… Ok, I’d better stop because it sounds like you might get about 15 minutes with your family – enjoy! And thanks again.
    😄😄😄

But just in case you think you have it tough, I now have to go completely rework my strip to include all new ideas I have seen…
    😊😊😊

    • I nuked my town a while ago… still slowly piecing it back together. REALLY slow.

      • I am having same issue…during the last lull I too,, decided to nuke it. Probably out of boredom more than anything! Man,, It still is in mid-design,,,really am digging that new feature that lets us move a block of stuff. VERY helpful!

      • Hey Bunny
I don’t think I’m brave enough to nuke SF and be faced with a completely blank canvas – too intimidating.

Maybe one day I will but until then I am on my knees in thanks for the ‘cut and paste’ tool! Had to move my airport/space centre to accommodate my strip and even just moving the biohazard walls which surround it would have taken hours…

I live in fear of ‘accidentally’ pressing the nuke button (or my cat doing it for me!) and suddenly being faced with an empty sea of green… I have pressed it by mistake once or twice and my heart has stopped beating until I’ve said ‘No!’ Do you get a couple of chances to back out or if you hit ‘Yes’ the first time is that it?

        • Lol. Yes… like 3 times to say NO.

It’s hard. To have a blank canvas and start over. Was fine with a Lil town n not much going on… but now a massive open space, tens of thousands of items in storage, and event after event… I need to find the time to redesign. I keep playing with “ideas”. Like throwing paint at a canvas and seeing what sticks. I’m gonna decide on a 3D image and go from there.

          • Can’t wait, 🐰 🐇
If anybody hasn’t seen Bunny’s 3D art, go right down the bottom of the flickr pages (back in time) some of that old stuff is breathtakingly jaw-dropping

            🙂

          • Very, very glad to hear that! While I have parts of my SF that irritate me at times, thanks to the ‘cut and paste’ I don’t think I will ever need to nuke the whole thing – I can just store the parts that irritate! 😄

If I nuked it I would find it so difficult to remember all the buildings and decorations that were in my inventory so would constantly need to move things because I had forgotten about this building or that decoration which just HAS to go here but got ‘lost’ in the inventory…

Makes my brain hurt just thinking about it…
            😊😊😊

    • Bunny keeps beating me to the comments lol. We’re getting some good family time in 🙂

      • Glad to hear it 😄😄😄

I truly do not know how you cope with a family, work, at least two Springfields, and us!

        Whats your secret?
I have three theories at present… Either you can move at superhuman speed (Superwoman? A female Flash?) or Hermione lent you the Time-Turner or you are just really, really organised! Obviously I would prefer it to be one of the first two… 😊😊😊

        • I’m giggling as all of can think of is me dragging Alissa through both sites of the Harry Potter Wizarding World at Universal Florida and her just shaking her head at me the entire time as I geeked out about things. 😛

I actually saw a really cool time Turner there… but not $1000 cool (Dang theme park money traps)

          • I would love to do Harry Potter Wizarding World but definitely no time-turners for me if that’s what they cost!!!

$1000 = R15450,80 which is basically what it would cost to fly to Miami from South Africa!

If I won the lotto last night we’ll have to meet up there and you can show me around!
            😄😄😄

            • Lol. They had some less expensive ones. It was supposedly “used on set” one and thus the huge cost. Others were around $50 to $100… which is pretty normal for jewelry. Or some plastic ones and metal Keychain ones (that I did get) for around $15 – $20

The “Butter Beer” frozen was great. We didn’t make all the rides as one broke down and another was a 3HR wait. Didn’t make it through all the shops either. So much to see. Then there’s an entire Universal park on top of it to see. Definitely a 3 Day trip to experience it all. We only had one. Lots of items to get your money for sure all around

          • You’re a bad bad bunny…

You just had to mention butter beer, didn’t you?

Got me thinking that if I can’t get to Harry Potter Wizarding World maybe I could bring a little of it here – by making some butter beer myself…

Didn’t know the can of worms I was opening…

Googled recipes and found a couple – all using Cream Soda. This puzzled me because it didn’t sound nice at all – and wouldn’t look like I remember it from the movies…

However, I then discovered that American Cream Soda and South African Creme Soda are very, very different… Yours is clear or golden in colour and generally vanilla flavoured. Ours is bright green and rose/floral flavoured. Not the same at all and you can see why I didn’t think it would make good butter beer! (But it is so good at fixing a hangover it’s nickname – which even made it into Wikipedia – is the Green Ambulance 😊)

So now I have to first make American Cream Soda so that I can then make butter beer. This will be tricky because, never having tasted American Cream Soda, I will have no way of knowing if my homemade version is right. So if my butter beer doesn’t taste good I won’t know if it’s because of my attempt at Cream Soda or if the recipe for butter beer is no good…

And it doesn’t end there because the site with the recipe for cream soda also had a recipe for a chocolate mug cake (my current new favourite thing to make) so now I will have to try that version too. And then there was a link to a chocolate fudge icing for the mug cake which sounds really good so will probably try that too.

            See what you started?
            😄😄😄

        • I know the secret Mike,
I’ve said it before, it’s NOT three people, it’s three TEAMS of people who work in shifts, ….Alissa, Bunny, and Wookie are just the names of the teams that staff are allocated to on the shift rota, so the a.m. Alissa is a completely different person to the p.m. Alissa.
          🐣 🐇 🐤 🐰 🐥 🙂

    • You should have stayed up all night Mike, you could have re-worked and been back here by now 🙂

      • I would have but I haven’t even remotely finished ‘stealing’ inspiration from these designs. Only been through them twice and reckon I will need to do it another two or three times at least!
        😊😊😊

Fortunately I’m on leave for the week so I’ll have time to play 😄

  23. This was the first time I’ve participated in this type of event. I’m impressed with the efforts that have gone into each design. It will take hours before I’ve taken in all the details.
Thank you-to the sites admins who worked on putting this together.

  24. Really good work everybody,
    Especially Kevin, and Ellie
    🙂

  25. Love the show off so many clever ideas I would never have thought of. Very good idea to have it early, now I’ve seen it I know I want more of the coloured spotlights and star tiles, neither of which I much thought I needed. Thanks for sharing.

  26. Phew! That took a while to look through each one and pay attention to the details… Shout out to all my neighbors who participated, and anyone who enjoyed seeing my designs. ✌

  27. I thought we had until the end of today to submit. 🙁

    Hi Bunny,

I would like, for the first time, to add a graphic and you did discuss in general how to take the photo and post. I still don’t understand how to capture my screen on my Note 5 and how to make it visible by you and your team. Please help, thank you.

    • Basics of “Screenshot” on Android Devices… (owners manual is best to verify)

When taking a Screenshot, wait… let all the “pop ups” clear off the screen to give the clearest possible image empty of clutter. Like the task lists or menus. Then at the EXACT SAME TIME, press and hold the power button and the “home” button (bottom center button). Your device will then take a screenshot.

Then you can use pretty much any pic sharing app like Dropbox, Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, etc… to upload your pic to and then share that link by posting it in comments here. Or there is always the method of posting it on our Twitter, Facebook, or email us.

      In short…
      Take Screenshot
Upload to a Pic App or Location of choice
Copy and paste the App link to the comments section OR Email it to us OR post it to one of our public sites.

Here’s some old school posts to give you a general “How To” idea.
      http://tstoaddicts.com/2013/09/28/addicts-how-to-using-dropbox-to-upload-tsto-screenshots/
      http://tstoaddicts.com/2013/09/27/addicts-how-to-taking-screenshots-of-your-town/

      Does that help??

    • On the play store there are apps that can put a floating button on the screen to make it super easy to take screenshots. Just a lil fyi to help if you’re not aware.

      • The New Galaxy 7 comes with it built into the game to capture video, screenshots, etc.

        • Oh..that sounds really cool!! I’ve never really had a problem taking screenshots the old fashion way (lol)….but a lot of ppl seem to struggle with it.

  29. Some really good ideas out there. I’m not done trying to organize yet

  30. Just a reminder for U.K. readers, don’t forget our clocks go forward tonight 🕐=🕑 🙂
