Wild West 101: Town Plaza Level Up (Act 1)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Time to hitch up the wagons and head out west, because the Wild West has hit our Springfields! With bandits to tie up, guns to sling, gold to pan & gold ole’ Homer getting everyone all riled up!

With so many layers to this event, it’s easy to get confused with what’s going on.  But, that’s where we come it!  To guide you through the ins and outs and break it all down in a manageable way, that anyone can quickly understand.

In this post we’re going to break down of leveling up the Town Plaza, for Act 1.  By the time we’re done you’ll have the ins, the outs & and the know how to fully understand just how upgrading works for Act 1.

So let’s get to it shall we?

So this post is pretty simple, because honestly leveling up for the Wild West is the simplest leveling up we’ve ever seen!

To level up for this event, at least for Act 1, you simply have to tap bandits…and that’s it.

bandit02 bandit01

Leveling up doesn’t require turning in resources.  It doesn’t even require thinking about it…it just happens, as long as you’re playing the game as you should be.

So here’s a quick break down of each level for the Town Plaza and what it does…

You’ll start off at Level 1.  At Level 1 in the Town Plaza here’s what’s available:

-3 Hideout locations for Bandits: Simpson House, Flanders’ House & Kwik-E-Mart (the Wild West Film Set too if you’ve spent the donuts)

Note: If you have Multiple Kwik-E-Marts, you will only earn Bandits from 1 of them.  The others will pay cash.

-4 Bandits every 4hrs from each Hideout.  This symbolindicator_wildwest_bandit. means you have bandits available at a hideout.

-Tasks at the Town Plaza for: Homer, Apu, Bart, Cletus, Lurleen (if you have her), Rich Texan/Belle (if you have them.  And they alternate tasks.  Rich Texan can ONLY earn Hats & Belle can ONLY earn Pickaxes).  Also, if you’ve purchased Buck McCoy he’ll have a task there too at Level 1.

To upgrade to level 2 it will require you tapping 20 Bandits….

2016-04-25 11.18.03

Doing so will unlock a task for Marge at the Town Plaza…

2016-04-25 11.18.13

To Upgrade to Level 3 it will require tapping 150 Bandits (after you’ve upgraded to Level 2)

2016-04-25 11.05.29

And doing so will unlock 1 more Bandit to Spawn from the hideouts.  So instead of 4/4hrs you’ll earn 5/4hrs.

2016-04-25 11.05.40

To Upgrade to Level 4 it will require tapping 300 Bandits (after you’ve reached Level 3)

2016-04-25 11.05.56

And doing so will unlock the ability to have Gummy Joe do tasks at the Town Plaza…

2016-04-25 11.06.12

To Upgrade to Level 5 it will require tapping 500 Bandits (after you’ve reached Level 4)

2016-04-25 11.06.16

And doing so will now unlock the ability for Bandits to Spawn from the Krusty Burger, so you’ll get 5/4hrs from Krusty Buger (Note: only 1 of your Krusty Burger’s will pay out bandits.  The others will pay cash)

2016-04-25 11.06.29

Once you’ve reached Level 5, during Act 1, you will not be able to upgrade any more….you’ll see this in your Town Plaza:

2016-04-25 11.06.35

So EA has capped us at 5 Levels for Act 1.  Once Act 2 unlocks you’ll be able to upgrade an additional 5 Levels & the same is true with Act 3.  So there will be a total of 15 Levels for the entire event.

The best part of all of this?  As long as you’re playing as you should be, simply clearing bandits when you can…you’ll upgrade without even thinking about it!  And add new benefits to your town with each upgrade.

So don’t stress about upgrading, it’ll happen naturally and on it’s own (litterally there is nothing to turn in or click.  Once you reach the required number of bandits your Town Plaza will automatically upgrade.  It’s about as autopilot as you can get!).  So simply play the Wild West Event, tap those bandits, earn that currency and you’ll be fully upgraded in no time!

And that my friends, I believe, covers the full rundown of Leveling Up/Upgrading the Town Plaza for Act 1!

What are your thoughts on upgrading?  Have you played other events where upgrading was more of a chore?  Are you enjoying this new format?  What level is your Town Plaza?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Anyone know why I can no longer assign my Rich Texan to general store tasks to collect hats or pick axes? Thank you for your help!

  2. I have not yet got the barber shop and bank with only 3 days left till the end of act 1! any tips on getting enough clues because at this rate I will only get the next hat amount.

Also I have a theory (and its annoying). For the first 4 days I had my plaza producing hats because I kept running out. However my Pickaxes kept rising. I decided to change it to producing pickaxes and now I have 3000 hats and only 5 pickaxes!

My theory is that the daily crates will make you spend more of the resources you are producing in the craze, ergo you can never get a good amount of both unless you constantly change the craze.

Luckily I have a solution (which I just discovered a bit too late). If you have the hat craze going, put homer and 2 others (not Apu) on the job to get hats. Next with Apu, start the pickaxe craze. By always having a different craze at the end of each 4h, you will have produced equal (because 1 hat is equivalent to 2 pickaxes) amounts and will constantly be switching the daily hand-ins! tell me your thoughts on this.

  3. After I unlock the rib joint is there a reason to keep earning hats and pick axes? Seems like EA would change it up for the next act so early finishers of Act 1 wouldn’t be able to hoard.

  4. I keep having like 8000 pick axes and like 4 hats, and all my trade ins at the general store are for hats! I will never get rid of the stupid axes.

  5. Anyone know if its better to buy a major lot, or small bunch from general store?

    • The biggest one (the one ask the way on the right) gives you the best return on your hats and pick-axes. So far, I’ve had no problem doing my four daily trades just using that one (and can usually do a couple of extra trades, besides). Personally, I stop trading at a point in the evening when I feel like I still have enough hats and pick-axes in reserve (factoring in the next morning’s haul) to be confident that I’ll be able to complete the next day’s trades first thing in the morning.

    • You get a better return on the major crate.
      Pickaxes Clues per
      Tiny Bundle 192 60 3.20
      Standard Bag 320 105 3.05
      Major Crate 576 210 2.74

      Hats Clues per
      Tiny Bundle 96 60 1.60
      Standard Bag 160 105 1.52
      Major Crate 288 210 1.37

  6. Was hoping the plaza got visual upgrades too, At level 4 it still looks like a small unfinished thing which is a shame

  7. How do you unlock the other two daily challenges? I’ve done the first one but the other two are still locked? I’m not sure how they work!

  8. Was this really needed? I’ve been waiting for a Should I Buy on the Wilted Rose since the event launched. All of the other stuff you’ve posted about the event might be helpful to a lot of people, but everyone wants a Should I Buy. I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy it, but I like the breakdown before I commit. Before I found this site I got a lot of things I regret and having someone else break it down makes it easier to either commit or walk away from something. Even if you recommend not buying it. After reading that, I know if it’s really worth it to me.

    • I’m 1 person and I write 99.999999999999999% of the posts here. And answer 99.99999999999% of the comments. I’m trying. A lot of these other posts are designed to keep the comments down, since there are a lot of people still confused about how to play. You may not be one of them, but they do exist (I still have at least 10 people a day ask what the icon next to certain tasks is for). So yes, it was needed. I’ve had multiple requests for it over the last week.

The Wilted Rose Should I Buy is coming, most likely it’ll be up tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on the flow of comments. I can tell you it adds absolutely no value to the event itself. It’s just a building, with a character task there. It won’t earn you currency and it won’t earn you bandits. So it’s not time sensitive to purchase (like the Wild West Film Set or the Deputy Credentials would be). All you have to do is worry about the Act 1 timer running out, which still has a week left on it. So in this case it doesn’t matter if you buy it right now, or you buy it right before Act 1 ends, since it has no impact on the event. Except that if you have Belle it will pull her away from currency earning tasks…

I appreciate that you appreciate this site and the Should I Buy posts. But I hope that you can respect that there are others who need game play help too, and I try to address things in order of importance (which is why the Buck McCoy and Deputy Credentials Should I Buy posts went out immediately). Obviously if I posted a post about leveling up the day before Act 1 ends..it won’t make much sense. Everything we post is up for a reason. So I hope that you can respect that.

    • jay was this necessary? The time you took complaining & making Alissa took time away from here and her busy life! She is not required to post anything, she does it out of love of game & kindness to other players. This is NOT her job, she does not get paid. She has a baby, husband, house (she is moving) a full time job, and multiple injuries from car accident!
Your complaint she doesn’t have an insignificant post up. What’s your problem, and you figure out to play but yourself? Why not go to open threads on this site and ask general populace, someone would answer your question if you were nice about it. Or go check EA site.
She is not part of EA this is her own indeavor which she pays for and provides free of charge.
Alissa haven’t said in a few days, I think you are doing an awesome job, especially with all you have on your plate. Still managing to juggle and keep them all in air? Don’t let this person get to you!

    • Or you could, you know, learn to think and evaluate options for yourself.

    • I feel for your mother

    • Yes, it was really needed for some folks, based on comments I’ve seen in other posts.

  9. Talk about playing like Ralph!

  10. I’ve KL glitch – nothing coming from there at all! Good Luck to those getting multi bandits. I can’t seem to get any at all!

  11. tapping bandits in neighbor town adds to the total??

  12. Anybody else experiencing really weird glitches as of late besides the general store crashing which started for me earlier today. A whole bunch of past quests popped up with the character dialogs that go with them that went as far back as quests from Christmas. When they stopped popping up, my task book went from 4 to like 16 and then they disappeared after I closed the game and reopened it. Also, maybe all the items that will be available during this event were available in the store for a brief period of time and then they eventually disappeared. The last weird thing that happened was the start of Act 2 quests where my Town Plaza now has a jail and I started receiving guns which I’m pretty sure is a part of Act 2. So far the only thing affecting my game progress is not being able to use the general store without crashing (which i heard is happening to others), and I’m not getting any notes/maps? from the bandits so I’ll wait and see if there is an update to fix it.

    • I had this happen, and they just reset my game to the Thursday save :-/

    • Exactly the same has happened to my game, you are not alone!

    • So I guess that if we will earn guns in Act 2, it’s better to spend all of our pickaxes and hats before Act 1 finishes. Or we’ll still have a use for them, maybe, with a multi-currency crafting system just like Monorail. What do you guys think? What’s “in the files”?

      • You know I won’t tell you what’s coming up in Act 2. We never do because EA has the right to change their minds. Play until you earn all of the prizes. There are NO Bonuts, so once you earn the prizes there’s not much point to turning everything in except to get the daily prize from the General Store (and that only requires 4 hand ins a day). So you’d just be collecting empty clues.

    • Same thing happened to me, too; I’ve now got a jail in the town plaza, and Snake is busy with a task that provides guns. (There was another glitch that jumped ahead to the next part of the event, and the currency for that looks like it’s going to be dynamite.)

In addition to getting prompted to start a half-dozen old events, I also got a prompt to place Barney’s Bowl-a-rama again, which I’d bought during the space event. I got the donut rebate for that again, too.

  13. I logged in 3 times during the afternoon today (between midday and 5PM) and the Krusty Burger refreshed its bandits spawn all 3 times. I know this wasn’t some “server didn’t save your data” problem because I earned currency for all 15 bandits. Is this a known issue? Or I am the only (lucky bastard) experiencing this?

  14. I’m loving how much of a breeze this has been so far, my barbershop & bank is almost done building. (4hour build time after placing & yes they are 2 separate buildings)

I’m just impatient that I’ve hit a wall on plaza upgrades & waiting on that last piece of the act1 final.

    • Same thing happened here other than getting any guns.
I did receive a second bowl-o-rama at no cost along with 130 donut rebate for “purchasing” it.
Thr extra quests dissapeared after 24 hours and kept my bowling alley and donuts.

  15. I have seen comments on switching the craze so all characters are earning pickaxes or hats, but I am unable to do this. It doesn’t really bother me. I am doing just fine without it. Just thought I’d mention it. 🙂

  16. simpsons rules

    On level 4 town plaza

  17. Is there any physical change to the Town plaza because it still looks the same to me. Or is it just the new bandit places? Thanks

    • Looks the same throughout Act 1.

    • Hi, my plaza looks different. The right hand destroyed building has a jail there now and I can collect guns with a task for snake. I think something has gone wrong with my game, since this morning my game crashes if I try and hand in reasoures. Also loads of new items appeared in my wild west store to buy (they have since disappeared) they included 3 versions of the deputy credentials card, for 30, 60 and 90 doughnuts, and a costume called prairie Maggie. Also loads of old tasks appeared with their dialogue from tap ball, Halloween, Gil’s deal snowglobe etc. I have no idea what’s going on, I hope my game isn’t broken, I’ve been playing since the end of the whacking day event. Hello to everyone here by the way, this is a great site.

  18. I have Bell but not the Rich Texan, do you need both to have them do tasks?

  19. Wish all events were like this, no materials needed to upgrade the main building, no crafting other than the daily hand in, and no struggle to decide how many of x material do I need to make sure I have enough to get all the items since usually 3-5 use the same material up.

  20. It is so nice to read about everyone else enjoying this event. Hopefully EA will fix my game soon (it has been over 4 days since the General store crashes began, they told me they are working on it) and I too can join in on the fun. Trying not to be bitter, but I really like this game, and to have it betray me like this is maddening.

  21. Any idea when the look of the other buildings in the town plaza will change? I’m through level five, but both of the adjacent buildings still seem to be under construction.

  22. Great write up. Anyone else have a Krusty Burger glitch? Mine pays out extra bandits. It’s in sync with the other buildings, but then about an hour later it’s ready again. Then when the other buildings are ready, KB is ready again. And on and on like that. Thought it would go away overnight, but I’m still getting bonus bandits. Whoop!

  23. I literally JUST hit level 5 and didn’t even realize it was the last level of act 1 until I read this 🙂 I think hands down the most painful level up concept was from Terwilligers. IIRC you had to level up both the Theatre AND the Monsarno building with the same materials you had to use to craft the prizes. What an awful awful system that was 😤

This is MUCH better. I feel like this event is kinda going back to the old days with no crafting (kinda) and no levelling up (the old way). Now if we had some community prizes it would really be a throwback event 🙂

  24. So, double checking here…there is no visual change to the saloon when upgrading. Correct?

  25. Brian Q. Lehmann

Bandits also spawn at some rate in your town. I’ve checked the forums and previous posts and can’t find anyone saying definitively what the spawn rate is, what the max bandits in town is, and if there’s a bank.

Knowing that can really help me figure out how often to log in to maximize those bandits! 🙂

  26. I’m surprised the town plaza isn’t changing visually with the upgrades. I had expected the ruined buildings on the side to be repaired as the level increased. I’m hoping that it’s a glitch or that we’ll get some visual upgrades in the remaining acts, because I’d like to build a good-looking old-time Springfield after the event is over, and the ruins ruin it for me!

  27. The timer for the Krusty Burger is glitched. Going to KL, or friend’s page, or restarting seems to change the time on it. It’s not really a problem and I think it’s actually been advantageous at times. Just another glitch. 🙂

  28. I wish we could put cars on the road!

  29. Been stuck since day 2- can’t turn in trades at the general store- not much you can do to move forward in the game! Supposedly it is a known problem but so far nothing been done to fix the problem.

  30. Nearly at level 4, can’t wait for the Krusty Burger to give Bandits. It will be a huge help! I am actually really enjoying the upgrading this time. It’s a lot better than the casino update when you had to upgrade your crafting level. That took way too long for me! At least this is quick and easy!
