Sci-Fi Springfield 101: Crafting Prize Breakdown

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The nerds have invaded Springfield!  Ok just one nerd, and he’s not all that bad.  And only in Springfield can Professor Frink, with the help of Homer, open up a black hole that transports doppelgangers, robots and Stephen Hawking (!) to our pocket sized Springfields!

Love it or hate it, EA has proven over the last year + that crafting is here to stay.  While the prizes themselves are pretty self explanatory, collect this to earn these prizes, crafting is a whole other “animal”.  Crafting requires some self direction.  You decide what you want and collect the items to craft accordingly.  Sometimes this is successful and sometimes it’s not. And, as with all things, for some events crafting is easier than others.  This event is a combination of a few different techniques we’ve seen in the past (Leveling Up (Casino Event) and 1 Item for Crafting (Superheroes 2) and adds some new dimensions (Future Bucks).

Earlier in Act 1 I broke down how to craft, the details about Future Bucks, Robot Parts, Demos and more.  You can view that post here, especially if you’re confused about Future Bucks.  Now it’s time to break down all of the crafting prizes.  What each does, how many you can get, size and more.  So let’s get to the long awaited crafting prize post….

Once you’ve unlocked everything and reach Level 19, the MAX level, you’ll unlock the ability to trade Robot Parts indicator_scifi_robotparts for Future Bucks indicator_scifi_futurebucks.  The conversion rate is pretty bad though…it’s:

500indicator_scifi_robotparts for 50indicator_scifi_futurebucks.

Now here’s the common question many of you will be asking…What Should I Craft?

Here’s the deal…craft what you like/what you want.  You don’t have to max Demos out, if you don’t want to.  Figure out what you could/would use in your Springfield…but if there’s something you don’t want, don’t craft it.  What works for some, won’t work for everyone.

With this event there are a TON of awesome items available for crafting.  You really can’t go wrong with any of the items…especially if you’re making a multiverse/future area of your town.  So decide what you like and go from there.  Personally, I’ll be grabbing just about everything…especially the buildings.  It’s great that the buildings all have tasks at them.  Definitely worth picking those up.

So have fun, get creative and grab what works for you! 🙂  And remember…crafting is open for the ENTIRE event.  So there’s no rush to craft anything.  Take your time, collect your currency and plan out what you’d like to do.

And that’s it…the full breakdown of each crafting prize available for the Sci-Fi Event!

What are your thoughts on the crafting items?  Which items do you have your eye on?  Any you’ve crafted so far?  Plans for the items?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I have a quick question. Does the hyper bench count as a bench for jobs that require benches i.e Grandpa Simpson’s nap and feed the birds jobs?

    • I honestly don’t know. Sent all my characters on bench tasks but none went to the hyper bench. This doesn’t mean they won’t. A good way to find out would be to remove all benches except for that one and then send Grampa to feed the birds.

    • I’ve wondered about the same thing. I send someone close to one on a bench job but she chose another nearby bench, so I still don’t know.

  2. I try to play around every 4-5 hours except when i am sleeping.. but is still only at around 20600 with 2.5 days left.. i even brought rock star maggie and robo burns when they first came out.. i dont get why i still dont think i can reach the final prize in time.

  3. When I bought the Atomic Hula Hoop building for 1,500 robot parts, it didn’t carry over to the next level of crafting 🙁

  4. I’m finding myself and 90% of the Tappers (my Neighboreenos) are barely at 20,000 – an I don’t see any of us reaching the final Act One Prize (Secret Agent Skinner) that requires 24,000!!

I’m guessing the ONLY way you’re getting the maximum amount of Robots to tap / Black Holes generated is using Donuts (I must drink at tapping Robots – an I guess so do a majority of my Neighboreenos)!!

One thing we are all good at? Crafting !! I like crafting lots of Buildings that generate XP + Simpson $ – and it seems like a better pay off then a Character Skin (could that be why so many aren’t close to earnng what the Calendar suggests we should be at?)!!

    • I believe there is now enough posts to prove that this event is a real challenge to obtain the last item ( S. A. Skinner ).
Ok a 6 year old can manage to accumulate the dark matter but to obtain enough in the time frame is another “matter “.

    • I think it’s Frank Grimes. as a Freemium player I completed Act One three days early. I try to play every 4ish hours except at night and I certainly miss a lot. I already owned Frank Grimes and I got Roboburns during the event. This event was total cake for some reason and I’m super curious as it seems like loads of folks are struggling

      • I unlocked Sgt Skinner yesterday. I’m tapping 3-4 times a day. I only have Rockstar Maggie earning extra currency. I’m too lazy to tap in friends’ towns.

Thanks for the post on crafting, I will be getting the buildings and some trees, I think. I hope to get an area done before the show off!

      • I dont have Grimes and getting all the prizes on the prize track was super easy.

    • Odd. I’m dead on track and haven’t spent a single donut. Did the questline. Visited friends 3ish times (i only have 20 or so) and importantly i think got 2200 out of 2 daily quests 1100 each. I should earn him some time on tuesday

  5. maybe I missed this : so I only need 550 parts to level up and have the 1500 parts I need to get something I really want. If I get the 1500 item do I loose the 1000 extra robot parts or do they carry over to give me a head start on the next level?

  6. Gonna save up my future bucks now and splurge it on buildings that generate $$$ at the last minute of the event. Lol

  7. Since I didn’t quite understand at first, I stupidly spend a few hundred robot parts on upgrading. I feel like I’m behind on parts- we get so few in relation to the other currency.

I’m not too worried about not unlocking everything yet. I just wish we got more parts per robot squish.

  8. How do you actually spend future bucks? I can only seem to be able to spend robot parts.

    • Tracy - 1ltwoody920

While some things are unique, others can be purchased multiple times. The flowers can be purchased (I believe) 12 times, each time for 40 Robot Parts.
THEN, you can use future bucks to purchase additional flowers.
The description will tell you how many purchases are required (Demos) before Future Bucks come into play.
      Clear as mud? 🙄

  9. How do you spend future bucks? I am able to spend robot parts but can’t figure out how to spend future bucks. I’ve been trying to complete this daily challenge but can’t.

    • Check to see how many “demos” are left. Out of the nearly 20 items, only 5 are unique…meaning you can only craft one (1), using robot parts. The flower, for example, requires 12 purchases utilizing robot parts before you can spend future bucks. Once you satisfy this requirement t, you will be able to purchase an unlimited amount of flowers with future bucks.

  10. Yesterday I had 10 business convention center on my Springfield heights all maxed out at level 5 today I stored them for about 5 minutes to make rooms for the mall o rail station that I decided to place in Springfield heights and when I placed on land again the convention centers I find out that they became 11!? 10 maxed out and one at level 3 anyone know what happend? Anyone has the same situation?

    • There have been various glitches with the SH buildings. For instance when I had stored them (this is about a year ago) some would completely disappear, but I was able to buy new ones from the SH section of the Store. I can’t remember if it was the completely leveled up ones, but that’s why I have extra Modern and Classic Mansions.

  11. All the craft items are great, I just think the buildings are way too big… I can’t put them anywhere that look normal! :/

  12. Why does Cookie Kwan need two 10hr tasks!? I wish the office towers had a 10hr for a different character. As an aside, I wish the Office of Unemployment had the option of sending characters on 10hr tasks (I often like the associated animations 😉

    • TechnoTrousers0

Yes! They should update the Office of Unemployment to have slots for every job length. I don’t care if only a couple of characters can take advantage of it at a time. It would really allow for maximizing earnings when targeting a “return to game” time, like when going to bed.

    • I agree, that was a lost opportunity to give that task to another character.

    • Came to say the same thing. I have over 100 characters in my Springfield, why could they not give it to one of the others? I love 10 hour tasks for when I go to work. My shift is 8 hours, but you have to count travel time, so I am gone 9 hours which is when you can rush the 10 hour task for free. Minimal task time wastage.

  13. Really love the luminescent plants and I’ve crafted loads lol

  14. I am still confused…don’t you need to craft all the demos with robot parts to unlock additional levels for crafting? I used some future bucks, but it didn’t seem to count towards leveling up and if I don’t craft multiples of items how will I unlock items I would like more?

    • I’m with you. Seems to me you have to craft (almost) all the demos in order to unlock the next level for crafting. The only other way is to spend robots parts for leveling up only, which is a waste. This way forces you into buying multiple of things you don’t really want. So far, not a fan….. Unless I am missing something, too?

  15. Looking forward to completing a future world section of my town (next to West world). The more buildings I can craft, the better. I’m closing in on Sgt. Skinner. Slow going for me right now. On vacation with bad internet. Probably not a lot of bonuts coming my way at the end of round one. Se la vie.

  16. Interesting version of crafting. Not my favorite but far from the worst. Like the way you don’t have to use robot parts to level up. You do but at least you get multiples of some ok decorations instead of just being wasted on just leveling up.

  17. At first I didn’t want to get the street lamps and signs because eh. Now I’ve adopted a “gotta craft ’em all” attitude because I want a kick butt future area. Things change. You never know WHAT you’ll want after the event!

  18. There’s only 1 or 2 items I want from this list, but thanks for all the info.

  19. I am looking forward to unlocking the trees. I pride myself on having a Tree City USA Springfield, with lots of botanical variety. 😀

  20. Are you sure the Parcology is 11×3? It looks somewhat bigger than that…

  21. In the past, my strategy was to hoard crafting currency until the end and spent it when I was ready to build my new section of Springfield. Technically I can still do the same, but after accidentally clicking on that useless upgrade button and wasting robot parts, I craft when I get to that upgrade amount. Right now I’m just getting 2 of everything. Planning to get as many buildings as possible for my future Springfield section. The holo trees and flowers are cool, but not planning to get too many of them cause you can still use freemium trees and flowers to decorate future Springfield, even though it’s technically not supposed to have real trees according to one of the Simpsons episodes.

  22. I would add that Mobile dome seems to be from the movie E.T. – I expected little E.T. to peek out.

  23. Well poo, I thought that the Parcology was going to be a building that paid out.

  24. Are future bucks only used to acquire additional items once you’ve completed the demos or should future bucks be saved for something else in a later Act?

  25. Is Parcology really only 11×3 in size? Typo?

  26. The street lamp is animated. When you tap it, lights travel up the rings.

  27. Thanks for this post – very helpful in planning crafting strategy. 🙂

  28. I reached level 11 this morning. Still need a couple hundred parts for my first hover car. Then the sky’s the limit!

  29. Thanks Alissa ♡
    A sooper dooper post!

  30. I am maxing out the robo parts on all the buildings that give out $$.

I am holding off on using the bucks (unless a daily tasks ask me to) until the last few days of the event.
Mainly because, I know I am going to want multiples of the townhouses, which I still haven’t unlocked.

    My method:
I save my robo parts for items that give out $$, once maxed out, i move onto the next one or get a smaller (robo) priced item to help me move up a level.

I personally like the crafting this time around. I love the bucks feature, because I’ve been collecting it from the beginning and it’s really an extra currency. So I’ve just been hoarding it.

I’m also trying to build a future area in my town.

    • Totally agree with you! Very similar to what I’m doing, except once I’ve got the $$ buildings, I’m splurging on decorations for 2 reasons;

      1, to get my crafting level up, and;

2, To improve my vanity and tree hugging rates
