Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So, here is your Open Thread…..

Act 1 of the Sci-Fi Event ends on Tuesday morning, are you ready for Act 1 to end?  Excited at what Act 2 might bring?

Speaking of the Sci-Fi Event…what are you planning on doing with your event items?  Creating a dedicated area of your town or working stuff into your Springfield?  Or are you just planning on throwing it all in storage when it’s over?

So the second tunnel for the Monorail arrived last week, make any major design changes?  Have you worked the Monorail into your town successfully?  Does it loop?

How was your weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting?  Personally, we spent the weekend down at the Jersey Shore.  The last chance we’ll get to do so before summer ends…

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  2. I’m back, finally able to speak to a human at EA and they were able to restore my progress through about mid Thursday so I am a couple of days behind the prize track. Also, received a “sorry about that” complimentary tray of donuts which will probably be spent on catch-up if need be. Overall satisfied with the outcome, minus the stress level of possibly having to start from scratch and losing all my friends. Good to be back!😅👍

  5. Yippee! I have just redeemed another $10 iTunes gift code from QuickThoughts and have amassed over $100 in credit (all earned from QuickThoughts) and will be able to buy my first ever BOATLOAD of donuts! However, since I’m currently pretty flush with donuts, I’ll probably wait to pull that trigger until I need to.

But it’s awful nice to know that I have that in my back pocket, so to speak! 🙂

    • I only have $1.80 on QT (sure it’s been a month, maybe) but I think I’m not exotic enough to be qualified for these surveys :/

      • I dunno about that…. I’m definitely not exotic…my demographic isn’t particularly hard for them to get, I don’t have any children, and I’m not a big shopper. Accumulating that much took a fair bit of time – both calendar time and actual time. I probably would have gotten there sooner, but there were lots of days that in just didn’t have the time to check in.

Still, free is for me, and, as I’ve mentioned before, if/when I do spend that much on donuts, I won’t feel guilty about it (like I might with Amazon credits), because in really don’t have much else I’d want to spend iTunes credits on anyway. (I prefer to buy my music on physical media and transfer it to digital and I rarely, if ever, spend money buying apps or in-app content.)

  7. Hello Team TSTOAddicts!
Well, I kinda wanted to give a few thoughts, like PatriCOG, I see much stress in the struggle achieve EA’s latest TSTO goals.
I’ve been freemiumly tapping away at TSTO for nearly three years now, and I have many neighbourinos (hi all 😉 here whom know I have my episodic ups and downs.
But I’m really conflicted, and from the sounds of it many of you are too! I have been pretty happy with EA’s donut ratio lately, f’instance I managed to purchase with hard tapped donuts the future Burns / Smithers combo, and I now have 52 sprinkles already from various tappiness 🙂
However, I’m on PatriCOG’s side as far as the necessity to tap to achieve the final Act 2 bonus. And I agree it really doesn’t bode well for Act 3.
I’ve been more active in TSTO world recently, mainly due in part to content. I really liked the first Superheroes event (Spiderpig!!!) and appreciated the ability to expand my Zenith Future City, to the extent it takes more land than my SH. The recent event speaks to me again, and has given me that same fun-factor of earlier events with mini games like the tower-tap, I think it’s really smart the progression to more advanced robots that need double taps, keeping you pensive for what’s waiting in Act 3.
And they have a possibility of a Cube appearing in your Springtania! What more could I feckin’ ask for !?!?! 😉

  8. I came here seeking some information… I no longer care about the info I seek. But now the rest of my night is set.

I guess I’m going to play pong pong at my neighbors (Ben’s) house.

  9. If you have Digi Ben in your town, please place it in a far away corner and don’t tap it. Also leave a reply here to let everyone know you are doing that. I’m doing it, so feel free to enter and exit my town as many times as you like to receive a nice surprise. Keep your eye on the lower left hand corner of the screen as soon as you enter.

  10. Anybody else think it would be cool if we got a donut bonus for referring friends to play the game? I think 10 donuts per friend referral would be fair… 😀

    • Seems more like the number would be 5 (we win 5 at the Rail Yard) or 3 (the standard top prize for bonuts). I think a bonut box would be neat (with a minimum win of 1 donut).

How do you think they’d keep track of your referrals?

  12. Okay have read many comments about getting donuts etc., I know that actual cash is diffcuflt for some or may be a quest for others this is a game wonder about that. I look at it as entertainment, I do spend some actual cash on this game & am not sorry that is much less than my annual cable bill. My time is more important to me than doing what I have to do to get donuts. & with that said I do not spend money on another internet game.
    & thx

Just finished the railyard for this week, and was awarded my 3RD tunnel. Thought you were only supposed to get 2. Oh well wont complain.
    Happy tapping

    • I believe that’s right, that you’re only supposed to get 2. I wonder if you’ll also get a 4th one! Otherwise it’s only good for a non-looped track system.

Did you have the tunnels stored when you won the 3rd one? Or were they both placed?

  14. Why hasn’t anyone posted how annoying Arnie Pyne in the helecopter is when trying to tap around town. Always liked it when visiting other friends but no fun in your own.

    • I have, I avoid doing it at all costs.

    • Many, many, many people have posted about that (just not recently). But you’re right…I always thought he looked cool in my neighbors’ towns and would have gotten him except for all of the comments I’ve seen about how annoying he is to have. He seems to be number one (or close to it) on the “regrettable purchases” list!

    • I thought he was cool for the first few months I saw him in neighbors towns but I find it really annoying when trying to tap robots. I’ve seriously considered dropping friends who have him because he is so annoying. I’m really glad I never bought him.

  15. I know I’m not the first to say this nor will I be the last, but these events are becoming more and more tedious. So far I do like the prizes for Sci-Fi more so than that of the Super Heroes Sequel. I am actually making an effort to earn them, unlike the last event where I just wasn’t inspired to tap it out to earn everything. Super Heroes Sequel was the first event in all my years of TSTO that I didn’t earn it all because I didn’t try, and I hope Sci-Fi doesn’t fall into that category. Also, I am hoping the next THOH/Halloween event brings some fresh ideas and play mechanics. The Halloween events usually set the bar for the following year of events, so we’ll see. I don’t know how many more of these formulated and regurgitated events I can endure, but I’ll keep tapping because…well… I’m an addict.

Now that I have vented, I need a little advice. I spent all my sprinkles on Grimey for fear that after this event he would be gone. Now that there is a deal on Frink (after years of tapping still haven’t picked him up), I figured this would be a good time to farm some donuts. I currently have about 25 donuts, 32 million cash and I’m around level 120.
Should I go with a one day XP multiplier or longer? Can I earn the 200 donuts in one day with 32 million cash? What would be the best item to buy and sell, blood mobile, KEM? Any advice or suggestions to maximize my efforts is greatly appreciated.

    • If you are able to diligently tap for the next 10 days, I think if you do the math, the 10 day option gives the best bang for your buck. 10 days at 25 donuts, or one day at 5 donuts, you are saving yourself 25 donuts if I did the math right.

      • I’m not looking to max out my level. I just want to get enough donuts (200) to get Frink and his Lab along with his lady bot. I know the 10 day XP multiplier option is the better value for donuts spent vs the one day, but is it possible to earn 200 donuts in one day with just $32 million saved and starting at level 120? And if so what is the most efficient way to do that? If not, how can I reach my goal by investing the minimum amount of donuts necessary? For the most part I am a freemium player, and I want spend as few sprinkles as possible.

        • From what I understand, there is no “maximum” anymore, sure there’s a cap level, but then it keeps going, so not an official cap. Best way to maximize your donuts is KEM farming, been mentioned a few times on here, and I’ve mentioned it myself, I think in last week’s Sunday thread. As for it being possible with 32 mil, it should be, at least for the amount of donuts you are looking to obtain.

        • If you’re looking to only farm for one day, then rat trap trucks are the way to go. I don’t know whether $32M will yield 200 donuts, though… That’s kinda a lot. It also depends on what your XP multiplier is (including your Springfield Heights buildings hidden multipliers).

          Like

          • Actually, could you also ready a load of KEM and start 4 hours later, spend on some rat trap trucks while you wait for another load of KEM to finish, etc. No reason to not still do some KEM.

            Like

          • True, but only if the cost to build doesn’t significantly exceed your cashincome during that period. Otherwise, you’ll be eating into the cash reserves that could go towards rat trap trucks.

            Like

          • I could have a good reply to you, but it would involve math and numbers and I’m not doing that today, but my “feeling” is that KEM are STILL worth it even if considering they’d eat into the cash, it’s just that their main issue is the 4 hour wait and the space needed, not the cost/reward.

            Like

          • Are rat trap trucks better to use than bloodmobiles? Not including SH my cash/xp bonus is around 210%. How much bonus can you get from SH? Some of my SH buildings are in storage does that affect the hidden bonus?

            Like

          • The dollars-to-donuts ratio is the same on the bloodmobile and the rat trap trucks, but rat trap trucks are more expensive and smaller, so they’re more efficient to farm. And, yes – your Springfield Heights buildings need to be out to earn their hidden XP multiplier. (Items in inventory never help you do anything.)

    • Thanks all,
Got my sprinkles in a matter of minutes after starting up my XP collider for a day and buying bloodmobiles. It took about $30 million. I grabbed up the Frink deal and Springfield of Tomorrow sign right after and still have a 50 donut reserve. I also have plenty of time left on my XP collider, so I’m going to farm some KEMs and see how that pays out.
Again, thanks for all the info. Now let’s tap our way into the future.
