Turbo Tappin’ Sci-Fi Springfield: Act 3

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The nerds have invaded Springfield!  Ok just one nerd, and he’s not all that bad.  And only in Springfield can Professor Frink, with the help of Homer, open up a black hole that transports doppelgangers, robots and Stephen Hawking (!) to our pocket sized Springfields!

Act three arrived earlier today, with a whole new questline to work our way through!

As was mentioned on the rundown post Act 3 runs until September 20th, and you’ll need Hawking free to get things started.

Remember, the questline is there to guide you.  So when you get stuck on something, or haven’t unlocked something, just follow along with the questline and it’ll take you through everything you need to do to complete the Act and unlock everything you need in order to play properly.

So let’s take a look at the questline to see just what you need to do to close the black hole and FINALLY restore order to Springfield…

  1. This will be tricky. Judgment day 6 + return to status quo will be 40 hours to get evil homer. But it will also mean I lose almost two days of earning event currency for bonuts. Hmm.

Otoh it may be sufficient to start return 1 just minutes before the event ends.

    Hmmm

    • Can almost count on a required store update to remove the event, so you may have time.

    • Yeah, I’m not a fan of EA doing an end-around the bonuts system by making us choose between the storyline and maximizing bonuts. I hope this isn’t a trend.

  2. What the heck???
Lady bot no longer earns event currency when you get to Status Quo Pt. 1?

    • Josephine Kick@$$

Nope, she just goes about her tasks lookin’ pretty 😂 I know, I was hoping she’d earn until the event was over too.

      • I am not going to complain with the end of act III and how EA is doing away with bonut harvesting, but if I buy a premium character that is supposed to earn event currency, then it should earn until the end of the event.

        • Josephine Kick@$$

Matthew, are you telling me I won’t be able to farm KEM’s any more? Dang, I guess it’s back to panhandling for iTunes cards again, it was fun while it lasted 😁

  3. Return to status Quo Part 3 is only 4hrs. Yeah!

  4. Does return to the status quo pt. 4 require Homer? I see the payout looks to be for two characters.

  5. Ugh – after two years, you’d think I’d know better than to do anything in the game before advancing the questline (or checking this post) to see what’s next! I played the mini-gabe as soon as I got into my game this morning, so as to restart its clock as soon as possible, not realizing that I needed to do that for the questline, once I had Homer free. So, now I’m four hours further behind than I needed to be. 🙁

On the other hand, the burning buildings are fun… Who knew you could step into the burning rubble of a Kwik-E-Mart to still get an Itchy and Scratchy lottery ticket? 😉

  6. Did I miss buying evil Homer?

  7. Sooo, if you haven’t Finished part 4 / started part 5 yet and you will be getting a Maggie search in the near future, get Maggie first. She’s a might bit difficult to find on a burning roof.
(hopefully she has her flame resistant nighty on.)

  8. Do the robots keep appearing until the end of the event? Will we be able to do scifighter throughout? I’d like to complete demos for all the craft able buildings and I need another 1500 robot parts or so.

    • Yes. The only thing you can’t do once the questline is over is send the Homer’s on their tasks.

      • Danny(dannythoma899)

so is it a good idea to not complete the final part till the last day, enabling you to carry on earning for bonuts. Just a thought

        • No.

Once you defeat the Mecha Hawk and unlock the last prize your Homer’s lose the ability to earn Anti Matter. No matter what. And odds are, unless you lose at the sci fighter game every time, you’ll have this happen automatically.

          • Actually, this is not entirely accurate. I’m at Judgment Day Pt. 6, I have earned the Mecha Hawk, and I can still send the Homers get Anti Matter. The problem is I have already sent Hawking to Ponder a Solution, and I fear the Homers won’t get any Anti Matter after Hawking is done with this task. I should not have sent Hawking do this. I suggest others avoid this until close to the end of the event to earn more bonuts.

          • Danny(dannythoma899)

OK Thanks Alissa. Homer hanging on for grim death right now. Love the trousers. Got to say you and the team do a great job

          • As a PP mentioned, I have MechaHawk & am still able to send AlternaHomers (& Hawking; not sure if LadyBot’s still there) to huck antimatter. I, however, have NOT sent Hawking to ‘ponder a solution’ yet.

It appears it’ll take 40hrs to complete the rest of the questline to earn the “Evil Homer” NPC (*ahem* Dastardly! This is NOT Evil Homer! He should be named Dastardly Homer or something along those lines! *rofl*).

As there are still 4 days left to the Event, I figure it couldn’t hurt to delay beginning the ending (…?!) by 24-48hrs, thus increasing my chances of bonuts. Yes, there IS a small risk that I’ll muck it up & not get…the NPC Homer in the end, but it is a risk I, personally, am willing to make at this time.

Finished the Mooch Bart quest yesterday, the Chester Lampwick quest this morning, & I think President Lisa’s will be done by the end of the day.

            BRING ON THE BONUTS!!! 😀😆😉

  9. Wow, I must not have read something right. I thought when you hit max level on the printer you could change future bucks for robot parts. Just found out its the other way around. So I got 15,000 useless future bucks and might not get the two crafting items I wanted the most

    • Ugh, really? That’s what I thought too. We’re earning future bucks, which are difficult to use regularly, while spending robot parts all over the place. This was super ill thought out.

    • I’m in the same boat, now I’m bummed out.

    • Yeah future bucks are the most pointless idea ever in the game.

      • I spent my robot parts on crafting the items I want, since spending robot parts on crafting also advances the crafting level. I’m not quite to the top level yet, but I’ve finished demoing almost all the items I want to craft, so I can only craft them using future bucks anyway.

  10. Surprise there is fire in Springfield.

    • Yeah, what the heck! I’m assuming it won’t ruin my town since I JUST used the polyvac right before the fires started….

  11. Got the first two prizes for Act three, put both in inventory. Wish we could have gotten Future Marge or something like that. Will see how the last prize is. Looking forward to some down time.

    • The last prize is rather blah as well – it’s just the Mecha Hawk you see in Act 3’s SciFighter battles, floating around your town as a NPC. :-\

Might have been more interesting if they’d made it a skin for Hawking instead. Oh well.

  12. Morning Tappers.

Hey, Alissa! And Bunny!, since this request is calendar related. Anywho, I was wondering how difficult or time consuming it would be to add completing the quest line to the calendar, or to this or another post. Since it looks like it’s a squeeze to complete the line, it would be helpful to have a ruler against which we could measure our progress in finishing it by the end of the event. Just asking. Thanks.

    • It’s hard to judge the questline, because it depends on how many characters you have/what you’re doing to earn anti matter. I can tell you I’ll likely have the last prize tomorrow and start the final part of the questline then. Others may not have it until Saturday…so it’s hard to line it up.

  13. I’m ambivalent about the Sci-Fi event. Bart in the mech-suit, some of the more funky looking buildings and moments of the dialogue have made it interesting; however, like too many of the recent events, it gets samey after Act 1 and a lot of the crafting/prizes aren’t things I’d choose to add to my town. It is only the fact that I am a completist that makes me want to continue.

However, the best thing about the Sci-Fi event is that when it ends we get the HALLOWEEN event.

    Best EVENT ever 🎃

    • From your fingers to EA’s eyes…

Let’s hope they have some fun new stuff in store for Halloween!

    • For me the holiday events like Halloween are the events where I get the most amount of things I end up putting in storage. For the simple fact that they are seasonal. It feels odd having Halloween stuff in my town during winter or summer. Maybe I’m weird but I liked most of the items we got in this event and will be keeping them up all year long.

      • Steven, I understand your point about the more generic items having more relevance across the year; however, I personally like Halloween, thus the things for that event always appeal to me.

One thing I do feel strongly about – and it ties in with your comment – is that we should be able to save different versions of our towns. This option would allow you to re-design your town, based on the season, and save it. You could then change your town and revert back to previous designs as and when you wanted to. At the moment, ‘nuking’ the town is a daunting process and, imho, most people avoid it because it is all or nothing!

I wish EA would add a save function.

    • I’m hoping the Halloween event has some neighbor interaction. I like when I can help out my neighbors and know which ones are reciprocating visits. You also have an advantage when you have more than one town. Are you listening EA?

  14. Can someone tell me what the “Anomoly” is? I need to tap it in my neighbors town for the Daily challenge. Thanx kids 😊

  15. I have fended off Mechanical Hawk lots of times but it’s not triggering the script. It’s stuck on that task. Anyone with the same issue? Is there a secret trick?

  16. The sooner this sci-fi is over the better, its so boring and who on earth came up with this idea? I mean Stephen Hawking really, scraping the bottom of the barrel if you ask me! There are so many more characters that are regular or semi-regular that have not been added yet. I dread to think whos next, Rupert Murdoch and Fox probably!!

  17. Wow, this event is same-o, same-o
I am happy it is only one week

  18. Hi! Dont understand how to ” Use the PolyVac to Fend Off Mecha Hawk”. Thanks for helping!!!

  19. So then… what about the Evil Homer it shows in the ‘Interdimensional Travelers’ character collection??

  20. It’s too bad that we can’t keep the alternate Homers or at least the skins if we don’t already have them.

  21. Wow, that’s a lot of 8 hour tasks! I’ve got Bart on task riding around in the robot right now, and it’s so cool!

    • Most of the 8 hour tasks run simultaneously i.e. the alternative Homers.

      • Oh, I thought you had to complete one set of 8 hour tasks, finish, then start the next which would take a full day as I counted three of them.

        • You’re correct, LynnZ – it’s the entire collection of AlterHomers doing an 8hr task, and the do an 8hr task 3 separate times (taking just over 24hrs if you were able to tap exactly the moment each is completed). 🙂

  22. I have sooo many future bucks and I can’t use them because I need robot parts to unlock the items first. I’m on level 19 but now I don’t know if I’ll have time to craft all the buildings on time. It’s also hard to find robots now.

    • All you literally have to do to get the robot parts is click on the PolyVac every 4 hours. It instantly clears out ALL the robots in the town AND the “bank”. Thus 80 parts every 4 hours/time you play the mini-game. It’s been like this for the entire event.

      • I do that 4 times a day and 1800 away from Homers future house. Haven’t crafted hardly anything because they are so stingy with robot parts and I have 17k future bucks that will be worthless because event will be over and never enough robot parts to unlock all the craftables. They really are stupid sometimes

        • Hi there! Did you know that using those robot parts to craft items counts towards your upgrade level on the 3D printer? Just craft items and how ever many robo parts it took to craft that item, will count towards the upgrade for the 3D printer

        • kiwivillan, how are you 1800 away from Homer’s house if you haven’t unlocked all the craftables? It’s the second to last craftable to unlock. It’s late, maybe I’m too sleepy to be reading. Lol. But when you craft, those parts go towards leveling up. How did you get so far without crafting anything? I’ve crafted nearly all the demos. But at least one of everything, since it levels you up as you craft. I hope you’re not spending robot parts just to level up. 😕 if you are, stop! Craft things. It works the same way towards unlocking everything.

          • Oh well too late. I only upgraded to unlock levels :’-(

          • I think they mean they have not completed all the demos required to purchase the items with future bucks. I have a similar problem, and there are only so many vacation to Venus billboards one town needs, but I chase over 17000 future bucks as well.

        • Darn it! I’m sorry. I would have been doing the same thing if i hadn’t read the crafting post here. Since that is how EA usually does it. Bummer. 😕

          • I was lucky and only wasted 40 robot partson level upgrading. Regardless, I also have 18k in future bucks but I have hardly completed all the demos.

I am 430 robot parts into Homer’s house. I wish I coukd trade future bucks for robot parts, not the other way around.

      • If you press the PolyVac you lose any robots remaining in your town. You lose out on any robot parts. You only get 5 parts for each category. You should really try to get all the robots walking in your town before you press the PolyVac.

        • Not true… the polyvac just does the collecting for you. I get the currency and robot parts for 80 robots every time I do the Sci Fighter.

        • Incorrect. You get 1 Robot Part per Robot manually tapped. Not 5. Thus the payout of 80 Robot Parts when you start the mini-game is the same payout with a lot less time and effort looking for and tapping the robots. I even double checked this by finding and tapping a robot in my town just now before clearing using the PolyVac.

  23. Dissapointed in the lack of Supreme Court Justice Bart. Can’t believe they left him out.

Also: I would love the chance to get Futurama characters back again…

    • Now that we have Mooch Bart, I hope we get Supreme Court Justice Bart as a skin for him. He can have all of Bart’s adult roles … but tbh, it looks like The Simpsons are trying to standardize the ‘canon’ future now which includes Bart marrying Jenda, Lisa+Milhouse+her bratty daughter, Homer and Marge getting divorced before he goes underwater, etc. All future episodes seem to follow this storyline now, which sucks because … well, its an awful storyline. I want them to go back to every future episode being completely different.

    • WE NEED BENDER!!!!

  24. Somethings wonky in my game. Nothing kicked off, yes everyone was free. Hawking never had a quest at all. When my four hours were up, I had 2 robots in total instead of 80.
    Help?

  25. Looking over this, is there going to be enough time to complete the quest line? Since it basically doesn’t move forward until you unlock all of the prize track and you need 40 hours after that. I can see how it will be really tight for some folks.

    • It is doable…just tight

      • So, now I’m thinking that I can’t go to bed until I can make up for screwing up when I jumped the gun and sent the alternate Homers to plunder, before I triggered the questline. It’s already after midnight and I’m giving a big(ish) presentation tomorrow…I need sleep! Ugh. 🙁

        • I did the same thing. I sent them to plunder, to make sure to get that out of the way. Then I see what they want me to do, and I’m all “d’oh”!! Hope you got some sleep!

          • Definitely not enough (I did stay up to tap and then I had trouble falling asleep anyway…nervous about a presentation I had to do today, I think…), but I’m more hopeful for tonight! 🙂

  26. not gonna lie, i don’t care about ANY of the prizes in Act 3. Maybe Bart’s robot at most. I don’t mind skipping out on this last bit tbh.

  27. Josephine Kick@$$

I’m glad you do the walk throughs, it helps me a lot since I tend to jump the gun and send the wrong people on tasks when I’ll need them 😂
    Thank you! 😊

  28. At least we get to use the alternate timeline Homers to get all the act 3 prizes before we send them back. 🙂

  29. I wonder why Act III is so short. Are they planning something else in those 2 weeks? hmmm….

  30. If I don’t complete status quo at all would I keep the alternate Homers
