The Art of TSTO: Springfield At Night

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s time for another post in our “Art of TSTO” Series.  This time we’re taking a look at night mode.

Ever wonder what our pocket-sized Springfields would look like if TSTO had a night mode?  Come on I know you have, who hasn’t?!

Our good friend Toxicshark has once again taken to photoshop to do some amazing, and detailed, work exploring that TSTO would like with night mode. After seeing a few awesome shots from Toxic I knew it was time for another Art of TSTO post.

So I asked Toxic to send me some of his favorites and I’d feature them here at Addicts.  And here’s a collection of what he sent…

Note: Night mode is NOT a feature in TSTO.  All of these photos were created in Photoshop to give the illusion of Night mode…

I love this one of the Monorail!

And of course you can’t have Springfield at night without the Simpson’s House!

I really love the perspective of TSTO at night and I hope, one day, EA adds a night mode to TSTO.  Of course I doubt it will happen, but I can still hold out hope 🙂

Great work Toxic!

How about you?  What are your thoughts on the artistic shots?  Which one is your favorite?  Do you do anything like this for your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. ToxicShark these picture amazing and cool I think we should make a night mode button

  2. Episode tie in update just came in. Lots of premium items in store, plus quest line to win a few buildings, which includes a new lard lad donuts.

  3. Maybe some sort of event where there is a nuclear meltdown and the whole city goes dark!

    • Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose? Night mode is interesting because of the light effects from lamps and buildings. No power – no lights at all. Tapping in total darkness can be a bit hit and miss 😉

  4. These look absolutelt incredible! We definiftely need a nighttime Springfield, and also a feature to switch to daytime if I wanna decorate in the evening. Another idea with the monorail, there should be a feature to exchange rail peices, like use two S-Curves (or two Curves, or two half pieces) to craft one straight piece.

  5. I’ve seen these before. Always brilliant. A feature I always wanted.

  6. Wouldn’t it be great if we had a Wizard of Oz event where the Simpsons could all be the characters and a cyclone would sweep thru the town every four hours and we had to tap buildings before it hits to save them? Now that would be a cool weather event!

  7. Love, love, love! I would special request a rendition of a casino area at night though. That would be amazing. 🙂

  8. Loving this!!!! Awesome ideas!!!

  9. Absolutely stunning!!! It would be awesome if EA could incorporate a night mode, even if it is just for an event if it isn’t possible all the time. Well done 😀

  10. Brilliant, Toxic!

But now I’m depressed because we don’t have night mode and my SF doesn’t look as good as yours and I don’t have any views of my SF at night and then someone mentioned weather stuff so now I want to be able to make it rain and snow and drizzle and shine in my SF but even more then that I want night mode and it’s never going to happen and I didn’t win the lotto and Brangelina are getting divorced and so I’m depressed…😞😞😞

And now I’m back to feeling fine again 😃😃😃
    Great work!
    😄😄😄

  11. Oh, night mode is real alright. All you need to do is hold your device upside down over your head. While simultaneously patting your head and rubbing your stomach, hit the power button not once, not twice, but thrice. On the third hit, also press the home button. Viola, night mode! It might take a try or two to get the timing just right. 😉

  12. Amazing job u did there toxic 👍

  13. Great images, Wish this would happen.

  14. I’ve been hoping for a long time that EA would give us a night time event or something, but Holy Moley…….WOWWIE……after seeing that I want it even more!!!! Amazing! Great work!

  15. Heh, that’s funny, just yesterday I thought it would be nice to have an event where we would get a night time Springfield.

  16. Wow! Well done Sharky 🙂 I love your amazing art work. My favourite parts are the windows on the church and bad dream house and the little lights on the bridges.

Come on EA … we want night mode 🙂

  17. That is way cool and it would be neat if there was a night mode.

  18. man, why yall playin… lol my first thought nighttime was actually out

  19. Buona Sera Patti! And all! I agree with a nightime Springfield. Wow! You have done an amazing job Toxic. Comgrats!
A recent episode of Simpson Will start in 5 minutes here in Perth, Australia. So just a little time for a chat! Then it’s bed time for me!
    👍💟👍💟👍💟👍😀😀😀😀😀😀

  20. I really hope that EA runs a ‘weather machine’ event one day. It would be a great way to incorporate something like this and I really prefer the autumn and winter tile sets over the default.

Also a good way for people to differentiate themselves from their neighbors… I love the neighbor visits, but sometimes they all blur together when everyone is working with the same event items.

  21. I saw one of these on your flicker page and I must say I am impressed: )

  22. That was fun!

I understand that they couldn’t make this a permanent feature since we’d all have to have MASSIVE amounts of memory on our devices, but since for events we usually replace at least a good portion of our SF anyway, I’d love it if one THOH was done like this! I’ve heard the objection that it might be too hard to navigate (can’t see) but the way this was done, it doesn’t seem like that would be much of an issue at all!

  23. Those look amazing. Wonder what some of the fire effects, like Charcoal Briquette would look like at night?

  24. Man, that is awesome. And what the heck, EA…we know you read this site: Let’s get a nighttime option for Halloween! What is trick-or-treating without darkness? A bunch of weird kids begging for candy in the daylight, that’s what it is!

  25. Absolute genius to have done this, perhaps you could work on my resume photo?

  26. These are beautiful. Would love to see the school, all dark except for one window, like a teacher is working late. Vegas would look incredible like this too.

  27. I’ve been hoping for EA to add daylight phases to the game at some point for years now. I still hope that my well distributed street lamps will be useful one day.

  28. Like the night mode idea!

  29. Those pictures are fantaistic. It never ceases to amaze me how creative some people can be with their Springfielnds.

The main reason I can see that EA would not introduce a night mode is that it would have to offset itself in all time zones and that might be too difficult a problem to overcome.

    • I’m thinking night mode would be more manual than that…players would have a button they could tap to turn it on or off.

  30. *Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!* WANT! WANT! Want EA to figure out an Event where it’s Springfield at Night! I know they already have this years Halloween ready to go, but THAT would be fun!
I LOVE everyone’s creative input! Thank ALL of you! (And yes, I speak in exclamation marks in real life. I’m Italian. Can’t help it!)
    ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😜
