Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Welcome to the Monday after Thanksgiving…or for those outside of the US the first Monday of Advent…that can only mean one thing…CYBER MONDAY!
Today’s the day where internet shops alike will have special deals on hot Christmas presents, or just random crap you think you need, and they all better be offering Free Shipping, at the very least!
Not to be outdone, TSTO’s getting in on the action with a Cyber Monday “deal” of their own! No shipping required! Just when you think you’re done, they pull you back in….
Marge: Well, we survived another Black Friday unscathed.
Homer: I got a little scathed.
Lisa: Uh…aren’t you guys forgetting something?
Yes, that’s right my friends. Black Friday wasn’t profitable enough for Ol’ Gil so he’s back on Cyber Monday with a Gil of a Deal for you…
You’ll see him roaming the streets of Springfield doing his best to get your attention…
And when you tap on him you’ll hear his latest pitch to get you to part with some of those delicious pink sprinkles…
Gil: It’s Cyber Monday! Because the one thing Black Friday needed was more of it!
Marge: Haven’t you done enough? This rampant consumerism has alienated us from all our friends. Or in my case, acquaintances.
Gil: Who needs friends, when ol’ Gil is selling the Friend two-point-oh! He’s a companion, butler and paperweight, all rolled into one.
If you pass…
Gil: Fine, who needs you! Gill will keep this little buddy for himself. You an’ me will be inseparable, ol’ chum.
C.H.U.M: I’m not supposed to be here. Please reconsidered. And shower.
If you accept…
Gil: You won’t be sorry. When the robot apocalypse comes, you’ll have a man on the inside!
So ol’ Gil is offering us an item/character combo this Cyber Monday. For 175 donuts you’ll get, The Yard Work Simulator, a decoration offering a cash and XP bonus, and C.H.U.M, a full character with a questline and set of tasks.
Let’s break this combo down by weighing the pros and cons in a Cyber Monday Should I Buy Special…
Decoration/Building: Yard Work Simulator
Character: C.H.U.M
Donut Price: 175 Donuts
Bouns %: Yard Work Simulator Earns a 3% bonus on all cash and XP
Size: 4×6
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +400
Offer leaves stores December 1st
Pros:
-Comes with a questline for C.H.U.M
-C.H.U.M is a full character with tasks, premium earning (50% more)
-C.H.U.M has some hilarious outdoor tasks
-C.H.U.M has two sayings when tapped
-Bart has a 4hr task at the Yard Work Simulator, earns $260, 70xp. (You have to tap on the Simulator to see it, won’t appear in his task list…)

Cons:
-Expensive, very expensive
-Two of C.H.U.M’s tasks require Martin (12hr and 24hr)
Final Thought:
Premium
For those premium tappers who have been playing for a LONG time, the event has been fairly disappointing for new items. Sure Connor Grant made an appearance (and the snare), but beyond that it’s been fairly slim pick’ins for premium tappers the last 2 weeks. This is finally a new premium combo available. And honestly, I’m having a hard time finding negatives with it (beyond the price). It offers a decent bonus %, a premium character with a full set of tasks (and a voice) and the decoration has a fun visual task for an existing character. I recommend this one for premium players who have the donuts to spend…pick it up, I did. (just remember Christmas is coming…so if you’re low on donuts (like 250 or less) and don’t foresee another donut infusion in the near future you may want to pass, and see what Christmas as to offer)
Freemium
(for the record I don’t consider XP Farmers with 800 or more donuts to be freemium at this point)
As I said above, I like this combo. However, it is WAY over priced for a character/item combo. So freemium players, I would pass on this one. Wait and see what Christmas brings, as there will likely be better (more canon) character combos to spend those donuts on.
Of course in the end the decision is yours, I can only tell you what I would/wouldn’t do…and in this case I picked this combo up. But I’m a long time premium player who spent very little over the last 2 weeks in premium currency. Just remember, whatever decision you make, this is limited-time, so be sure to make your final decision by December 1st, when this will leave our games.
Here’s a look at the Turbo Tappin’ questline that comes with C.H.U.M and the Yard Work Simulator:

And here’s a look at C.H.U.M’s tasks…

What are your thoughts on the Cyber Monday Combo? Will you be spending donuts to bring it to your Springfield, or have you already? What are your plans for the Simulator? Have you grabbed any other, non TSTO, Cyber Monday deals? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Do you have to finish the short quest before Bart is available to do tasks there? When I tap on it the tasks for Bart don’t seems to appear
Re read the post
-Bart has a 4hr task at the Yard Work Simulator, earns $260, 70xp. (You have to tap on the Simulator to see it, won’t appear in his task list…
Um, Alissa?
They said that they tapped on the Simulator, not Bart. FWIW, I get the same result (nothing at all shows up,) and I’m not yet done with the quest.
Sorry that’s what I get for moderating comments while driving. Lol
Yes.you have to finish the quest
While driving?!
Please don’t continue doing that lol. We don’t want you getting hurt and no comments are that important. (I know you’re going to ignore this and continue doing it, but I thought it was worth a try)
Lol only at long red lights. But I try to get through as many as possible so I don’t always read the posts correctly
Yeah, agreed. We don’t want one of the other mods giving us bad news.
Stop moderating comments while driving….your life (and the lives of others on the road) means MUCH more to us than not having to wait a little longer for our comments to get moderated!
(Sorry – I know I’m not the boss of you, lol….so, maybe I should have phrased that as a request?)
Uhm….I’m moderating too! Lol. Just sitting here…not driving my couch. Promise!
Don’t do that while driving in Holland. If caught you will be fined. This fine is €230 which is $245. As tourist you will have to pay the fine on the spot.
It’s a ticket here too.
Even in tapping on the simulator it doesn’t show the option for Bart’s job though.
Yea that’s on me. You have to finish the questline
No worries! 🙂
I like it, but the timing is just bad. Gotta save donuts for Christmas. If they re-release it I’ll definitely pick it up
Until I remembered it was called linguo I thought it was the grammar correcting robot Lisa created and homer loved until the mafia caused it’s head to explode I originally thought this was that until the quest line started and I heard it speak. Still enjoy it though
I just remember mainly loving
Homer: linguo dead
Linguo: linguo is dead
Homer:Noooooooo!!!!!
And the mafia getting wound up of course
This is why we can’t have nice things!
I was waiting for this post. Now I will just wait for Christmas content.
Thank you for the SIB. I passed.
Very pleased with my decision to get Grandma Simpson, she was the most interesting character and offer during the Thanksgiving event and surrounding sales for me.
Saving bonuts for christmas event now.
…got it.
About farming and premium/freemium:
I prefer the word “farmium players”😆
Love it! I am SO going to promote the use of that word! 😀
I hope you were being sarcastic about the unemployment office bc you can’t be that clueless. It allows you to send all characters on any hour task you choose. All you have to do is click on it. You can’t be serious.
SOLD! 😂😂😂 Thanks Alissa, I was waiting for your recommendation 😊
lol you just have to look in my town 😉
True! I didn’t think of that 😀
I really wanted this, but the 24 and 12 hour tasks require martin? ugh
On the downtime I do 24 hour jobs for everyone via the mass job tool, or 12 hour jobs if they can’t do 24 hour jobs (usually because they need someone else for the 24 hour job)
So for this guy the 24 hour one probably wouldn’t work because it would most likely do martin first, and I couldn’t do 12 hour job for same reason, then I’d be stuck forever using the 8 hour job for this. Lame
I know it probably doesnt matter now, but I have Wind Lad & Citizen Solar from Superheroes 2; they have a 12hr task together, & when I use the Unemployment Office to send everyone on a 12hr task, it leaves them behind & I have to send them manually.
They’re the only ones I have that have a task together, so I dont know if that’s how it usually works? I mean, I have other people that can have tasks together, but it usually involves a ‘core character’ (like Homer) that’s busy with something else & never gets sent to task via the UO.
Maybe someone else can say if it works for any other 2 character task other than WL/CS?
Citizen Solar & Wind Lad 12 hr task.
Yes, but does it happen for any OTHER 2-character task?
DOH!
It’s Robo Burns & Doggie Smithers 4 hr task 😂
I have the same situation with 4-hour tasks and Robot Burns and his Robot Dog Smithers (or whatever they’re properly called).
Doggy Smithers 😊 I love his 12hr Bark At Nothing task! I used to do the 4hr task with Robot (or is it Robo?)Burns, but it was hard to time it properly so I would be able to see them – for some reason, they’d always go behind a building! Argh!
BUT…that brings up something interesting: both ‘couples’ were sold together, so is that why they don’t get sent on their respective couple-task via the Unemployment Office?
I just sent everyone off on tasks, but I’ll try to remember to see if Homer & Fatov get sent out or not.
I suspect that it does have something to do with the fact that RoboBurns & DoggieSmithers have no other 4hr task, and Citizen Solar & Wind Lad have no other 12hr task. So, yeah, Martin would probably sent off on his other task, leaving poor C.H.U.M.my behind. But, we’ll see! ☺
Fatov gets left behind if you send everyone on 1-hour tasks, because he needs Homer. It’s a pain….I have to remember to find Fatov first, and send him to dance with Homer, before I send everyone else on 1-hour tasks via the unemployment office.
Ah, then yeah – it definitely would send Martin & leave CHUM. Annoying. Oh well! 😯
This isn’t immediately calling to me, especially since I still have quite a few “regular” character combos I’d like to get. But I’ll reserve my final decision until I have a chance to see it in one of my friendvilles.
Martin and Bart both have enjoyable premium skins in my town, so the tasks for them would basically never happen. That would mean the longest task for the chum robot would be eight hours, and not even visual. Total pass.
f xx channel is showing all 600 Simpsons episodes and the yard work simulator was mentioned today while homer was at the carnival. Another future prediction was yesterday episode “Much Apu About Nothing” when like Trump, mayor Quimby holds a vote to deport all illegal aliens. Season 7 episode 23. they also almost give away the position of Springfield on a map Homer points toward the mid west and Lisa standing off the east coast side points but gets blocked by Barts head. I was wondering if maybe its Springfield mass. about 65 miles north west of my location (Fall River home of Lizzie Borden) . It would also explain Quimbys JFK Boston accent
I didn’t realize the yard simulator had a 3% bonus so I did a pass. Now I’m thinking about it. The Do the Robot and Frolic with Martin tasks sound pretty funny. It’s not the greatest deal but I’m trying to increase my XP bonus from the current 435%. I was planning on getting the Hot Springs or Springfield Falls but don’t have enough for that and CHUM. I think I’m probably going to cave.
While I think it’s overpriced, I decided to buy it. It does bring back memories of one particular episode, which is why I wanted it. A while ago, can’t remember the exact season, there was an episode featuring a video game expo in Spingfield. They showed virtual farmville (and even a virtual virtual farmville if I remember correctly). This was before Facebook (who created Farmville) bought Oculus, the virtual reality headset pioneers, and subsequently almost ruined the company and virtual reality in general by being Facebook… anyway… Just another one of those uncanny future predictions that The Simpsons keep getting right, though not nearly as ominous as them predicting Trump running for and then becoming POTUS. Or when they predicted smartphones… Or the Mapple myCar (oh wait, that hasn’t happened…yet).
Thanks Alissa for the breakdown. As a freemium player I’m going to take your advice & wait for Christmas. This will be my first Yuletide event so looking forward to it.
If this is the entirety of the Cyber Monday sale, pretty disappointing.
I’m a long time player, but got the discounted building/character combos offered for Black Friday, so donuts are low and this is just way too overpriced for me anyway. Easy pass.
I just picked him up. I’ve been saving so long for Black Friday. I was hoping to get more character deals. I ended up picking up all the new and returning characters (I didn’t have any of them). Got a few other things but not much else.
The biggest problem with getting so many characters all at once is all the quests. Why do so many characters include 24 hour quests for Homer and/or Lisa?
And the worst are the “Make Springfielders do something” quests. (I’m looking at you Tribal Chief and Don Vitorrio). Thanks for totally breaking my Unemployment Office.
Trying to get all the quests cleared out before Christmas starts.
They could easily (I think easily at least, not sure about the coding involved) add an option to the unemployment office, “send all characters on x-hour quests”, but y’know probably will never happen.
The problem is that when you have a “Send Springfielders” task, the Unemployment Office won’t send anybody, because they all have active quest tasks, even if you only need 5 or so people to actually do it. There are a few exceptions, like Stampy, and Mr Teeny, who never seem to be included in “Springfielders”.
So until you complete that task, the Unemployment Office is useless.
Daily tasks do this a lot. There are a lot of “Send Criminals” or “Send Youngsters” tasks. I have 20 or more of each, and you only need to send 5 or so, but it blocks them all from the Unemployment Office until it’s done.
That’s why I said if they add a “send springfielders on a x number QUEST task” task, then that would resolve the problem would it not? lol
Very tempting, but after my wild spending spree for Halloween, the Most Dangerous Game, and Black Friday I think I’ll start saving up donuts for Christmas.
I got no premium characters to buy during the Black Friday deals. So I bought this.
Goes good with my futuristic area and I like the new character.
Meh. Not excited about it but not overly disappointed either. Since Black Friday offered nothing I didn’t have was nice to get something new.
Whenever I see Gil, my immediate thought is: here is going to be another too little for too much offer.
175 donuts for another robot and not a great looking decoration… pass for me.
Gil certainly does play his role of annoying, snake oil, salesman well.
Just doesn’t do it for me…one of those items I can wait till next Black Friday for. (You know he will be offered with a donut rebate at that over-the-top price)
Bring on the Robot Apocalypse! 😀
Psst…I said NO to ole Gil as usual so thanks for posting what he would have said if I crumbled. ..
Now we just need zombie monkey pirates and we are all set ♡
I think you’re going to have to start doing a freemium, premium, and “doughnut farmer” s.i.b. every time from now on. LOL 😅
I’m definitely a farmer these days. So I play “freemium”, but as a doughnut farmer.
I bought the C.H.U.M. “Deal”, because I had the doughnuts, but honestly- I think it was a good buy. Any new character is a good character as far as I’m concerned. I’ve nearly run out of characters to buy. The only two standard characters (full characters, not npc’s) that I don’t have yet is the yes man, and the unfinished shed and what’s-his-name.
I’ve really blown my wad of doughnuts over the last few weeks. I got: pow wow casino, grandma Bouvier, C.H.U.M., it’s a wonderful knife, and volcano lair, and hunting supplies store. Plus whatever I bought during the Halloween and thanksgiving events (most of it). At one point t I had 725 doughnuts saved up (from farming). In fact- I had to do a bit of the rat trap delivery truck trick to get even more doughnuts to be able to get everything. So now I’m down to 36 measly doughnuts, and $25 million in game cash. I’m going to have to continue with the intensive farming to build my doughnuts up again for the Christmas event.
I’m a farmer too, but I only keep a reserve of about 8 million cash…is there an advantage to a higher cash reserve as opposed to a donut reserve? I keep my donut level at no less than 1000 (except during events …way down right now) and bring in between 50 to 70 donuts a day (love those XP multipliers!). Why so much cash, if I’m not overstepping?
I always like to have extra cash on hand in case I need to do the rat trap delivery truck trick, or to buy more land. I’ve had as much as $75 million in the past, but these days I tend to keep the level between $20-$30 million. It’s mostly personal preference I guess. The most doughnuts I’ve ever had at once was the 725 stated in my first post. I tend to farm around 50 doughnuts a day depending on my level of activity in the game.
If you’re farming 50 donuts a day, how have you managed never to exceed 725 in your “bank” at once? That’s only two weeks’ worth of farming…have you never gone longer than two weeks without buying something? Not judging…just curious!
Hi Sandra. The more I think about it, I think I probably farm about 45 doughnuts a day when I’m really active. But I also get doughnuts from daily tasks, friend tapping, etc. I wasn’t making that many doughnuts until recently. My XP % has gone way up recently with a number of prizes and purchases. So I’m getting more doughnuts per farming round. Only a few months ago I was only making about 30-35 doughnuts a day. As for purchases……I buy almost all of the new content now. Plus- I’m still working on getting all of the standard stuff. Not to say that I buy everything. I don’t. I currently have no interest in npc’s, and some of the decorations. I still have quite a few stand alone buildings to get too.
So in answer to your question: “have you never gone longer than two weeks without buying something?” I guess I would have to say that these days I tend to be buying something at least once a week. It sounds crazy to me too. I’ve only been playing since the Stone Cutter event. And for the first couple of years, I really struggled to obtain anything for doughnuts. I remember when I acquired Frink and his lab. I was so ecstatic to have finally been able to buy my first character/building combo! Things have really snow-balled in the last year for me. Now you know why I’m such a big fan of doughnut farming. 😉
Oh, I hear you! I still don’t buy stuff I’m not especially interested or that take too up much room, but it’s nice having since disposable donuts for a change. You’re right…it was sooo different before! I really liked the term that…..oooh….I forget to look at his/her name!…coined, “farmium players”! 🙂
I’m looking forward to finally picking up some of the regular combos and characters that I still don’t have, now that I can stop waiting for the black Friday sale. I doubt I’ll get a lot of Christmas stuff, but we’ll see.
Thanks, hadn’t thought about land purchases…I only get new land opportunities now when an event adds a new strip.
Major benefit to cash reserve I can see, is buying entire strips of land as and when released.
It’s a good plan, I think that I will increase my cash reserve for the upcoming Christmas event (it took a few days to earn enough cash to purchase the land strip at Halloween). Thanks for the tip.
Is CHUM even a Simpsons Character? Forgive me, I should know this, but when he says “I’m not supposed to be here”, and to me, he resembles something from Futurama?
He’s from the show. We’ll have a Wookiee written WDTCF up on him 🙂
It’s from a fast forward episode in which Martin has created him as a date for Prom. It shows contempt for Martin and whenartin asks what his plans are for the future the robot responds with “travel” and when Martin asks if he wants a travel companion CHUM responds “travel cancelled”.. later we see Chum doing the “Robot” in which it’s speculated he’s having a malfunction.
Hi,
I was awaiting this SIB, thanks Alissa.
I could not agree more in terms of it being ‘slim pickins’ lately, if you are a premium player, and since I have some sprinklies, this should suffice so I went ahead and got C.H.U.M….. as I patiently wait the return of Kumiko. : p
I am a long time player, so I haven’t spent a lot of donuts lately, but even though I usually pick up every new character, I am on the fence with this one. Somehow, it doesn’t appeal to me at all…
If you’ve got the doughnuts, and you have all of the other characters, then you should get it. New characters don’t come along every day.
Talked me into it already 🙂
Meh. I’d prefer Lenguo (however its spelled….you know…Lisa’s grammar robot)
Sentence fragment.
