Quick note: Guys, as it explains in this post, this is about what you want to see (or not see) on this site in 2017…not in the game. This is a yearly post i do to get insight from you guys to help us to continue making TSTO Addicts awesome.
Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Well here we are..2017 and hopefully everyone is off to a great start! 2016 was such a great year for us here at Addicts. We saw tons of new events, new Addicts features (Addicts Live! anyone?), LOADS of new Players (we love you newbies!), hundreds of thousands of comments (we LOVE what you guys have to say!), and of course giveaways! And now we want YOUR help to make 2017 even better!
Here’s the deal….we want to hear from YOU…the most amazing readers on the planet….about what you love about our site, what you hate about it & what you think we could be doing better (or would love to see). Here’s your chance to sound off and let us know exactly how you feel, please don’t hold back (although remember we still moderate comments, so don’t be hostile). We want to hear it all…the good, the bad & the ugly. Leave us a note in the comments below about what you think. Not comfortable leaving your name? Not a problem, write it up as anonymous. Not comfortable leaving us your thoughts in the comment section? Not a problem, email them to us at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com.
We value your opinion greatly here at Addicts and want to do everything we can to make this site your favorite spot for all things TSTO, so please don’t leave anything out!
For example…Do you:
-want to see us do more Addicts Live?
-want more game posts, or less posts?
-want more of our personal lives or want us to shut up about them?
-want more 2D? Or less design posts?
-think we need guest writers?
The list could go on and on….Nothing is off limits, so please share your thoughts with us. We can’t wait to see what you have to say!

This site is amazing! Just keep on!
Love this site. Visit daily since 2013. My only qualm…
I’m all about the multipliers. I’m to 600% now. I truly believe it’s an important part of advancing in this game. I would like to see them added to the new item posts. For instance, both the tollbooth and the brother faith van have them, but it’s not mentioned in the post. Sometimes I don’t want to wait for a SIB. And sometimes the in game store doesn’t show it either. Knowing this info in advance often sways me to purchase or not purchase. If you can look back on the handful of times I’ve posted on this forum, It’s mostly “….and what is the multiplier for (x) item?”. Only part of this site that irks me is never enough attention to multipliers.
Yours Truly,
Darth Hucklebuck
I was curious to see if multipliers are addressed under the “tips and tricks” heading (if I were a newbie, that’s where I would look) and saw nothing that would indicate that topic is covered. I’m not saying that the info isn’t in there somewhere, I just wouldn’t know which heading to look under. Considering how important the XP multipliers can be to get ahead in the game (my opinion only), a tutorial on what they are and how they affect the game could be helpful to new players. If it is already there, maybe the heading could reflect that?
If it is in another section, maybe it could be moved to “tips”?
PS…this is not meant to be a criticism…you do an unbelievably great job of keeping us all on track and informed…Thank you Alissa
Less bias.
Bias towards?
I just feel when you guys have opinions (which is completely fine, you’re not robots lol) you tend to favour those who share the same. I find you’re more quick to sensor those who have opposing opinions and so forth. Either censoring or engaging in a more dominating manner. I found the bias to be when the Pride event hint and the readers were divided, but more so it has escalated this this event and Patric being so forward. I just feel if you’re running/moderating a site dedicated to the game, less bias should be in order fort hose who share different views. Apologies if it seems I am being pugilistic, honestly trying not to be. It’s just that with the (what I feel is) bias, I have felt less comfortable engaging in topics and commenting here.
I let every opinion get posted as long as it’s respectful and doesn’t attack anyone. Or as long as it won’t escalate into a war in the comments.
For example…comments saying “I love trump” and “I hate trump” all get deleted by me. During the pride event comments that went to far one way or the other both got deleted.
With the winter event comments got pushed that gave everyone their opinion even if it went to far for a few days then I started moderating them out. This was on every post except for patrics “I agree” posts because the point there was to wrote “I agree” only in the comments and move on. And both sides were represented there.
Trust me I don’t think anyone can tell what side I’m truly in for issues based on the fact that I got loads of emails from people yelling at me for being against “their side” during every controversial issue. So unless you know me personally I dont think you know where my bias lies 😀
I get that and totally respect it, and you’re right I don’t know you personally, I’m just speaking on what I’ve perceived and personally felt in regards to those situations. 🙂
Even though you didn’t send this to me, I was mentioned, and do want to reply…as this concept of “bias” is starting to get out of hand…not only on TSTO Addicts, but in the entire world. Social media has created an environment where gracious, open-mindedness has all but vanished. This last event was just a tip of the iceberg in regards to how the world seems to be sitting on a powder keg of emotions…mostly because people feel disenfranchised and irrelevant in larger issues that influence their lives. So, we cling to the “tribes” that give us some sense of recognition…and seem to feel it’s OK to attack or marginalize those with whom we disagree. It’s sad…and in the case of trying to moderate comments…really, really, really annoying.
First- let me state that as a “moderator” none of us are bound by some huge “Roberts Rules of Moderation” to allow every comment to go through, when we feel that it belittling, or will add to an already contentious situation. We can, and will delete comments that attack others specifically, or even generally, especially as it pertains to “getting off of the rails” in regards to answering basic the basic questions of game play.
Second…this perception that I am biased is silly. I went WAAAAAAAY out of my way in the last update to allow comments from BOTH sides to slide through…and even went so far as to write two, contrary opinions, based on the polarizing views we were seeing repeated (and repeated, and repeated, and repeated) in the comments, so that people could actually just “agree” or not. TWO VERY different views on the same topic…and NEITHER were actually how I really felt. I was fine with the update. I liked a lot of it (as I wrote in the year-end recap).
The post about Maggie and the Sheep was a joke. It was tongue in cheek. It was meant to poke fun at how serious we take the game, and the characters, and just how silly the whole debate had become. But, subtle humor is clearly lost these days. I will be FAR more prosaic in the future.
Finally……………When I write something (what Alissa calls a “color” or “filler” post), usually in a “down time” when the game is lagging, dragging, or being repetitive, I have been very careful to state unequivocally that is is MY OPINION and not that of “the management.” When offering an opinion, we should be granted the SAME privileges as the readers who have no issue whatsoever letting their feelings be known on virtually every subject under the sun. If you saw some of the ridiculously horrible stuff that gets directed at us…OVER A GAME…perhaps you would understand our “hair trigger” use of the “delete button.” I know that I have become numb to personal attacks…who feel it is their right to say, “Get rid of Patric,” or “We ONLY want GAME RELATED content.” They don’t know me. I don’t know them. So, personal attacks slide off of me like rain in the wind. And I’m from Oregon.
But, guess what? Moderators are people too. Doesn’t a moderator have eyes? Doesn’t a moderator have hands, bodily organs, a human shape, five senses, feelings, and passions? Doesn’t a moderator eat the same food, get hurt with the same weapons, get sick with the same diseases, get healed by the same medicine, and warm up in summer and cool off in winter just like a TSTOAddicts reader? If you prick us with a pin, don’t we bleed? If you tickle us, don’t we laugh? If you call us biased do we not get frustrated?
OK. Apologies to the Bard…but I hope you get what I am saying.
Alissa is a saint. She is FAR more tolerant of the disparate personalities around here than I tend to be. But, even as a saintly leader, who gives more hours a month than you can imagine to this community, she has her limits. Believe me…what we talk about behind closed doors would shock you.
But, here’s a slice of reality…There are tens of thousands of readers here every single day…who aren’t “offended” (or so completely game-obsessed), who stop by, read, and move on…without the need to offer up opinions, or denigrate others (including mods) who do. THOUSANDS (often tens of thousands)…every, single day. So, if we get impatient with people who can’t seem to keep life, the game, or other opinions in context or at least in some sense of perspective, we may actually delete a comment…or two…or three.
It’s a GAME. It is not life. It is not going to change the outcome of anything that actually means anything in the real world. It is meant to entertain and distract…at the very best…and suck a few dollars, and a ton of time, at the very worst.
FINALLY… Kevin…this was not directed at you personally. This reply was for ALL of the readers who need a sense of perspective and a larger view of what we face every day. Alissa has done an amazing thing here…trust me, as someone who battled her toe-to-toe for years, and finally succumbed to the “happy side,” I know.
But, Biased????? The only “bias” we have…is getting worn out and bored with the same entitled attitude that some players/readers seem to have.
There is a reason that TSTOAddicts has outlasted, and outshines virtually all of the “competition” (including the madhouse that is the forum) in the TSTO Blogosphere…it is Alissa…and her dedication to keeping people informed, happy, and content. THAT is her bias…
I am sorry that you had to be the lightening rod for this rant. It needs to be said…and I want EVERYONE to take a deep breath, and get a little perspective.
In Peace, Love and Hope…
Patric
Bravo Patric!! Bravo!!!
Patric – I appreciate all you and Alissa must go through. I don’t have a direct experience, but having been a contact leader for Guiding and a hockey team manager for years, I get that there’s always much more behind the scenes than people have any idea of. Nonetheless, while you technically said nothing wrong, and posted the disclaimer at the end, this was a fairly lengthy “rant”, defending your lack of “bias”, tacked onto Kevin’s post. For me, it validated why he or anyone else, might be intimated to post, when that is the reaction.
I don’t “agree” or “disagree” with lots of yours or others’ posts (and I rather enjoy them for the most part), but my two cents of feedback – when a large chunk of posts exist to merely “I agree” on an opinion regarding a very broad and multi-faceted topic and/or a large number of posts make reference to how “divisive” or “contentious” an event is, it serves to underpin that more. I didn’t find the event too annoying – and maybe because of the stellar moderating – I didn’t find the comments very bad. Truthfully, the posts themselves were bumming me out over this whole event and I would have enjoyed them a lot more with a better tone and less consistent reference to how the event had unleashed hell in a handbasket.
As for Kevin – Your posts are always interesting. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I post, but I would want you and anyone else to always feel free to engage here. That’s why I’ve always loved this site.
KEVIN L G – You should never feel that you cannot comment at Addicts. I noticed that you have more or less stopped commenting & I think it’s a shame. You made some valid points & were entertaining. Let 2017 be the year you return to it…..Happy New Year…..💜X
To me, this site is quite perfect as it is. However, I’d like to suggest loosening up on the no-spoilers rule. Even if things might behave differently after being released, it’s still interesting to prepare for possibly/likely happening things (educated guessing based on previous behavior), premium stuff coming live later on and critical dates not to miss. I think that posting corresponding and highly visible disclaimers should be enough to help those not wanting spoilers avoid them.
MARC….or simply a page called ‘in game spoilers’ i.e if you don’t want to know don’t visit. It’s the reason why I use the Wiki so much too. I like to be prepared & not have key characters in 24 hour jobs & an idea of how many Donuts I’m likely to spend etc…..
A list of xp of items for game cash to determine what best farming if we have time to do it.
I would love more design ideas posts to show peoples creativity and not just the show offs- But if I love this site and is the only one I visit for TSTO info. And I think you guys are great and Alissa you have to be a great multi tasker. And the bracket battles were a great addition so thank you
The “Should I Buy” posts are very helpful.
I appreciate the explanations of new events, how crafting works, etc.
I like the sneaky tips and tricks too, like how to get the Jebediah Springfield statue.
Keep up the good work.
Can’t think of much that needs changing, structurally….I still think this is the best TSTO site out there for really getting the lowdown on how things work, etc.
But I think maybe were overdue for a silly, fun little contest of some mind or something else like that (it doesn’t even have to involve prizes)…I feel like this site needs a little lightening up lately!
How about a “design a TSTO 2017 t-shirt” contest”?💡✍️🏆👚
The winner could get the first t-shirt as a prize?
COOOOOL😎. Including ALL continents too. I’m miffed that I can’t always participate. I’d gladly pay postage myself etc….🍾🎉👍🏽…..💜X
Speaking of the Zombie Sandwich, I really wish EA will upgrade the Nightmare Pile to work similarly.
Essentially meaning:
1) you can send multiple kids for their 4-hour Halloween tasks and
2) being able to cut short the remaining 10% time for free.
Secondly, the interface needs an overhaul for these things:
1) Office of Unemployment: have two button columns so that one button can be used to mass send characters to tasks, while the other can be used to end tasks. The problem right now is if for example you sent all but one character to do their 4-hour tasks, and that one character for a 1-hour quest task, you can’t put that character to a 4-hour task if you want to 1-click complete all the other characters’ tasks unless you’re willing to pay donuts to rush the latest character as well.
2) Separate the free characters from the ones with a completed task, or allow you to cycle past those characters like how you could previously.
3. Better mass quest task management. I get really annoyed when I’m given a quest that involves everyone, because their task will show up as top priority and cannot be overridden using the office of employment. Once you’ve assigned the minimum number of characters needed for the quest, the game should stop prioritizing that quest.
4. Lastly, I wish EA would fix the bug that prevents premium skins from earning quests at premium rate.
Otherwise, I’d say EA did a great job in patching up the game.
Love this site the way it is. #1 is that you DON’T do spoilers. Come here multiple times a day and read everything (including the duplicate x100 responses…hehehe). Thank you all for all your hard work😘 👍
Just incase you’re considering it, I’d love spoiler posts too. I’d love to anticipate the possible upcoming act, for example, in order to keep characters available or be more strategic with donuts.
Seconded.
I’d much rather know what’s coming so I can spend my donuts wisely than be surprised. Clearly marked spoiler posts would be fantastic.
Agreed… even if they’re “subject to change” I’d like to get an idea of whats coming up. At the moment I go to other sites for such things, but I’d love to stay with just this one 🙂
My only “spoiler” request would be a heads up on what characters will be “first out of the gate” when a new event starts. If you have an idea what characters will be needed the first 8 hours of an event, I would love to know this info the day before a new event starts.
Happy New Year and thank you for all your work!
I’ve read through a chunk of the suggestions so far and agree that a complete master list of all items would be amazing. But what would really have helped me is a list of all items and their xp payout when placed so I knew to place only when my xp collider is on. For example, I vaguely recall Marvin’s sand therapy paid out a huge xp once placed and would have been very valuable if I could have done so while my collider was active.
I know this isn’t a major thing but would have helped me A LOT, lol!
SIB: could there be a master list page for these? Is there one and I missed it? And/or (as best as you can) put in links when appropriate–I know you guys do this often, just not always. For example, King Winter was useful this past event but didn’t have a link to his SIB when he was first mentioned. (Unless I’m blind and missed it, then I’m sorry). I needed to search King Winter and then scroll through several old posts to locate the SIB.
PS. THANK YOU FOR MY ZOMBIE SANDWICH! (Yeah sure, that could be for EA, but I do mean thank you to the Addicts SIB) I wasn’t going to waste donuts on it till I read the SIB! Omg, a huge chunk of my characters roaming around as zombies!?! At a cash payout more than regular?!! Sold 😉 (too bad EA only made it an hour, so sad on that front)
PPS. Ok, I’ll add to the bandwagon of shorter Live vids. I don’t watch them cuz an hour is too long for me when I don’t know the covered topics (so yes synopsis, in point form, would be great too). 20min, I’d watch though.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2016/10/03/chart-alert-master-premium-list-including-links-to-should-i-buys/
Ooops, thanks! I’ve bookmarked!
I love the design ideas posts (how to make a maze, 3D ideas, create your own go-kart track, do-it-yourself airports, etc.) and would be thrilled to see more of them. For a city design game there’s very little emphasis placed here on actual designing. I’d love to see pics of A/B/W/P’s towns as well as other gamers, posts on repurposing items to make other design elements, on inside jokes or recurring/favourite character situations, on incorporating the Popsicle stick skyscraper or other aspirationals, on unusual placements that work, tips on hiding ugly buildings or % boosters, on incorporating SH buildings into city designs, or an annual show off your favourite Springfield block post.
Also, I really love the guest posts we’ve had – how to recover from nuking, KEM farming guide, and the bracket challenges are some of my favourite posts. Fellow skyfingers, step up with a guest post if you’ve got an idea, these posts rock!
I will not rest until i see LINGUO, Lisa’s awesome grammar robot as a playable character in tsto.
I would like the adorable Riley added to the banners. Bunny has her stuffed bunny…I think Alissa should have her beautiful daughter in cartoon form!
is there an updated map for how much land plots cost?
I love seeing all the posts although I think I would like to see more.
I want to see more posts of what a wookie wants and more of what the addicts want. I also would like to see more contests.
As for the game I want to see an event based on the Simpsons movie or maybe an event involving something like kamp krusty or krustyland. In the town census I would like to see an option so that we could find npcs in our towns easily. In the unemployment office I would like to see the option so that we could send characters on 2hr tasks, 6hr tasks and 10hr tasks. I would also like to see characters in the game such as Troy McClure, Lionel hutz, bleeding gums Murphy, Wendell, and Lewis and more kids in general would be good also.
I want to be able to cancel a character task…especially Homer and Lisa.
If the characters are doing outside tasks, drop them into storage and then pull them out again. If they are in a building, drop the building into storage and everyone inside will get dumped. Then pull the building back out and re-place it. (Note: The Simpson house cannot be stored, nor can pivotal items during an event…like Moe’s and the Library during the winter event)
We need more pictures of Patrick’s town, as well as those for Alissa, Wookie, and Bunny. What are your neighboreeno’s most creative ideas?
You may have one this already & I am looking for a master list of what character has a task at what building. My town is getting larger & would like to know who I can send where to light up a build that seems to get little use. Thx
I know this has been done for some events. Look under tips and tricks, then charts and data. Not sure if it’s been done for every building in the game though.
I don’t think there is one here, but there is a nice list on the forum.
https://forums.ea.com/en/discussion/88574/buildings-tasks#latest
Thanks
Sight is really awesome and doesn’t need improving but only one I say is the ads on the side but if u have to pay WordPress extra then it doesn’t matter, also addict love is perfect but just shorten it down by like 20min cos of real life get inflected.
I would love to have a “send a character on a task” mode so I could just click “8 hours, 8 hours, 8 hours” instead of back and forth “character, 8 hours, character, 8 hours, character, 8 hours”.
You mean like the unemployment office?
Ps- where are my manners! This is a great app/site with great content and an interesting community. I check it several times a day.
This is probably a WordPress thing or an App thing or iPhone thing (as that’s what I use) rather than an Addicts site thing but a search option from the home page would be nice rather than having to open a page and search from there. Also within the topic pages, the share and exit icons occasionally get in the way of the search bar resulting in minor inconvenience.
I realize this is very minor and a little silly, but would it be possible to have a button at the very bottom of the comments that takes you back to the top of the page? It’s just that on a phone or tablet it’s kind of annoying scrolling all the way back up after reading all the comments. Otherwise I wouldn’t change a thing! Thanks for all you guy’s hard work!
That’s really more a function of WordPress…and not available at this point…
FWIW on most tablets if you tap on the browser bar at the top of the screen (you may have to tap it twice like I do in Safari) it should take you back to the top of the page.
The exact process may vary from platform to platform but you should be able to find something similar to avoid the long scroll back up.
I’d like to see cultural theme, i.e. Ancient Egyptian, Chinese, Roman or Greek, or a Parisian theme with famous monuments. Also I’m down with having fairytale/enchanted themes!
I know this is a what do you want to see on the site, but I like exactly how it is now… so no changes! As for EA maybe a monorail recycling centre, 5 curves pieces trade for one straight section etc. And a x track so two monorails could cross each other’s track… I would trade 100 curves for one of those!
On the mobile site I’d like to see the “view older comments” button at the top of the listed comments as well as the bottom instead of only at the bottom. When you know you’ve got to jump back at least 4 pages to reach your convo it is a lot of work to scroll to the bottom of each page when you go back later to check.
I’d like to see SIB’s take priority when there are new time sensitive items released above “where did that come from” posts as well as “prize #2 breakdown”. When you want a new item it is tough sometimes to wait 5 days for the SIB post. There are times I pull the trigger cuz I don’t want to wait days then I regret it when had I read the SIB I wouldn’t have purchased the item.
When moderating can you just delete repeat answers to people’s questions so we don’t need to scroll through 21 responses of “yes you can” to someone’s question. Unless there is more detailed info in a different answer of course.
Can you post an addicts open game suggestion post every few months? If we know EA reads your site it would be nice to have our game wants and suggestions read by the people who can implement such changes.
A lot of this is the limitations of WordPress…but will take a look at options.
A “Report Glitches” page would cut down on all the multiple posts not related to the subject being covered…some days there are more glitch reports than actual posts. Would also give EA an easy place to monitor.
I like your open game suggestions post idea 🙂
🙂
I love this site it helps me out a lot I read all comments to see what others think about the post yes it’s not fun reading the same thing over and over again but everyone wants there words printed freedom of speech and all but yes I am an old man in my 60 and there are alot of things I don’t know how to do it would be nice to go to the menu button and find like how to screen shot I would love to try that but don’t know how I read one time in comments how to but forgot by the time I was done reading designs ideas would be nice to or more ideas I guess as you do have some posted I love the game and love this site with out this site I would of quit long ago.thank you so much for all you do for us happy new year to everyone I hope all have a great and healthy 2017 Bunny you are missed
I’d love to be able to sell any item in the game. I have hundreds of items that I don’t want just sitting in my storage.
I also would love it if we could organize our storage. I put all my Christmas stuff away when it’s over, same with the other holidays and seasons. It’s really time consuming to go through hundreds of items looking to see if I have any more decor for special occasions.
I would also like to add that I really do love this game. I feel bad complaining because let’s face it… there is no better game out there!!
Happy New Year everyone!
Exactly what I would like! And I would also like to have a way to give my neighbours things I don’t need.
And I dislike it that some characters have 5 tasks of 4 hours but no 10, 16 or 20 hour tasks.
Quick note: Guys, as it explains in this post, this is about what you want to see (or not see) on this site in 2017…not in the game. This is a yearly post i do to get insight from you guys to help us to continue making TSTO Addicts awesome.
