In-Game Update: Rommelwood Academy (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Looks like EA’s truly being unpredictable these days…which I do think is a good thing..and we’ve got ourselves a late in the day in-game update!

I’ll be back with more details on this in a bit…but for now know that it auto starts for you with some dialogue from Mayor Quimby, and this is followed by a task for kids of Springfield and Skinner (6s).  Which is followed by tasks for the Parents of Springfield and Skinner (also 6s).  And that’s followed by another 6s task for the kids.  This will launch your mini event track..and start to show the prizes in the game and items you can purchase in the store.

Additionally, it looks like the tourists are back in Springfield!  EA’s finally repaired the missing dialogue bug plaguing the tourists and they’ve returned to the store…so you’ll see some dialogue popup from them as well.  And they’ll appear in the store for 60 donuts…

Back with more in a bit Tiny Addict’s asleep, images converted, details unfolded and here we go…

Remember this is an in-game update.  Nothing to download from the App Stores.  So if you don’t see it download automatically in your game try hard closing and restarting TSTO..

FYI…it appears (based on what’s being offered in the store) that this is the “military take over” event teased in the update dialogue…

First a few notes…

This Update Ends March 28th at 0800 GMT (as of right now), which is 4am EDT…

For those looking/hoping for St. Patrick’s Day…St. Patrick’s Day items are coming.  They’ll be here on St. Patrick’s Day.  From what I can see there’s nothing new, but if you were hoping to pick up old items they’ll be back.  In a Mystery Box form…

And this event has a second component to it, Hellfish. That won’t start until next week, when the St. Patrick’s Day stuff leaves.  It appears that this will at least be more items in the store to purchase….we’ll see what (if anything) else.

And finally, the Tourists (as mentioned above) are back in the store.  60 donuts for all 3 tourists.  They are FULL characters (3 individual characters).  They have tasks that will put them in their various costumes from the Around the World Event.  I’ll have a full breakdown on them in the Should I Buy post.  But the short of it…yes, this is a great buy.

Now onto what’s involved with this event…

As mentioned above you’ll have to complete a series of 6s tasks to trigger the mini event screen to appear, and new items in the store.

Now let’s talk about the prizes…. (and again I’ll have the breakdown on how to get each one in the Turbo Tappin’ post):

Rommelwood Academy– 80

Rommelwood Statue- 180

Rommelwood Barracks- 350

Cadet Lisa- 420

The Eliminator- 450

Conquer the Eliminator Task for Cadet Lisa- 480

You may have noticed I used  for the prizes, this is the Class Coin and the item you’ll need to collect to unlock the prizes.

How do you earn these coins?  Well just like other mini events you can earn coins by sending various characters on 3hr tasks (yes, weird time).  Freemium characters earn 10 each task and Premium characters earn 20  each task.

Leopold, the new premium character, will earn .  Also, Greta Wolfcastle earns .

I’ll break down who can help earn for each task in the Turbo Tappin’ Post. But it’s basically the it’s in Springfield (Ralph, Martin, Nelson, Dolph, Milhouse, Bart, Lisa, Database, Janey)

After you complete the prize track you’ll be able to use the Eliminator to earn various prizes, by sending Lisa on 12hr tasks there.

And that’s it my friends, all there is to the Rommelwood Academy mini event!

What are your thoughts on the mini event? Anything you’re excited to see? Not excited to see? Ready for a nice low key fun event? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Training plane 3.5% or 2.5%? Shows up 2.5%

  2. With the new bonus percentages added, I broke 200%. Woohoo!

  3. How do you get the rommelwood barracks? I don’t see them in the he store?

  4. Alissa, thanks for the full write-up, great work, as usual.

I do have one question… The Rommelwood Barracks, I don’t see them in my store for donuts at this time… Are they the type of thing you get one free and once you do, you unlock the ability to buy more via donuts?

  5. Hi Alissa, thanks for your help !
Any word on new gifts when you complete visits to otjer Springfields?
Not a serious question, see you at
    Tonysalmai175. ; )

  6. Duffman is missing from my store, so he must be going on sale, right? Please say yes!

  7. 1/2 bottle of champagne, spring break boredom and math madness anticipation enabled me to buy every character offered including the tourists. I think that’s 3 schools, 3 characters and 3 tourists. I’ve been waiting to buy the 2 private schools and maybe not the best deal but rebate was nice! Stopping now and waiting on advice for other few items offered.

  8. Bought everything except those tourists! Still on fence about them!

    • Is Leopold voiced?

    • 20 doughnuts for 3 full character. I’m still on the fence. What worries me is they’re not in any category of characters. Are they a one time deal then they’ll disappear? Leopold is in the “School Workers” category.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

They are 3 separate fully playable characters 😊

    • Buy the tourists! They are only 20 donuts each, and they are full playable!

    • Three playable characters (two of which earn at premium rates) for 60 donuts?!? To me, that’s a total no-brainer….there’s never been a better character deal. (Also, in case you’re interested, when you send them on the tasks related to France, Japan, and Brazil, they change to look like the event NPCs/tourists from that part of the event (for example, the woman looks like a geisha when you send her on the Japan task).)

  9. Off topic but what the heck ever happened with the homerlayas? I got homer and none of the rest!

  10. The tourists have three roles to play, one skin, if you will, for each of the three. The skins represent the various tourists from each stage ( Brazil, France, and Japan). Thus, in a way, you are getting nine characters for the price of three.

  11. Ugh, we get it. The game developers, or at least the person tasked with writing and approving the dialogue, don’t like the policies of the new President. That’s ok, I don’t much like them either; but I’ve had enough of incendiary and divisive rhetoric.

    • I’m seriously sick of hearing about it…over saturation.

      • Normally I’d agree, but the enormity of what’s currently in the works warrants it, IMO.

        • Doesn’t mean I’m not sick of hearing about it. And that I think it’s over saturated and over played and just plain not funny anymore. Nearly 2 years of the same jokes, kinda getting old.

      • I totally understand the feeling, but the risk of stopping it is that it would normalize what’s happening and what’s happening absolutely must not be normalized. What’s going on is like nothing I’ve seen in my lifetime and it scares the crap out of me. I wasn’t happy during the Bush Jr. years (to put it mildly), but that was at least within the realm of normal.

        • Let’s not blow things out of proportion. I merely was talking about the fact that the jokes have gone stale.

The world isn’t ending, the sun is still shining (you know when it’s not snowing). Doom and gloom will get you no where. But if you think the world is going to end because of 1 president I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona i can sell you…. 😉

  12. Seems EA has release a bunch of donut eating items, with utterly pitiful bonus %’s. As much as I would like to pick some of them up, I’m not paying 40 or 50 donuts for a bonus % of less than 1%!

  13. And of course I sent everyone on 12 hour tasks a little while ago…..

    • Free up enough children , parents and Skinner by storing and unstoring the buildings you have tasked them to.

  14. mydadlookslikeFlanders

I just bought the tourists because I really need more playable characters. Good deal at 60 donuts IMO

  15. FYI Plastic Prison and Attack Helicopter from Superheroes event now have a bonus percentage.

  16. Android doesn’t seem to have it yet.

  17. I hope this doesn’t mean they’ll preempt St. Patrick’s this year. I just started playing over the holidays and, at the very least, I’d like to get O’Flanagan’s Pub. Knowing my luck, they’ll bring it back and start charging donuts for it this year.

  18. The tourists are an incredible deal! 3 separate characters for 60 donuts. Two of them pay at premium rate (the man and the woman) and one pays at normal rate (the kid). Not sure if it’s a glitch that they are not all the same, but still a great deal.

    • You mean they’re not NPCs? I just assumed they were (especially at that price)! If that’s the case, then they’re a no-brainer of a purchase!

    • Agreed Jason, they are a great deal! I hadn’t noticed the pay rates though, I’ll take a look.

Sandrashill, yeah, those are three separate Playable Characters. Though they are (so far) sharing one questline, they each can be sent to do different tasks at the same time. These are three separate toons, unlike the Twins and Patches and Poor Violet pairs, or the Wiccan and Monkey trios. Three separate PCs for 60D. Great deal!

    • For me the Man is always going to Brazil. That belly lmao Like skinner He is continually cleaning the fire truck and Kudos and Smithers are always spreading glitter.
PS EA I STILL NEED THE Corn Bob that spreads butter on his belly while he is laughing.

  19. Finally something to do!

  20. Wasn’t a fan of the dialog after buying the Tourist Bundle. EA needs to be a bit more sensitive towards current political issues and not bring them up in the game. This game is world wide and some issues are not really funny.

    • I’m just sick of it all in general…

      • Penny Nichols Soler

At lest it o y a mini event. When I saw the dialogue I was afraid it was going the be the winter event all over again .

      • Josephine Kick@$$

I rEAlly wish EA wouldn’t go there, it’s bad enough that it’s everywhere else.

    • I’m yet to get to the dialogue but I know what you mean. I play the game to have a break from such things.
I remember not being a fan of the dialogue around “fat Homer”.

    • I like it myself. It wouldn’t be The Simpsons without it. I recently got a smart TV and have been watching the entire series on FXNOW, barely an episode goes by wihout a political comment.

      • Josephine Kick@$$

Yes, there’s never been a controversial subject that they didn’t joke about, BUT aren’t we all fed up with this one? I guess it wouldn’t bug me so much if people weren’t being so vehement about it 😕

        • I think there are already too many distractions In life. That’s part of the problem. People don’t want to think. I know it’s not fun but maybe necessary. To add just a bit into a game I find commendable because it makes you think but doesn’t tell you what to think. They aren’t ramming it down our throats, they’re bringing up a topic that is something that can’t be ignored no matter how much TV you watch or how many games you play to distract yrself from reality. The game can still be fun but we’re at a time where you can’t just ignore it anymore, no matter how much we all want to.

          • It doesn’t make you think. It makes you roll your eyes. And if you have had your head in the sand you won’t get it anyway.

            • Josephine Kick@$$

My last comment on the subject… does anyone who plays TSTO that live outside of the United States really want all of this over-done drama in their game? EA, please stop & move on to the next FUNNY thing, it’s simply not funny anymore! Your interjections into the game about the situation aren’t going to change anyone’s opinions. The horse is sooooo dead. Let it go!

            • Any level of awareness is a good thing. I think some of the writers know this is another escape from reality so they just want to throw a little awareness in there so maybe some people sleepwalking through life keep these things in mind. People with small children especially (ahhemmm) should be very worried about this issue. The game points it out but doesn’t tell you what to think or try to push any agenda. Social consciousness isn’t often comfortable but also an integral part of The Simpsons. They do a very good job of keeping things balanced but pointing out the foibles of both sides. Then let you decide which sounds more ludicrous.

              • Seriously you’re missing the ENTIRE point….

It’s not what they’re saying, it’s how many times they’re saying the same thing. There’s only so many times you can beat the dead horse before they call PETA on you…

              • I still like it being a part of the game. I guess it depends on what yr into. Politics for some people are like sports to me. I just want to scream whenever someone brings it up.

          • Well, Josephine, I live outside of the US. I am very tired of the subject. But to have a game based on a social commentary (and The Simpsons is social commentary more than it is satire or comedy or anything else) made and set in the US ignore what the most controversial issue in the country is, that would disappoint me horribly. Social commentary is supposed to highlight social issues. And no matter which side of the issue you might find yourself on, or how over-saturated the topic seems to be, as long as it is an issue it would be remiss of EA not to bring it up. If you don’t like hearing about it anymore what needs to change is the reality, not the game.

            • So go out and beat up news reporters? Got it. 😉

Seriously guys you’re missing the point. It’s not what they’re saying, it’s HOW MANY TIMES THEY’RE SAYING IT. The joke is only funny so many times. Kinda like “Knock Knock, who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock, Knock. Who’s there? Banana who? Knock, knock. Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?” it’s only funny so many times before you recognize the punch line and it losses it’s a-peel (yes done intentionally cause I was talking about fruit with peels)

            • Hear, hear

            • Wonderfully well said!

  21. I had to do some creative building storing/replacing to free up kids & parents to start this task since I placed everyone on 12-24 tasks less then 30min before the event started.

  22. Wolfcastl’s daughter is available with a 40 donut rebate.
Was on the fence, she was ~#12 on my TO BUY list.
Bought her, discovered she earns Event Currency. At least for the first 3 hour segment.
    FYI.

    • p.s.
Where is/are the. (fill in the blank)
The new character / building combo is ~150 donuts. On the cusp of
      Definite buy / too expensive.

  23. Hi is the 3 characters playable or they are NPC?

  24. I just finished getting my 5 bonuts from Railyard on my afternoon 10min break, got back to my desk and my gf sends an email… LOL Bad timing, EA >shakes fist< LOL 😉

  25. Should we buy the three characters? Are they npcs or not?

  26. Not sure but I just got a new quest “Schools out Forever” pt 1. Research says this was a quest from 2 yrs ago where people actually got stuck? Any idea if this is a glitch or not?

  27. Grandpa’s tank was a no brainer!

  28. Wow….meetings got over just in time! Some pretty incendiary dialogue already! My teacher wife isn’t going to be pleased… Oh. Wait. I’m safe…she doesn’t play!

    • Josephine Kick@$$

I agree Patric, maybe we can slide through this without any battles. I think those that stir up $hî+ should have to lick the spoon 😂😂

  29. I just stored my Santas workshop and it disappeared, is this a known bug?

  30. Love this! Too bad im really low on donuts… hope sometime in the future
