Gil’s Hellfish Deal: Details and Should You Buy

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ol’ Gil is back in Springfield…he couldn’t stay away too long!  This time he’s bringing us a deal of Hellish proportions…

Yes, Gil’s peddling a fun little Hellfish Bundle this time around.  Fits in nicely with our military inspired items from Rommelwood.  This bundle includes costumes for Grampa & Mr. Burns, as well as a couple other Hellfish items.

So let’s take a look at this deal, what’s involved and determine if you should spend your donuts on it…

So when you first opened up your Springfield today you would have seen some dialogue popup…

Herman: Someone broke into my shop and stole a bunch of WWII memorabilia.
Grampa: That’s why you should’ve hired WWII vets to guard your store.
Herman: I did hire you!
Grampa: Your first mistake.

At which point you’ll see Gil famously waving his arms in the air..

When tapped you’ll trigger this…

Gil: Ol’ Gil’s back in town and he’s got a real deal for you: a veritable bonanza of WWII treasures – don’t ask from where. I’ll take check, cash, or a warm meal.  Ok ANY meal.

At which point you’ll see the offer appear:

If you decline you’ll see:

Gil: I guess I’ll have to go sign up for war instead of just profiting from it.

And if you accept you’ll see:

Gil: Thanks, soldier! Remember, you can’t spell war profiteering without profit. Or war.

So what does this bundle include?  4 total items…

For 190 Donuts you’ll get…

Hellfish Grampa (a Premium skin for Grampa)

Hellfish Burns (a Premium skin for Burns)

Hellfish Monument (earns  $500, 45xp/24hrs, 6×2 in size.  Conform: Vanity +400)

Hellfish Treasure Chest (Earns nothing, 3×2 in size. Conform: Vanity +200)

So what are the pros and cons of this deal?  Let’s break them down..

Pros:
-Premium skins for both Grampa and Burns (earn at Premium rates, instead of their typical regular rate)
-Hellfish Monument is animated when in use (and will be used), the monument slides back and stairs are revealed
-Hellfish Grampa and Burns have some fun outdoor animations
-The only instance of Hellfish that we’ll get in Springfield (at least for now)

Cons:
-Over priced for two skins for existing characters and 2 items
-The Treasure Chest lacks a bonus % (for now at least) and offers a fairly weak animation (crab crawls out when tapped)

Final Thought:
Premium:
So, if you’ve really been wanting Hellfish stuff this is likely your chance to get it.  It is overpriced, but the number is relative to what you want in your game.  Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it.  But I know there are bunch of you premium players who will disagree with me, because you love the combo.  And that’s ok, if you’ve got the donuts to spend and love the items pick it up.  But if you want my opinion, it’s overpriced.

Freemium:
Pass.  This “deal” has all the red flags that we usually tell Freemium players to avoid.  It’s over priced.  No new characters, only skins for existing ones.  No bonus % offered on items, although the one does pay out cash. And the questline is pretty short.  My personal opinion for freemium players is pass.  It’s overpriced and underwhelming.

Of course in the end it’s your decision.  We can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do. And in this case I’ll likely pass. Whatever you decide just remember that this is limited time and will be leaving our games next week.  So whatever you decide just make sure you do it before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the tasks for Grampa and Burns…

  1. Hi..I was in Kristyland and seen Gil…I looked at his deal and said no at the time cause I never had enough donuts. I was gonna purchase some donuts so I could get the deal. Went back into the game I couldn’t find Gil..now the 6 days weren’t up yet and still are not. Does anyone have the same problem. Can anyone tell me how to get Gil back to I can get the things gils offering. Thanks

  2. If they both had an outdoor 4-hour task and one of the two items had a bonus %, I’d be down for this. Maybe.

Without that, it’s a hard pass. Shame, too…Hellfish are awesome, and like others have said, they should have their own event.

  3. Agree with you. Just not worth it – I don’t understand why Gil deals are often some of the worst deals in the game.

  4. Since I don’t even remember the Hellfish episode, I am going to pass. If they had included at least a new character, but this is underwhelming, to say the least. And usually I buy almost anything they offer.

  5. Waiting for Gil’s Spring-field Cleaning!! 🙌

  6. Can burns play tennis with Marge? I mean his possible positions. I have tennis Marge and she needs someone to play against.

  7. So, uh, might be a little kerfuffled as I’m kind of tired, but where did these magic stairs under the Hellfish memorial come from? In the episode (one of my favorites bar none simply because it shows that Abe isn’t just a senile old coot, or at least wasn’t always), the memorial’s eye lit up and acted as a beacon to show them where to dig for the treasure, not slid back and revealed a staircase…

Kind of disappointing to see the Hellfish get this treatment instead of a full blown event. Could have had skins for Barney and Skinner to represent their dads in the war.

  8. It would have been nice to have a Hellfish mini event. As usual, Gil’s dEAl is no rEAl dEAL(Way too many donuts for what you get). I do like the skins and am looking forward to the visual tasks. Fortunately, I have changed my strategy of play. I am no longer just trying to get the best bang for my donut in terms of how the items will help me down the line. I am purchasing things I will enjoy seeing in my Springfield. It’s helpful that I can farm 160 donuts in 24 hours, I just have to accrue $15 million in-game cash first. In the long run, most popular items return at some point in a about a year, so I can prioritize what means most to me. I just have a feeling that the Hellfish bundle may be one of those items we may not see again for a while (e.g. Kumiko). I think Abe looks great in his uniform and it’s my first skin for him. I also purchased the Training Plane for the animated task for Bart and Lisa. I’m looking forward to finishing the Monorail today to send Bart and Lisa to the plane.

  9. The only thing that might have tempted me in this bundle was the premium skin for Grampa, since I don’t have a premium skin for him yet. 190 doughnuts for a skin? NO deal, Gil!

  10. I am a Freemium but the moment I read Hellfish I considered buying some donuts to get this. But then I looked at the bundle and it seemed a little light for 190 donuts. I waited for the “Should you Buy” hoping that there was more there then I thought, disappointing.

  11. I got it because it’s classic Simpsons, but as far as in-game it is pretty weak. Both characters already have multiple premium skins (including Burns’ extra premium money skin), and it doesn’t even give a bonus percent (though I kind of expect them to add one later).

  12. What. A. Let down. Saw Herman and instantly got excited. Saw Gil and immediately got disappointed.

  13. These items are from one of my favorite episodes. Still like they kept on calling the squad the fighting hellish or the flying hellish.
Really want to spend the donuts, but they’re just too pricey.

  14. Terrible “deal” Gil. If you think this is a “deal”, might by why you can’t keep a job.

Not only is it skins for existing characters, one of them, Burns, isn’t even as good of a payout as the premium skin we already have for him. (The one you get when you complete Money Mountain.)

  15. Pass.

  16. This is really annoying. I would love to have the hell fish items, but when you’re only getting skins and decorations that don’t pay percentage, I really can’t justify the cost. Also it would clean me out of donuts.
Agree with everyone else, a hell fish event would have been fab.

  17. I’m pretty disappointed this wasn’t a mini-event. Seems like a waste of something a lot of players, myself included, have been craving for a long time.

I’m passing mostly on principal, but also because it’s just not that good of a deal. Not that Gil “deals” ever are…

  18. Sorry callyman96 for accidentally graffiting your building. Complete mistake on my part, I was distracted.

  19. Gil… I hope someday he’ll offer himself in one of his deals as a playable character with painful and humiliating tasks to do so that I can get my revenge on him.

    • Josephine Kick@$$

😂😂 I’d love a 24 hr task that made him run & hide, then when you finally found him you’d get a donut 😃

  20. I’m going off topic. Sorry.
I just lost all my donuts. I had around 264. I opened the app and it said I was logged out. When I logged in and the game loaded the donutcounter said 0 😭. I just contacted ea. Is anyone having the same issues and will I get my donuts back?

    • I’m currently playing three separate Springfields on three different devices. I had this message appear on all three of my games today. I restarted my devices and everything is fine. Hopefully you have the same experience if you try restarting your device.

    • Happened to me too, just a few minutes ago. First I was logged out, and after log in, my donut count was 0. Hard close and restart worked for me, at least this time. You should try that while waiting for the response from EA.

Hope this problem doesn’t grow into something major malfunction.

    • That happened to me a couple of months ago. And while I was waiting for EA to call me back (their recommended form of communication), my donuts reappeared. So maybe yours will, too!

    • This happened to me, too. When I logged back in, nothing was missing from my game and the St. Patrick’s Day items were back in the store.

    • Going to Krustyland and returning to Springfield will synchronize you Springfield and the donuts will reappear,…. at least it did with me. YMMV

  21. The deal disappeared for me. I was going to pick it up layer today but after I declined it’s nowhere in the store for me. Is anyone else having this issue?

  22. Hey fun boys, get a room!!!

  23. Disappointing.
    Not much there.

  24. Italian Beauty

If you want a really good premium skin for Burns, complete the Money Mountain. His Moneybags skin earns a whole lot more than a premium skin/character.

  25. I was planning to pass on this because it would eat up most of my remaining donuts. Glad to get confirmation. Might have got it for half the price.

  26. I’ve never been impressed by Gil Deals. The items offered are always over priced. 100-150 doughnuts I can deal with. Most of the time Gil Deals are 190-300 doughnuts. There’s better items to buy. Maybe that’s the joke, poor old Gil can’t get a break. Mind you I’d love it if he became a character we could buy. Some great animation with Cookie Kwan would be hilarious. Are you talking about the East side? No Cookie I’m afraid of you.😂

  27. Why did they waste the hellfish on a deal. They could have done an event, mini or otherwise.

  28. Sorry to go off topic but just wondered if anyone else was having issues with accessing the game? I tried a couple of hours ago and was logged out of my account. I still can’t get on now and wondered if they were having servers problems again.

    • I’m back in now 😂.

    • That happened to me. I was able to login with no trouble but the servers are acting up again. It took some time to stay connected. Maybe EA had to update or fix an issue which resulted in people getting logged out.

    • sabrtriviachamp

Yeah, I’m starting to have that problem, too. I have to log in, and it takes a couple of tries before it finally clicks. Something (hell)fishy here, if you ask me…..

    • They must be having intermittent server issues because twice today, I loaded the game and it said it couldn’t connect to the server. I hit retry and it says I’ve been logged out and asked if I wished to log back in. I log back in and then it says this game has been signed in on another device. I click play anyway and it takes me into the game. Nothing has been changed in my Springfield and all $ and donut numbers are the same. The only other device that could be signed in is my phone so, it must be related to EA server issues.

    • Yes, I had issues and got messages such as “your game logged in another device”, which was impossible. I changed my password, the issues seem fixed since then.

    • I am having trouble to login too…

    • My wife and I are having the same issues today. She’s even had her donut stockpile reset to zero!

  29. This was a defo for me. I’ve already started it. Just now grampa is dodging grenades, loving it!

  30. Agree with most of the other comments (Disappointed pass). Yes would rather have an event and have other skins – like Young Military Abe and Burns. Or at least a task of old gramma in a trench coat with his pants down. I guess I’ll have to wait a couple years and hope to pick these things up in a rebate surprise box.
