Remember…this is an automatic change in your game. Nothing to download, it should just start up in your game..
Lisa, Homer & Moe will start this for you with dialogue. This will be followed by a 4hr task for Homer.

Just what does Act 3 have in store for us? Let’s take a look…
New Prize Currency for Pirate Era.
Eye Patches
So the ability to earn Papyri is now gone. Your counter prize track for the Pirate Era has reset to zero because you have zero Eye Patches. So forget about those Papyri…time to cover up with those Eye Patches!
You’ll earn Eye Patches very similar to how you earned Papyri during the Egyptian Era…
-Clearing the new Tappables (Rats)
– Clearing Rats in your Neighbor’s towns
-Tasks at Mom and Pops Hardware (earn shovels and eye patches)
-Dig Site, each Square you earn will earn Eye Patches (like it earned currency for the last 2 eras), output will vary depending on your Panini Press Level.
-Daily Challenges
-Waterslide (if you’ve purchased it)
You’ll also earn Eye Patches from the questline…don’t ignore the questline. You earn a ton of Event currency from it, it’s important for your prize track total..
New Pirate Era Tappables

The New Pirate Era Tappable is Rats. They still spawn, 1 every 3 minutes. The Max in your town at once 30, Bank 50. So your town and bank is full every 4hrs….

Excavation Site Prizes
Yes, you’ll still be collecting SHOVELS for the Pirate Era Dig site. You earn shovels by sending characters on tasks at Mom and Pops Hardware, by Daily Challenges and by buying them (don’t buy them).
You’ll need 48 
to earn all of the Pirate Era Excavation Prize Track…and it works exactly like it did for each of the previous Eras.

Egyptian Prizes…
If you didn’t collect them all… you can still access them by tapping on the “EGYPTIAN” tab in the Personal Prizes area. As you can no longer collect items for them, your only option now is to pay donuts to outright buy each one left at the point you left off at. (Just like every other event recently.)
Crafting
Crafting remains, as it was during the 2 previous Eras, for the Pirate Era.
Specimen for crafting are earned via the prize track, Daily Challenges, tapping rats, Excavation site and the Historical Society (if you purchased it)

The vault worked well for me! I got Seamus, lisa and bart knight! So good value for 180 sprinklies! Now 10 treasures away to getting the bridge. And working on second prize of land token. I have crafted all the prizes I wanted, the rest is a bonus and I maxed on the time machine too. I can take a breath now. I will pass on the pirate ship.
I’m am not pleased at all to find I can’t buy Blackbeard separately. I don’t want the airship and it is very expensive. As Homer would say “BOO!!!”. I had my 100 donuts all ready too 🙁
Actually 75 donuts for the Airship is a fantastic deal considering it offers a large bonus %.
I’m just salty because I’m a freeminum player and can’t afford the initial 250 donuts truthfully. lol

Cool. Thanks for the advice! I need to learn how to farm bad… I will do my best to learn how to farm tomorrow. I have been having trouble with the concept unfortunately. I am up to almost 150 donuts now and have around six days left to buy the Blackbeard bundle. Wish me luck 😉

The concept is actually fairly simple…the only thing that’s a bit more complex (but not very), is determining how many KEMs to farm.
Here’s the concept…build KEMs so that, when they’re done building, you can collect the XP and fill your XP meter faster, this getting you to a free level-up donut (if you’re under level 939) or bonus donuts box round (if you’re at level 939). Then, sell back the KEMs to recoup some of your cash and start over. To make it much more effective, turn on the collider first and strive to have as high a bonus multiplier percentage as you can. Usually, the number of KEMs you want to build is however many you can do and still keep your cash constant (balanced off by the task and building collections you do). It may take a bit of trial and error to figure that out. (Charles (or someone) has a spreadsheet that theoretically could also hep, but I couldn’t get it to work, myself…it wouldn’t let me put my numbers in.)
Alternatively, if you don’t mind spending down your cash faster, you can buy and sell rat trap trucks or bloodmobiles to earn XP.
If your multiplier isn’t very high, you won’t make a ton of donuts, honestly. Be sure to have all of your Springfield Heights buildings (except the resorts) out, since they provide a hidden XP multiplier and buy and place all of the beach hideaway segments, too. (For the Springfield Heights buildings, you only need the core buildings out…you don’t need to place all of the auxiliary pieces.)

I bought Blackbeard and the ghost ship bundle almost straight away. For %bonus seekers, the T-shaped Tree with rebate seems good, 5 donuts for 0.5% (aka 10 donuts gets you 1%) which seems like it will be better than anything in the vault.
The tough question is, how many to buy.
I wouldn’t buy any because they’re too hard to decorate with… They’re too weird! Trees just don’t ever grow like that, do they? (I can deal with lots of fantastical stuff, but, for some reason, not when it comes to trees…)

I was hoping for a little more….meh. Lots of small prizes, should have been craftables IMO. I’m going to pick up the prison though for one reason only- it reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disney! (Minus the recycling bin, but I think that’s a funny touch).

Thanks Alissa! You guys are on top of it! Don’t know how you keep up with all this!! Again I had to spend donuts, 35 this time, to get Willie prize for the last era. Ugh. My son was able to get it this time, but he got Pharaoh Skinner, so maybe that helped? Funny how the skeleton pile to craft looks just like the shallow grave pile for the 2nd escavation prize. Haha! So cheesy! Lol

I can’t speak on behalf of the TSTO Addicts team, as I’m simply a viewer, but I think Blackbeard and the pirate ship are overpriced. If the ghost ship gave some kind of bonus % it’d be more reasonable, but it’s still a character/building combo for net 175 which is pricey. Personally, as a premium-ish player, I’m going to wait for the SIB and see what Blackbeard’s animated tasks are (and if he uses the ship), but I’ll probably pass.
Actually, I saw someone below say something about a bonus multiplier of 5%, and I verified that as a standalone pirate ship it did give a bonus multiplier. If this ship still gives a bonus of 5% like the standalone did, I’m more willing to view this as a 50/50 deal. Absolutely waiting on Alyssa’s SIB now.

I should never buy anything not in bundle form. I bought the ghost pirate ship last time when it was on rebate and felt like I was getting a deal. Now I have to pay 100 for Blackbeard by himself and the price I pay per item is a lot more than this bundle!

Considering Blackbeard with Ghost Pirate Airship. Blackbeard is offered for 100 donuts as a standalone character, so that is 75 donuts for the Airship with a 5% multiplier bonus. Apparently he helps with the event (earns shovels) and the ship looks awesome in my neighbor’s towns.
If I buy it right now, almost all my donuts would be used up. The upcoming 4th of July mystery box sounds very promising from what I heard, so I will wait for that first. Hope Blackbeard offer stays around until the event ends. But I am seriously considering using a large junk of my in-game reserve on a bunch of bloodmobiles (or a few days of KEM farming in overdrive) for this.
That was the part I waited for the most. Now that we’re finally here… I find it a bit underwhelming. But the egyptian era didn’t looked like much either and I did managed to make something great with it, maybe I’ll manage that for the pirate era as well.

Sorry EA, I’d probably have bought Blackbeard as a standalone character, but definitely not in this overpriced bundle. Booberella and Gravedigger Billy are help enough, anyway. With leftover daily tasks, untapped invaders and fully stocked shovels, I jumped to 12.800 Eye Patches within the first 15 minutes after the era’s start… 🙂
175 (net price) – 100 (char price) = 75 donuts for the Ghost air ship. with 5% bonus is not overpriced at all. 🙂
If you’re not even remotely interested in some part of the bundle, it is – kinda. At least in my opinion.
